I'm going to order a Temperature/Humidity meter to mount on the wall in this closet from Amazon.  Probably order it this evening.  I'm curious what temperature it will remain consistent at during the winter in this 122 cubic feet closet without an air conditioner.

The garage stays pretty cool during the winter.  So, it will pool in cool air from the garage into the closet through the lower rectangular vent; then up and around the equipment as it heads up to the ceiling and out the circular vent with the 720 CFM exhaust fan.

Remind you, the closet is 122 Cubic Feet (CF) and I'm hooking up a 720 CFM exhaust fan.

1.5 minutes into this video, this fan wants to blow itself off of the table.

Depends on how much power you're dissipating in the closet and the outside air temperature. If I read it right and you plan to have 11 S4s and 18 S3s in there, you don't have anywhere near enough ventilation in there. That's 20kW of power, and you're going to need way more air movement to keep temps down even if you have cold intake air.

I was thinking the same thing as well.  It's more of an experiment at the moment with 16 S3's [for now] and one S4 soon to come.  I need to make approximately 0.7 more BTC to order it from Bitmaintech.com.  Could be less than that if the price of BTC had not gone down the way it has the last 48 hours.

I can easily throw in another 14" by 6" vent and another 8 inch or even 10 inch Hyper Fan.

We'll see what happens with the 16 S3's with what I have presently after I get that Thermometer/Humidity Meter from Amazon.

720 CFM is a LOT of CFM's compared to the fans of the Antminer's.  But yes, when I do have up to probably 6 or 8 S4's along with 16 S3's, I may need to add another Hyper Fan and another vent.  We will know for sure after I have things in their running and a thermometer.

It's really not. I have a pretty similar setup to what you are doing, though I don't have as much gear.

The two 20" fans are these ones, rated at 6800CFM. The window's been closed in so all the air through the fans is fresh from outside.

I'm pulling about 15kW, and seeing about a 20-25C rise in temperature from intake to exhaust with the two 20" fans.

Thanks for the info!!!  Sorry it took a while to get back.  I went back to Lowe's again [For a 4th time today] to get some L-Brackets.  You will see the two L-Brackets underneath the piece of wood you see the Hyper Fan mounted to.

I've installed the 8 inch Hyper Fan:

I felt a LOT of air blowing out of the 14" x 6" vent on the bottom.  However, it was blowing down to the floor.  I decided to flip it upside down so the air blows up to the equipment when I put it in the closet.

I also believe I will need to install one more Hyper Fan when I add more S4's.  The next Hyper Fan I get will be a 10 inch.  I will also install one more 14" x 6" vent going into the garage AND one more 14" x 6" vent VERTICALLY to the left side of the closet door entrance underneath the light switch.  That should bring in more cool air from the recreation room.  The air feels pretty cool already coming from the garage through the present one I have already installed.  Those two (2) fans and three (3) vents should be sufficient... I HOPE!!!

The reason I want my rigs in the closet is because I'm about to finish my recreation room.  It's actually going to be my man cave with big screen TV.  It's a 12.5 feet x 25 feet room.  I have some french doors I need to install to the entrance of the recreation room.  I have a big leather sectional that can seat 11 people to put down there as well.  I want to make it look nice but the miners would interfere with watching TV down there.  I believe the noise will be fine with everything in the closet.  If anything, it will be like white noise down there.  It will easily be drowned out by the sound system when watching TV.

They seem to be doing fine in there for now.  I'm going to be monitoring the temperature on them over the next hour.

I do believe I will need another Hyper Fan and install another 14" x 6" vent when I get more miners (S4's).

It is nice to no longer have 4 box fans going.  It's much quieter now.

If your fan is blowing into the garage you may find it will get quite warm in there.

Agreed.

It gets VERY cold in the garage in the winter.  3 of our 4 bedrooms are over the garage.  I've put brazilian rosewood flooring in all the bedrooms, living room and hallway.  The floors in the bedrooms are especially cold during the winter.  I was kind of hoping it would warm up the garage; which in turn would warm up our wood floors.

I plan to add a "T" duct onto this exhaust fan in the Spring.  One part of the "T" will allow heat into the garage and the other part will continue with duct to the outside.  I can put an end cap on the part of the "T" that opens to the garage in the Spring.  I figured I could hold off on installing the "T" duct until just before Spring.

I'm presently looking for a small window air conditioner to install down low in the wall of the closet.  I would run a hose from the drip pan of the window air conditioner to my HVAC unit's water pump that pumps condensation outside.  Thought they could just share that pump that sends the condensation outside.

Good plan. Use ur miners for heat in the winter reduces heating costs. It's like heaters that pay for their own consumption.

I found a 5,000 BTU Fridgidare  Air Conditioner I'm getting from Lowe's tomorrow.  It is 16" wide, 12" high & 11" deep.  This will be perfect for the Mining/Data Closet.

It has 328 outstanding reviews.  I'm also going to purchase a Lowe's extra 3 year warranty.  The plus side is how QUIET everyone says this thing is compared to other air conditioners.

It's $119.00 + TAX + 3 year Lowe's warranty.

The temperature on my S3's was getting ranging from 48 to 53 with the door closed.  When I opened the door and put a big box fan at the entrance to blow on them, the temp ranges from 41 to 45.

I had them at 35 to 39 in that big open recreation room with 4 box fans going.

I bet that air conditioner will do the trick for that closet.  It's only 35 pounds as well.

Cools up to a 150 sq ft room
Effortless clean antibacterial filter reduces bacteria, room odors, and other airborne particles for a cool and comfortable environment
Features 2 different fan speeds, for more cooling flexibility
Effortless restart automatically resumes operating at its previous settings when the power is restored to your unit
Comes with an extra long three-prong cord
Optional side panels extend so you can adjust the unit to fit your window [I won't be needing those]
Mechanical controls [Did not need a fancy remote - keeps costs down]

I will be doing away with that 14" x 6" vent and cutting a larger opening to allow for the air conditioner.  I will have to make some modifications with wood to make a frame for the air conditioner to mount properly.

I will need to get some 1/2 inch pvc to run approximately 12 feet over to my share my condensation pump for my House HVAC unit to pump the condensation outside.

This ought to work sweeeeeeeeeeet.

I HOPE... Grin

What is the temperature like in the room the fan is blowing to?

Are you talking about the exhaust fan blowing from the closet into the garage?

OR

Are you taking about the box fan at the opening of the closet door blowing air from the recreation room into the closet?

I did have box fans in two windows in the recreation room blowing air from outside into the recreation room along with two other fans blowing on the miners.

Now, it's just the one box fan blowing on the miners with the windows closed and the exhaust fan sucking air into the garage.

What is the temperature like in the room the fan is blowing to?

I went back down and opened up one window and put a box fan in it.

It is 60 degrees Fahrenheit outside.  So, it ought to cool things down a little more down there.  It was 74 degrees in the recreation room.  So, I thought I might ought to open a window and put a fan in it.
