Blackwater is leaving the PBA. This might have something to do with Blackwater's alleged violation of quarantine protocols where the team return to practice prematurely.

I'm open to entertain interested parties as it's hard for me to continue supporting the PBA when my heart is no longer there.

Is the owner of the team serious?

I have read first in the social media news feeds that Blackwater Elite violated the PBA protocol to return practice even IATF already gave a go signal to some sports leagues that they can resume the practice. PBA has its own protocol before resuming the practice which is good. Allowing the practice should be on July 22 which is just few days to go. What the heck this team is thinking?

And now their team owner thinks he was offended because of the penalty so now he is now making sounds that he is offering the team on the sale.

I think this is more personal than financial issues. The league will truly hurt if the franchise will exit but PBA doesn't need this arrogant team owner to be part of the league. Let's wait for the progress of the story.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Selling of a team is not new in the PBA, it even happened in the NBA, so let's see who would be interested to by the team, maybe the team would improve under the new owner. I guess the owner was offended and at the same time maybe he is not happy with the team anymore as they have been tanking for many years already, so this timing just happen and I wish there would really interest the team and put their passion to improve Blackwater Elite.

I think now that this is an issue of ego. This is some sort of a counter attack to what sanction PBA might to the team for violating the protocol. The owner issued a statement saying he was bullied but with his actions, i think he is the bully.

I think @goinmerry is right, this team owner of Blackwater is arrogant. Selling the team around Php150 million is unbelievable. Do someone in his right mind will buy this team at this much with it's current status?

I guess a lot of business minded people will be interested with that.

Lots of team will likely to occupied and buy this franchise in case the owner is really serious to sell it out, I
remember Chocks to go owner wanted to join the PBA but haven't got the
franchise availability.
Hopefully as there's no reason the owner would still grow the team if he just like to sell it, and hopefully that statement would not affect its players and staff working for the team.

I think Manny can acquire the team if he likes, was Manny still the owner of the KIA team in the PBA which is  currently the colombyian DYIP?
Anyone know about this team? they always change but the last time I saw Manny was when he is with the KIA.

Not sure but if my memory recalls me way back, it's Mr. Jose Alvarez who own this franchise, but for sure Manny had the influenced
from this team, but after MPBL he haven't seen from the league anymore. If

Thanks for the opinion anyway, that helps, I realized manny has MPBL so he would not venture with the PBA as it could be a conflict of interest.

That's the right definition on why Manny will not buy a team in the PBA, MPBL is his own league, they are a competitor of the PBA I guess, and that league is really getting more popular, it just stop just like the PBA due to the pandemic.

Selling the team around Php150 million is unbelievable. Do someone in his right mind will buy this team at this much with it's current status?

I was thinking the price is just fair, lol... I have no idea on the average market value for a PBA team, including the SMB teams.

What's happening right now is just for the short term and buying a franchise in PBA will be a long term.
Right now, many businessman are calling him to buy his franchise already. They don't care what is happening right now because businessmen always foresee the long term benefits of their decisions. I think that amount is fair already. Lets just wait for whoever will get the franchise.

I guess that's fair, NBA team market valued is worth $1.9 billion, and the team Knicks is valued at $4 Billion per this report.

The average NBA team is worth $1.9 billion, up 13% over last year and three times the level of five years ago.

not sure if we can use this figure to estimate the market value of the PBA, maybe the insiders know but I can't read it in public articles.

It won't be long for that to settled, knowing that there are businessman who also wanted to join this league. 150M is not that huge to those billionaires if they see good value of money for long term advertisement, and for sure there are many privilege aside from getting your business a free media advertisements.

Let's wait for further development if this blackwater really serious in selling their franchise and who will be the bidders that will take place in case the process has been made.

About this topic.

Filmanbank is first PBA team sold; Barako the last one. Is Blackwater next?

and from the article, here's an idea on the price of the PBA team .

Quote
It finally garnered the required two-thirds vote from the Board of Governors in 2016, completing its acquisition of the the Barako Bull franchise for a reported P100 million.

So maybe the price of this team is quite expensive when it's not that competitive like the Barako Bull franchise in the past.

If there's a rumor maybe there's a negotiation happening regarding on this things, But I have a feeling that the owner will do that since they didn't even reach to higher spot and they struggle for several years. Maybe the team owner has got enough on the losses they get that's why they decide to sell the team.

But we cannot conclude that this is final and lets wait for more details about this topic.

There's no rumor yet, it was the owner who announce that he is selling his team, for sure he is not joking.
Announcement for selling the team came after they were sanction for the violation, here's the story about the violation

https://dailyguardian.com.ph/gab-sanctions-blackwater-for-training-violation/

Quote
The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) is planning to issue out sanctions to the PBA team Blackwater Elite for conducting training sessions ahead of the proposed schedule by the league.

