Steamboat

I'm in batch 6 and haven't received any emails from you regarding refunds.
I request a refund on the chips, hosting and 25% on assembly.
Thanks for all your efforts on this project.

Good point. It's almost certain that batch one will get "stuck" as you say with die-hards and people that just don't care.

It's been stated that no one will be forced to take a refund. It would be nice to see it explicitly stated that one one will be denied a refund either.

Common sense should tell you that that is impossible (or mathematically exceedingly unlikely).

The sebastianju / zefir approach, was to refund a batch if more than 50% wanted to refund. They are effectively screwing some people who wanted chips or boards instead of a refund (i.e. forced refunding) in favour of a majority who asked for a refund. Steamboat is doing the opposite, he is only refunding batches once requests cover an entire batch, therefore practically guaranteeing that some people who ask for a refund will not get one, in favour of some who either want chips / boards or cannot be bothered to reply. Either way someone gets screwed. (Unless the number of people who want chips / boards adds up to a multiple of 10,000).
But fact is that majority (more then 50%) want to have refund because that chip is refunded in original btc paid amount. Those chips now does not worth such money and majority agree in such. Also chip count matters and not individuals buyers. Buyer who bought 1000 chips has maybe different approach of somebody who bought 16 enough for one board.

btw
sebastianju got a email stating that his batch will be shippied within 12hrs

I don't think you understand steamboat's posts and his refund procedure.

Where did you read that I was mentioned steamboat refund procedure?
There is nothing rational of forcing ones who want to refund to get overprices chips.

Where did you read that I was mentioned steamboat refund procedure?

Might have misunderstood your post, but basically what I mean is that given the refund procedure it doesn't matter what 50% of people want (by chip count) or what they agree regarding what chips are worth. Bottom line is there will be a split batch where some people want a refund and some do not, and that batch will be delivered, even if there are 8,000 outstanding refund requests. Because there will be no forced refunding for the 2,000.

I understand that, but think its not rational because majority should count more then minority. I agree with cardcoom post.

Looks like Zefirs April orders are on the way, 2 1/2 months late.  Lets all not forget it is Avalon that broke that now infamous   " The no bullshit, no fine print terms of sale".

May Avalon burn in hell.

We do not however have a fully functioning K16 at this time.

We have organized the collaborative efforts of ourselves, two Klondike based assembly companies, and several individuals within the community with software and hardware debugging experience to troubleshoot the design. As a result, we have determined the source of and corrected the hardware flaw resulting in proof of work not being read correctly, and the units are now hashing on a single bank of 8 chips at a time. We are actively troubleshooting the firmware issue which causes errors when both banks of chips are used at the same time. We will continue to debug the design until it is fully functional, and will be sending units to several people working on the project, in addition to those we have already shipped, for further troubleshooting. Currently updating the firmware does require a PIC programmer and does not support updating via USB.

Question for everyone:

Does anyone have a fully functioning k16 anywhere?

I believe Terrahash claims to, but it's doubtful and I don't really trust him. 8-chip boards are fully functional.

Chips have likely shipped for batches 1 and 2 of this group buy and should arrive in 10? days. Maybe we get twice as many K8s and SB can clear out more inventory?

Yeah, a split batch is pretty much a certainty. It would be nice to see Steamboat address this issue ASAP i.e. Sooner than 8 days.

As for SB last updates where he says "We have requested and received refunds for Batches 5 and 6". I feel kinda stupid. I was foolishly waiting for part 2 of his update which he said would be issued "shortly". I'm pretty pissed at this point to see that he WAS IN FACT processing refunds. I realize he sent out the refund request form, but I was under the impression that we would see "part two" of the update BEFORE he started processing refunds.

It would have been REALLY nice to see some posts like "Hey guys, batch 6 refund requested, Hey guys, batch 5 refunds requested". Basically I waited for nothing.

This piss poor situation was made orders of magnitude worse by terrible communication. IMO, SB reputation is seriously harmed by one thing, and one thing only: A failure to communicate. I'm trying hard to accept his "apology", but I'm finding it pretty fucking hard to swallow that we JUST NOW hear refunds were already requested.

It seems to me that with all the refund requests, the "batch numbers" are gonna become pretty fuzzy. Maybe what you're really asking is if someone wants to sell the miners they get stuck with when their batch doesn't get enough refund takers.

Considering all the delays and the given situation, I would be highly surprised if there are more than 1 or 2 batches that don't get refunds.  In other words, If you do not request a refund, and you already have purchased a miner, you are automatically being moved to batch 1 or 2.  Everyone else that asks for a refund will be moved to batches 3, 4, 5, and 6.

If you do not currently have a purchased miner, I would be interested in selling you mine.  My original purchase was in batch 5, for 32 chips, and full assembly on both units.  As I suspect many batches will be refunded, If I do nothing, I will continually be bumped to prior batches as more refunds are requested.

I think snare rolls should be used as a currency.

Since the chips STILL are not here, I have requested a full refund for all my chips in group buys 1,2,3,4 and 5 through the form.

Also, I've requested assembly refunds (if any), as well.

Please check your e-mail steambizzle as well.

It was a good try in good faith. These things happen. Hell, I've lost way more in the stock market, this is nothing.

From what I have seen so far, marto74 is the ONLY one that has a working K16 with all 16 chips. On top of that it seems that he managed to get 450MHz per chip totalling 7.2 GH/s per K16.

That's the HEX16 design, not the K16 design, from what I've read on that thread. I'm glad somebody has something working.

The HEX16 is based on the K16 design. Same as the Fusion 16.

Check the OP.
