Its not really that much new, it was announced one day later after Bitmain has announce their A3 miner, something seems fishy, like they are trying to compete with them...

I think they have a hidden connection.  And are far more related to each other then we know.


But that is my own conspiracy theory.

Well, to make it more interesting, I bet there is some kind of a triangle connection between Halong-Innosilicon-Bitmain  

Gotta love them consiparicy theories.

But seriously, I think Inno is somehow involved in this Dragonmint project.

some unidentified items wrapped up and a conveyor belt showing some pieces of plastic moving.

there is nothing identifiable in there. nothing. they have a room filled with their fabled machinery and they can't be bothered to get a little bit closer to show their haters one single detail that might prove it's real.

i'm waiting to be pleasantly surprised. that video has done less than nothing to reduce that wait. it's increased it.

what is constantly blowing my mind with this whole thing is their failure to go the final few centimetres and put more doubts to bed. even if they don't need to publicize i'd still do it to get people to be quiet.

The one reason that comes to mind is that they care more of their competitive advantage then if some thread on BT is crying for more screenshots. There is some reason why their miner is 20% better than Bitmain's and if there is even a minuscule chance that advantage can be compromised by sending their miner for a review why on earth would they risk it? They can already sell far, far more then they can produce, and it will not change for a long time, certainly not until they send batch#1 to customers.

A high level of apprehension is natural with any new company that pops up selling preorders, I can't blame you on that one. Halong could of approached things differently on certain matters for sure. This is especially true with the amount of scams that happened and continue to pop up on the daily all over the world. I was personally sold on the product when I saw it in person early on last month, as Scott lives pretty close to me.

This is the type of stuff they need to push out. A few (or a ton of!) DragonMint logos would be good too

100% agree with you on that.  Whether or not it comes out  and is nice gear it was a bizarre promotion for sure

So, is there anything in those pictures that we can guarantee aren't photos snuck from an S9 assembly line? Even the control board someone mentioned earlier was exactly a control board from some other existing miner.

That would be me and my post with a thorough comparison with pictures (see my previous posts at previous page).

It is same control board as in the Innosilicon A4+, A5 and A6.

As you are definitely the number one man here at the forum when it comes to mining hardware, what do you think about those exactly similar design details (including both software and hardware) ?

This doesn't look like an s9 assembly line. But they don't look to be a big company either from the pics. If anything, "Halong Mining" is probably either a subsidiary of Innosilicon or better yet, they are buying S9 parts (remember that little Bitmain lawsuit drama that was conveniently tied with the release of this miner?) and developing their own firmware and different settings. Either way, this is gonna be a very fun ride to the bottom of profittability soon. Probably gonna have to move to Russia soon lol. Anything above 0.05$ per KW is probably not going to break even in a year.

so we got cases and some heat sinks, where are the hashing boards? Maybe we can get a video of those in higher resolution. None-the-less, they are going a step farther than Syan ever did...either more a more elaborate hoax or they could just be real. I hope for the latter.

Tough call. The front face of the housing for the controller board looks identical:

Looking at the front face is not at all conclusive of anything. Those are just front connectors that could be connected to anything or nothing.

Yeah but car stereos are standardized by manufacturer consensus. A no-name coming out of no-where and advertising something whose only visible components thus far are identical to what's being manufactured by known competitors from a country with little respect for IP rights, you gotta admit leaves a lot of question marks. It could easily point to somewhere between "rebadging" and "stealing", neither of which are "innovating".

I mean if all your "proof" photographs have someone else's controllers in them, and what looks like the exact same housings and heatsinks as someone else's machines, and the parts which would absolutely have to be your design to prove this thing was real are nowhere to be seen - honestly, I'm flat broke compared to almost everyone else on these forums but even I have never asked for a dime in sales without presenting irrefutable proof of functional electronics. Even if it was a scam it'd take what, a thousand bucks and about two days' work to fake a set of hashboards.

I didn't want to say anything until I'd gotten a response from them, but eh whatever. The other day I dropped Halong a line via the "Contact Us" on their website asking about sample chips. The market sector I target isn't exactly their competition, and honestly the market sector I target stands a chance of becoming their customers after getting their feet wet on my entry-level miners. Plus having someone trusted able to say the chips do in fact exist and appear to work as advertised would go a long way to proving their legitimacy. Haven't heard back yet, it's only been a day or so, but I'll keep y'all posted.

At this point I'm leaning towards legit a little more (before I was on the 100% scam side). I would still not order from them. Remember for example the Innosilicon DashMaster? It was legit, but it shipped months late and nobody made money, except Innosilicon of course. By the time dragonmints ship, even if it's on time, people that pre-ordered could have bought S9s at $1450 and be close to ROI already after December and January high profits. No pre-sales for me, thanks.

Still no transparent proof about the hardware, but hey, it did not stop Halong from releasing a third Dragonmint miner model already.  

They now say they have a Bitcoin miner, Siacoin miner and also a Decred miner coming.