I agree with some replies above that the "selling issue" is more of a personal issue. It's clear that the Blackwater team owner is frustrated because they have slapped by the PBA with the penalty. In other words, there is no plan of selling the team right from the beginning because if do, they should announced it earlier and no need to go on practice. It looks like a protest for me in response to what the PBA did.

I don't see any wrong for what the PBA did as the pandemic should be treated seriously. Just a simple rule and they can't follow, Php 100,000 penalty is just candy to them. So arrogant that the owner didn't see the effort of whole league and teams to prepare for their resume. And now what, because of the team owner's action, PBA is now concern that it won’t jeopardize the league’s return.

True, there's no other reason for him to sell that, he got offended with the discipline or sanction by the PBA organization so he decided to sell his team, looks like a childish mind, lol.. anyway, if that would be his decision then be it, and hopefully whoever will buy this team will improve this team so they would be a contender and not just trading good players to other teams.

The PBA is very strict with the implementation, prior to this incident, there are already players that are sanction for violating the rules, but this is the whole team violating and with the knowledge of their management so it's a big thing, if they want the PBA to resume for profit, they need to cooperate, more work and less complain.

Participation as whole, if everyone inside the umbrella of PBA wanted to have a smooth resume, they need to sacrifice
by following this strict rules from the governors, there's no need to act like a child and thinks that you are just being bullied,.

PBA needs to implement what the government rules has been instruct them in order to to have a save resume without compromising
everyone who works inside.

The government does not allow the sports for now to operate. This is base on IATF rules and this applied in the whole nation of the Philippines. If the attempt to open this sports failed then we do not have any choice but to obey the rules and regulations.

Besides, if they really wish this to continue and the government will allow of course all risk will goes to organizer and government will make an agreement that they will not be held liable to occurence any health problems or even casualty due to covid19. All blame will be to the organizers.

There's nothing to blame here but them since it's them who are making the rules and implementing the protocol set by the authorities, but they will surely take the risk and will take the blame just for them to get the go signal to open the season, that is why they are strict now, they sanctioned those who did not follow the simple rules and the sanction is for everyone, even the owner of the team, see above posts.

In addition to this, we know that businessmen are always seeing the long term of it so that 150M is just a tip of their total revenue that they can get if they will buy the franchise. The owner of Blackwater is serious already that he will sell the franchise to other people but right now, there are no news into who are the possible buyers of the franchise.

I agree with some replies above that the "selling issue" is more of a personal issue. It's clear that the Blackwater team owner is frustrated because they have slapped by the PBA with the penalty. Another reason why he decided to sell the franchise is because he doesn't have the passion already to continue what he started in PBA and their penalty is just another reason. Well, in the end its already decided that he will sell it and will focus in other business matters so lets just wait for another news about it or who will be the possible buyers or who will buy.

Yeah, rules are meant to be followed for everyone, no special treatment for that, and I like the action of the PBA management to penalized or sanction those who violate a simple rules. NBA will soon resume, they might want to follow, so they follow the model of implementation NBA has been doing.

Could be due to the status of the team in the PBA, BlackWater is part of the team where we can call  shitty teams, this team was only getting the attention of the fans when Ray Parks joined the team but later he was traded to TNT, so Blackwater back to its normal state.

If one would buy the franchise, it should be from those who are capable of getting great players and they can compete with the salary so Blackwater will compete with the SMB  and TNT.

I'm wondering if Dennis Uy still own a team in the PBA, maybe he can acquire that team and rename it to Dito Telecom if possible.

Yes, he still owned a team in the PBA.

you can read this one, https://pba.ph/news/pba-team-owners-draw-special-thanks-from-duterte

Quote
Business giants Ramon S. Ang and Manny V. Pangilinan and the Udena Foundation of Dennis Uy, all part of the PBA family, drew special thanks from President Rodrigo Duterte in the latter's latest address to the nation entering the third week of period of community quarantine amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

It can also be read here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Super_LPG_Fuel_Masters

Looks like another sanction incoming for the Blackwater Elite owner as the PBA board takes offense on his statement about selling his team.

https://sports.inquirer.net/398637/blackwater-owner-sy-in-even-troubled-water-as-pba-board-takes-offense

Quote
League chair Ricky Vargas said in an interview on Thursday that Sy’s comments have serious repercussions. And though him allowing his team to practice last week was an “operational matter that the Office of the Commissioner will deal with,” threatening to sell his franchise will not be taken lightly by the board.
