All miners are between 41 and 45 on temperature now with the door closed.

Not bad, considering...

Was that the best place for the air condition? If you fill that shelf with more devices you dont think it will choke the a/c?

Certainly do...

That's why another one will be going behind the next shelf up when I add more equipment.

You think that is the best place or that the miners so close to the intake will choke the a/c?

Not sure if it will or not.

I suppose we will find out.  If this is a mistake.  Someone can learn from my mistake.

I wish I had bought a 10 inch instead of an 8 inch exhaust fan.  That is one mistake I have made already.

I added my box fans to the closet with zip ties to other shelves in the closet.  It has brought the temp down even more on the rigs.  When the AC blows out down low straight out to the door, the fans then suck the air up and onto the rigs.  Temps rang from 37 to 42 now with the closet door open.  I'm also allowing AC to be sucked in from the recreation room.

I've got to do something up high to suck out the heat better.  I wish I had got the 10 inch exhaust.

I think I'm gonna go for the BIG GUN and get the 14 inch Can Max Fan 1823 CFM (Really 1700 CFM).  However, it is quieter than all 10 inch fans yet has the same CFM if not more that most 12 inch fans have.  It also uses less amps than most 12 inch.  Since it has larger blades, it does not require as many RPM's to move the same amount of air as a 12 inch.  This in turn makes it quieter and more energy efficient [ranges from 213 to 230 watts.

So again, quieter than most 10 inch fans with same CFM or more than most 12 inch fans.

You have to watch this dude getting blown around with this thing on youtube and also SEE THE SIZE OF THIS THING next to him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DxbWXo4dF4

I will sell the 8 inch hyper fan on eBay.  Someone is going to get a good deal on it.  Usually hydroponic growers buy these things.

Not worried about Pulling out more air than the ac can put out?  Maybe put it on a thermostat instead of on all the time, or go with a lower cfm setting.

He still has the vent in the bottom. If the a/c cannot supply enough air any extra can be pulled through the vent. Admittedly the vent might not be large enough.

Been mining for almost a year and using a desktop wallet. Finally getting some new equipment and more bitcoins (hopefully).  Wondering what yall think about online wallets like Xapo or Coinbase etc?

Thanks,
JT

Depends if you want to be anonym or not. On Xapo you have to give out your phonenumber to use your wallet so I dont recomend it since some of the point of using bitcoin is to be harder to track

^ The only online wallet that looks good to me is Circle. Your funds in your wallet are insured. Coinbase is insured but I think only for their coins. You may want to check for yourself. I use Mycelium android for daily use and cold storage for bulk.

You are correct.  Also, a LOT of heat is in the garage.  I taped up the vent on the garage side to keep from sucking the heat into the closet.

When standing in the closet, it is warm up high from my chest... up to the ceiling.  If I kneel down, it feels comfortable.  The box fans are pulling up the cool heat onto the rigs to cool them down from approximately [41 to 47 rig to rig depending on location] to [37 to 43 depending on location].  The 37 to 43 is with the door open as well.

I'm heading to Lowe's now to look for a large vent to install in the closet door.  The goal is to get rid of the box fans to use less watts and have room to move around in their.

Be back after a while.

I installed a LARGE vent that can be filtered in the lower half of the door.  However, I did not get a filter yet.

I still have those 3 box fans zip tied and pointed on the rigs like y'all have seen in a previous post.  I don't think I'm going to take them down until that 14 inch gets here from Amazon and installed.

When I'm inside the closet with the door closed, I can feel cool air being sucked up through the vent in the door.  The vents are angled up; as you can tell.  So, the air blows "up" straight to the rigs.  That 8 inch would probably be fine for now with only those 16 S3's inside the closet.  However, I KNOW I will need that 14 inch when I start adding more rigs.

The temperature on all the rigs are 2 degrees celsius warmer with the door closed than with it open now that the vent is installed.  It was approximately 5 degrees celsius warmer with the door closed without a vent installed.

Temps on some with door open are rig on left side top 42/40; rig on top center 45/38; rig on top right 43/40; rig on bottom shelf 41/40

Temps on the same rigs with door closed are 2 degrees celsius warmer than what you see here.  Reminder, 2 box fans up high and 1 circular fan down low are going inside the closet.

I'm CERTAIN when the 14 inch exhaust fan is installed and connected to a 16" x 16" square box with 16" x 16" filtered return air grill that the temps should at least be the same as what they are right now with the door open and with box fans.

