Do you feel shameful for being a gambler?

I am surprised I haven't seen this thread before. Shameful for being a gambler ? Maybe, in the early days where I didn't use to win money and had ups and downs playing poker. But ever since I have become better in poker, and sportsbetting, I don't consider these to be pure gambling, so it brings no shame to me.

Betting on pure gambles does however make me a little ashamed.

That is true, gambling in sports betting and poker is different. In those kinds of gambling, it requires a lot of skill and it is more like a profession better than a gambling game. You can't make dice games gamblers a profession since there is no way you can influence your luck if you have so much skill and experience in those games.

I'm not ashamed because I gamble, why would I be? I'm doing something that I like and there is no reason for shame. I gamble responsible, and I never lost more then I can handle. I'm sure that addicts feel ashamed because they lost someone else's money, and they are in deep problems because of the gambling, they have reason to feel ashamed for their activity, me no! Yes and there is nothing wrong in gambling and I don't see any reason to be ashamed of it as after all we are not disclosing to people around us that we are into gambling as we can easily do it with bitcoins and no one around you would come to know about that.

That's the hardest part when we gamble or being a gambler. When someone has to see our times of being a loser especially with bigger amounts. Though it really doesn't matter as it is our own money used for gambling. It is shameful if we used to gamble with the money that we are not owning. It's a shameful thing for being a gambler.

As long as you not gambling your life savings away or letting it effect your family it should be alright. Spending a night out at the casino getting some drinks and a meal is a good time. yes that is the point that we feel shameful when we lose our money and almost all of the gamblers will feel like that and they often do not tell to others about their loses when they lose their money while when they win they tell to everyone about that victory.

That's correct dude, we have to set an amount that we can afford to lose and we have to strictly stick with that budget, otherwise we will lose more.
Gambling is really a very expensive game if you will allow yourself to spend more, the more you will lose if you are getting greedy of the possible winnings you can bag, think only of your chances and you will understand that you have a lower chance than the house.

Well i think being shameful doesn't reallyvdepend on whether you're winning or losing though. There's nothing to be ashamed of with losing ad long as you play cleanly and you play with money that you can actually afford to play with. It just gets embarassing if you're playing beyond your means and your gambling affects other people's lives and livelihood

I don't feel shameful for being a gambler. People don't know I am a gambler as long as I am gambling with bitcoin. The only times when I go to a land casino is on friday or saturday night with friends or with my girlfriend to have fun playing poker , blackjack and roulette. I think there are some things that make it normal if someone feels ashamed of being a gambler. For example if you ruin your life. As you said, when you lose everything in your life for gambling, it is a shameful thing if known by others. And also if the place you live gambling regarded as illegal activities. Doing so is considered bad by the environment around other than to embarrass you, also could embarrass your family, people can look at you and your family as a family that is not good.

Well if you are a gambler who is using just his own money in gambling and don't have any debts, well if you do but you are paying it, then yes, there is nothing to be ashamed of. But, if you are the opposite, I could say that you should be ashamed of yourself. Also, if gambling is not legal in your country, and in your religion, but still you are still gambling secretly, then it is the most shameful thing that you could ever do.

Even if gambling is illegal but I don't think it's a big crime, we are just a gamblers of a players and we are not operating a gambling sites.
With the help of crypto currencies we were able to hide our real identity and that gives us a comfort in gambling, we know that it's illegal then
we should know how to counter it not to be caught to continue enjoying gambling.
