I know we had an invalid block, but I thought something was wrong with my total as well. Like I refreshed it after being away all day, and it barely went up. It was the first time I noticed an invalid block, and I know there was only about 2 other rounds all day, but it was almost like it subtracted the invalid block amount from my balance.

I could just be seeing things.

If you are looking at your "Total reward:", remember that it is a combination of your "Confirmed reward" (that which has already been confirmed) and your "Unconfirmed reward" (that which is yet to be confirmed). If a block is "Orphaned" in the process of getting all its confirmations, then it is no longer considered a part of the "Unconfirmed reward" and is then not considered in the "Total reward", so yes, it is subtracted from the "Total reward". Effectively, the "Total reward" is what you will bank if each of the pending blocks is "confirmed". The only money that you actually have in the bank is the "Confirmed reward" and that value doesn't change if a pending block is determined invalid.

yay a block
Yay, two blocks in 28 hours! Glad I was mining somewhere else Grin

Nah. Watching the BTC Guild or any of the other big ones sausage factory run is boring. I prefer the randomness with Slush. Really, even when it's a down day it adds some suspense to an otherwise mundane operation. That and with Slush you get a sense of community where the other big one's are impersonal.

With Slush its more of an emotional roller-coaster ride.

Its all about the group hug when we finally win that long round.

It looks like the new Ants S2 and other ASIC's are in their 'test' phase, way too many blocks are being found by some private pools in the last few days Roll Eyes
By the time they get delivered to their new owners, many of them would have paid it-selves  Cheesy
Sadly there isn't really any other SHA-256 currency offering better profitability than Bitcoin, so most of them would be pointed at Bitcoin, increasing the difficulty sharply  Angry

Difficulty jump was just 18% to 5006860589, so the great flood of hyper-TH miners has not reached the shores yet... Smiley

Think exponential function. That amounts to adding about 7000TH. Are you sure you don't call this a lot?

As reward has a linear relation to the difficulty value, this increase means that for the same hash rate, the reward will decrease by 18%.  Or if you want to maintain the reward rate, you need to increase the hash rate by about 22%.

My USB miners were lit up solid lights this morning. So I restart BFGMiner and now I can't connect to the pool. Any idea why?  Credentials are fine. Wondering what's up never had this issue before.
