Does this include subsidies?
Does this include the costs of 'accidents', like in Fukushima?

The combine "costs" for the Chernobyl disaster are enough to build 40 new nuclear plants Smiley.
Just the latest shell that needs to be build on top of the current crumbling sarcophagus is worth around 1 billion.

Nuclear power may be the solution but with advances in nuclear fusion .
1542  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Europe running a scam with their new Negative Interest Rate for the EURO? on: June 09, 2014, 07:01:18 PM
The Danish Central Bank had imposed a negative interest rate on deposits two years ago, although they abandoned it only after a few months. I don't know much of the details, but it was a failed experiment.

No it wasn't The move achieved it's target and there was no bank run and no pitchforks in the streets.

Quote
Impact on the foreign exchange market and capital inflows The most direct effect of lowering the deposit rate below zero was the depreciation of exchange rate, which reached the central parity shortly. Hence, the introduction of negative interest rates can be seen as a successful experience in the Danish case, which aimed at restoring the central parity of the EUR/DKK exchange rate. Also, the developments of foreign exchange reserves held by the central bank suggest that capital inflows have stopped from mid-2012 onwards

Full article:

http://www.mindfulmoney.co.uk/wp/shaun-richards/what-has-the-experience-of-denmark-taught-us-about-negative-interest-rates/

And the conclusion:

Summary Overall, the negative deposit rate introduced by Danmarks Nationalbank in July 2012 was successful in limiting capital inflows and helped to push back the exchange rate of the Danish krone toward the central parity. Therefore, the adoption of the negative deposit rate was helpful in reaching the major objectives of its introduction. Moreover, while money market rates and treasury bill yields were already negative before the introduction of the negative DNB rate, after its introduction, these yields fell slightly further and yields on mortgage bonds also stabilised at a very low level. The evidence suggests that the rate cut did not lead to changes in retail interest rates, nor an increase in bank lending. With the normalisation of euro-area financial markets, the DNB could increase the deposit rate from -0.2 percent to -0.1 percent in January 2013 and to +0.05 percent in April 2014.

America won't ban it. That would give in to the Russians. They'll do the same thing they do with everything good. They'll regulate it out of existence.

Then the Russians would invent new methods to make the regulation impossible to achieve. For example, the BTC-E exchange is owned by the Russians and they never ask for any ID documents. They also never cooperate with the American tax authorities. If someone converts his Bitcoins to fiat using BTC-E, the American IRS has no way of knowing it.

But I do wonder why they are not running their operation from mother russia?
If  Russian laws are that bitcoin friendly Smiley

Ownership question is more interesting... Should this thing be confiscated or not? Formally it is the property of the state... However, it seems that state doesn't care about this tube.  Grin

Legally, it still belongs to the Biysk chemical plant, which is owned by the federal government. May be the cops could somehow transport it back to the factory, using cranes and trucks.  Grin

Didn't you just said that the tube is from somewhere else?

"This missile segment probably originated from some of the decommission sites, located upstream in Kazakhstan.  ?

It is a limited liability company (LLC). Rules regarding LLCs are more lax in the United States. The tax rules are also more simpler, when compared to PLLCs and other types of business ventures.

You posted this here just to increase your post count , right?

Edit:
Since you deleted your post Smiley

Remember Mutum Sigillum LLC , also a LLC?

1546  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-06] California Inching Closer Towards Legalizing Bitcoin on: June 09, 2014, 06:11:15 PM
good point.

a step towards imposing a tax, maybe?  Wink

California is inching closer to bankruptcy, as the tax receipts are falling. Right now the state authorities are desperately trying to find new sources of income. The legalization of Bitcoin might be having something to do with this.  Grin

Are you living in 2008 or what?

For two years in the row California Budget had a surpluss of money

Quote
California Governor Jerry Brown proposed a record $106.8 billion budget as state coffers brim with the biggest surplus in more than a decade, setting up a fight with fellow Democrats who want more spending.
1547  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-09] GHash Nears 51% on: June 09, 2014, 06:06:04 PM
Um, does participating in one pool over another provide superior benefits?

Couldn't the Ghash.io folks just chop their pool into two 20% pieces or better yet 10 4% pieces and avoid the wrath of the community?

Could two or more pools secretly collude to achieve 51%?

There is a far simpler solution...
Start a pool with 0% fee and probably a lot of people will switch to it.

And they might have already hidden a lot of their hash power in the "unknown"  20% percentage.

Some of the ICBMs owned by the Soviet army were hastily decommissioned after the disintegration. This missile segment probably originated from some of the decommission sites, located upstream in Kazakhstan.

Did you read the article?

It says there clearly from where the tube is.
1551  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [LOL] 'Ballistic missile' floats into flooded Russian village on: June 09, 2014, 05:45:31 PM
I suppose this stage of the rocket that fell to the ground during the launch of the satellite or something like that. I.e. it's just a large piece of metal. Roll Eyes

From the article:

Quote
A chemical plant in Biysk, the largest city in the area, used to fill them with rocket fuel and after the defense ministry cut its orders in the early 1990s, the plant had plenty of such tanks stored.

