I highly doubt that they'll drop Pujara, i think this might be more like a rest for him and he'll get another chance for sure, he is a big veteran equivalent to Kohli, Rohit when it comes to Tests. There can't be a better series to test Jaiswal and Gaikwad, it would've been even better to rest maybe Rohit to test even Sarfaraz Khan who was playing great in first class. Good place to test our bowling bench strength as well.

The narrative is that he's dropped and not rested. Rested is used for Shami but not for him. Tests are important maybe that's why it's not a good idea to give rest to temp captain.

Jaiswal seems alright as he was in fine form in every format and had a decent Ranji as well, although it wasn't exceptional. On the other hand, Gaikwad was way too behind in Ranji's ranking.

Once Pujara was superb is test batting, but recently his performance has declined. However, we hope he can bounce back soon and show us his best game again. As for other changes, perhaps it's time for some transition! India could benefit from some new, fresh talent those holds fine form. It's time to move on and give opportunities to the in form players.

Whatever, there are more poor performing players into the squad. What's the need to take him away from the squad. In the WTC except Rahane no one performed well. They dropped Rahane first, he went to Ranji and made runs against weaker teams (injuries in the team India helped) and back to vice captain post. Now it's happening with Pujara, sure he will play the domestic and County as well, he always does that but what about Kohli?

Selectors are not answering this question and no one is loving the approach of different yardsticks for different players.

The England women’s team needs 167 more to win in 95 overs. They have already lost four wickets. I am almost certain that this match is not going to end in a draw. The woman of England are actually trying to build up a partnership right now. The last wicket fell on 73.

I think England realizes that they will need to have a very good partnership to actually be able to win the test match. They should also realize that they are not going to see a draw in this test match. But of course, Australia is also looking to try to get one more wicket. That is going to make the day a lot better for Australia. I genuinely think that if England loses one more wicket today they are going to lose this test match.

You may set IPL as a platform to pick players for the national team T20 squad or at maximum, one day squad too but you cannot expect T20 players to perform equally well in the five day test match. The IPL format won't help in this case.

But since the IPL is the lifeline of BCCI, what are our options for them? One option and my personal favorite is to introduce an IPL test series too so that the Indian team can produce the Test Legends too. What about the IPL ODI Series too:

This way the Indian team will be playing two months of T20 IPL, 3 months of ODI IPL, and perhaps 5 months of Test Cricket IPL, making a total of 10 months busy in IPL out of 12 each year, leaving only 2 months for the exposure of International cricket.

The problem is that there is a huge gap between the quality of Ranji Trophy matches and international matches. Players such as Sarfaraz have never played against quality opposition. The BCCI is no longer interested in India A tours, which would have otherwise provided opportunity for such players to showcase their skills. Another option is to prove their worth by playing in the county championship, or in the Sheffield Shield. But it looks as if Sarfaraz Khan is not interested in doing that. Apart from Mumbai and IPL franchises, he has never represented any other teams.
