Digital, you mentioned virwox as one of you're btc selling sites of choice. Does it take a while to get usd out of there? I've got a bunch in BTC-E i'm gonna unload when the price recovers and need a better/faster place to dump some coins. Thanks in advance.

Not at all.  But only if you use paypal.

I always use paypal.  Usually it takes a couple hours total.  And that includes confirmations.

Here's the process (it was a little confusing for me at first):

You deposit btc into your virwox wallett, wait for them to confirm
Sell the BTC for SLL
Sell the SLL for USD
Withdraw the USD via paypal.

Sometimes there is a delay before the paypal transaction gets proessed, but I've never had the total process take more than 6 hours.  And it works just as easy in reverse.  In my opinion it's the best way to buy and sell btc via paypal.

EDIT:  Fair warning though, it tends to be a little more pricey than waiting.  But for me it's worth the extra cost for getting my money (or btc) fast.

And what is the fee at the end ?

Yes, BFL is shipping. Only Jalapenos, but they've got the first month worth of orders out the door.

I had a look, they've shipped 35 pcs and only half of that to customers, half got redactors and whoever knows.

Where's the panic? They promissed tens of thousands chips, that means at least hundreds devices in the first batch. From their informations, they shipped only 35 pcs (lol?) and about the rest, *no* informations. That means probably next month as we know them…

I also can confirm one Jalapeno in real-life shipped to an average user in Austria (who brought it to our last Bitcoin-Austria community meeting and allowed me to test it for an hour or so on my laptop Cheesy). We also received our USB Block Erupter group buy package on this meeting.

The difficulty changes are designed to keep blocks being found at a steady pace.  So when the total hash rate of the network goes up, and blocks start getting found faster, the difficulty will go up so that blocks will continue to be found at the same rate.

That's how we can predict when the next block halving will be.  It's all about math.  And the reason your reward goes down, is because there is more hashing power finding about the same amount of blocks.  So if you don't increase your hash power at the same rate the network/pool hash rate increases, then your share of the pie will get smaller.

So the lower hashrate is specific to me, correct?  What I SHOULD see is the same hashrate, the same payout just less often.

nottm28 covered it in pretty good detail, but yeah you should see the same hashrate, but with a little LOWER payout, just as often.  At least in the current circumstances, where the total hash rate keeps going up.

And keep in mind, this is all talking in averages.  There will be variance in all the numbers, but they even out over time.

Well the problem isn't on my end.  My side is showing a constant hashrate, but I've most definitely dropped in Slush's "average".  It estimates approximately 600 MH/s less than what I'm putting out.  Do I need to restart all my workers?  What's up?

Edit: It's also dropping my number of shares and my reward per block.

So I think I may have figured it out.  My workers were all pointed to api2.bitcoin.cz.  I switched them over to stratum.bitcoin.cz (which has previously never worked for me; I had to let it divert me) and this morning my rewards and my hashing appears to be back to normal.

Hey guys! I've got a question about "Discarded work".
I use CGminer with the CGWatcher frontend. the program however always states that about 1/3 of my"shares accepted" are "Discarded" i.e. Shares accepted = 1000, Discarded = 300.    I have tried several fixes but now have no idea.....

Any advice?

Discarded - work from block that is no longer valid to work on.  In new versions of CGMiner discarded work it is no longer displayed. To same extend discarded work is 'good' because it reduces rejected or stale shares.

Now it is safe to do maintenance - new round at 20min (not a short one) and the long one have ended ... you have 15min for maintenance and not loose too much even if the round ends soon

Grin Kinda getting know of that. I think I am getting another HD 5670…that makes them two plus HD 6570 and one HD 6670 (this runs only 16 h/day, my desktop). That is ~32 TH/d…

And I have just yesterday upgraded to new board and added the first HD 5670! Must get the flexible ×1-×16 PCIe adapters…

According to the latest update from BFL_Jody, they've shipped most orders through the end of July 2012. Looking the the unofficial order queue at http://bfl.ptz.ro/  they show about 250 Jalapanos delivered. If only ~50% of people who ordered Jalapenos entered their information there (which seems a safe assumption judging by the gaps in order numbers), then around 500 units were delivered. At 5Gh each, that would add ~2.5Th to the network.

Of course, I'm making some big assumptions based on incomplete data, so I could be way off.

Aren't you making data from your ass? According to their official support forums they've shipped 35 units last month. They never ever shipped anything before that so I don't understand that year 2012 in your post…

As for that, they should have had several wafers in initial batch which could be several tens of thousands chips according to yeld (which is reported a very good). Last time I have checked, there have been way more than 100000 orders. So even if they shipped 500 someday, that is only tiny fraction of what they promised and even tinier of what ppl ordered.

They've probably shipped at least a couple of thousand units according to Jody's shpping blog.
Anyways, it's getting obvious bitcoin mining is killing itself by overfertilization. A couple of song lyrics come to mind:
"Now the party's over, and I'm so tired" (AVALON, Bryan Ferry)
"As sure as God made wine, you can't wrap your arms around a memory" (BUTTERFLY on a wheel, Mission)
