~snip~ Do you think boycotting Chinese products is possible in this globalisation era? Almost all of the electronics even if its a US or European brand, the make is in China. So I don't think this is not possible in this era. Once the current border conflict subsides, the cry for boycotting Chinese products will stop and the people will be back to using the Chinese products. So, once the border conflict subsides, there will be no problem with VIVO sponsoring IPL Exactly! To add more here, First get your own house in order, for that to happen India surely need shitload amount of reforms, manufacturing muscles and infrastructure. After that try this all boycott drama. Its very much possible in a long run but again we need to get our shit together.

~ Its open to speculate as far as "deals in jeopardy" boycott rhetoric is concern and can shift both ways as VIVO deal is not that big (approx 500ish crore). I think status quo is not a bad option till BCCI gets new sponsor. There is a huge cry about boycotting the Chinese products and it is a 2,199 crore which is about 440 crore per year which is a huge sum of money and there are news coming out that BCCI will be reviewing all their sponsors and the decision will be taken next week regarding all these and that includes all the companies that have Chinese minority investment. Do you think boycotting Chinese products is possible in this globalisation era? Almost all of the electronics even if its a US or European brand, the make is in China. So I don't think this is not possible in this era. Once the current border conflict subsides, the cry for boycotting Chinese products will stop and the people will be back to using the Chinese products. So, once the border conflict subsides, there will be no problem with VIVO sponsoring IPL Well, two month before when china was locked down and Chinese were the first ones effected from corona virus, so people around the world decided to boycott Chinese products because of fear of covid-19, but later once the whole world is effected and Chinese to come out of this strongly, people are willing to buy the product of china because they are cheap as well as durable.

Its very much possible in a long run but again we need to get our shit together. Even in the long run, you can't boycott the Chinese products directly. Only thing we can do is improve the manufacturing industry by a major reform and be competitive with the Chinese manufacturers. @FIFA worldcup, Boycott is one thing and closing the borders because of the fear of pandemic is another both are completely different.
See this is what the BCCI spokesperson told regarding the review of VIVO sponsorship, so I'm sure that once the border dispute subsides by the end of June. This would not be an issue. "When we are allowing Chinese companies to sell their products in India, whatever money they are taking from Indian consumer, they are paying part of it to the BCCI (as brand promotion) and the board is paying 42 per cent tax on that money to the Indian government. So, that is supporting India's cause and not China's,"
^ Lol but this made me laugh

I am not a fan of Chinese products, but because of the influx of Chinese electronics and equipment, a lot of middle-class Indians like me can now afford to own good smartphone and electronic appliances such as washing machines and ACs. Indian products are costly, and they don't have the quality. On top of that, their service is not good either. As akhjob stated, it is not very practical to boycott Chinese products. Those who are asking the BCCI to remove Vivo from the IPL sponsorship are either retarded, or they have some hidden intention.

I'm afraid to say that I think the T20 world cup won't go ahead as the situation in the state of Victoria in Australia has worsen over the past few days with over 70 cases being reported and with the world cup final being played in Melbourne I can't see this going ahead now. I always had my doubts about the cases here in Australia as I have said we were coming into the flu season and it looks like I was right as the number of virus cases have been rising in Australia but more so in Victoria and restrictions have come back. Lets hope that it is played some time next year but even then it might be pushing it as it seems the situation around the world is now getting out of control and it could take even longer then we all thought for this to end.

Yeah, saw this news on CSA twitter's feed. Kinda funny that they announced the event in advance and didn't even bother to take health ministry including the department of the sport permission.

True but both the others player are not from so known. Aside from Masrafee, Nafis Iqbal who contributed his maiden century toward Bangladesh test series win (brother of Tamim Iqbal) and Nazmul Islam who played couple of matches for Bangladesh. However, that's a big worry for the team and the nation as whole.

I think the schedules test series with Srilanka might get postponed because of this issue.

The Indian railway already cancelled a Chinese contract but claim it is not because of the conflict, who knows. Also, another sad thing is that former skipper Mortaza tested positive just like Afridi. I hope he recovers quickly without any issues.
Is he doing charity work to get exposed to the virus. Hope he gets well soon.

When the news of Shahid Afridi testing positive for COVID 19 came, I made a post here claiming that he won't be the only international cricket player to have that misfortune. South Asia is witnessing an increasing number of cases with every passing day. There are projections that the number of cases may peak at sometime in November, and millions may get infected. If the BCCI was planning for a mini-IPL sometime in the 4th quarter, then they need to take a look at these projections.

If you are looking at the virus spike then there is no way we will have a tournament even in the 4th quarter but if the ICC and the respective cricket boards decides to resume cricket then we might see the match happening and that too with the help and support of the government as you need the authorization of the government to conduct a tournament during this period and i hope cricket resumes just like Scoccer.

Both Afridi and Mortaza exposed themselves to the public thanks to charity work and other works due to which they contracted the virus which is why it was their mistake. Most players are following all the rules like social distancing etc properly due to which they are safe and sound at present. Cases are rising rapidly in 3rd world countries (Especially India) currently and I don't expect it to peak anytime soon.

Shahid Afridi is meeting lot of people and trying to build the base for politics in Pakistan. In this meeting the local and other people resulted him to be positive . Also if their is chance of another wave then surely we would not have the IPL and nor the World Cup for this year . Oh.. so after Imran Khan, now Shahid Afridi is trying his luck in politics? I am not too excited with this news. As far as I know, Imran Khan isn't doing that good. Pakistani economy is not performing that well. What is the need for cricketers to exploit their celebrity status to enter the field of politics? Personally I believe that there should be a hard boundary between politics and spots.

So you think that the peak in third world countries is yet to happen. The US and India is leading in terms for the number of patients on a daily basis for a few days and it is not promising for the IPL fans but Australia is doing better and we can still hope for the T20 World Cup. ~ Personally I believe that there should be a hard boundary between politics and spots.
Is there a qualification for politics rather than having the ability to win a popularity contest .

Australia might be doing better however the cases in Melbourne has started to spike and the state government has enforced lock downs again. Melbourne is where the T20 final is scheduled to be played but right now things ain't looking good so don't get your hopes up for the T20 world cup happening this year.

I really hope its just a bogus news as PCB can't afford this drama just before the England tour. This source says that this update came from the PCB? Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that seven more cricketers have returned positive tests for Covid-19, taking the total count to ten ahead of their England tour. On Monday, Shadab Khan, Haider Ali, and Haris Rauf had tested positive.
The new names on the list are Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hasnain, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz, and Imran Khan. In addition, the PCB announced one member from the player support personnel had also tested positive for the virus. According to the PCB CEO Wasim Khan, all seven players who tested positive are - like the three who returned positive tests yesterday - asymptomatic. Shoaib Malik, Waqar Younis and Cliffe Deacon have not yet been tested. Seven more Pakistan players test positive for Covid-19
Edit : another source PCB press release: SECOND update on Covid-19 tests
Lahore, 23 June 2020: Following the announcement yesterday that three players had tested positive for Covid-19, the Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday confirmed that a further seven players and a player support personnel from a total of 35 have tested positive for Covid-19. Players who have tested positive are: Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan and Wahab Riaz
Player who have tested negative are: Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Iftikhar Ahmad, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, Sohail Khan, and Yasir Shah
