1581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Discussions about future of youth players who are chosen for World Cup 2022 on: November 11, 2022, 09:33:16 AM
Choosing limited number of players for each national team is a very difficult task but coaches have to do this, one way or another. They can not satisfy all players as well as all fans but it's important to have best players for a balanced team in the tournament. In addition, if possible it is better to assign on slot for a youth player in order to help him gets real experience in such big tournament.

In the past, Ronaldo Nazario de Lima was chosen for the World Cup 1994 but did not have a single playing minute in that tournament. Two later World Cup, 1998 and 2002, he was a key player for Brazil especially World Cup 2002 in which Brazil are the winner with a outstanding performance from Ronado.

We also have another case from Roberto Baggio in World Cup 1990. In that tournament, he played mainly as a substitute player but did more than Ronaldo by scoring two goals in that World Cup. 4 years later, he brought Italy to the final in World Cup 1994 but failed at the end.

Kaka in World Cup 2002 at his 20 years-old with only 25 playing minutes in the match with Costa Rica.

Some points from these cases
  • It gives these players a great opportunity to experience the air of World Cup; how players have to train and prepare for big tournaments; what are huge pressure from fans, social media, coach and themselves; lot of things
  • It is helpful and non-buyable experience for youth players
  • It helps their career a lot

I don't remember all cases and above are classic cases. Please leave a commenting post and let me know about other past cases.  Smiley

Now it is time to discuss about cases for World Cup 2022 in Quatar.

I would go first to share the case of Moukoko in Germany. He has a debut for Dortmund in December 2020 and he just was chosen for the Germany World Cup 2022 squad. He is too young for this tournament and I believe that Hansi Flick gives that youth player a chance like Ronaldo and Baggio.

What do you think about Moukoko and this decision of Hansi Flick?

Let share other cases in this tournament if you know them.  Smiley

1582  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can someone teach me where have High Return Invest Program on: November 11, 2022, 09:14:15 AM
Basically but very importantly, what does high return mean ?

You should read the whole article but I quoted one important point about APY here
Quote
High APYs Don’t Necessarily Mean Healthy Projects

It’s now obvious that the whole thing was built on a self-perpetuating, shallow concept. While Terra did have an ecosystem with some use cases, the speed of growth of the ecosystem did not match the speed of the incentives used to attract new users. The growth was “hollow”. Eventually, the bubble burst, and here we are.

Key lesson: don’t just chase high APY. Look at fundamentals.

1584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Borrowing against your coins a bad or good practice? on: November 11, 2022, 03:46:35 AM
is it a good idea to borrow against your crypto assets? Is there anyone practising this right now?
I did not get your question too clearly. What did you imply by "borrow against your crypto assets?"

Assume what you want to do are as follows
  • Use your Bitcoin as a collateral to make a loan for your margin trading
  • Then you use what you borrow to short Bitcoin
  • What do you feel if Bitcoin soars and your Funding account has a good increase in value but your Margin account is in loss (Red) and even faces with forced liquidation because you opened a Short position ?

Quote
What are the risks involved in doing this? Is Defi borrow and lending the best way to go because I know some are centralised.
Lot of risks
  • You put your initial capital as a collateral on a centralized platform
  • Risk of unable to withdraw your initial capital if the platform goes to bankruptcy.
  • Risk of forced liquidation as explaining above
1585  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum - Statistics 2012 vs 2022 on: November 11, 2022, 03:37:22 AM
I used to know this fact but forgot it: when did signature campaigns really kick off here?  For some reason I thought it was before 2012 (I recall reading the first thread in which signature space was offered up for advertising), but if that's true then the membership count given in the OP seems really low.
Perhaps you recalled about these topics:

Quote
I'd be really interested in seeing a graph of time vs. member count with the start of sig campaigns marked on it.  Probably membership exploded, but I'm not certain about that.
The explosion of members in this forum is a consequence of so many factors: from Bitcoin adoption, Bitcoin usability to income from posting in the forum. If Bitcoin hadn't have real use cases and good usability, it would have not been adopted well and people would have not mind about income in Bitcoin by posting.

The decreases of new and active members (then total posts, total topics created monthly) should be a combined effect of bear market, merit system launch, less active (or good) bounties or stricter management and requirements from bounty managers.[/list]

Loan repayment was sent. Please confirm it then I will lock this thread.

Thank you.

If anyone want to have more information, check Controlled supply and How is the 21 Million Bitcoin Cap Defined and Enforced?

People say this in every cycle and they even named it "downward spiral" at some point claiming that because the reward was cut half from 50 to 25 then bitcoin must die because miners no longer make any profit. Today the reward is 6.25 and miners are still making a lot of profit and the hashrate is unbelievably high compared to when they were making 8 times more bitcoins for each block.
The question was answered by satoshi years ago. satoshi predicted that there are two possible scenarios for Bitcoin and it seems we have a positive one because the Bitcoin network has become bigger (in total hashrate) and more decentralized (after the Great Hash Migration from China) as well as it has gotten more adoption (more use cases and higher trading volume).

