Guiao prefers mandatory PBA vaccination over another bubble seasonIf all the players and staff are getting the vaccine, then they can play in an arena while they can go to their family after the game. Unlike in bubble where they will have to sacrifice and stay in one location. So hopefully they have enough vaccine prior the start of the new season. Coach Yeng Guiao's suggestion is good but it's easier said than done. Vaccines are limited and even the government allows private buying, there's no vaccine available that can be purchased easily. If the league will buy vaccines, it will take several months before they can settle an agreement. If they really want to save that P65 million to P70M then don't think of opening the PBA for the meantime and wait for several months even it will take the opening to 4Q. But if they will still push it, maybe this month or next month, then bubble setup is necessary. And there's another problem with the vaccine through Astra Zeneca, they've halted the usage of it for people who are aging 60 and below. And that's going to be an obstacle if they prefer to have more vaccination than the bubble which is a better idea. Well, it's for them to tackle it and to choose with of those which they think is preferable and better.

I guess they can get vaccine from different supplier, I believe we have a lot of supplier of vaccines that is arriving, so to make it sure everyone is being catered with their needs, there should be a lot of option. For now let's not expect a regular format, a bubble is more suited in the situation but the moment the management is sure that everyone is getting the vaccine, they can always swith it to normal, but no crowd yet or probably limited only.

Just like to refresh everyone on the PBA's plan before the ECQ happen. Next PBA season to start April
It's suppose to be starting this month, but as we can see, there's no certainty whether it will start or not, they don't want to violate the protocol so they should careflly plan it. Hopefully we will be hearing more updates regarding the opening of the new season. For now let's not expect a regular format, a bubble is more suited in the situation but the moment the management is sure that everyone is getting the vaccine, they can always swith it to normal, but no crowd yet or probably limited only.
I'm not expecting as well but I'm expecting the new season will start soon. ( soon means this month or next month)

Vaccines is very important but just like what you pointed out, such deal might take awhile as there's high loads from pharmaceuticals hard to get those meds to supply the league's needs. Sad thing if this league needs to push then a bubble set up is needed.

Not that much to arrive, from Pfizer, the government only got around 117k and that's not much that our government has taken. Johnson and Johnson has already been approved by our FDA and I think they can order from there but the question if these manufacturers can cater their order since there's a lot of orders from different parts of the world.

Another thing to consider, Covid is not only here but in most part of the world if not everywhere, it will be difficult to find supplier to cater those orders in a much shorter period. PBA needs to consider every possible solution if they really wanted to push forward. That proposal considering players to get vaccinated might give some breathing to the players and staff as they don't need to lock themselves inside the chosen venue, they can go home after the game and live normally.

PBA players would be the second priority of the government in terms of public vaccination especially because of the shortage of supply in the Philippines, Addition to that AstraZeneca (One of the approved COVID vaccine) were suspended due to unsafe side effects which makes the vaccine supply stiffer in the Philippines. I also think that bubble wouldn't be effective on PBA right now, With the super-fast growing case on NCR+, It would be pretty hard as of now for them to establish a place where the bubble will happen. With the current situation right now in the Philippines, It will be really hard for them to operate events right now.

PBA players aren't handled by the government in terms of vaccination. Not the usual, 1st priority will be healthcare, then seniors, then so on. The government allows private companies to purchase their own vaccine with a certain condition currently that there should be donated to the government (if I'm not mistaken 50%). The agreement to the vaccine manufacturers will be done by the private companies themselves. And since there are lots of countries and companies from other countries too in-line, at any manufacturers, like I said, it might take months before the league can settle a vaccine. Once the league was able to secure its own supply of vaccines, it can proceed anytime with its own vaccination program outside of the government's priority list.

That's right, there's likely a shortage because there were reserved orders from different countries. I guess that most of them wanted to get vaccinated but the rolling out takes time to happen for them. The priority isn't on them but I'm sure their management has been doing whatever they can and in all possible actions to give the fans what we want for this upcoming season. They can have a bubble for a mean time while waiting for the vaccination to roll if ever they've already ordered.

That's a good proposal, in fact it's not hard to procure vaccine for them as they are a big and profitable organization, so they can afford to buy the vaccine even at a high price. If they want to guarantee a success of the coming season, they should ensure these players and people surrounding them will get vaccinated.

It's hard for any private organization/company to procure vaccines because there's a massive shortage in the entire world. They can afford to pay but if the supplier and manufacturer doesn't have that much supply anymore because they're just filling the earlier orders and if PBA has already ordered, they might be in the queue but we will not know if they already did.

It takes s0me time before the deliberations and the decision making, plus the reality that supplies might not come from their target time frame, surely manufacturers are busy supplying every sides of the world, they've got sets of priorities, not just because they've got the money to pay they can have it, they needed to wait for their turn.

You know how this kind of stuff work in the Philippines, those who got money will get the priority, that's the sad reality and I think PBA could acquire for all their staff anytime, so for me it's not really a problem. Plus, if you are hearing the news that vaccine are already in the Philippines even before it was announce in the news, that's because some have money to acquire it from different suppliers. This vaccine is not for the public, so it does not need to pass through the government, a private entity like PBA could acquire a vaccine.

I doubt that they will live normally after being vaccinated. My understanding of this vaccine is that when you got infected with COVID, you will only get mild symptoms or you don't have any symptoms at all but still you will get infected and because of that you will still have to follow the health protocols set by the government. IMO, PBA should follow what NBA is doing now. They are successful so i think PBA could do the same.

That's right, they can still be infected and spread the virus, that's why after vaccination they are still required to wear mask when going in public places and follow the same protocol of those who does not receive a vaccine yet, maybe if all people gets vaccinated, there's no need for a mask anymore.

Yes, they need to wait for their turn and that will affect the start of the next season. What's the update on what they're planning to do? Some already have been eyeing to go back for a bubble and I think that they have no choice until the vaccines dedicated for them arrive if they've purchased already.

Yes mate, it's the law of supply and demand. They have the influence to get the vaccine and that's why the private sectors are asking the government to allow them to get the vaccine. But it's a global problem that there's not that much supply and there's a priority for getting one. Who knows if they've already ordered.

That’s how you tell the public so you can still be good, trade is not just letting other teams to flourish a player that only means he’s not performing anymore and you have to look for more players that can be traded against your own player. Anyway, this is basketball after all we saw many trades already and let’s see if Slaughter will really perform this time.
