Great news this update.

When they do start testing power supplies it would be great if they are able to also try and then advise an UPS solution that fits the product.

Great news this update.

When they do start testing power supplies it would be great if they are able to also try and then advise an UPS solution that fits the product.

The equation for finding out what kind of UPS you want is something that is more determined by you, than them. As the power draw is constant (500w or 1000w, for safety's sake on the Saturn/Jupiter, respectively). After that, you need to find out how long you want of a window to shut down the unit (or how long you want it to run), then that gives you an idea of how big of a UPS and how many extra battery packs you would need if extended run time was something you were after.

Battery back ups are nice, but a generator is a must if you plan to have long term outages (data centers already have huge generators the size of semi trucks sitting outside) and want to keep running.

http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/selectors/ups/index.cfm?utm_source=brochure&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=ups_brochure

APC has a run time calculator as well.

Tongue  I think one person is speaking of power supply for the miners, while the other is speaking about "Backup power supplies"
PSU(Power Supply Unit) = ATX = UPS(Universal Power supply), But any backup 120/240v power supply is also known as a UPS(Universal Power Supply) as well.

oh, and an Uninterrupted Power Supply (APC was #1 back in my day, not sure if still is) not only keeps your unit on, if it has the software/hardware interface, it will power itself off nicely, instead of a sudden shut down, and when the power SURGES back on, the UPS and has built in surge protection, so a wise investment when spending more than 3K+ on a computer/hasher.

BFL redesigned their cases in April when the chips actually arrived, after blowing money on stocking cases that didn't work.

BS, the one I use will. Stop trying to spread FUD, an ATX supply is just a power brick with a fan, you are just use to people putting them inside the case for neatness.

KNC offer professional hosting of their miners at a local data center as a payable service.

Both Sam and Andreas are Systems Architects by profession.

Sam's been arranging datacentres and has a total understanding of their requirements, hence no liquid cooling, as liquid cooled miners are not welcome in datacentres.