Right.  Otherwise we couldn't have a finite limit of 21 million coins, because there would always need to be some minimum reward for generating.  In a few decades when the reward gets too small, the transaction fee will become the main compensation for nodes.  I'm sure that in 20 years there will either be very large transaction volume or no volume.
1588  Other / Meta / Re: Could This Help To Reduce Spam? on: November 09, 2022, 02:08:19 AM
Why do you specifically refer "spam" to a mega thread?
Do you think every person who posts on the mega threads is a spammer?

As far as I understand, spam is everywhere, it is not specifically located in mega threads only.
Please don't mislead people to judge "spam" is always related to mega threads.
There are good and bad posts in any good or bad topic.

The biggest problem with Mega thread is there are abundant posts in it and a lot of new posts will be published after one or few hours. It makes it hard to follow discussion as well as to filter posts and find good ones.

People can make continuation threads if they want.
Also people spam easily in smaller threads too.
It is true. It is easy to create new threads after locking past mega threads and spam will be continued. Spam in new and smaller threads are not better in quality than spam in Mega threads.

If people can make repeated topics to hunt merit, it is not a minor issue for them to create new threads to get post quota whilst post quality would be the same (low).

You can extrapolate it to ChipMixer campaign. In gambling, most of posters are spammers but there are a few posters chosen to join ChipMixer gang. Their posts have good opinion and quality so that DarkStar_ have reasons to pick them.

Generally, it depends on managers to set up rules for their campaigns and criteria to count eligible posts and it is a complex combination of many factors

it also reminds me of Ethereum Classic. ethereum developers create new tokens for reasons of stronger security.
Ethereum and Ethereum Classic are not tokens. They are native currencies of Ethereum network and Ethereum Classic network.

altcoins are not very suitable for investment, especially long term, we will find a lot of drama going on there and it has happened over and over again in many projects.
Most of them are not good for investment because many of them will die in one bear market and mostly don't have their lifespan more than 4 year or a full market cycle.

If you say about Ethereum, BNB, Litecoin and Dogecoin, they are good to invest in but you should choose a good entry to join.

Bitcoin has never been changed or modified since it first appeared and that is what makes bitcoin so unique and special.
Are you sure about it?

If no upgrade, how do we have Bitcoin Segwit, Taproot (another type of Segwit) ?

Many risks when you store your coins or tokens directly on a centralized exchange

1592  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges charging for inactive accounts . Do you support this ? on: November 08, 2022, 11:26:11 AM
There is a new practice among crypto exchanges to charge its users if they are inactive on the exchange.
They even can write in their ToS that they have full rights to close your account and seize money in it. If I recalled correctly, in the past Poloniex had that point in their ToS.

Disagree or not, if you did not read their ToS or search in FAQs, it means you agree with their terms which will be applied on your account.

29. UNCLAIMED PROPERTY

If Poloniex is unable to return your Tokens to a third party Account for you after a period of inactivity, Poloniex may report and remit the Tokens to an applicable government agency pursuant to applicable escheatment or unclaimed property laws.

1594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 06, 2022, 11:41:38 AM
Manchester City are now 1 point ahead of Arsenal. And so Arsenal must beat Chelsea if they want to regain the top spot in the points table. Chelsea's performance this season is not good. They have drawn two and lost one in their last three matches. Arsenal on the other hand are in their best form. More importantly, Arsenal are in good form and Chelsea's players are not playing well.
Manchester City played first and won so they created huge pressure on Arsenal today. Chelsea is not easy to beat and with this huge pressure, Arsenal will have a doubling challenge in the match. It's repeatedly discussed about Arsenal's improvement in their performance and mentality. If they can pass through this pressure and win against Chelsea, they should be recognized as a very strong team in this season and should be considered as one of the best candidates for Premier League trophy, together with Manchester City.

The presence of Aubameyang has not been able to increase Chelsea's attack power, Aubameyang, who was brought in from Barcelona, has not been able to show his best performance. So far Aubameyang has only scored three goals in 11 appearances. From the line up between the two teams, Chelsea and Arsenal both lowered their best squad.
It is in theory only. In reality Aubameyang did not create too big effect in Chelsea. I have to say Aubameyang time is coming to the end just like other players in his generation. The surprising revival of his career in Barcelona is like one of his last bright shows before his retirement.

Though his performance is not too good after returning to Premier League, this clash is an emotional one for him and Arsenal fans. This is the first time he plays against Arsenal in a jersey of another Premier League club.

This is very informative thread and deserves a small bump to stay on the front page.
I much appreciate your support. It's kinda recognition for my effort put into this topic Wink

I always say, it is better to revive old threads than to create new ones on the same topic.
Actually, people can create new topics about same issues but ONLY IF
  • Past topics were locked, inactive and can not be updated as OP left the forum, dead, permanently banned etc.
  • That member actually believe his / her new topic is better than old and available one.

Honestly, mostly we witness the first IF but we don't witness the second IF. Similarly in scientific research, if a researcher can not make a new research to answer and solve an issue better than other researchers with published researches, don't try to make a new one.

