As what we were talking, PBA is now on track of starting its 46th season as vaccine is already available for them. PBA gets added COVID-19 vaccines courtesy of MVP
THE PBA expressed gratitude to sportsman-businessman Manny V. Pangilinan for allotting a number of COVID-19 vaccines for use by the league in the coming 46th season.
Board Vice Chairman Bobby Rosales disclosed on Tuesday that Pangilinan is providing AztraZeneca vaccines for players and personnel of the league especially with Asia's pioneering pro league looking at adopting a closed-circuit system when the Philippine Cup tentatively set to start on April 11.
Pangilinan, who owns the three teams under the MVP group, namely TnT Tropang Giga, NLEX, and Meralco, expressed to donate 3,000 doses of the vaccine for 1,500 members of the PBA family.
"For that, we are very grateful for MVP for looking after the welfare of the players of all teams and their dependents," said Rosales in the virtual press conference that proceeded the two-day planning session held by the league Board.
"Anytime the vaccines arrive, this will be offered and given to the players and their dependents."

About the influence of bigger people in the league, there's always that pick that's favorable to a bigger team and has a known boss. But we only hear those rumors. For which, we think that there's really an influence coming from them and for roster changes and transfers and as well as game results. Again, it's all just rumors IMHO.
Of course because they will never admit it, it will not help the reputation of the PBA but in reality it's the big teams that are controlling the PBA. Coach Yeng was right on his statement that it's high time to increase the number of teams in the PBA, let the other big players come and play so we will see more action and not just one or two teams making themselves a super team. IIRC, there's one player that have been vocal about that issue. But he's not a player in today's time but it was in the past. I just watched a video about those players who have been kicked out of the league because of that reason. He was too vocal that he's able to mention this rumor which seems to be true. Because if it's just a rumor, they won't kick that player. I forgot that name but if you'll ever search it on FB, you'll see that video as a list of those kicked out players.

What a great gesture by MVP, being so thoughtful on the people of the PBA and being betrayed by his player, Ray Parks hehe. Kidding aside, I think more vaccine doses will be coming to the PBA as the top management of SMC, courtesy of RSA is also planning the same so we might be able to see PBA games live in the arena next month if everything goes smoothly as planned. Last time I've read in the news that the PBA board is planning a two conference season, All-Filipino Cup and Governor's Cup with an import so I think the board is very confident that imports can already play in Philippine soil in the coming months.

I'm happy to see this news, MVP is the real MVP as without his support we would not feel this kind of assurance that PBA will resume and they don't have to play a bubble style anymore. Probably there will be crowd but a small crowd compared to the pre covid numbers but it's still a great start so hopefully the development will continue and we will be seeing PBA coming back in a better new season.

@Finestream, this is the biggest news by far, PBA is ensuring that vaccine are available to the PBA players and staff before they will open the new season. It will be a month from now and we will see it opened with some big changes on team's line up for some teams.
Thanks for this update, I'm also happy to know that finally the fear and doubt is now gone.
Since MVP does not only own a big teams in the PBA, i think @bisdak is correct that SMC group would also do the same.

MVP and SMC are long time rivals already in PBA and some are thinking that the league itself rotates on these 2 companies only and those independent teams?? Hmmmmm Anyway, thanks to MVP since he will donate dozes of Aztrazeneca to the players and officials.
If you may, I find another interesting topic aside from the Ray Parks issue . Looks like after getting Standhardinger from NorthPort, SMC is eyeing to get Bollick now but this time on SMB. Ginebra got CStan and now SMB wants Bollick. Any takeaways with this?? I think it is just a rumor though but we know how credible this person is

I admire both players Bollick and Perez, they played well during their Rookie season and if only Bollick was not injured, he maybe able to show his strength to help his team. He will be a big help to the SMB to become a better team and this is a good place for him as this team is the favorites to with the championship so most probably players will work harder to get a bonus.

So Greg Slaughter was basically thrown under the bus and didn't have the liberty to even consider the trade. Can he sue the management for that non-consented trade?

Or it could be Greg Slaughter was the one lying . Even before he went to the states, rumors were already there that he will be traded. The moment C-Stand was traded to NorthPort, is the time the rumors started. As we can notice, his playing time decreased and he was way off as far as his play is concern, he was not the usual Greg Slaughter that we knew. ~snip~
You just unmasked our gossips source mate lol.

He cannot do that, as a player the management has the right to trade if they see they will be getting a better player in exchange. That is purely business, nothing stays in a team forever, unless he will not change and continue to impress the management, in the case of Greg, he was as explosive as he was when during his early years in the Ginebra San Miguel.

Yup, as a professional basketball player he should understand that the PBA is purely business and he can be traded anytime if he can't deliver what was expected of him. ATM, it is only the name Junemar Fajardo who is secured as far as trading is concern but it would change the moment his skills decline in the coming years.

I get it thank you, but don't you think that it is a little bit scummy that the player has no say as to what the management decides because I think that it is unfair.

What if there's a statement under his contract in his former team that he can be traded anytime the management of the team desires? He has no option with such trades but to just go elsewhere he's traded by his team or should we call, company.

There's always legal basis before things happened, if that trade isn't there with his contract he can always sue his team, but I doubt that it isn't there knowing how big SMC was. Greg knows about it and he might have no other options instead of not playing he accepted the fact that it's already his fate being traded to another team, the very chance to ends up his career. Better than nothing maybe, if you love the sport you'll continue to play to whatever team you might be moving.

And you have no option since you're tied with the contract and the PBA itself is the corporation where all of the players are their employees. Whatever is the decision of the team and the management, he can't go against what they've planned for.

We don't know who is telling the truth, he made his statement then we will have to wait until the Ginebra will make theirs too. It's hard to speculate, the deal is already done, C. Stand going to play with the Ginebra while Slaugher going to North Port, hopefully this will not become a big issue and he will just focus on his new team. Whatever is the decision of the team and the management, he can't go against what they've planned for.
He already signed a new contract, any violation of the contract will have a serious consequences.

Add the fact that SMB's star players are at the age of 30's already, they really need a young superstar. They got Perez already and now they want more young superstars and Bollick could really be a big help for the team to retain its current position right now as a championship contender. Why they are going to those 3 teams?? Money is the only thing that I see why they are trading players. Another one possibly would be their performance. Bollick injured and didn't play for a long time thus, he can't help his team anymore. I just hope that if Bollick will continue to go to SMB, he will not be that prone to injuries anymore. I can call this the "Thirdy Effect" . What they only need is one player who has the initiative to go and play outside the country so that other players will follow him. Thirdy did it and now his brother Kiefer will be the next one. There is a possibility in the future that other star players here in the country might choose to play outside the country because of salary rather than playing in PBA. Still a good decision for him though. Additional experience for him.

But I don't think he'll do that, it's his career and livelihood that's at stake. This is also good for the other aspiring new PBA players, if someone like Kiefer will come out and will take offers abroad, this will open opportunity for the other players that are waiting to be drafted.
