GPL: -22%
Difference: +155.1% advantage Bitcoin; and GROWING
btw, i covered my GG and SLW short too soon (even after a 20% gain!). BUT; still own DZZ, ZSL, and the short on AG which are ramping.

Did the number of your subscribers rose lately? no. i wish. my problem is that there are a few guys around here who love to troll the hell out of me which does not help and i'm not one to just hit the ignore button. (which doesn't help either)

I have a Mac. It has been a very nice computer, I have been using it for several years. The problem I am now running into is that some programs are only available for the most recent version of the Mac. (like bitcoin-qt). So I am no longer able to upgrade the programs which I have, and a couple programs I wanted to add to my computer I was unable to add. Overall, my computer still works, but when I do get around to upgrading to a new computer, my next computer will probably be running linux.
Almost any laptop these days run linux so you can buy one and drop windows. Search "Ubuntu <mfg> <model> <#>". Like this: Ubuntu dell inspiron 5720. And you'll get this: http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201202-10403/ You may even manage to get a refund, but the volumes & the $ mfgs receive for preloading adware and crapware tend to cancel out any extra cost. I run Ubuntu/Fedora/Mint/Redhat native on my daily dev 6 core AMD desktop and am stuck running Win on my quad core, 8 thread laptop because I need to use Webex. But this machine can run 4 simultaneous Linux virtual machine instances (to execute simulations of the sort of tightly coupled distributed systems used in telecom networks). [BTW, a virtual machine is a complete OS running inside a window (or full screen) of another OS]. You might consider using virtual machines instead of a different laptop just because its really nice to be able to pop from OS to OS. Run isolated linux virtual machines for your wallet and/or trading software and don't install anything else on them. And its a way to dip your toe into the linux world without having to lug around two laptops. See www.virtualbox.org for the software needed. PM me if you need some purchasing advice. Funny thing just happened: I went to the linked webpage, downloaded the software, tried to run it and got the error message: Usuported OS, this software requires mac 10.6 or later. I guess this is just another item on the lengthening list of software that is not available for my OS anymore. Grumble grumble.

Hey Cypher, Good to see you're still going strong. I think it's been over a year since I logged on but ran into a news story about bitcoin-central and thought I'd take a stroll around the forum. I see you've got your own newsletter too. I've got a few BTC's laying around, maybe I'll sign up for January. Assuming the world doesn't end today of course

they mention Bitcoin in this interview which hasn't yet been posted in the Press section. http://commoditywatch.podbean.com/2012/12/19/ben-dyson-on-positive-money/here's an example of a very bright 27 yo, Ben Dyson, getting the first half of this podcast interview about exactly what is the problem so very right and so very spot on. notice his emphasis on DEBT and speculation and the primacy they both play in the current situation we find ourselves in. and then, in the last half of the interview, having a brain fart and totally screwing up the solution. how many other guys fall into this same category? Nouriel Roubini, Joseph Stiglitz to name a couple. i should probably recant some of my praise of his understanding of the problem as he fails to understand that Deflation is the main problem we face today and that it is in fact deflation that will eventually dominate our current situation as it overwhelms central banks efforts to print. Dyson's solution of creating a public, transparent, accountable financial "body" or overseer to monitor inflation and adjust the money supply to it ignores human nature and the greed that accompanies it. the only solution will come from something like Bitcoin which is a market based solution that empowers the individual vs the state or any other centralized "body" or committee. only with the progress of time, and with a tool like Bitcoin, will the ppl of the world vote with their fiat and feet and move to a dispassionate, workable, and egalitarian solution.

quoted for truth. on a side-note (triggered by you talking about marked-based money (or rather media of exchange at this point (bitcoin))): I learned 2 new words: catallactic and praxeology by reading Peter Surdas (lonelyminer) master thesis on bitcoin which is worth a read in my mind: http://dev.economicsofbitcoin.com/mastersthesis/mastersthesis-surda-2012-11-19b.pdf.

http://soberlook.com/2012/12/the-2012-winner-for-best-performing.htmlThe 2012 winner for the best performing currency against the US dollar
The table below shows the world's top performing currencies against the dollar. Poland, which was somewhat shielded from the Eurozone by its ties with the big neighbor to the east has been the best performer among the mainstream currencies. In fact Poland, together with other EU nations who stayed out... This time I looked at the date News thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133101

Did the number of your subscribers rose lately? no. i wish. my problem is that there are a few guys around here who love to troll the hell out of me which does not help and i'm not one to just hit the ignore button. (which doesn't help either) Try open sourcing things. In that world, people who demonstrate a significant expertise in a particular field are often retained by those who value said expertise. In exchange for money. I'll bet a few of those who 'troll you' incessantly actually have some respect for, and interest in, your insights and find you to be out in front in certain lines of thought...even if they disagree somewhat with your synthesis. Indeed, this thread, which shows little sign of abating or being terminated by TPTB, has proven a pretty decent vehicle for some open-source philosophical work.
