I guess if BTC rallies hard (probably it will go at least 335) and IF XMR rallies along then those who buy now will be rewarded big for their patience...

I'm curious to know your thoughts on this "neural price prediction" link: http://www.btcpredictions.com/

A shallow feed-forward network trained on inadequate data (both in dimension and in volume) will be right two times each day, so to speak.  Had any luck with it?  If it holds up, he might be doing something more sophisticated.  How can one tell, since there is no cross-validation data, no historical ŷ log, and no code or even technical process claims/descriptions.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.  Give a man a Poisson distribution and he eats at random times independent of one another, at a constant known rate.

Is there any interest from whales for XMR. The volume has been low for some time. XMR is similar to other altcoins in terms of volume now. It used to be the largest in Poloniex.

While you're waiting, have any fans of cryptography seen this creepy video that surfaced earlier this month?

It's filled with intentionally disturbing images and noise, plus lots of encoded messages.  I would initially speculate that perhaps it is another round of Cicada, but unlike those puzzles, many of these messages seem quite threatening.

Any ideas?  https://www.reddit.com/r/creepy/comments/3ongx1/this_creepy_puzzle_arrived_in_our_mail/

I suppose if we want to discuss it further we should take it to an off-topic topic.

Seems like the GUI might possibly be 2017. There's a lot of stuff that's planned before the GUI.

Charity is not a potent way for changing the world. Perhaps going to prison and in the process becoming a global human rights leader could be the next step.
People don't do what you think they should, and you can't make them by force.  But you can bribe them to be good. Subtlety helps.  Wealth is the power to deploy incentives, no more, no less.  Incentivizing behaviours which benefit others, without a direct benefit to one's self, is, IMO, the essence of charitable works.  They can be done well or badly.  Like all things done by humans, the average is pretty poor, but the exceptional cases are quite delightful.

Going to quote myself here again:

Quote
GUI will probably be released after libraryzing is done (devs are currently working on it, see design goals -> https://getmonero.org/design-goals/), without libraryzing it makes no sense to "wire up" the GUI.

The design is already done, see following link for some sneak peaks -> http://imgur.com/a/ERheR

So basically only libraryzing has to be done in order to wire up and release the GUI. The design goals can give you a bit of a skewed view, because a lot of stuff is in front of the GUI on the list. However, most of that stuff doesn't necessarily need to be finished before the GUI can be released.

P.S. More about "libraryzing" -> https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/3ltrxt/its_happening_stepbystep_every_month_since_i/cv9hix0

I think everyone one is monitoring closely what btc is doing. Also I think, altcoin holders will start selling them for btc, to capitalize on raising price of btc.

But interesting thing is, that recently I've noticed that far last few days dash has been having big volume on polo. Something must have generated an interest in dash recently, I guess.

Out of curiosity, a technical question; would it be easy to migrate to the new version with/without GUI? You've mentioned earlier that a beta is already floating around but never got the chance to run it myself successfully (MoneroX GUI client crashed on me). I thought starting it from scratch with a new wallet and transfer the funds there, but I just dropped it since it's now working just fine... Would you recommend a migration or a brand new wallet/database?

The beta works well for me.  Its super fast synching and uses very little ram, as little as 100mb I believe.

Your wallet can probably be directly transferred over (but I never used the GUIs). I think you can just download the new binaries and run bitmonerod until it's synced up, and copy the wallet files to wherever you want to run the new simplewallet from. Syncing on the new version is often nearly as fast as converting the existing chain and usually less headache.

If for some reason your wallet can't be transferred over, you should be able to recreate it from its seed with the new simplewallet.

My working set is presently ~475 MB, but Private is only 42,400 KB (the number that shows up in Task Manager).
