It's time for us to help each other in time of crisis, those who are earning well can help the people who suffers due to this lock down, some does not even have a job and they need some help for their food. Everyone of us can help in any way, and I am just happy to read that one of the PBA players which I Idolize has its own way to help.

Terrence Romeo donating one month's salary for hospital supply
What a nice move from T.Romeo is will open the doors for those concern players and governors, hopefully they will see the value of unity in terms of helping people who are in need in times like this.
SMB star shows compassions and for sure we will see more after him.

And just to be clear, this Romeo's good initiative is now on the action for several days now. No public impressions, no social media posts or anything.

As per the article, also big thanks to Alaska coach Jeffrey Cariaso to raise two months' worth of wages for PBA game-day staff who have been hit hard by the suspension of games. They raised an initial P100,000 for the fund drive, which has since gained support from players CJ Perez (25,000), Chris Ross (P20,000) and Cliff Hodge (P20,000).

Other players are also reportedly doing their own way to help. They just want to keep it silent in the news as much as possible. Kudos to all!

If you think of it, that amount of money that they have donated is just penny for them as they earned millios of pesos but still it is a class act for them. I hope many will follow their acts as many people are in dire need of help from everybody.

Have not heard of the PBA donating something to a certain foundation or just no media coverage?

That's good, they re very helpful at the moment and we have to thank them for their personal initiative to help in the crisis.
The amount of money donated by Romeo is equivalent to 1 month salary but it was not mentioned in the article how much so let's just make an estimate.

I just found some info from this article. https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/smb-says-players-make-sacrifices-to-fit-romeo-pay-in-salary-cap-a2437-20190112

Quote
In Romeo's case, he signed a maximum three-year contract extension with GlobalPort (now NorthPort) worth P15.12 million back in 2016, but Non said that somewhere along his stops with the Batang Pier and TNT, there was a re-negotiation which brought down his pay to a little over P200,000 per month.

So my wild estimate is that Romeo's monthly salary is around 200K to 300k php.

Maybe they've chose not to publicize everything but for sure initiatives coming from those personalities are there. Good thing that Romeo's s started the noise and expect many players and coaches who will do the same.
Though they needed to ensure first the people around them before reaching out it's good to know that there are already someone like coach Jeff Cariaso doing the job.

Big or small donation it really matters, we are not a rich country, we need the support of the people who are earning well and PBA stars,we know they are making big money being an athlete, we can appreciate what Romeo did, he is not humble in the court but outside, he has an amazing personality.

Agree, all help is really needed during this trying times and i'm suddenly a Terrence Romeo fan lol. Donating his salary of more than 200k pesos is no joke. That's why we can't judge a person on how he act on the basketball court.

I salute you TR7 and i can't wait when JMF15 announces his donation for this crisis.

Of course we can expect from him as AFAIK, JMF15 is the highest paid athlete in the PBA, hopefully he will also extend some.
If I am also not mistaken, I think Fajardo is receiving a monthly salary of at least 500,000 php, so if he is really willing to donate, he can surely do so.

Good thing that Romeo's s started the noise and expect many players and coaches who will do the same.

Prior to Romeo, there are lots of players already who give help.

Players initiative already started and they already chip-in to built funds. I read this somewhere before Manila lockdown. I just forgot where it is.

Of course we can expect from him as AFAIK, JMF15 is the highest paid athlete in the PBA, hopefully he will also extend some.

As we speak, he surely giving a hand now or maybe done donating at some point but not just publicly announced.

Knowing JMF he is known for his helping hands.

..i can't wait when JMF15 announces his donation for this crisis.

I think this will not happen, I mean coming from him literally.

Like Terrence Romeo, it will come from other sources.

I agree. Also, he's one of the PBA players who first voiced out concerns about the virus spread in the country.

Just in others have missed, here's a video of him thanking all the front liners, a few days after Manila was put on quarantine

Maybe he already helped but not publicized as this guy is a silent type and if things go his way, he does not want to announce it to the media what he has done.

