Re: Drivers... True.  You'd think it's just plug-and-play and usually it is.  I think I was just aggrivated moreso by the fact that two of my cards are indeed unstable pieces of crap and are going to RMA-land rather than the drivers themselves being horrid (though I've had much better luck with Nvidia FWIW). 

True - was thinking the same with regards to Kepler.  I mean, I could sell one of the cards now and maybe buy one more 5970 but A. I don't know what the 7990 will do yet.  B. how much it'd cost.  and C. Kepler may very well beat or at least make Nvidia slightly more efficient to do mining with.

It's moot atm as right now I have roughly an equal # of cards to rigs needed (albeit not the proper cooling for every system).  To move more offsite I'd need another rig.  At least I know power and cooling there though is not an issue.  Dissapating 2+ KW just fine so far.

Hi! I havent uploaded any pictures here yet. A while ago i stopped mining because of the noise and heat issues. I had to solve this issue. This is how i solved it

Yes so i bought a box, and isolated it and added ventilation. The Cold air intake is at the bottom, and goes up on the opposite side from the warm air outtake. I have added a  I have another plate over so the the fans sucks the warm air into the little space then out of the box.

So atm the box is outside and i have one rig doing some mining :-)

I will upload more pictures tonight(at work at the moment).

100 of them lined up in a custom case would make a nice base board radiator.

Better cable management is better airflow is better cooling. Ever tried to wire up a whole rack full of servers? You learn real quick about cable management, and once you get into the habit of it it becomes second nature and easy to do.

My IKEA rig. The pic is somewhat outdated, theyr're all mining BTC now with GPUs on risers. Mined LTC when this pic was taken. The wiring is alot cleaner too now :V

Two rigs. Each contains:

- MSI H61-p21 MATX board
- G440 1.6ghz Celeron
- 1gb DDR3
- 4x 5870 on unpowered risers
- Cougar GX-1050 PSU
- USB Flash drive with 11.04 and CGMiner

Assembled in a $20 rack from Target with some leftover aluminum stock, and orbital shaker plates as a top to rest my monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc... on. Each side has a 240v power strip (13amp limit) plugged into a dual outlet 240v 20amp line. The monitor and other items that I need to plug in are attached to a normal power strip and 125v 10 amp line. The 240 line was already run in my garage so I decided to put an outlet on it, use it for the higher efficiency, and the ability to expand. The right rig is down right now, due to some issues. Each rig is / was pulling around 1650ish on a low average with spikes above that. I also will be powering up my main computer with a 6870x2, 6870, and 5870 as soon as I can figure out the issues I am having with the linux boot parameters.

Goals as of now:
1. Get the right rig running again.
2. Figure out the issue with one of the 5870s in my left rig. It refuses to overclock and if I change either of the clocks it freezes the system.
3. Get main desktop running.
4. Split three rigs into four and run one at a source with free power. The split will be (3x (Threex5870s)) and (1x (One 6870x2 + One 6870)) Rigs
5. Optimize power settings and startup scripts.
6. Leave them alone for a long time.

This has been a major undertaking for me and something that has required a lot of constant maintenance. Just getting the two main rigs up has been a major battle. Linux and I don't seem to get along very well and using a relatively slow internet source for updates and files has been a pain in the ass. I'd like to get it all setup to where I won't have to mess with it for a while, monitor it from my phone, and get back to working on my car again.

originally this was a stand alone gaming machine - that I also use for 24/7 mining it is a small part of a 10ghash operation

today I added a BitForce Single to it (no it did not come directly from BFL I purchased this from one of the people who received it on the original 1st shipment)
