Do you feel shameful for being a gambler?

I don't feel a shamed about it I'm quite a open book with everything also with gambling. And I have many friends who gamble from time to time, so for me it's quite normal. 

That is the normal reaction. I mean if you are feeling shameful for gambling than you are doing something wrong. The question is being a gambler tough.

I mean is OP asking if you are a gambler who loses everything that can’t stop or is he asking in general.

If its in general gambling is not something to feel shameful for, its entertaining to gamble. If he means being a gambler and losing everything and putting your hard earn cash into gambling than that could be shameful so it depends on what he was asking.

Yeah true, people who stuggle with culture, religion or their addiction towards gambling is another story. I can imagine some people feel ashamed about it. Good thing I don't.

When I started to gamble, I never think of being ashamed because I know already that it is very fun to gamble. Regrets will only happen along the way when at times we will not be responsible due to the fact that we can lose control and will not be able to implement our game plan properly. But aside from that, we lose in gambling but we are still enjoying what we are doing. Maybe that is the reason why we are staying.

People will have different feeling while playing gambling because they will feel shy to share the news to his friends and family when the won money through gambling. Because many people have feeling that gambling is an illegal activity.

I do not think that gamblers will feel ashamed for sharing their winning experience but definitely they will feel ashamed for losing experience to share. It is common human nature to hide their losses so gamblers also will be feeling ashamed to share losses. But if gambling is in illegal activity then both winning and losses will be the same.

Yes if someone will win money in gambling then at that time he do not feel shame because they think to be lucky and they feel proud-full among others and he will tell to everyone in the time if he will not more gamble especially in the society where gambling is not thought as good thing.

they are not jealous, but most people view gambling as something not good, so it is normal that they view gambler as not a good person. Not a jealousy. And if illegal, people will also look at people who gamble as not a good person, because it is forbidden, but still do. Your statement suggests strongly vanity.

It's what you do with your own money, that is your own problem. I agree with you and others don't have a say with it EXCEPT if you are addicted to it. If it is destroying relationships and forgetting your responsibilities, that is not good. You should be ashamed of yourself that you are not in control. That's the time you should be ashamed. Assess yourself whether you're on the right side or not.

I believe in you ! We have the same Idea ! As long as you dont hurt anyone feelings and just yourself then you are good ! There is nothing to be ashamed of If you only lose your money except if you are losing your family money including your  son budget to schools then stop and start to feel ashamed !!!

Losing it is just a drug addicted there is still bad effect for that i you are just losing your money and you can hurt someone or your self.. its not a good idea it could be ashamed. much better to just to gamble if you really looking for entertainment and fun, and you have a proper limitation for your self .. dont fool your self in gambling that 3 paths that can bring gambling to you either to be fun or to win or to lose too much..
If you are just limiting your self in gambling you will not lose too much and you are just gamble for fun and i think you can not feel shameful with that way..

Yup it will depend on the place where we live. For example, if you live in Las Vegas you don't feel shame because it's gamblers dream country. And everyone will play gambling and full city with only casinos. But in your country gambling is illegal and people will treat gamblers like robbers etc. then for you online gambling is good. You can do hidden gambling. I am staying in this type of country.

Not in some place alone but in all places but civilisation has made things easier where people can go into big casinos and gamble away their money but I think that the disdain the society gives to gambling is because the people playing it are never to do well which means if anyone should join in, then he/she is going that part and that's where the shame comes in and me personally won't engage in it where the society can judge me as we are part of the big family and there is nothing one can do about it.

There is nothing to be shameful as I am playing gamble with my own money and as long as others are not disturbed it is fine for me. All my friends and family know I am doing gambling both online and offline even there I do in company of my friends. I am not greedy that is which prevent me from troubles and well balanced gambling is good to go for me.

That's really a healthy approach to gambling. I think if your gambling hurts no one you shouldn't be ashamed of it. But you have to be cautious because as far as I know many gambling addicts were starting with healthy approach at the beginning.

That's it, as long as you stay happy in gambling and you were able to balance things out, not sacrificing your happiness in life because of gambling, then I guess it is alright to gamble. In fact, gambling was created to give us entertainment so there is nothing we should be ashamed of.
It could be illegal in some countries but it doesn't mean it's a bad thing, if it is, then the whole world would simply ban gambling.

The key here is not to listen to others because we have to live our life the way we should want it to be.

Exactly, that is why we need to be careful with our move and we have to stay in control. We will not gonna like it when gambling will be dictating everything, we don't want to live in gambling alone as we have life and we can do more to have a joyful life.

I have been in a situation where I was shameful when losing the money that I supposed not to gamble and I regret that time and correct my mistakes.

That's the biggest problem of today's society. They don't let people enjoy their life or let them do something they actually wanna do. I think the people who say to you that gambling is bad, illegal , etc they should ignore those people and enjoy their life.

Gambling and drugs and all the other things that are illegal are bad for the individual and/or for the society. Some believe that one must be able to do whatever they want to do as long as it doesn't affect other people. For example, one can do drugs and gamble whole day long as long as they don't hurt other people. It's their body, let them do whatever they want to do, right? That's what people must be thinking. When democracy was implemented, freedom was taken in a much different way than the government expected. Today, freedom means the sky is the limit. Freedom means that doing whatever you want without anyone interrupting you at all.

Well I agree that drugs can disturb other people as most people get 'high'. But gambling? How does gambling affect other people. He has money he goes to casinos which are legit and registered with all the documents , etc. But no still people have problem with that because he is gambling. The problem of the people is they have a mindset that gambling is bad, illegal even though most of the times it isn't , but I think the best solution is to ignore those people who have a problem with you because you gamble.

Yes if you are this type of gambler and you should really be ashamed of yourself and don't let your relatives that you are in gambling. Because if know that gambling pulls you down, you're dead now.

Let's just say that this gambler has a family just like most of us. As a member of that family, he has to contribute financially, give time to his family, and show some actual efforts to prove that he cares about his family. If you gamble, you cannot give them money because you would end up having very little money. You wouldn't have time as well because you're busy gambling. And you wouldn't have the time to show actual efforts to prove that you love them because you're broke and busy.

Please don't play dumb because it's pretty easy to imagine these things. Not all of the time "don't care about other people" mindset works. At the end, it would have consequences to you like missing out the little things..
