I really don't see how this can happen with the cases increasing in India daily while in Australia the cases remain under control for now. It will be sad if we have to wait this long just to see the T20 world cup but as I said before in here, it all comes down to money and power and the BCCI seem to have both.
What does money power to do in a situation like this, since the T20 world cup is hosted by Australia and the situation there is better and hence there would not be any resistance in going with the series. If they wanted to conduct the IPL then there is no way they can conduct with the situation is not favorable and money power cannot do everything during a pandemic.

Its always about the money my friend no matter what, that is why the world is starting to open up even though the cases are still very high daily because they need to get the economy going again and the same is for sports. We shall see what happens in the coming weeks but I do hope that the T20 world cup goes ahead as planned and not postponed for a year.

Countries are losing their economic growth because the virus very quickly, even the government is taking all possible steps to control the virus, but it's affecting the GDP. In the coming, they will take all measures and suggest their people follow some specific rules for controlling the virus. So this year we might see the T20 world cup by that time government will control the virus.

That is true BCCI needs Gangully more than ICC. He can only bring a lot of positive changes to Indian cricket. Almost every member in BCCI is affiliated to a political party. Politics has ruined the board for a long time and players like Ganguly and others can make a difference to the existing structure.

That's true. Politics is the reason why someone such as Sharad Pawar, with zero skill and experience even managed to become the president of the ICC. Even now, the BCCI is filled with political appointees. Jay Shah is the Secretary of the BCCI, and he happens to be the son of the Indian home minister (Amit Shah). Arun Singh Dhumal is the BCCI treasurer, and he happens to be the brother of Anurag Thakur (Mos Finance). And then we have the TNCA, which is filled with corrupt proxies such as Rupa Gurunath.

We are really full of dirty politics and bad impact of this all on game but sadly no one can change this very quickly as its going for very long time and will go for some more time if we have some real honest politicians then may be this all will change and we will able to do some more better with this all.

I am not fan of any politically motivated person sitting in BCCI cabinet either but we both know that this situation not going to change anytime soon. The best we can hope for is they are being honest with their roles, I don't expect 100% honesty as its not possible in our world but i am happy as long as they working towards the betterment of game.

I despise Sharad Pawar as much as next fella due to his corrupt practices but jeez saying "zero skill" is bit too much IMHO, this old horse is seasoned politician and not a dummy.

It is next to impossible to remove politics from cricket in South asia,  crickets now days have political ambition and every one sitting in the top is some way connected or is affiliated with a political party. BCCI has gone through major shuffling still politics is prevailing no matter what.

None of the sports bodies in India are free from political involvement. Rather, I would say that the level of political intervention in the other governing bodies are much higher when compared to the BCCI. At least the BCCI is having nominal independence and autonomy. Even many of the players are associated with the political parties. For example, Ganguly has been linked to the BJP, while Mohammad Azharuddin is an ex-MP from the opposition INC party.

Well.. I can agree that he is a very cunning and experienced politician. But he was the ICC president for a long time, and I can't recall a single contribution from him to the sport of cricket during that time period. Even he was absent from the ICC meetings most of the time, and was solely concentrating on the Indian politics. Jagmohan Dalmiya was a thousand times better than him.

It is not a big hurdle for cricket Australia because they have everything under control and they can very well conduct the T20 World Cup as scheduled and Smith have already declared that he is willing to play the IPL if the T20 Word Cup is postponed. I hope they will conduct the tournament as scheduled rather than having IPL.

I am seriously getting bored of this political game guys as i have no idea about the names thrown around or the political inclination.

This is the latest update and schedule of Australian Home season. we were discussing this in Test thread in context of T-20 WC and IPL, this might able to give you some sort of answer about CA mindset.

~snip~
Aus vs India Schedule

There is a gap between the T20I series and the test series, and I guess they have kept it so, to accommodate the T20 World Cup. So the BCCI is indirectly hinting that the T20 World Cup would go ahead as planned in November 2020 and the IPL 2020 would be postponed (or rather cancelled). It is not practical for the players (both Indian and Australian) to travel from Australia to India in mid-October (for the IPL) and then return again for the test series.

So this fixture list answers a lot of our questions.
This T-20 fixture got me confused, if we go by this schedule then IPL is definitely postponed for next year unless BCCI planning some action in mid Aug to Sep End window.

