He already serve the country and giving chances to new young stars are better instead of placing yourself into international competitions where speed is really needed. He's mentality is not replaceable but he's not getting any younger and new players coming from other countries will add more difficulty for him to stand up, he should now focus with his local career before retiring his jersey. He will continue be known as Asia's best point guard.

I agree with that, maybe he needs to give it to the young stars, castro have already proven himself, they were able to qualify in the FIBA world, that's a big achievement already since we are not really good competing with the big guys or big teams in the FIBA world, that's why to qualify is such a big achievement already.

We're good, man. We just lack of some sort of an offensive as caliber as the intertional teams. There were teams who closely the same height as our players but had managed well to compete against big guys. It is not that big guys rules the game, it is IMO how robust the defense, and how solid the offense the team executes.

Well anyway, going back to Castro. Yeah, couldn't agree more, he had done enough for the team, he made a name in the league as well, and he needs to rest and watch over for the new, young guys who'll be next faces of the team. And talk about new guys, new faces, I just can't wait for Kai Sotto and Kobe Paras to be in the roster since these two are the most mentioned name and had show-off skills before, not to mention Jordan Clarkson who compete well though he's totally new with gilas playstyle.

We need tall guards, if you look at the line up of the other teams, they average like around 6'5" in height, but for us I think 6 only or even lower as we have guards with height lower than 6. Of course, Sotto, Paras. and Clarkson could help but they have an international commitment now, except Paras and who knows Sotto might be an NBA player someday.

It's not appropriate to say that Castro should give a chance to young players because after all, he doesn't control it. Choosing a Gilas All-Star player is done by the agreement of coaches and management. If they lack players on the position, there are times that the national team called help for veterans like Jimmy Alapag and Asi Taulava did since the preferred ones are under a strict rule of the management or should I say, rights.

Team management of PBA should not be selfish if the nationals want to choose a player. But since Castro does have a replacement, I think the current pool is looking good.

The player will have the say in the end whether he will play or not, in the case of Castro, he hasn't played in the last FIBA, not sure if that time he is still under suspension, but let's see in the next FIBA if he will be available, the way Castro talk that he wants to win a championship before he retires, looks like he is planning an early retirement to maybe focus on his family and his business.

If my memory is correct he didn't play due to health condition, and I agree players still have the final say as the coaches and management of PH team will send invitations to those players that they've think was qualified for the criterias that they are looking.

In regards to Castro, he served the country with his best nothing to ask from him.

Clarkson has legal problem for him to play in FIBA, i don't think they could iron it out in the near future.

Same, I don't really have high expectation with Kobe Paras since I've seen him play in the UAAP. Honestly, before entering the league I expected a lot from him, I though I would see him demolishing every UAAP player but I just saw him play like a regular player. I am more impressed with Rhenz Abando and Thirdy Ravena. I just hope Kobe will step up his game because am still hopeful that he'll improve for the Gilas pool in the future.

TBH, I've not seen him played yet with UAAP but i have seen a lot of his videos that was hype during his time in the USA.
I was also thinking that he will be good in the Philippines but we might need to see him train more with good trainers so he will improve.
he got the skills, the size and the height, that's enough to dominate in the PBA as soon as he gets drafted.

It seems like there will be no PBA season this year as it's possible that it will be cancelled.

We still have plenty of time, we can still remain positive although the rate is still increasing now. PBA provides entertainment for the Filipino people who loves basketball but them cancelling the season is due to a big valid reason, we will accept if they'll do. Total cases in the Philippines is close to 10,000.. everyday there's an increase, only quarantine would be the solution for now.

For many this type of events when get cancelled is heart-breaking as people who are fan or love for this game and passionate about it waits for this event. Unfortunately, Covid 2019 has just being a nightmare which has broken the hopes that this event could still be held due to various reasons. Though we still hope that vaccine if can be available soon things may turn around quickly.

There's no option if the government insist that this kind of gatherings still prohibited  the commissioners needs to follow. It's really alarming since the numbers of affected people are still increasing while the government are planning to ends up the lockdown till May 15.
It's acceptable in case until August the affected numbers are not doing any better.

Unfortunately, we can't expect that the vaccine will be available soon, there's no cure yet, the government has no announce any, what they announce is that they are close to finding a cure but that words are empty if we can't see a medicine that is proven to defeat the virus.

2019 is a nightmare for all of us, our country will struggle for sure, as the virus still active, our government will have to spend for the people which is not even enough for most of us to buy our daily needs for a certain period of quarantine.

It seems like there will be no PBA season this year as it's possible that it will be cancelled.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the board met on Saturday to discuss the plans of the remainder of the year in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, and they have set an August timeline as to how the 2020 season will be played.

we will know by August then.

The upcoming GCQ after May 15th will not allow any sports events. Businesses will slowly open but all workers aren't allowed to report for work every day, still, they will be on the skeletal work mode system. The number of confirmed cases in the country increases every day. Some who recovered are not totally virus free. It means there is no shortcut to have 100% virus-free within 3 months even today the vaccine will be available.

PBA board of governors should already know that 3 months timeframe to see what's the progress of the Covid-19 in the country shouldn't be the basis if they will still push the current season. "Virus-free or not within 3 months", they must not engage quickly into mass gathering activity because it might trigger again the gun.

I'm positive that we will have good progress within 3 months but let the whole community back to normal slowly without going back literally to where we are or what we do prior to the pandemic virus.

Resetting the PBA season next year will not really harm the current season since only a single game played and they are just in the first conference of the season. Or if they really like to continue the season, as we understand their employees also need to come back at work, extend their timeframe by a month or two, and only push the AFC. Limiting the crowd, or totally not having a crowd can also consider. Even fans missed watching the PBA live I doubt they will consider doing it right away even the government will say, it's now ok to go outside without any caution.

I'm also positive about the outcome in next 3 months since I believe that by that time we have successful cure since for sure 1 of those vaccine/drugs that are in clinical trials right now will be successful.

But for now even if we are un GCQ still we cannot expect to see the PBA coming back since for sure the government would not let any gatherings that will contribute for second wave.

And best to reset the season so that it cannot ruin the history and start again with new season since for sure the fans would love to see a new action rather than seeing an old competition where we don't know if players are fit to run since they are just newly coming back from quarantine.

Just being being optimistic here lol, by August the covid situation here in the Philippines will be good. June scenario might be looking bad but with the adjustments made by the government and people cooperating that time, by July things will improve. April and May were the months where we have the worst scenario as some people think that this problem is not serious but once they will feel the effects of the lock downs it would somehow change their idea of the crisis thus making them obey the rules. So by August we have an improved scenario as far as the covid crisis is concern.

If the PBA would resume by that time i think the season would only cater the AFC which for me would still be okay and if the would decide to cancel the whole season then i think the biggest winner here is JMF lol. It would be destiny if he would capture his seventh MVP trophy by then.

Maybe it's possible to reset the season because this 2020 season, the start is the Philippine cup and they only played one game before the PBA was suspended, resetting is just like cancelling the season too I guess. If the season will start, they will not start right away, maybe they will still follow the schedule but I am sure the players are well aware and they will start training again.

If the situation of our country against the midst of the coronavirus pandemic has been stabilize. A huge possibility that the 45th season would be continue. Vice versa.

No, the season would not continue when there is no vaccine, so the organization are just being realistic with their plan, it's better to know what's coming and make a timely decision that let the fans expect on anything that would not likely to happen.
