The fun part is that Bitcoin is very transparent once you have tied a real word identity to a Bitcoin address. I guess authorities can achieve much by regulating Bitcoin exchanges (i.e., the connection between Bitcoin and the Fiat-World). Tight border controls will do the same for cash. Unfortunately, freedom suffers from all of this.

I was necessarily promoting to buy gold or anything. I was just saying based on the past history, any legit form of currency is backed by gold or silver. When the fiat system collapses, you need some kind of ratio to judge how much something is worth.. I think it will be gold

I think bitcoin is the new benchmark.

You cannot have a commodity basket because they are all manipulated, to my knowledge bitcoin has small manipulation and decreasing volatility.

Despite scammers, looks like the gold certificate scam is far bigger than any crypto scam can imagine to be.

i don't rule out gold but for me crypto will take a nice chunk from precious metals.

it more like gold is past and the future is gold and crypto.

gold certificates is scammy too..if people are to invest in gold they should hold it themselves.

and another problem with holding gold is where do you verify its purity?..cryptos have the internet (network), instantly you know your 1 XMR is legit.

Was reading a small book I was sent with a package I ordered on line a few weeks ago...and an interesting phrase came up:

Quote
Whenever you give up a RIGHT you lose a "FREE CHOICE"! ... Giving up a right may prevent a crime, but it would destroy PRIVACY, which is the hearbeat of FREEDOM.

Monero stands for some basic human rights to privacy. Many people with an agenda may try to make you look like a person who wants PRIVACY is in fact someone who wants to do something BAD/ILLEGAL.

That could not be further from the truth as we all utilize privacy to a certain extent everyday every person on this planet including THE POWERS THAT BE.

Quote: Bitcoin’s Decentralization increases as a full node becomes cheaper.

No. Haha. I have no idea why such a flawed way of thinking exists.

My question is if the cost of maintaining a full node is zero, which are the incentives that drive user to do it? Cost is just part of function.  Tongue

(If cost of a meal is zero, I don't think that I will eat for all day  Tongue)

I still think that unlimited block size limit in Monero is a feature. Let user adoption drive decentralization.

I found the following to contain some considerations on this topic which I hadn't heard before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J52AM5SrOHw

Are you serious? Bitcoin has no volatility as of right now in your opinion? It went from 240 to 500 in less than a month. Gold has its up and downs, but it's kind of hard to manipulate the market with gold as much as Bitcoin. Plus I agree with you that the gold certificates ended up being one huge scam... Though gold doesn't increase in price 100%+ in less than a month either.

How in your mind is price volatility evidence of manipulation? Is it not possible that an asset is simply volatile for no other reason than normal changes in demand or sentiment? (This is not to say that Bitcoin isn't manipulated, but volatility itself doesn't prove it.)

Also, is it not possible that manipulation takes the form of lower volatility?

Will Monero get in touch with Electrum developers, or get the Electrum source code and create a similar lightweight wallet?

It would be nice to see some lightweight clients being done for monero. Preferably similar to Electrum since its already familiar in the bitcoin space.

Can anybody confirm or deny this?

Will Monero get in touch with Ethereum developers, or get the ethereum source code and create a similar lightweight wallet?
....

In due time.  The beta version needs to become a release version, and then libraryization.  Once that happens, I think we'll see a variety of wallets both official and non-official.  We'll probably even see one funded via the Monero forum....
