P2Pool release 3.0 tag: 3.0 hash: a4cde222d397b47ae5646ca74a8036025d745df8

Windows binary: http://u.forre.st/u/lgljvrzx/p2pool_win32_3.0.zip
Source zipball: https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool/zipball/3.0
Source tarball: https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool/tarball/3.0

Changes:
* P2Pool will "skip ahead" to building on blocks not yet processed by the local bitcoind based on block headers received from P2Pool peers. This should significantly reduce the number of orphaned blocks we have if everyone upgrades.
* Latency/high CPU usage caused by requesting shares from old nodes is fixed by now not downloading shares more than a day old

This change increments the share version to 3, so once 50% of people upgrade, the rest will be notified by messages on their P2Pool console. So, please upgrade! Note that this isn't a hard fork of the P2Pool chain, so old nodes will continue to work, only spamming the upgrade messages.

I'm pointing one of my miners to a local instance of this... hoping it works better than last time.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

What is with all the orphans? Is the large block size too much for miners with slow uplinks?

Seems like the LP's is affecting p2pool aswell, pretty sure those dips come at new block LP's.

Anyway can I connect to P2pool using BAMT? Anybody done it yet?

Yes you can.  But I would HIGHLY recommend not trying to run p2pool or bitcoind on the BAMT rig.  You should set up a separate server to run them on, then point your BAMT rig to the p2pool server there.

Those are P2Pool stales, which don't directly affect block finding.

Hello all, thanks forrestv i think P2Pool is fantastic.

I am a real noob  Grin and not very clever setting up technical stuff.

3 days ago i setup GUminer and Bitcoin and P2Pool and had it all running, GUminer said i was running at 61Mhash
and P2Pool was working really well and when i looked at P2Pool's stats i was getting about 57Mhash.

2 nights ago i upgraded to the newer version and now on the stats page my Hash rate is listed as only 7 yet GUminer still says 61.

I have a screen shot of my setup, can anyone throw some light on what i am doing wrong.

EDIT now my stats do not even show me as active.
Thx
Peter

PS excuse the label on guminer says p2pmining but i forgot to change it to p2pool.
I have a 300Mhash card on order  Grin
