I'd like to know why Bitminter is not updating lastest blocks from Blockchain (https://blockchain.info/blocks/BitMinter)

Why was block 283115 (Main Chain) and 283064 (Main Chain) not shown on Bitminter's "Blocks / minting timeline" page?

I may be wrong but didn't it used to show blocks being worked on? I only show 0.00000003 BTC Payment for block 283018
since then according to blockchain 2 blocks are done, or is the updates really slow?

What is the block being worked on in real time?

There really needs to be some sort of sticky function regarding this...

The short version is that blockchain.info cannot be used to reliably determine who found a block.

IronFox can be expected to solve 1 block every 20 days on average with a difficulty of 2.2 billion. IIRC he originally had 4 BFL Minirigs (1.5TH/s each, in 3x 500GH parts) deployed, but it looks as if he's sold a 500GH/s miner and has been maintaining 5.5TH/s for a while.

About blockchain.info showing too many Bitminter blocks, let me put it this way, I have sometimes seen their site get something right, but it's not often.

I emailed them about the problem, but they didn't reply.

According to them Deepbit is still finding several blocks per day, and half of P2pool's blocks are made by Bitminter. It would be funny if it wasn't confusing so many people.

i know exactly what happened.  i clicked on an email from bitcoinnews.com and it took me to a video, told me i needed to update flash player and downloaded a trojan.  he got my google login and went into bitminter and manually sent coins out.  btc/nmc addresses need passwords and the manual payout needs a password. once someone gets into your account, if you have coins, its easy to take.

Not to rub salt into your wounds...namecoins are actually worth something these days.  374 NMC are worth over $1900 on BTC-e right now!

So why aren't you sending them to an exchange like BTC-e, Vicurex or Cryptsy and exchanging them for Bitcoin and putting them into your offline wallet?  With BTC-e you can even exchange them directly into USD.

Someone got paid for those "missing" blocks. The people mining in the pool where they were made.

It's not easy to detect with 100% certainty which pool a block is coming from, but blockchain.info does a really bad job, it's like they are not even trying. I contacted them about this, but they didn't bother to reply. Of course it makes Bitminter look bad when they identify so many blocks from other pools as ours. But there's not much I can do about it. I guess I could remove all links to blockchain.info from bitminter.com. It's just a shame blockchain.info is so much more user-friendly than blockexplorer.com.

It is possible to enable 2-factor authentication for logging in, if you use an OpenID identity provider that supports it. I know Google supports this, and I believe Verisign does as well - perhaps also others. This has to be enabled at google.com, verisign.com, etc. not at Bitminter. This is also very useful if you use Gmail. I saw someone recently lost their coins on an exchange after an attacker got into their Gmail account. The attacker used the "password reset" feature on the exchange, which sent a password reset link to the Gmail address. Enabling Google 2FA makes this attack much more difficult.

I'll be adding 2-factor auth directly to bitminter.com, requiring 2FA for "send coins" and for changing auto cash out settings. If your PC is compromised by a trojan they could still abuse the one-time password (OTP) as soon as you type one in - but at least this would require some work on the part of the attacker.

I'm also considering daily withdrawal limits or something similar. Perhaps a limit per transaction would also be helpful. This could limit the damage if you are using the website from a compromised PC and the attacker is grabbing your OTPs as soon as you type them in, and using them to send coins to the attacker. But I suppose it would also generate a lot of angry complaints if the BTC/NMC market was crashing and people couldn't move all their coins quickly to exchanges to sell.

Is bitcoinnews.com a scam site, or was the mail just pretending to come from them?

Yeah, I don't know why they get it wrong - BitMinter has a coinbase sig and a known generation address - where's the problem?

C'est la vie. You could have just as easily mined 0 blocks with the same number of shares, so it's hit or miss.

If it makes you feel better, if you'd been solo mining your generation address would have been different and you wouldn't have found those blocks anyway, so it's not like you can really say you would have made 75BTC if you'd been soloing.

I encourage all other website owners to do the same. Even having no information is better than linking to misinformation.

Have we had a couple of blips?  Seems the stratum proxy for my cubes has been kicked off a couple of times in the last few minutes, and BFG Miner has been asking for work...  Wondering if its on my end or if the connection was lost on Bitminter's side?

I've found 0 blocks here but I already got paid 3.75 BTC, that infinitely more than my block finds ;-)

C'est la vie, as he said. If I had solo mined until now I would be "at loss" vs PPS.
And even if I would have found 100 blocks in a row that would mean nothing about my future luck...