Australia got 1 month window for T-20 WC but can OZ players afford to play 4 months (Oct-Nov-Dec-Jan) back 2 back series continuously? I doubt that. We have to wait for official statement from the decision committee, if they decide giving final verdict for WC on Jun 10th.  No decision on T20 WC yet as confidentiality issues grip ICC

Full summer fixtures released- Australia

"3 T-20 Match Series Against Zimbabwe ( Aug 9 - Aug 15 )
3 T-20 Match Series Against Windies ( Oct 4 - Oct 9)
3 T-20 Match Series Against India ( Oct 11- Oct-17)

Oct 18- Nov 20 - Free slot

1 Test Match against Afghanistan ( Nov 21-25)
4 Test Match series Against India ( Dec 3 - Jan 7)

3 ODI series Against India ( Jan 12 - Jan 17)
3 ODI & 1 T20I Series against New Zealand ( Jan 26 - Feb 2)
"

I am disappointed that the Optus Stadium in Peth has been overlooked for hosting test matches.
I might add that now time has come Border-Gavaskar trophy deserves 5 Test Match series, not 4.

I hope that they can conduct the T20 World Cup this year, because I am sure that the IPL will be cancelled for 2020. Monsoon season has started in India, along with heavy torrential rains and this is going to last 3-4 months. And the number of cases here are increasing on a day by day basis. The BCCI is still hopeful, but even their hopes are fading rapidly.

Should New Zealand throw their hat for T-20 WC hosting? Seems they already lifting all the restrictions, all they have to do is follow quarantine idea at start for all teams/staff or whatever they decides?

https://twitter.com/cricbuzz/status/1268059843375648768
New Zealand could return to normal life as early as next week

Quote
Wellington: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Wednesday she could lift all social distancing measures to return the country to normal life, bar the international border closure, as early as next week.

Ardern will decide on Monday whether the country is ready to shift to alert level 1, more than two months after she imposed a strict level 4 lockdown, shutting most businesses and forcing people to stay home, in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

This is the latest update and schedule of Australian Home season. we were discussing this in Test thread in context of T-20 WC and IPL, this might able to give you some sort of answer about CA mindset.
Going through everything that is coming out i understand they are not that keen to conduct the tournament this year.

~
I hope that they can conduct the T20 World Cup this year, because I am sure that the IPL will be cancelled for 2020. Monsoon season has started in India, along with heavy torrential rains and this is going to last 3-4 months. And the number of cases here are increasing on a day by day basis. The BCCI is still hopeful, but even their hopes are fading rapidly.
We are living in a very volatile situation and i am not too aware of the things going around with BCCI but overall it is not the best times and CA might have their reasons to extend the tournament.

Should New Zealand throw their hat for T-20 WC hosting? Seems they already lifting all the restrictions, all they have to do is follow quarantine idea at start for all teams/staff or whatever they decides?
Consider what is said above, New Zealand throwing in the hat to co host the World cup is a good idea and the ICC should start taking decisions.

Lol no way! We managed to get out of this thing OK. We are not risking opening our borders for a long time!  Cheesy

May get an unexpected series between AU/NZ tho!

Kiwis are too nice to deny any request from the ICC anyway  Tongue. I am hoping that BlackCap Master - Williamson- has some say in it?

This is the same reason Australia might not be interested to risk the country opening the boarders to conduct the T20 World Cup and hence wanted to move that next year, but they can carry on with the tournament with safety measures by testing every players landing in their soil.

If Australia and New Zealand plays then it would be cool as i would love to watch cricket coming back.

The New Zealand cricket board is cutting the work force and they would not mind some money now  Cheesy.

^ I tried to watch BBL couple of times but got bored quickly due to absence of premier players from the Oz squad, No Starc, no Warner, no Smith, no Patty and on some occasion no Maxi... nah sorry BBL.

BBL is not interesting for all and specially for IPL lovers because they have much better options and interesting players instead of BBL sometime feel Daal Chawal without Achar.

Not unexpected. BBL salaries are very low, and I am not even comparing them with the IPL. Even CPL and PSL pay much better salaries when compared to the BBL. As far as I know, the highest salary in BBL is $210,000. The salary cap per team (i.e for all the 16 players) is just $1.6 million. On top of that, around 45% of whatever earned by the top players in BBL is deducted as tax by the Australian authorities. So is it even surprising that the star players are skipping the tournament?

Also, there was an infamous incident last year, when Sandeep Lamichhane left the BBL to play BPL in Bangladesh. Because his salary with Sylhet Sixers was much higher than what he was earning with the Melbourne Stars.
