I understand the excitement of playing basketball again but these guys should follow the protocol that large gatherings are not allowed at the moment, not just in sports but for other regular activities as well. Just because IATF allows the resume of practice, players, even how popular they are, will just conduct a scrimmage.

For sure, there are other people here and not just players (obviously). The fine is small. Should serve a lesson if they will increase the fine.

Yes. That's one of the proposals I posted here before that might be considered if the league wants to push to resume. Since different PH regions do have their own quarantine status, PBA can choose to play outside Manila on a location where there is less strict status.

However, one problem is, that needs a decent budget since they have to rent the venue throughout the conference (around 3 months or less). Players and staff are not allowed to go back home (mostly in Manila) as part of staying in the said bubble. Regular testing should also be mandatory. PBA voice out concerns before about their loss so I doubt they will consider doing that.

Another problem is the location itself. Mostly, LGUs of the provinces don't allow visitors from those heavily infected areas. The reason some are against at "Balik-Probinsya" program that resulted in confirmed cases from those provinces with zero-cases.

There is also no venue there that can accommodate all PBA players and staffs and as @harizen said, a big money is needed and their revenue will only rely on Television viewers and to think that their rating is not that good even before the pandemic hits the country, except when Brgy. It is also stated in that article that they are fined for violating this protocol and fined P20K, told to undergo a swab test, and 30 hours of community service. I thought to practice is allowed right now but I guess some places are still restricting it.

I agree, however if they can comply to all the necessary procedures before going into idea of resuming the game. Then perhaps, it would be a good to go, I think? Not sayin' that they should deliberately continue the league neither not feared the virus itself but if they can do what the NBA league does then I think they are going to be fine. Have some sort of necessary test, quarantine, and whatnot. After all, staffs or employees who usually not seen on the camera needs the jobs to open again.

For the funds release for everything regarding on tackling this issue for sure the government funds will be drained and we don't have a choice so that we can kick up and continuously fight the virus, But it's good to see that majority of cities are now on GCQ since the economy is starting to kick up, and hopefully the private companies will help securing their workers and follow the health protocols so that we will beat this crisis and everything will go back to normal.

You have a point here bro but we must also see to it that our economy is moving. President Duterte has hinted in his report that the vaccine's availability is by December so this month onward we have to deal this virus without a cure but we can't hide from it. Businesses need to resume so that people will have work to feed their family but of course they have to always follow the minimum health protocol against covid.

The PBA's office has not yet release the guidelines of the league's resumption but i think safety of players and all others involved is the utmost priority. They can be in a bubble until the end of the season and arena would be crowdless, that would be the most safety scenario i think.

That's the reason why the government is slowly resuming back those businesses coming back since they cannot afford to much on this pandemic if theirs no revenue will came for sure we will sink and luckily we see some lights regarding on these kinds of events and I'm glad that we have a clear insight on when the game will start kicking.

That is reasonable. Remember that Meralco company does some magic in our electric consumption.

Just imagine the 8 hours or more of electricity consumption that supposed to be paid by companies now being shouldered by workers. That's not fair.

The problem is PBA is totally different from the NBA. NBA has lots of options for venues with hotels. They have big finance.

The preparations are not limited only to testing, quarantine, and safety measures. It needs big money to cover other aspects such as players and staff facilities, everyday rent for the venue and hotels, etc. Players are not allowed to go to their homes since they will be in the bubble. After all those spendings, the revenue is still in question because of no-audience. As I said in my previous post, they will only rely on television/pc viewers.

That's different because taxes paid by employees is very small compared to the amount paid by a corporation.
In fact, the government has increase the threshold of non taxable income for employees, so this benefited the employees who are only earning average salary. I noticed that our government now is protecting the small employees while they want to maximize the tax from big companies or corporation.

They are working from home, obviously, they are consuming their own electricity and using other things that would increase their bill.

They could help more if they will just exempt from tax those who are working at home, but we know our government, they are taxing everything, even the online sellers now are being obliged to pay taxes.

They should go for the big corporation as some of these corporations are not even playing the right taxes, one example is the ABS CBEnd, they are exposed now of underreporting their taxes to the government and it looks like their franchise will not be renewed.

Not sure if the ABS-Sports is also affected with this, we should concern about this since they are also covering basketball particularly the MPBL.

That makes sense. I remembered all of the posts I've read about people complaining about how large their bill is even though they are not really consuming that much. I don't know if that is a flaw on their side or maybe a misread of their bills since we all know how they make decisions since the lockdown happened like delaying their payment and some free bills.

I hope though that they pass this bill and make sure that these employers will be doing their job on correctly calculating the reduced tax these employees will be receiving. They're doing their jobs so I do hope they get something they deserve in return.

Now, this is really a good music to the ears of PBA fans. Just read it on my social media feed and i don't have link to it but i think this is legit news.

JUST IN | Resumption of games in PBA, pro leagues recommended; MPBL, other semi-pros not allowed until vaccine is available   

MEMBERS from various sports organizations, including the Philippine Basketball Association, met with the Department of Health, the Games and Amusement Board and the Philippine Sports Commission, which created a Joint Administrative Order on Thursday to discuss certain protocols to be followed in the resumption of training for professional and semi-pro leagues.

Atty. Melvin Mendoza represented the PBA as league commissioner Willie Marcial was in another meeting.   

In the joint administrative order by GAB, PSC and DoH, the following general guidelines were recommended:

1. Contact sports and activities for non-professional sports are not allowed at any time, until an effective vaccine and established standard of care is put in place for COVID-19 cases.

2. Contact sports and activities for professional sports are allowed in low risk areas, provided that the minimum public health standards are observed at all times.               

Under the 4Ps framework (person/participants, public/private location, physical environment and participation), the NCR, whose most municipalities are under the General Community Quarantine or under Moderate Risks Area, can have a maximum participants of five people attending the training. They are allowed to conduct training in a private or public place.

Unless the NCR is put on high risk or will return to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), games of the PBA and other pro leagues can resume, but might do it behind closed door or in just one secured area until such time an effective vaccine or appropriated standard of care for COVID-19 cases is developed.
       
On resumption of live audience, non-professional events such as tournaments, competitive events, and athletic meets shall not be permitted. Professional sporting events may be allowed in low-risk areas, provided such events are compliant to the minimum public health standards.

This developed as the PBA is set to meet with the coaches of 12 participating teams on Friday afternoon. Immediately after the meeting, Commissioner Marcial will gather the rest of the board members regarding their plans to resume training and eventually, the games.

So there we go, we will just wait on what will the outcome of the meeting tomorrow but it's sure that PBA will resume unless NCR will be reverted back to ECQ.
