I was browsing through my sports TV channels, and then I caught the match on BeIN Sports. It was worth a watch. Cameroon was no match for Senegal. I guess they are the defending champions, not by accident. Meanwhile, Onana's woes continue to follow him, even at internation level. I was happy for Mane. Things just don't seem to work for him every time he tries so hard and the cameras are always on him  

Indeed, Cameroon were no match for the Taranga lions of Senegal but at some point, we'd agree they were determined to still put up a fight. I've seen teams that give up once they are a goal down to a very stronger team but Cameroon refused to let their spirits go down and you would notice they were even more revived when they got the goal.
 As for Onana, he has been beaten at home, away and far beyond. He'd better just go back to Man UTD and continue conceding as he usually does and let the home side manage their second choice.

I have read through the media and the face of the Cameronian defeat is Onana as usual. Just like in Manchester United that he becomes the face of their defeat as well. Sentiments apart, Senegal were more prepared than Cameron and the better thing just won and that is simple. Sometimes I do think if Onana is somewhat depressed at some times because the criticism on him is much and in all things doesn't seem to work his way.

But I love his courage to handle matters. Just that he is gradually becoming less of a goalie and more of a media personality. His greatest strength is that he is yet to fall out of love with Manchester United manager. So, his place is assured in the Manchester United squad.

Indeed, Nigeria game is less impressive but the most important thing is that they can qualify from this group stage I see Nigeria as having a big chance to qualify or even be the winner in Group A because Nigeria's next opponent is Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Bissau is one of the weakest teams in Group A I'm sure Nigeria can win so Nigeria collected 7 points. While Guinea has to compete with Ivory Coast to fight for one more spot one of them will be kicked out or they can continue through a battle for best third place, but somehow I feel like Ivory Coast has a better chance.

By the way if we compare Nigeria and Senegal indeed Senegal looks better, they can win 2 matches including in today's match Senegal beat Cameroon 3-1 meaning they are certain to qualify for the next round with a total of 6 points and no other team can catch them, however this does not mean that Senegal can achieve a better position than Nigeria other things could happen for example Nigeria could win another match through luck. Honestly, at first I also doubted Nigeria but after seeing the second match then I thought of something else.

You made a fair point, I'd give you that. As much as I'd like to see the team succeed, they need to improve their game because the tournament is only going to get tougher after the group stage. Group stages haven't been much of an issue for Nigeria in the Afcon competitions.

Nonetheless we'd have to wait and see how far the team would go in the tournament but I have my fingers crossed that the team will improve fron here and possibly win it one more time. LFG.

Cape Verde vs Mozambique

I was supporting Mozambique in this game but Cape Verde was very strong to defeat. In the first half ND at the beginning of the second half tht Cape Verde used to score all the three goals and at the ending part of the game Mozambique woke up from sleep but it was too late for them to score any goal because Cape Verde was defending the area very strong so the match ended with 3-0 and Cape Verde has the highest point in the tournament right now. They have 6 points. That is a good start.

Cameron which I was thinking that would do well also has 1 point. Well let's see how the knock out stage will lok like. It is now that the tournament is getting interesting. But yet I don't know which the team I will support in the tournament and that should be after the knock out stage.

Nigeria struggled to play a draw in the match, which is not supposed to be like that. Equatorial Guinea wasn’t supposed to give Nigeria a difficult moment in the match, the match should have been an easy win for Nigeria, but I was just disappointed with the opportunities Nigeria wasted in the match. I noticed there was little improvement in Nigeria's performance in their last match, which was against Ivory Coast, but Nigeria should still improve their performance.

I do not know why Nigerians always expect much from their players in every tournament. For the fact that they are the giant of Africa does not mean that everything should go in their favor. The super eagles of Nigeria have played two matches and we are able to get four points out of these two matches, instead of Nigerians to praise them and encourage them to do more you see Nigeria criticizing them all over the internet. Have you forgotten that this is African Nations cup competition? Do you think that it is easy.