The tanks were probably stored on the ground and washed away by the flood

But this one was "stored " a bit differently

Quote
“The Biysk plant uses such rockets, and when they are no longer needed sells them out,” Tatyana Zhdanova, whose family owns the tube, told the website. “Ours got away during the flood. Broke the fence and floated away along with the dogs, who were hiding inside.”
1552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Greececoin (GRCE) - THE IS AIR DROP NOW 1st MAY on: June 09, 2014, 05:43:26 PM
You guys are still carrying on about this?

This coin isnt going anywhere.

Unless I heard wrong, you guys have nothing to do with greece. Are people still believing this stuff here?

I am not from Greece, just want to know if this is going as planed (OP and website) before buying-in. A Country coin have; phase 1 = start/hype/price up  phase 2 = mining/price slowly down phase 3 = airdrop  price fast down  phase 4 = if adoption by citizen  = price very slowly up again. (I think- we see)

1 start country coin -  choose a a country struggling with debt (greece , cyprus spain)
2 pump the hype about how this will change everything
3 fake airdrop to your own adresses
4 dump the coins on the maket
5 start a new coin

So far about 130 businesses have registered and a few dozens have gone through the verification process. We are still working on verifying the other businesses.
This process still needs refining and work and we are also working on assembling a team to deal with it and push it forward.

Wouldn't it be helpful to have the list posted and to periodically update it as new businesses are added?

You don't get it really?
Don't you see that all the latest updates were just walls of text with no names numbers nothing?

Empty promises! Nation coins experiment and hype is over.

I also bought some things from them and their service is good and most importantly they get Bitcoins.
I don't understand it " how they get bitcoins " if they are not accepting it yet.?

Take a look at this guy posts. He posts just one phrase non sense , probably to build up activity.

Have you guys seen why QKR price has risen to 0.05 $?

It's because one guy has bought about 7 QRK for the meager price of $6.56 ...

It's crazy how easy it is to manipulate coinmarketcap....

$47 to push QRK from #10 to #7 ...

The admins of coinmarketcap should fix their algorithm.

With 47$ the guy has increased the market cap of quark by 6 millions.
This and the minimal value of 1 satoshi for coins with hundred of billions of coins issued are the things why you shouldn't take into account coinmarketcap when doing trades.
1557  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: June 08, 2014, 03:51:00 PM
And those restrictions are almost gone.
It took Romania only 20 years to get into the EU and I'm counting here 90-00 when nobody was that keen on expanding the Union.

The anti-immigration sentiments are at all time high, as evident from the recent gains for the far right in countries such as France and the Netherlands. I am not certain about Ukraine gaining the EU membership anytime soon.

Germany is not going to grant Ukrainians citizenship or visas for the next 50 years or so.

I see what you did there Smiley.
1558  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukraine rejects Russia Gazprom gas price hike on: June 08, 2014, 03:48:24 PM
Yeah , the same with the visa / mastercard ban , they will do nothing in reality.

Regarding the Russian national payment system, it is already in the process of being implemented. Co-operation deals are being worked out with various banks in China and Japan as well.

Yeah , and they admitted it will take them four years to build it up.
But , they backed down on their actions against visa mastercard , they will back again from their so called deals with 9 out of unknown customers.

Russia is flexing its muscles the same way the US did it in various cases , and in the end nothing happened.

1559  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: June 08, 2014, 01:28:00 PM
Are you sure about your 50 years?

Yes. Although the native German population is dropping steadily (250k per year?), the immigration rules are quite tough. It might be a bit easier for the current EU nationals to immigrate to Germany. But when Ukraine joins EU, they will find themselves unwelcome in most of the richer EU nations, including Germany. Remember the restrictions placed on migrants from Romania and Bulgaria.

And those restrictions are almost gone.
It took Romania only 20 years to get into the EU and I'm counting here 90-00 when nobody was that keen on expanding the Union.

I'm pretty sure it will take Ukraine less than that to enter the Union. Don't forget there are higher interests to do so than in ro case.
If (unlikely) russia doesn't make a step towards completely annexing Ukraine this will happen within this term.
1560  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukraine rejects Russia Gazprom gas price hike on: June 08, 2014, 01:23:16 PM
Care to explain this then ?

Quote
ST. PETERSBURG, May 23 (RIA Novosti) – Payments under a $400 billion contract signed Wednesday between Russian gas giant Gazprom and China’s CNPC will be made in US dollars, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.

The decision to shift to non-USD currency (in case with China, the Renminbi) was taken just two days ago. That is almost two weeks after the gas export agreement with China was signed.

So the minister signed the deal in USD and then out of the blue a gazprom official comes out and says that 9 out of ten clients will switch from the usd payment ...not even mentioning which.

Yeah , the same with the visa / mastercard ban , they will do nothing in reality.
They do this switch from the usd each year fro the last decade.
With the ruble going lower and lower and with the profits taking a dive , that's not a good move for them and they know it.

As much as I want both Europe and Asia free of this usd deals , no it won't happen.
