SMB preseason jinx continues as Terrence Romeo injures ankle

TERRENCE Romeo is the latest to get struck with the recent string of bad luck for San Miguel as he hurt his right ankle during a tuneup game against Alaska.

The flamboyant guard just hit a tough leaner over JVee Casio just before the halftime break when he tripped on an exercise equipment in the baseline.

It's another tough break for the Beermen, which will already lost June Mar Fajardo for the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup due to a fractured right tibia.

There are 3 SMB stars already injured.

1-Fajardo
2-Lassiter
3-Romeo

Another star being injured, knowing the stats  Romeo is providing to this franchise, without Fajardo it's expected that he will bring good numbers as he is known to be a Legit scorer.
It's not good for the team seeing one of those star are being added to their injury list and will be bench till prior advise from their doctors.

Hopefully this is not a serious injury like Fajardo suffered, if this needs an operation I doubt Romeo could ever play the coming conference and SMB's chance of winning will again decrease.

Baranggay Ginebra now is quite scary for all-Filipino cup especially when Jun Mar Fajardo got injured.
Baranggay Ginebra will really make a huge work here.

Btw, speaking of centers; Christian Standhardinger center for NorthPort Batang Pier is also one of my watchlists, Christian Standhardinger on NortPort is pretty suitable and can play comfortably.

I'm an SMB fan but TBH, there is a high chance that Ginebra will win this All Filipino Cup and end the era of SMB in this Conference.

With the loss of Standhardinger, include also what happened to June Mar, Lassiter and now Romeo who got a sprain when they are up against the Alaska Aces, I don't think that they are that strong enough to defend their crown and we also saw how Ginebra played last conference especially how Aguilar played. Even they don't have Slaughter, he is just a bench and he contributes a few on the team (for me).

NorthPort and TNT are the ones to watch for right now especially NorthPort. CStand is playing well on his current team right now.

With extended minutes chances of having some health issues will take place, Japeth needs to have some balance minutes and the rotation should be more focused from the outside they've needed Japeth from both ends offensive and defensive area, the guards should score more to lessen the need for Japeth to contribute from the offensive stats.

It's time for Stanley Pringle to carry this team, I know he can do that with the support of his teammates, IMO, he is the most capable of producing good offence in the team as he is not afraid to attract the paint and that is the thing they should focus since GSM is not really a good 3 point shooting team.

he will be more effective now that he is in a team where there's a lot of great players, if the coach would give him that freedom to shoot the ball more often then for sure he will have a good scoring this conference. Unlike in Northport, the Ginebra is more of a defensive team so we can expect they'll have an outstanding record this conference.

SMB is now used to play without Lassiter. They already worked on that. For Romeo, he only played for SMB for 1 whole season so I think the adjustment will not be difficult as they will just shift their guards back into their usual roles when Romeo wasn't there yet.

Only with the disappearance of Fajardo, I think they will make some big adjustments as Fajardo solely holds the Center position, unlike Romeo where there are lots of backups and replacements that can fill his position.

The next conference now becoming a more competitive one. SMB's offensive strength lessens a bit but it doesn't mean they will be removed as one of the favorites.

Interesting to see if what adjustment they've bring for Stanley knowing that there's no BrownLee to help them from this conference, knowing the characteristic of Stan he can create plays if coach Tim will let him though it's still LA who will manage the game plan but if LA will bring the ball
most of the time and allow Stan to make his move and go straight to the basket.
All filipino conference is now unpredictable since Fajardo is not there to play for SMB and adjustments from different teams are showing no one knows
who will dominate this season.

Maybe we can see a more competitive conference right now without Fajardo . We saw how SMB dominate the All Filipino Cup winning 5 or 6 straight titles.

With the absence of Fajardo too, now is the time for Tautuaa to step up and play like how he played when he is on NorthPort. Many are saying that the CStand - Tautuaa trade favored the NorthPort and I agree with that but I know how SMB will utilize and use Mo.

The only problem I see with SMB right now is their 2nd unit. Base on their roster right now, their 2nd unit is worse than some of the 2nd units of some teams but their coach is an excellent coach so I believe that they will make a huge adjustments here and they are the defending champs right now. They will not just lose here that easily.

I am not seeing that problem, they have veterans who can provide some energy in the floor so i don't really see it as a problem.
They will only miss 2 players at most which is JMF and Romeo (pending result).

Don't worry they will be okay, they'll compete but I don't expect them to be champ without JMF.

gives quality minutes to rest Aguilar.

That stem cell therapy is the advance therapy for athletes, eve in the NBA I think players also considered that, but Devance will not surely over exceed his stats, he will remain at par of his current stats.

Indeed, even he is not as stong as before, at least he still make ways to adapt like improving his perimeter shooting (do you notice it or it's just me? ). He is still definitely useful for the team and besides he already knew their coach than anyone else. Tim Cone got him wherever he go (since when they're on Alaska during the past) which only means that their player-coach relationship was already intact and that aspect of basketball is very important since it was a teamwork game afterall .

Veterans can provide guidance to the young players as well, his contribution to the team is very big and even playing with limited minutes only, he can play in crucial situation where his experience will be useful, just like mark the spark which was given a playing time in tough situation and he was able to change the scenario of the game.
