I actually like the closet project. Those miners are mining at slushs pool. It's a lot better than newbies constantly accusing slush of cheating or not keeping the pool up. As long as we keep this a NO FUD ZONE and about Slush's Pool and our mining, it's all good.
Thank you for the props on the closet project! As for my accusations in the past [As a newbie] I have learned from the error of my ways. I'm not making accusations any more at anyone about cheating anyone in the pool. I was a damn newbie when I made two accusations on here and I'm still a newbie. However, I have learned from my mistakes. Does that mean I should be mocked and ridiculed from this day forward by others in the forum because of my ignorance in the past? I would hope not!!! Those who do are obviously immature and need to take a look at themselves. If I make a mistake, I'm man enough to own up to it. However, some on here want to continue acting like little dogs barking to instigate the big dogs into getting up to see something that is nothing. It's a damn shame some on here have to act like little children. Hell, they might be a damn child. I don't know. None of this is directed at you, Billbags. I'm just spilling out my observations of others in the forum.

@vesperwillow By asking that question we know you are not current on Bitcoin mining(there are very efficient miners out now), but buying BTC at current low prices is a good idea.
Yeah I'm not current, I just stay on top of it every day. Maybe instead I should just stay up 24 hours a day and glue my retina to the screen. I was just suggesting that, because BTC is so low right now, it's cheaper for most people to buy direct than to buy a miner to try and mine back that amount. Because, you know, everyone's power cost is different, and Bitcoin now is more valuable than Bitcoin later, especially if an arbitrage pops up. Love how people say things, and don't even know anything about a person. Good to see how many active folks we have on the pool, slush has always been great.

Wouldn't it be more profitable to buy BTC outright, than to buy new equipment? Unless/until BTC is worth many decimal points, earning fractions won't cover your electrical cost very well over the coming months, regardless of the upgrade.
My post wasn't meant to be malicious. I was just pointing out the facts that new Asics are very efficient now and selling their old miner and buying a new is not a bad idea. My equipement as most others covers my electric with no problem, I do agree over the next few months Bitcoin will be low and volatile until after the fork, due to people knowing about it so soon. I also stated this is a good time to buy at these low prices. Have a good day Back to mining at Slush's Pool.....

Ive only been on this subforum for a couple days and I am already sick of it. I don't know how old you all are but you act like children. This is the internet you have to take everything with a grain of salt.

Can someone explain the cumulative distribution function (CDF) from the stats page. I understand probability theory somewhat from when I was researching the W. Feller citation on the white paper, but I have always had a hard time applying it with Slush's graph. I have always just looked at the number around the one hour mark and if it's 20% or better it usually takes around 4 hours or less to find a block. I also watch it sit at 99% for hours waiting on a block. If someone could explain the number a little better this would help out a great deal. Thanks in advance.

Finally some discussion which is pool related, so I will try to explain ... We know (I hope) that usually block is found after exactly difficulty shares are submitted, which is equal to 100% luck, but not all rounds - CDF shows how many rounds (in percent) are completed in the current number of shares submitted. Example as of right now: Current round duration: 3:54:31 Current shares CDF: 51.75 % Current Bitcoin block, difficulty: 327538, 35985640265 Shares contributed in current round: 26222487684
We have submitted (since the round start) 26222487684, with the current difficulty equal to 35985640265, so we have submitted 26222487684/35985640265=0.72869309788283129217792729468892 In short 0.73, then we look at the graph and it shows CDF being 52%, which means in 52 of 100 rounds we would have found a block by now. Example from the previous round: Duration: 10:25:16 Total Shares: 69928582694
69928582694/35985640265=1.9432357512341735737628677148118 or 1.94 = CDF of 86%, which means that 86% of our rounds are (should be) shorter than that

^ Thanks, that's actually a great explanation. I wasn't connecting the difficulty shares to 100% luck with the rounds included. It makes sense now.

need to write some software to detect X hrs then switch pools when it exceeds X hrs 24hrs of mining for .004 BTC is not going to cut it Double your hashrate to over 2TH and you'll get more than the 0.004 BTC! 7 blocks yesterday and none so far today .... you never know, once we get at least 1 block today, 4 min blocks may appear out of the blue.

Maybe we can go a full UTC day without finding a block or 0 blocks for 30 Oct in the stats page. I've seen several 24+ hour blocks but have never seen a full day just being skipped in the stats log. Maybe it would be a good omen.

SO that's why i had all most 4th run in here till the confirms I was about to park 6.9 TH here for a few days that's how much i love this pool then the confirms stopped I may move the 2.2 th I left here and come back in a bit ,I'm wasting time and money i rented that much so i would stat getting more faster. I not complaining or accusing just asking i couldn't figure out what was going on .I don't do that .. ty btw if any one gives a answer why ?. moving my miner for now and yes i hate to but i'm wasting time getting nothing if that's why and hope you understand . cya
