I'm sure this must have been proposed already, and maybe it doesn't work, but if you added a "finders keepers" option to the pool; that would give you more BTC if you find a block from others that also tick that box, I would certainly tick it! It doesn't have to be much, or maybe you can have multiple values so you will get extra BTC when you find a block in proportion to the others that are in your group. Say 5%, 25% and 50%...

Everyone that doesn't tick the box are unaffected so this would only add a little more "game" for the "perceived as lucky".

I suggested the following in the development corner:
At the end of each week give everyone that found one or more confirmed blocks during the week a 0.3 BTC bonus. Could even add a weekly bonus section to "Hall of Fame" or a separate "Bonus Awards" section to the pool stats. This would be a special acknowledgement that will especially make small miners (who do not find blocks often or will never make current "Hall of Fame") happy while not significantly reducing the payout to other pool members.

Been waiting for "admin review" for about 2 months.

Hot time, summer in the city, back of my mine getting hot & gritty!!!

Dunno, mining is volatile and not on a set schedule.  I thought it was a nice holiday reward.   Smiley

its not about people turning off they miners …. Its about these data centers shutting down … they have not only electricity costs but facility costs … thats what needs to happen… END of story … the home miners need to hang in there and send these cloud mining operations to bankruptcy court .

Tell me about it .... 26hrs+ and counting ... what a day! that and the bitcoin price .... I don't blame you man, at least on slush, but if the block were ticking over, I'd keep mining up until the entire system imploded or I went broke, whichever first.

Current CDF according to slush's stats is 99.6%.  That means you'd expect a block this long 1 out of every 250 rounds on average.

EDIT:  To clarify, this is a counter to the "something is fishy/something is up" idiots above.  While 1 in 250 might sound rare, that's probably in the once every 4-6 weeks range [on average].

This question, my friends, is a need to know type question.

Is there a discernible slowdown in the number of blocks being solved on the network in the past week or so, and could that explain the barren patch that the evergreen slush seems to have hit?

The blue line is the 7 day window estimate, so the estimate has gone down. That could be a response to the price decline, or a return to closer to the true value from the earlier spike.

Network hashrate has nothing to do with slush on the short term though. It's only our hashrate and the current difficulty. As eleuthria said, the current CDF is 99.75, so a block this long should come along once in 400 blocks. At 3.4% of the network, you'd expect a block this bad about every 75 days.

Welcome to day 75.

I believe in a pool being unlucky SOMETIME,  but I do not believe in a pool being unlucky ALL THE TIME!  SOMETHING IS FISHY HERE!
This requires a mention.
You are either too new to slush or you have a very short memory. Just over a week ago, slush was finding 8+ blocks a day, I think the last big harvest was 10 blocks in one day, and that just over a week ago!