Speaking of JMF15, this lock down have somehow help the Beermen because there is a chance that Fajardo will be back on the Governor's Cup instead of the whole season.

What other teams have benefited by this lock down?

A good point. And who knows there is a chance for All-Filipino Cup comeback too. Grin

Other teams will not get benefited by this lockdown since once PBA games return, JuneMar Fajardo will now play lol.

Don't take this seriously. Smiley

But what else teams do have a major injury on their roster aside from SMB?

Speaking of JMF15, this lock down have somehow help the Beermen because there is a chance that Fajardo will be back on the Governor's Cup instead of the whole season.

What other teams have benefited by this lock down?

A good point. And who knows there is a chance for All-Filipino Cup comeback too. Grin

Other teams will not get benefited by this lockdown since once PBA games return, JuneMar Fajardo will now play lol.

Don't take this seriously. Smiley

But what else teams do have a major injury on their roster aside from SMB?

I think this lock down will not take the whole season of the PBA, in the NBA, they can cancel the whole season but in PBA they can only cancel the conference and maybe just move the date, and we have to understand that NBA and PBA are different since PBA season is composed of many conferences and according to the news I read before, Fajardo is not expected to return for 1 season.

What are you doing at the moment guys?

Me, just watching some highlights, I've watch the highlights of Abueva and his contribution to the Philippine team.
With his big contribution, I guess it's time for the PBA management to lift the ban, he already serve the punishment in a long period.

I also watch how good the line up when coach Tab was still coaching the Philippine team.
Romeo, Abueva, Castro, these are the energizers of the team, we are small but we fight with real heart, as they say "PUSO" and I really saw it that time.

What I am saying is, "WE NEED CALVIN IN THE PBA AND IN INTERNATIONAL GAMES".

Those guys, Romeo, Abueva and Castro were a fun to watch playing international basketball because of their agility and ability to score on their own. They may lack the size but they offset it with their big heart "PUSO".

With regards to Abueva, i think his suspension is nearing it's end and i think if he can show to the comissioner that he is helping people affected by this COVID, i think his suspension might be lifted and he can play when this crisis is over.

Agree with this, especially Romeo, he was so popular during the Jones cup and the fiba Asia, even in fiba world cup.
He was given a chance to show his talent and he did not fail the fans, I just don't understand why he was not selected to be part of the Gilas again when Coach yeng was handling the team.

I have not read any news regarding that, but that is good to know he is helping, hopefully he will be able to come back soon.

No matter how good or best a player is, there should be no exemption if they violate or do something bad in the league. It's kind of spoiling the player as they can get away easily because they are good at playing.

I'm also with you, we need Calvin but if he will return to being arrogant again then I like to see him done in the league.

But I'm sure he already learned his lesson. I want to see him back in a new form. As of the last update, he just needs to comply with a few guidelines and he can now come back to the league. Maybe once the PBA commence, there's a chance we can see him back at playing.

A good point. And who knows there is a chance for All-Filipino Cup comeback too. Grin

A return in the All-Filipino is a miracle for June Mar. SMB is not on a hurry now for his return because they have nothing to prove at this point. They already have the record of winning 5-consecutive All-Filipino trophy.

But what else teams do have a major injury on their roster aside from SMB?

It's Meralco i think. JMF15 and Slaughter is out and the next big man that is dominant in the middle is Almazan.

NorthPort. Cstand had a good showing in the Governor's Cup and even led his team to the Finals but they lack the key personnel that time. If Bolick will be back in the Philippine Cup then that would also be a fun to watch. Both are athletic and are not afraid of everybody.

And they actually have a pretty good 1 game, they were able to maximize Moala Tautuaa's talent with their big win against the Magnolia.
With the way they played, they are a good contented in the All Filipino cup and some of are were wrong that without Fajardo they are nothing.

It's time for the Northport, I believe they are better compared to the Meralco Bolts, but we can't underestimate the SMB here, they are playing with great chemistry, Romeo was leading the team in the  Center position, Tautuaa is very effective.

I know its just one game, but I am feeling positive that the current line up would go far in the conference.
