They are definately more reliable than any US-based Bitcoin mining manufacturer.

The hardware provided is delivered on-time and spec.

Every bitcoin miner manufacturer was fabulous when they first started. All of them. Soon as they all go rich, loads of money in their pocket change into what KNC is now. I can't say it will happen with Spoondoolies, but that's the basic trend and it is very obvious. I "hope" it doesn't happen to Spoondoolies, they seem like a great bunch of people, but so did everyone else when they started up.
Good Luck!

the difference is, Spondoolies had the money before they started selling their SP10 batch 1, what they have done and continue to do for bitcoin mining, is very commendable. Yes, it's a business and so they need to make profit; but when all others fleeced us for pre-orders, Sp-Tech set up VC's and angels to fund our endeavours. that's the difference between a company who says they won't mine more than 5% of what they build and a company who are intent on spreading the network hashrate as widely as possible. It's made my decision whether to keep mining or power down so much easier, if it wasn't for spondoolies, i'd probably just have powered down all my old rigs and never bought another bitcoin miner in my life. For me, they are putting the worth back into the enjoyment of it all.

I'll agree with that, since it sounds just like my story. Even though it is only an SP10, its the first mining hardware I that was ever "in stock" and didn't have to wait 5 months for it without my money. The one thing I have found a little different about companies that you don't need to pre-order from is that they are a little less expensive. Oh, well....its a winding train ride and we'll see what happens.

Of course. There is a review here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=525469.0 and a GB here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=598502.0 with people that already received their units (check the last pages).

It is legit to answer the question.

1 if you are going to spend more the 1k you should read more then the last two pages.
2 if you are going to ask strangers if it is legit and only base your purchase on what say then you might be in for a rough time. I don't mean to be a jerk but I can not believe how many people come here and ask questions that could be answered with a little reading.

OK, it's official. DHL are totally useless.
called them on friday after my new SP10 was held because

"we couldn't find the item value on the paperwork"

after guiding them through their own paperwork on that phone call, i was told

"OK, that's cleared and it will be released - but you may not receive it til tuesday" - it's a bank holiday today in the UK. No problem, said I, I can live with that.

Email received 5 mins ago

Code:
Notification for shipment event group "Clearance delay" for 26 May 14.

Clearance will resume once paperwork is received.
A DHL representative shall attempt to contact the
importer or shipper if required. Customer should
contact DHL Customer Service if not reached by DHL

now I have to wait til 8am when someone can be bothered to answer the telephone,
where I will undoubtedly be put through to the airport (again) to tell them how to read their own waybill.

so.. tuesday just became wednesday.  Undecided

EDIT:

just off the phone - SP10 has cleared customs after all, service adviser blaming 'bank holiday monday' that they systems are not updated properly. box will be sent up to Edinburgh on next van.  Smiley content (for now)

Legit and extremely loud if you are in Canada I'm trying to get rid of mine since I cant tolerate living with this noise. It is louder than my 21 Antminer S1's combined.

I have one hosted since April 10th and I am very happy with SP.
They still need to finish the details of the hosting conditions as they are not posted anywhere but so far they are responsive and they offered compensation for a couple downtimes (one planned and another unplanned) we have had so far.

Thanks for reply. I'm considering hosting my SP 30 units to save electricity using free hosting option. Unless there will be possibility to boost the hashing

If you don´t trust the seller, get Escrow via OgNasty or another person.
Ebay selling fees of ~10% are just ridiculous.

I despise Ebay and Paypal.

Will Spoondoolies ever sell their power supplies by themselves? In case we want to get an extra/backup one? These aren't the kind you can easily grab at the store, that's why I'm asking.

Thanks.

You can get the "upgraded" 1250W version fairly cheap on ebay (used/refurbished).
New they are around 300-400$ so i don´t think you would just buy one to have it sitting around.

Take care though, there is a 5V and a 3.3V (support voltage for management board) version of it, and i don´t know which one it uses (i suggest 5V though).

Also, i don´t think your warranty will hold when you just switch the PSU without a reason.
Server grade PSUs have a lifetime of atleast 5 years, so i don´t think you will manage to get one broken within the lifespan of the sp10.