In addition, to know that there are available topics about one issue, let's use [Guide] Searching effectively
1596  Other / Meta / Re: Cryptocurrency Casinos Are Ruling The Signature Campaign Here In Bitcointalk on: November 06, 2022, 11:25:47 AM
mixer, all the other signature campaigns are Crypto casino based, some are still for many years this is big proof that the Crypto casino industry is booming and the ICOs days are over
There are still active ICOs nowadays but they are less common but not over yet. Additionally, we have derivatives or upgrades from ICOs, IEOs, IDOs, etc. and we will see more terms in future. Scammers are good to upgrade their terms and create new trends.

About gambling, you can explain it with possible factors
  • Cryptocurrencies are used popularly in online gambling because they are fast, transparent, verifiable (Provably fair) and cheap for tiny transactions that are matched with tiny bet value.
  • Gambling casinos get profit from their operations so that they can keep both their companies actively and their signature campaigns running a long time.

Quote
seven years ago all the signatures you see here are all Cryptocurrency projects.
Sounds impressive but please, where did you get that information?

Quote
Will Bitcointalk become known as a gambling forum?
No, it was created as a Bitcointalk (Talk about Bitcoin) forum and will be like this in future. Gambling is only one of boards in the forum, just like Altcoins board.

Quote
Will the days of the altcoins signature campaign return in the future?
They are still existing but mostly in Bounties board. Very less altcoin projects run their advertisements in signature campaigns which are paid in BTC

Lastly, I disagree with you. Gambling casinos are not ruling in the forum. They are majority of active signature campaigns but have to obey forum rules and can not set up new rules.

Topic title should be changed!

Bitcointalk's important historic changes

Above is my topic, and why not consider to report important changes of the forum there. It's obviously not an official thread from the forum for collective records about it. 1598  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I’m having problem withdrawing my bitcoin can someone help me out on: November 06, 2022, 02:54:14 AM
It keeps on saying transaction failed or pending
We only can make our guess here that your issue is related to your withdrawal request from a centralized exchange.

However, I'd like to ask you for confirmation that whether it's actually your withdrawal request from a centralized exchange - if it is your case, nobody here can help you and only that exchange can help you via your support ticket. Or if it is not like that, it should be your transaction broadcast from your non-custodial wallet - if it is this case, people here can help you.

Even for a centralized Exchange/Wallet, consistent withdrawal problems like that are rare.

In case it's a scam site (since there's not enough info):
If you decided to contact their support like suggested above,
but support ask you to deposit some bitcoins before you can withdraw your coins, don't send them any.
Good warning!

It is what I tried to share and warned people years ago too
1599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: November 06, 2022, 02:37:04 AM
We have seen Barcelona vs Almería full time game between these two teams. And between these two teams Barcelona played a very good game. Almería did not score any goal in the whole match. But in this match Barcelona scored the first goal in 48 minutes. And the next goal was again scored by Barcelona.  62 minutes. Barcelona scored 2 goals in the whole game and they won the match by 2 goals.
Barcelona controlled the whole match and destroyed Almeria. Pique has a perfect farewell match and cule gave him good recognition as well as a lot applause for him. Pique did a great decision to let Lewandowski shot the penalty. Even Lewandowski wasted it by mimicking the style of Bruno and Jorginho, Pique did try to give Lewandowski a chance to improve his total goals and get more chance to win the Pinicchi title.

The match shows that cule actually loves Pique and it is what he is deserved to have after all of his career and contribution for Barcelona. Their fans just reacted emotionally recent weeks against Pique and Busquet. Now, only Busquet is left from their golden team with tiki-taka formation.

It was a total domination by Barcelona against Almeria just as everyone expected. Almeria must have been even thankful for Barcelona not to score so many goals. It could have ended up with a really embarrassing score for them instead of only 2-0. Lewandowski was scoring goals for three games in the La Liga but he couldn't this time. He missed a penalty and wasted the biggest chance to score.
Barcelona had a great match but Lewandowski did not. They will have to play one more match before the halt for World Cup 2022. With this big tournament in the air, it is hard to see highest performance from star players like Lewandowski because they have to carefully play and avoid injuries.

Quote
Now they are waiting for Real Madrid to play their game against Vallecano. Barcelona will hope for them to lose points again in an easy game. But I don't think it will happen this time.
If Barcelona win La Liga, will Pique has a champions badge? I don't know about rules of La Liga for it but I guess Pique will be eligible for that badge if Barcelona becomes a champions at the end of this season.

The most surprising thing from Barcelona with me, is their defense in this season. After 13 matches, they only have 4 conceded goals that is an unbelievable stats for their defense which used to be considered as weak.

  • Circulating supply:
    • Infinite supply:
Some coins don’t have a caped supply at all and there will be issued more coins constantly.
For such coins, we need to look up properly how many of them will be in circulation at some point of time because such coins are at risk of MASSIVE INFLATION.
Altcoins have many risks and one of them is minting from thin air. Their developer teams can mint new flow of token if they want to use the Mint function. They can mint it to resolve the case of hacks, blockchain compromises or to benefit themselves and make investors poorer.

The risk is we don't know what they will do with that Mint function. If anyone has yet known about the risk, do a research about Terra $LUNA that is rebranded to Terra Classic $LUNC.
