Wow... I just barely made enough to cover electricity in the last 24 hrs and I'm running FPGAs and a Raspberry Pi.  I need to get solar power or something.

You would need solar power for free. otherwise you would be wasting money.

It does what you mentioned in the last section of your second to last post.

https://github.com/generalfault/stratum-mining/blob/master/conf/config_sample.py

scroll down to the Pool Difficulty Settings

It actually checks every 300 secs to see if the miner is doing at least one share per a 30 seconds. Was on a phone before when I posted, so sorry for not meeting the aggressive citation and link checking for your needs.

The sample configuration file you're mentioning reveals that the software you're pointing to can be set to do dynamic difficulty setting in the way that it seeks to obtain one share each 30 s from the client and does check/retarget every 300 s.
(It than checks whether the client sends approximately one share per 30 seconds, with a preset tolerance. Tolerance both up and down. That is, not "if the miner is doing at least one share per a 30 seconds".)

I've not seen any mention of Slush's pool using dynamic difficulty, however. In the list "Comparison..." that I've mentioned, Slush's pool is listed as "User", which I understand the way that only the user (client) can set the share difficulty used.

So my opinion continues to be that this (dynamic difficulty and any accompanying time intervals) doesn't apply to Slush's pool.

BTW, I've met nothing about the first 30 seconds after connection, that had started this thread, on the way.
