And we also can see that even the cricket board are being controlled by non-cricketers or businessmen, right? That's where the actual problem lies. Have a look at the Bangladesh cricket board for example. Has The President of the Bangladesh cricket board ever played cricket? Like ever? All I have seen him play is probably blackjack in casinos. But, he is the head of the Bangladesh cricket board. Sometimes it actually amazes me that this team is still doing reasonably well. Anyway, unless people can get out of the habit of chasing money the game is not going to reach people at its best and people are obviously not going to be interested. Head of board slot is purely for management and you don't need to be a cricketer to occupy that slot. The problem with Bangladesh cricket is something else they failed to prove that they have adequate talent in the country which is playing test for over two decades. There were noticeable names like jagmohan dalmiya they never played cricket. It does not matter who heads the board regardless of that person is a politician, player or businessman. All that person needs to do is to work for the benefit of cricket and the cricket board. Jagmohan Dalmiya was not just an ordinary businessman. He was a cricketer too and had played for a local cricket club in Kolkatta. Before writing anything about him please check his Wikipedia page, here is the link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagmohan_Dalmiya

Good point it's not important you have ex cricketer as President then you can do some better you need some better structure and domestic set up as well for this we have many great examples around the globe where non players done great jobs and have historic results it's all about team and management with some desire for your profession and country we are watching Bangladesh for last two decades, and they completely fail to have some better structure and environment for this game even they have roots of cricket in this region for many decades like before independence Pakistan have few matches here as well and there were some good players and facilities were available but recently corruption and attitude completely change things, and now they are going down in quality and passion very badly which is big concern for them.
Bangladesh was weak team even before current chief of Bangladesh cricket took over charge and Bangladesh performance these days is very much down. I fear due to negligence of ICC we might lose another test playing team like we lost Kenya and Zim. Nowadays boards have to do themselves to lift them up don't expect anything from icc.

Bangladesh is the neighbouring country of cricket playing nations (India, Pakistan and srilanka) where there is a lot of craze for cricket. Bangladesh can't remain away for cricket for long and they will regain the form.

~snip~ This is good article as far as solution is concern: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/news/go-back-to-elite-and-plate-system-in-ranji-trophy-ratnakar-shetty-to-bcci/articleshow/69395950.cms Now it has 4 groups. Plate - Uttarakhand, Bihar, Puducherry, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram (weak teams) Elite Group C - Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Haryana, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Services, Tripura, Goa (okay-ish teams) Elite Group A and B - All big teams, around 18. India should move from a zonal level first class competition from the current state-level setup. Hmm don't know how it's going to work out. Follow up I think i got it wrong and it looks like they have changed the grouping, again. Doesn't look perfect but its fine for a time being, no complaints whatsoever in covid times. Complete schedule https://www.timesofsports.com/cricket/ranji-trophy-2022-schedule-squad/

Well... I disagree with you on Jagmohan Dalmiya. He never got a chance to play international cricket (although he represented one of the most famous clubs in the Kolkata local competition). Still, when he was the president of the ICC he undertook major measures to boost the popularity of cricket in associate nations. And he was the one who first proposed to include cricket in Olympics. But his downfall started in 2004, when UPA won the elections in India. Srinivasan-Pawar combination captured power and they reversed the policy to popularize cricket. The mafia was in power for one decade and they pushed back the sport by at least 2-3 decades. The damage they did will never be undone.
I was of the view that dalmiya never played international cricket still he proved to be a good manager of BCCI. There is no need for a cricketer to be head of the board, Sachin is extraordinary cricketer still he can be a poor head of BCCi ( just my thought). I am not saying anything against Dalmiya his services will always be remembered.

This is completely biased statement from your side they have some very good and talented players, and they can improve this all but sadly recently they have few inner issues or political interference is also too much like we have in few other countries of Asia and Africa, so it's giving them bad view but once they settled this surely their quality will be improved, and we will have some good change in their quality and performance. Because, recently we have very bad performance from Sri Lanka as well it's happen to many other teams as well but due to their system they settle this all very quickly and in case of Bangladesh it's taking some long time and due to awful behaviour from Shakib there are some concerns as well because he is star player and role model for new generation he needs to be very reasonable for all new generation players.

