I think if he is out of contract now and he will get signed by a certain team, then for sure that team still sees he can contribute.
This guy is not active as well with the Bolts, and even if he will get sign, for sure he will only get a very small playing time.

Here is some information on Chris Lutz.

Quote
Meralco holds the rights to Lutz, who the franchise picked from the free-agency list after being let go by San Miguel.

Unfortunately, Lutz hasn’t played a single game for the Bolts since landing there in 2017, no thanks to an assortment of injuries to the foot, ankle and back that kept him from making a comeback.

This guy plays like Marcio Lassiter, good defender and a good wingman as well when he was healthy. As I've read in the article, a comeback is a slim possibility since he is not yet on basketball shape and father time is catching up on him.

Chris Lutz interested in a PBA comeback by next season, says agent

In addition: The article was published on December 2019. It might be irrelevant now since there is no new updates after that article that had been months old.

Yeah, I agreed there's just 1% possibility that he would come back and play Basketball again. I remembered, Lutz on SMB before precisely how you just described him. Cheesy

Thanks for that detailed information, that's why I don't see him anymore since he was not able to play even a single game with the Meralco Bolts.
What's important now is that he is still interested and I think he will not think of that if he can't still play anymore, the age does not matter in PBA since with corresponding age, you'll get a lower salary and maybe lower playing time, a lot of old players in the PBA that is still active now, so maybe he will be given a chance knowing this guy is once a good player when at his prime.

Taulava is still active, right? the oldest now.

Yeah, I agreed there's just 1% possibility that he would come back and play Basketball again.

This is too low, you guys really think he can't make it because you are just giving him 1% chance? lol...

Guys, Lutz was a great player, he was just sidelined because he was injured, but when he thinks he is healthy now, then I guess he can play.
Though he wasn't active anymore but his love for basketball will make him come back, and if ever he won't make it in the PBA, I'm sure he will be given a chance in other league in the Philippines like the MPBL.

Manny is waiting.  Grin

Correct, This guy have skills and talents to showcase, in-case PBA have no space for him there's still MPBL that can cater him and give him the chance to play back and share his skills.
If he feels that he already in good shape then it's time for him to playback and sign a new contract, whatever league it is as long as he can play the game for sure he will be good for it.

That's another option if he really want to play, for sure, with the big number of teams in MPBL, he will be able to sign a team.
Actually MPBL is also an exciting league, Manny did pretty well with making this league and lot of us have enjoyed watching it, however, since ABS CBN is close at the moment, what channel would televised the event once the league will resume?

For sure many teams will be happy if lutz will decide to join on MPBL but I don't think MPBL will be an option for lutz since the salary is low compare to PBA or in international league but maybe he will consider this option if he doesn't have any offer from any teams.

And that's the question on where MPBL will be televised tv 5 have PBA so I think this is a headache for Manny.

If he just really want to play again, he can't force himself to play in the PBA if no team will signed him anymore.
He is not getting any younger and he was inactive for quite awhile already, if MPBL opens up a door for him, then he could grab it and if he do better then probably he will get a chance to get back in the PBA again.

And that's the question on where MPBL will be televised tv 5 have PBA so I think this is a headache for Manny.

Those two are rivals, I won't expect TV 5 would allow, I guess since Manny was a talent of GMA before don't know currently,  the maybe he could get some slot for MPBL.

Taulava is still active, right? the oldest now.

Asi Taulava is active and this season should be his last dance in the PBA before assuming a coaching job at NLEX, he was promised that job by the management. I think he's the biggest loser of this pandemic because he might not be able to play on the last season of his career.

His case is different from that of RDO because he has still a live contract with NLEX and he can't simply announce that he is retired from playing in the PBA.

He is the oldest active PBA player right now, followed by Reynel Hugnatan if i am not mistaken.

Who would not know about this guy, he might be a big guy but I like his personality, he seem to be humble in the court and very friendly with his teammates. At this age, he is still participating in the international games, he made himself ready all the time for the Filipino fans, and actually I didn't know he will assume a coaching job, hopefully he will grow also as a coach.