The return air grill will be more than twice the size of what is in there right now.  The CFM will also jump from 720 CFM to 1700 CFM [More than twice as much suction].

like the setup its compact with alot of miner.but seems to work great.

Probably a year or so from now if iv got a warehouse owned or a small 50x50x20 room   i will be setting it all up wit miners.      My goalis to be a smal btc farm that has obe of the highest amounts of hashing power.

Working on college for IT which is my start to owning my owb small business.  My goal is to reach  is extravagent but the thigs iv seen and heard.   I believe i can make  50x50x20 structure with 15-20+ th/s

Hardest part is finding the funds to make this all happen while faceing the debts of schooling

I find it INCREDIBLY fascinating seeing others mining setups.   Its quite interesting.

I understand how student loan debt goes.  My wife is an accountant.  She had a lot of student loan debt at one time.  It's paid off now.  I go my education from the United States Marine Corp.  However, the economy has slowed down my business of training telephone technicians as of late.  They've cut budgets a lot over the last few years.  When they do, "training" is one of the first things they cut.  So, I had to come up with something to make up for lost income.  Mining was the ticket... I HOPE!!!

Yes, I too like to look at other set ups in the forums on here and on youtube.

I'm determined to get between 23 and 30 TH/s going eventually in this closet with temperatures on all rigs no higher than 43 or 44 degrees Celsius with the door closed.

I REALLY BELIEVE that 14 inch exhaust fan with 16 inch filtered return grill will get me there concerning the temperatures.  I may end up selling the S3's on eBay some day and replacing them with S4's as well in the future.

Thanks for the comments.

I did make a mistake buying the 8 inch exhaust fan.  Hopefully, others can learn from my mistake if they too decide to do their set up inside a small 3.5 feet x 5.5 feet closet similar in size to mine.

That was ny concern to.   I needed a source of income while in school  when i dont have an income atm.    As u said     Bitcoin was the answer.    Its been slow.  But its helping.

Thinking of ordering 2 s3s from bitmain and possibly sell some of my s1s.   Or create a better setup for my outside on the balcony setup( id shiw picsbut its bot near me)

The downfall.    That setup  in the summer.  That hit 55- 60c  theres s1s with 2 200rpn coolermaster fans in each(which i think rises the heat)

But once winters comes, wont have to worry about them getting hot.   I think the heat will just nelt the snow. Im at 1.4th/s atm.

THank god i have yet to worry about hydo cost D

Spent $3.00 on btc when it hit like $320/btc.    Cashing it out when we hit $450-600/btc+   turn 3.00 into 10 is my plan.

WOW...  55 to 60 Celsius was getting pretty hot.  I would try to replace those S1's with S3's as soon as possible.  They both use the same watts but the S3's are more than twice the hashing power.  Of course, you know that.

My power costs are really outstanding compared to most other States:

Summer (June-Sept)              Winter (Oct-May)
Base Charge   $14.50                Base Charge   $14.50
First 1000 kWH   $0.077823       First 750 kWH   $0.077823
Over 1000 kWH   $0.080352       Over 750 kWH   $0.065823

I'm looking forward to doing some trading soon myself.  However, I'm more focused on spending every BTC I mine on S4's at the moment.  I might start trading some after my first S4 [Coming Soon] but we'll see.

Over 1000 kWH   $0.080352       Over 750 kWH   $0.065823

now that's some nice power cost . best i have all year is 0.0919 per KWH one tier, new plan is  due to happen next year, I'm going shopping  once i get that renewal letter .  Sep this year i got a 352 $ bill in the mail for power cost i had been mining all summer  24 /7 and the highest bill was 220 in the summer till sep . but what jacked it in Sep was a bad wire out side my house it took it them three hours to replace now my bills
seem  ok power doesn't go over 8 bucks a day it was going over 12 to all most 16 a day with that bad wire i had no idea why till my power went out and no one else did. i wish i could get those cost thu i would  invest more in to farming . its just a hobby for me.

I didn't know if everyone with multiple miners were doing this or not.

Don't mind seeing GHash on here.  I'm mining with rigs 1 through 12 on Slush and rigs 13 through 16 on the dark side.

What I wanted to point out were the "bookmarks" on the left for all 16 miners and 16 "tabs" at the "top" of my browser.  I have the tabs in order from left to right for rigs 1 through 16.

Just thought I would share this with other newbies like myself with multiple rigs.

Your power costs are pretty damn good as well.  Many others are closer to .15 cents per kWH.