In case you guys have forgotten, Nigeria was not able to go to the last world cup but country like Cameroon went and they were able to beat Brazil in that world cup. What is the point of Cameroon in this Nations cup, were they not defeated by Senegal? We should also remember that Ghana has been a strong force in the African competition recently, Ghana has played two matches were there able to win anyone? Seeing the performance of these two countries and other ones should make us to glorify Nigerian super eagles and not to let them down with our unpatriotic talks.

Cape Verde 3-0 Cape Verde

Cape Verde escape the group zone

Cape Verde has qualified for the next stage with six points already, Cape Verde are the first to ensure their spot at the knockout stages, Egypt is at risk because their next match with be against Cape Verde who have secured their ticket to the knockout stages, I don't think the will give Egypt a chance to qualify, Salah is injured now and is their best player, I will only put hope for Ghana to be the second to qualify because they are capable of winning Mozambique because Mozambique conceded more goals.

Cape Verde being the first to qualify from Group B before Egypt and Ghana was unexpected for me because initially, I was given it up for Egypt and Ghana to qualify from Group B, while the remaining two teams "Cape Verde and Mozambique" would not qualify because they can't meet up with the performance of Egypt and Ghana.

It is very shameful that either Egypt or Ghana will find their way out of the AFCON tournament at a group stage after much anticipation that they will make their country proud by going far in the AFCON tournament.

How are they going to explain this, to their country's citizenry and the rest of the world that either of them "Egypt or Ghana" didn't make it out of the group stage?

Having said all that, I foresee Ghana winning Mozambique, making them follow suit of Cape Verde to qualify for the Group B table.

We watched the highlights of this match and it's true, Nigeria seems to be underestimating their opponents so they wasted a lot of chances, Osimhen as a mainstay player also couldn't do much but fortunately Nigeria was able to win the last match so they got 3 points, many people said that it was just luck but whatever the reason it was 3 points. Nigeria has a good chance of going to the next stage only need 1 point or a draw in the last match to ensure a place in the knockout rounds, what do you think about Ivory Coast?  will they be able to qualify like Nigeria? previously Ivory Coast was one of the favorites in group A but unlucky day on their side.

Senegal 2-0 Cameroon
 This game from the beginning was very exciting and entertaining, with Senegal continuously proving why they were the champions the last time at every given point of the game. It's not like Cameroon are not applying pressure but it's sad to note that they are yet to get a shot on target since the game started.
 Right now, the Indomitable lions of Cameroon are being dominated by the Taranga lions of Senegal and the home side is doing it without apologies, leading by two goals, I don't see Cameroon coming back from this.

In this group C only Senegal know were they belong to because the case is cleared, what remain now is to just fight for the best position, like now Senegal and Guinea are playing their next match together and already Senegal have qualified but they will be fighting for the first in the table that is one thing that will make this match look interesting to watch, Senegal already have six points and the will like the end the group stage unbeaten if possible avoid draw to get their 9 points complete, Guinea with 4 are still in danger zone because if they draw it better for them but lose is very dangerous for them, Cameroon are playing against Gambia and this match will look so interesting because Cameroon need to win with many like 4 upward if incase Guinea lose the match against Senegal.

Nigeria have played with Equatorial Guinea who are the team currently topping in the table A standing with 4 points and ahead of Nigeria with goal differences because Nigeria is also have 4 points as they do. When both countries played their first match, they both had draw in the match and 1 point was shared with them.

Secondly, Nigeria played with Ivory coast who are the host country for this year's AFCON and win over the host country with 1 goal which was scored by POAK's player, Ekong through a penalty that was ably conceived by Napoli's player, Osihmhen in the second half. Remember, before this match, Ivory Coast was having 3 point unlike Nigeria and were equally very hopeful of winning the match but reverse was the case.

I feel like we do more of criticizing our national team players than we do more of praising the little efforts and wins they have recorded. Although is not unfounded as it is also as a result of their carelessness to perform when they return home, gradually making the countrymen lose much hope in them and have a little. Now, they must also work very hard to perform better in their next fixturing against Guinea Bissau. While we Also celebrate them for their triumph in their previous match.

The African pattern of football is somehow,the way they love physics football,I don't fancy it,The only team I enjoy watching in this tournament is Egypt,their pattern of play is different  from the rest teams.I watched Nigeria play against Ivory coast,and I wasn't impressed with the way they played,They brought Osimhen to get them goals,but he hasn't been able to score the goals required of him in the tournament.He is currently the African best player,but it seems as if he is just overrated,and might not be able to give any unique contribution till the tournament will be over.