It is the duty of the respective cricket board to find the talents and money to make the situation better and find ways to make money by selling the broadcast rights and so on rather than waiting for others to help them out. The old players were not at all making money when they played and the money was really low and still they were able to find genuine talented players and with more money than ever before and many are finding it hard to find genuine talents .

It is a country where national holiday is given on the day Bangladesh won against India. This means there is good support for all forms of cricketing. In such a country funding doesn't look like a big thing. There might be some internal issues which seems limiting the funds. In recent years match fixing has turned to be a big issue. Maybe if the issues were resolved automatically Bangladesh comes back to form.

I think there was national holiday also when they beat Pakistan in 1999 WC. You can see how crazy they are for cricket. If they won any major ICC event they will celebrate it every year. Bangladesh is playing cricket for more then 20 years but still there performance is not appreciable.

Hopefully You remember after this historic win Pakistan create record of 25 wins in a row against Bangladesh and now total telly is 37 matches and 32 win by Pakistan and 5 by Bangladesh it's awful for them as they completely fail to make any impression after having test status which was giving by Pakistan to them on political basis and after this they are still struggling badly even many still saying Bangladesh never deserve this test status because they have very poor quality. They fail to have some better domestic set up which help them to have some better talent and still having difficulties and just very few good players those are giving some better performance. Now time for them to do some better as they are going to have 25 years with their test status and still very low in all formats ranks.

They have the capability to beat any team in the world on their day. Yes that discipline problem from players like shakib is not good and must be punished. But Bangladesh is a good cricket playing nation and they will bounce sure come out from crisis.

2 test series are lined up and squads are out from the visitors. -NZ vs SA -PAK vs AUS (4 March) Good to see that Aussie are sending full strength team. WTC points are on the line, it should be exciting series. No Langer tho, he's not Aussie's coach anymore. 3 spinners in the squad, that's nice. " Australia Test squad: Pat Cummins (c), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Michael Neser, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner" https://www.cricket.com.au/news/australia-test-squad-tour-of-pakistan-harris-boland-richardson-schedule-george-bailey/2022-02-08

This is great news as Australia is sending the full test squad to Pakistan. I do not think a few players from this squad will pull out this time. Already COVID-19 situation is slowly getting under control and IPL is scheduled to be in April unless there is a security concern I do not think there should be a problem.

Without any doubt it's great news from Australia that no big name out of this test squad as few weeks back too many rumours about this squad and few players having concern about security but now all settled and Warner and Starc also in this full strength squad for this tour mean they are looking for full points and better position in WTC table which is also very good. Even we still have few weeks, but now things are better and security is also having increased in this country with now India is also looking for better and secure IPL in India so most chances we will have no drama in next few months and all will be happened good and secure for all parties after this tour England and New Zealand are also going to visit Pakistan which will increase fan base for cricket community.

West Indies plays against England once after the T20 series of India. West Indies played the previous test series against Sri Lanka and lost the series. Previously England have played against West Indies in the T20 series and lost it. Test format and T20 will be completely different, and with the matches played by West Indies some used to be very interesting for the performance and at times goes completely one sided.

Seriously? WTF? They dropped two of their best bowlers! Without Anderson, they would have been in a humiliating position during the Ashes series. He was their best bowler, by a distance. It was the younger bunch of bowlers who failed (Wood, Woakes, Robinson.etc). I guess he was dropped just because of his age, and that is so unfair to a bowler who had served the national team for almost two decades. And regarding Broad, I believe that he is one of the most under-rated players in test cricket. Very unfair decision from the ECB selectors.

@Sithara007 it’s a bold move from the selectors, because after the Ashes hammering one would have expected them to name a more experienced side against WI. Further I feel they feel WI is a weak side and that’s why they want to groom their young player’s, but if this experiment fails then I believe the selectors will have to step down too.
