I respect your opinion, I like Kai Sotto too, this guy is so hype and in terms of training, he has the advantage since he is currently training in USA and has a lot of achievement already for a Filipino player. I think we can only compare if he will play with the PBA which for sure lot of teams will be going after him, but even for now, I think Kai Sotto has a better future outside the Philippines.

This is because not all Filipinos are born tall. Base on my experience in watching, there are not so many talented bigs in the league compare to other positions where there are many who always shine. JMF utilizes his height and Ildefonso's advice and we know what happened already.

He is now one of the best if not the best right now with many achievements and he is still on his prime. I just hope that injury doesn't come to him or his career will be doomed. (SMB Fan here ).

They are young and they are hungry, so I think they had a good chance to be a contender when the PBA resume.

I might have a different view for NorthPort once PBA resume, Northport will not stand a chance in All-Filipino. The only chance I'm seeing them be a contender is for conferences that involves import players. Maybe if they will do something to overhaul their lineup, in 2-3 years, they might be one of the contender in All-Filipino.

Being young and hungry is not enough. There are only few scenarios in PBA wherein a young player explodes and carries the team into a good position. I see that will not be the case in Northport.

Yes, this is the first step and slowly PBA will reach the final step to resume.

The final step is on the hands of the government, shifting Manila to GCQ to MGCQ so that they can now submit their recommendation to IATF and wait for the approval.

But if given, also like to see their own step such as how would be the setup for the venue. That was part of the requirements. Almost just a month before the PBA announcement, I'm expecting they will give the public insights about their preparations. Maybe that will be the next after testing all players and staff.

Even in other leagues or the NBA to be specific, big guys can receive a good contract as long as they played well as it's hard to find big guys that can contribute to the team very well, so they are well paid and they are in demand. Much more in the Philippines that our average height is just 5'1 or 5'2 (not sure about this) and we are second-shortest in Southeast Asia, so it's very rare to find someone like Fajardo's height which is also a full-blooded Filipino.

True, even in the world cup qualifier brawl between the Gilas and Australia, he never get himself involved, some were saying that Fajardo is a coward but they are wrong, what Fajardo did was just right, it's not good to get into the fight since we are the host country.

According to the article I read a while ago, if the PBA will receive an approval from IATF  for them to allow to practice, they would also expect that they will be given an approval to play in actual games. Don't worry guys, we will know it soon because this month is about to end already, we only have 1 week.

Gabe Norwood ended at round 3 after he loss to Arsalan Kazemi (IRAN) with a winning vote percentage of 60.02%.

Still a close fight and still the best dunk way back 2014 were G. Norwood posterized Luis Scola in FIBA.

It's quite fun for us to watch but it's not a good thing to be proud of.

No one is proud for what happened.
It's just will remain in the philippines history as this fight is aired internationally and locally.

I'm on the side that Kai Sotto won't surpass JMF. I hope I'm wrong though. Still early to tell.

To surpass JMF, he should also play in PBA. There are lots of popular players coming from being a dominant player in universities league that became trash when they drafted to PBA. That's how difficult the competition in the PBA. Even he undergoes a special practice or join exhibition match outside the country, that is not an assurance that he can cope up with the PBA environment. Big example, Kobe Paras. I pick him over Kai, more athletic with good handling. Trained and play in the US for years against the other race which is much larger and dominant compare to him. But yet, when he comes back here, struggling at UAAP so just imagined if he will play for PBA.

Kai Sotto will surely be improved. He is determined to that. But surpassing JMF, I don't see it to him. I like to see him be part of the National Team. That would be a great help.

Kai Sotto reminds me of Japeth Aguilar, tall and athletic and i think he trained in the US too (not sure on this one) and so much hype on him back then but he did not dominate and not a single MVP award for him. He even can't stop Fajardo in the low post. If Kai wants to withstand the banging down low, he need to add muscle which could affect his mobility and he may become a taller version of Greg Slaughter  . The training he had now is more on Euro type, tall that can shoot beyond the arc but let us remember what Lakay have told Abai that in the PBA, money is in the low post.

Personally, i pity the kid as media is putting a lot of pressure on him to become the first pure blooded Filipino to join the NBA but i just don't see it in him this early, hope i'm wrong.

AFAIK, Kai Sotto is in the now in the NBA G-League.

Uhh..you guys see Kai Sotto as a PBA player, but for me I see him being like Porzingis, he's not just seven-foot stiff. He's skilled inside and out and can even bring the ball on the other court with great speed.

There's just much room for him to his development. Next year he'll be playing with talented players, probably he won't be scoring much and will focus on improving he's defense skill set and outside shooting.

If ever that KAI choose to play locally match up between him and JMF is no longer that exciting, as mentioned JMF is no longer on its prime plus those injuries that he already have while KAI attends special practices and more advanced trainings abroad. Though the chance still slim since KAI really aiming to play to NBA and be the first pure blood pinoy to represent our country.
It's a big achievement for our fellow kabayan, he had the height and the skills all he needs for now is more exposures so media will hype his way to the NBA.

I don't think he needs more media attention.
He's being on it and a lot of hype now for Kai Sotoo is happening in US.
All he need is a room for his skill development that will take a lot of time and how fast learner and his body will take it.

Recent update on June 23' meeting between PBA and team representative (players): PBA players 'unanimous' in willingness to play if season resumes

There is only few information here. One thing is clear, there are no preparations or fixed plans yet (beforehand) and all are just on the table waiting to be discussed. I thought of least there are fixed plans now like how will be their "bubble" looks like.

Well then, good to see that there's progress especially this:

Yup, end of discussion on who's the better of them when Kai will be drafted by the NBA but still he has not surpass what record Fajardo has broken in the PBA  . Kai don't need to meet Fajardo on the court to be considered one of PBA's great player, all he need to do is to dominate when he is in.

When Kai was in high school, literally he is the tallest of them all but he never became a champion, why is that? He never lack the training and for me he is the one who got the best training of all the high school players in the Philippines but sad to say he  never have a championship trophy to show in the UAAP high school.