Burkina Faso vs Algeria

So, the game is currently, the game started and we are currently like 10 minutes into it right now, who do you think will come out victorious in this match?

It's my first time watching this both team play. So, it's kind of hard for me to predict who would win, so far, both team seemed well prepared for the match, though Algeria have made some really good attempt at scoring, but all missed.

Burkina Faso on the other hand did their best too, and speaking on their goal, I think they were very lucky with that one, the goal keeper would have easily saved that goal if not that konate was really close and headed the ball straight into the goal post, that is what I call "being at the right place at the very right time", congratulations to them, and I hope they are able to defend this goal and possibly score even more goals on this second half, though I strongly doubt Algeria will let them.

With the quality of the Super Eagles squad, I think their performance against the host should be duly criticized. Yes they had a game plan and they played according to plan and got the desired result but the issue is they didn’t play according to how Superior they’re. They've got the squad and quality players so they should be dominating more.

 These boys are quality and major starters from their various clubs in Europe and playing teams shouldn’t be hard for them though we know this is the AFCON and it has lots of surprises but at least they should play better. AFCON is a tournament that has it’s surprises as we can see teams who were class in the World Cup already fumbling badly here already. Well Kudos for the win but more work needs to be done so that we can get the best result else it’ll be quite crazy for the Super Eagles going forward to the Knockout stages of the competition.

The match between Egypt and Ghana ended in 2:2 draw with Mohammed Kudus scoring a brace for the black stars of Ghana. Ghana really dominated this match but their defense was too porous thereby granting the Egyptians access to equalize the goal each time Ghana scores. This AFCON competition is really getting more tensed and tough as some stronger countries in the competition met each other today. Earlier today, Ivory Coast played against the super eagles of Nigeria and the match ended 0 - 1 in favour of Nigeria.

It was a very tight game. The first goal by Mohammed Kudus goal came out of nowhere and gave Ghana the momentum they needed in the first half. In my opinion, Ghana looked more dangerous in the game than Egypt. Unfortunately for Egypt, Mo Salah was unable to play because of injury. Having Salah on the pitch would have made the difference for the team to win the match. It’s going to be difficult for Egypt to navigate through the tournament without Mo Salah.

It's really gonna be difficult for Egypt without a key star player like Mohammed Salah because we all know the impact he would have created if he was featured in this game against Ghana but regardless I feel Egypt can still sail without Mohammed Salah since they were able to achieve a draw from Ghana that almost won the match but the Egyptians were so determined not to accept defeat and the draw is a welcome achievement for Egypt though it would have been better that Mohammed Salah was featured because his presence most times influences the performance of his Egyptian teammates.

Anyone who have not accepted that this year's AFCON is different from others, is really not following the competition. This match between Algeria and Burkina Faso is a real confirmation that this tournament is different. Who would have imagined that Algeria will struggle to draw Burkina Faso! BFA won the first halve and were winning the match two goals to one until the 5th minutes extra time when Baghdad Bounedjah got an equalizer that. I'm sure that many gamblers were wiped out by this match because they would have given Algeria straight win.

What is even surprising is the fact that Burkina Faso is at the top of the group with four points while Algeria is following them with two points and once powerful Angola is sharing the bottom with Mauritania with one points each. This is indeed an interesting tournament we have this time around.

Burkina Faso are so unlucky not to have collected a maximum 3 points after that early lead against an Algerian side that played so well ,but a point will prove valuable here especially that they sit top of the group while Algeria follow through in second place with 2 points from their two draws of the game...and all they need to do now is not lose their next match and they should qualify for the next round of game's.

I did not watch them play but sincerely speaking I am not just assuming, Africans are now getting much better with their style of playing from the ball being on the ground unlike before when the ball always on the air and going down to their passes which they should work more on, i love their goal scoring very perfect and beautiful.

Unfortunately the goal scoring only happens when the other team scores and then the other team gets motivated  to now get a goal of their own and force a draw....the game at this point still a work in progress!