I read an article about that here read it here guys https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/asi-taulava-on-retirement-plans-it-s-up-in-the-air-a793-20200512 but he mentioned about his still capable to play with maybe he will change his mind when all things clear out we know how asi love the game so maybe changes still there.

He's great player so provably the coaching position would fit on him since for sure his experience will help him lead his upcoming team if this really happens.

Asi taulava is still active and he is still a player for NLEX road warrior at the position of Center. Now, he is the oldest player and still playing his 18th season on the career of PBA. He also played on Blu detergent kings on 1997-1999, Mobiline Phone Pals/Talk n text phone pals from 1999 to 2007, Coca-Cola tigers from 2007 to 2010, Meralco bolts from 2010 to 2012 and he plays 1 year for San Miguel beermens before he starts to play with NLEX Road Warrior.

Asu is right. 1% is the possibility of Lutz return to PBA, I even give it a 0% chance. No team showed interest with Lutz when he was placed as an unrestricted free agent by SMB. It took days before Meralco signed him so surely they discussed it to their table first as it was a risky move.

This is not about being a great player but his hip injury and ankle injury are crucial to the point that it needs years of recovery. Maybe in 2017, he still has that interest to commit playing again at 100% but as years pass by, it's just an interest today but not 100% consider. He is not doing any physical activity for many years so it will take time before he will cope up as a player.

At 35 years old, I think he will be fit as a part of team staff instead of being a player.

I would just like to clarify that he was offered as an assistant coach for the team but who knows he could be a head coach someday. I just have read that article long time ago when coach Yeng assume the head coaching job at NLEX and Asi's playing time abruptly decreases and he don't like it.

I think we are seeing some light at the tunnel's end as PBA is taking a crucial step towards reopening the league. They will be testing all there regular employee from covid and the good news, it's for free.

The move, Marcial noted, is a major step towards the right direction in the league’s bid to finally resumes its 45th season that was stalled indefinitely following the outbreak of the pandemic.

PBA takes crucial step in restart plans with COVID-19 testing of employees

A good move. They must start it now so that the running period of when the virus symptoms will be shown now finally takes place.

14 days is the period and they can't test all their employees within a single day.

If the testing turned out good, I'm seeing a good announcement in September, the month where the fate of PBA will announce.

Hopefully the result of turnouts between the test will be good since Im sure many are waiting for the comeback of our favorite league especially its so boring during our quarantine days. Better to see them running without crowds than still waiting for the vaccine to come out since this one will take next year if they wait for this.

Hoping for a good results. If they decided to resume the league, I hope the players and coaching staff are safe too. They should provide weekly testing to prevent the spread of the virus through the players. Basketball is a contact sport. I'm scared if one of those players played as an asymptomatic, then the league will suffer more. Many players will caught the virus too. They may be no crowds in the audience, but the players are prone too. They should prioritize the safety of all involved if they decided to start it in a few months.

There is nothing to worry here, the PBA organization have enough time to carefully plan this come back if they will.
And with that said, I am sure all the measures necessary are already in their plan and it will be in place once the league will decide to resume.

No crowd, of course, that's the proposal of all sports now, they will resume but no crowd but I'm sure it will still be entertaining for the fans to once again see their favorite team starts playing,...

if their resume, what conference they are going to play? is it still the all filipino?

I think if they would resume this year, they would be playing the All Filipino Cup as imports/foreigners might not be allowed to came to the Philippines as of that time. For me, seeing the PBA back is a good sight whether it had an import or not. About the crowd control, i think they have the protocols on this one, two seats apart on the Big Dome might not be bad at all since there may not be too many people watching live PBA in the start, some would prefer watching it on television.

I guess it would do, if the public transport is already back with social distancing, then I guess they could also do this with sports.
However, this is not a necessity, so I think only few people will go to the venue and watch the game, most of us will just wait and watch it in live TV, safer for us and i think we can still get the satisfaction we like to achieve.

I know the malls are already open in Manila, isn't it riskier than going in an arena to watch sports where people can do the social distancing?

What I mean is that in malls, it's hard to do the social distancing as usually those who went malling are families and friends, have to do social distancing knowing you know each other and its your time to bond.
