First of all, what has happened to one thing isn't always the same thing that's going to happen to another. Digital currency is very different than search engine. You can earn money from digital currency, you can trade, convert your fiat to bitcoins, and vice versa. While google and yahoo are just a search engine. You don't have to pay anything to access it. You can easily prefer one over another and don't have any problem since it's free. You basically just have to type their website and use it.

Bitcoins, on the other hand, is much more than that. It's money and there's an actual economy here. Switching from one coin to another might be a loss for you since the coin that you switched to can get price decrease.

tl;dr: There's no loss or anything bad that can happen to you when you switch from using Yahoo to Google, while there are risks when you switch from using Bitcoin to another coin.

The reason was answered right at this forum, it was answered by the number of forum participants, by the status of the forum, everything, all of us, all activities and activities. Doing it shows that we love bitcoin, we work for it and use it. Yes the popularity of bitcoin is well known right now I am seeing every movie's and media entertainment are showing some support by including maybe just one word the bitcoin name on their shows and some advertisement right now even if not showing the full potential of bitcoin on it, or explaining it on air some people are getting curious because of that slick move! I think it is still hard to guess if the value of bitcoin will go down or up and that is the puzzle that we users are trying to solve if what kind of value bitcoin would give us.

That's surely a puzzle for us because we do not know what will really happen, the recent big price fallback is very alarming but guess what I'm still holding my bitcoins and I will not panic like the others are doing.

I believe it will be back to normal and since there is no relevant news that I have read on why the price fall that big, then I would assume it's just normal and just focus on the future to come. As long as we are monitoring the price and the relevant news, we can always make a decision that is based on our evaluation and I know we differ on that matter.

Yup! it is simply not going to get us down if we had a different decisions than the other users of bitcoin like what I did I just calmly convert it when it is still $1200 something then a couple of minute it went down to $1179 I just focus and think twice in what to do then convert it back to bitcoin, I had a workmate that tells me that it will do down this march so he will not convert it to bitcoin but I did what I think was right and then thankfully the price when up as of now to $1202.51

i think bitcoin is always number one in the internet especially in crypto currency business but for the other place, i don't think bitcoin have this position too. i think its because bitcoin is a new thing that only available in internet so far and it needs more years to see bitcoin will be number one in offline life. beside that, only a few people from all country that will know bitcoin and use bitcoin for daily and it needs more spreading news about bitcoin to many people in real life.

Bitcoin may not always be number one.

Let me explain.

Many who use Bitcoin now do so because they shared a piece of Satoshi's brilliant vision.

Part of that brilliant vision was network security provided by mining hash rate. Hash rate is incentivized through transaction fees. Blockstream is pushing for a model where most transactions take place outside the blockchain, and thus any fees related to those transactions do not go to the miners. With lower incentives to mine, we lose hash rate security. Now we have lots of transactions taking place off chain that can easily be nullified by a 51% attack on the chain changing the SegWit transactions used to open the channel.

It is very conceivable that if blockstream gets its way, a community driven alt coin will emerge that sticks to Satoshi's original vision with the advantage of hind sight, meaning many of the issues SegWit is suppose to fix can be fixed by the consensus rules without SegWit and transactions can be designed to work better with hardware wallets without SegWit.

Such a coin could have a client blockchain that unlike bitcoin-core is optimized for SSDs from the start (much like libbitcoin is) reducing the load on PCs that already have SSDs, and it would probably be at least three years before the blockchain grew to even 100 GB - making it easy for users to adopt and run full nodes.

If it stuck to existing proof of work mechanisms, then existing bitcoin miners could mine it as they left bitcoin mining - adding to the hash rate and security of the coin. Professional mining is good for crypto-currencies, I think a lot of people do not understand that, but it really is.

Such a coin could easily displace bitcoin as the number one crypto-currency on the market.

I hope it doesn't come to that, I hope bitcoin gets bigger blocks. But I would embrace such a coin if LN is the future and such a coin emerged, as long as stupid sh*t like pre-mining and ICO didn't ruin it from the start.

Now the name have added value to it. Bitcoin from the beginning evolved as a store of value and then based on the acceptance it grew higher in all fields. As quoted dogecoin seems to be a good name but it's value outcomes only if the coin grows potentially.

I got your point with the name Bitcoin itself. Yes it is something like a cathy word that some people will be curious behind that bitcoins without knowing where it used or exist .Ethereum is too far different from bitcoins but i think there are some altcoin names that are also catchy .But in the end what matters most is bitcoins as it is the father of all Cryptocurrency.
