Well.  People keep adding so much more hashing power and removing it all the time...Thus it brings us long blocks.    If we stayed at 1 simple speed without it changing like 2-5+ times in just 1 week.      It sucks a week or so ago.  We were solving blocks like it was raining.   Now.  We solving them like turtles.    Slow and Steadily.

I wonder if people will stop hopping and increasing/decreasing their hash power.

Who am i kidding..... Why would people stop... that would be to easy

Please read and understand Cris ! Thank You !

I dont understand why people always say that.  It wouldnt be posted if i didnt read and understand it.  just stating the obvious thats all.  Than sadly you have those super critical people.    Shit if you dont like the post or the wording.  Dont comment.. simple as that.   Instead of commenting to make a big deal about it

Sorry my English is bad. I just wanted to emphasize that your theory is more than good! Minors must stop changing pool every 5 minutes when luck has left us for only a few hours ..

how long can coin sit in slush's pool under the 5 btc limit. with out the miner actively mining?

..I'm thinking I'm gonna claim this as mining income after jan 1st so getting close to auto pay out (with IRS it is when it hits your wallet you have to declare)

(yeah I'm legal biz in USA.....for alt currencies...roped in by the bank on a bank mistake so felt it best to go 'legit' resolved in an hour at bank but w/o tax biz info could a
got ugly even thou their error ...SEC was contacted....they said i sent 90k overseas I sent 10k to knc heh...was resolved quick with my tax and biz info w/o who knows?)

anyway how much slack do I have if i shut my miner off on slush say in a couple days from now  till after Jan 1st 2015?

or is it just plain not an issue?

thanks (by the by paid no taxes due to equip purchases in 2013 and likely none on mining in 2014 in that this year sucks bit time but that 1/4 off equip depreciation as
computer equipment (20% off gross income for 5 years) or again in real $$$ otherwise applied paid to tax man 25% off taxes I woulda paid...so that is real $$$ saved
...so with a no roi no refund barely working KNC Titan (sigh) and my previous winner of a Jupiter it is  is looking pretty good right now going legal.....so i just may have lucked out)

so it goes live an learn and roll with punches..did not have a lot of choice for those over stocked in equipment in usa you MAY want to talk to your CPA?
(she laughs and calls me a farmer and does my equip and such the same more or less bitcoin be the crops i guess...a very amused CPA in all this)

back to watching my Jupiter manage not to make less then elec on slush shoulda died or been shut off  2 months ago ..was .007 btc per day...then luck went up next month
again .007 per day last month and now diff dropped
now with luck .008 per day on a roll whoo hoo still barely beating elec costs heh will be sad to shut it off

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

This is everyone own opinion.  My thought though.... you could make a living off of BTC mining it all depends on your setup and all

I correct myself in that I have visited or worked in countries where electricity is free to homes. There a profit can be made. Here in the states, no such luck, it is expensive to the point where mining BTC is no longer profitable with difficulty levels since early 2014.

So with all this knowledge we all have and slush has.  and the hardware and software we have.     Could there not be like a failsafe timout.  So if the pool notices someone hopping or adding and removing hash power constantly  and not keeping it at a steady one.  Decreasing the luck and the quantity of solving blocks in a 1-2 days.

I mean I'm sure there is away to track those kind of things.  I'm actualy certian. So if someone from a certain IP is doing that..  The Server thrown a few hour timeout period.   This would have to be over 2-4 times in a daily basis.

The server would learn who is hopping the most or who is adding and removing hashpower on a daily/weekly basis, which then tells the server who to watch out for and to throw a timeout on them if it happens to often.

It could work.  I know it can

Non sequitur. You still have not shown that the italicized causes the bolded. Slush is not going to make changes to the pool to solve your imaginary problem.

I like to know why everyone has to diss you every single damn frigan time you make a suggestion.     Cant escape it at all.

It's once again AN OPINION THAT ANYONE IS ENTITLED TO I dont know people have to diss you or question you every single time.  Instead of just keeping that to yourself.

It's actually a theory that I have been working on and monitoring for a few weeks now.   Forgive me for having an opinion and theory of my own that may help.

I dont know if you people know.  But Computers and Servers are pretty damn smart so long as u use it right.   sorry for having my own opinion.  Apparently i cant type or have my own opinion without all of u dissing me every time.

Sorry im human.

Because I also dont know who else has noticed.  But this effects every single person who uses slushs pool.   Not just myself.     (I dont know why some people act like things have no solution or no hope,  or your stupid or make fun of u because you have your own opinion and a theory)

Completely agree with Cris.
Both in terms of the resolution of slush problem, as far as the right to have a personal opinion.

Yes, you have a theory based on some observations. That's fine. However, you haven't presented any data or proposed any possible technical reason why newly added hashing power is somehow less efficient per share at finding valid blocks. You're suggesting Slush change the pool to solve a problem you haven't shown to exist, and get offended when people tell you that no one is going to change the rules of the scoring system based around your opinion that you admit you haven't actually proven.

Thats one.  Because I didnt know people would get so picky if u just stated an opinion/theory and didnt have proof for them not to see.  I didnt know people would make such a big deal over it.       If I knew people would make such a big deal over it.  I would have been taking pictures on a daily basis  to prove it.

No I dont know WHY people are doing it.    All I know it.   a month or 2 before when it was at a stable hashrate for Slushs pool  we were having real fast and great blocks.   Now all of a sudden when its not stable were getting longer blocks.

No I cant prove this.  But it doesnt take a genious to figure it out.  All it takes is to watch the Pools hashrate go up 2 and drop 3 and fluctuate all week

Thus causing us longer blocks.

but Hey.  If you got any better idea.  Please..

Hashrate fluctuations do not decrease luck. Fact. Luck is called luck for a reason, otherwise if things could influence it, it would be called something else.

When the pool loses 1 Petahash in 4 hours, of course not that it does not reduce our chances of solving a block!

This reasoning is completely stupid.  Kiss

Fluctuating hashrate has nothing to do with pool luck, gaining and losing hashpower will increase and decrease our chance of finding blocks but still does not affect our luck.

i agree with you alot. but believe it or not.  But Luck can be teased to making it more lucky.   Luck is just luck,... unless u cope wit the luck.. producing a higher % of luck.

None of that matters on Slush's pool. If a miner is away for more than 1.5 hours they are paid nothing of any future blocks found regardless if they hashed for 24 hours without a block being found. Only the active miners during the previous 1.5 hours of a block being found get paid. That is why I left Slush. I hashed over 24 hours and had to turn my rig off to do something. Was over 1.5 hours and I got paid nothing, even though I hashed over 24 hours with no blocks being found.

Does anyone know if this rule is applied on a per-worker or per-account basis ?

I have a few workers proxied through a local stratum proxy but presented as separate workers; am I better off having them mine as the same worker ?

Good question. Don't know if it is per account or per worker. Should be per account to be more fair. The algorithm is explained somewhere. Maybe it will say?
