2401  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT] heliuminers.com is a Scam site. The real site is helium.com on: August 07, 2021, 12:10:39 PM
Heliuminers.com has never claimed to be any other site,
Oh really?! Care to explain why on earth it listed the "official social media" accounts of Helium, under its contacts [specifically where it has also listed its fake email address]?

but what he has not been able to post is EVIDENCE THAT HE HAS BEEN SCAMMED ON THIS SITE ....OR....KNOWS SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN SCAMMED ON THIS SITE.
It's perfectly normal to warn others before an obvious scam takes place!
2402  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2021-07-28]Binance CEO says he’s willing to step down as world's biggest crypt on: August 07, 2021, 09:52:50 AM
This statement from CZ should be taken as a warning to all Binance users. Expect more restrictions, more KYC requirements, more privacy invasion.
At this rate, I'm not sure if there'll be a Binance exchange by 2022 [I hope I'm wrong].
- By the look of things, they're falling apart and only have themselves to blame!

On a slightly related matter, Brian Brooks [CEO of Binance.US] has resigned:

2403  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I have Paypal to trade for Bitcoin on: August 07, 2021, 08:13:33 AM
Regardless to how my profile here may appear, I am not a ripper, I had a dealing with a real ripper, and I alerted people here of him, so he put a negative on my profile.
In case you didn't know, you're not the only one that could read the "feedback" in question and there's also a "reference thread" linked to it... In other words, that negative rating has nothing to do with "this" warning of yours and you're nothing but a worthless scammer!

I have Paypal funds and need BTC, lets trade.

we will work something out so either party is safe.

2404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine's roadmap of crypto adoption on: August 07, 2021, 06:20:12 AM
In short, they plan to have 5% tax on crypto profits, though the number is not set in stone yet and could change. Currently people must pay 19.5% tax on sale regardless of profit or loss.
Not sure if I'm interpreting "this" part correctly, but does the new proposal essentially mean they'd be able to finally deduct their losses?

Exchanges and other services would need to get a license, but the licensing process should be simple.
Looks like a "work permit" would suffice.
2405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Former Monero Maintainer ‘Fluffypony’ Arrested and to Be Extradited on: August 06, 2021, 04:59:10 PM
Spagni, known online as “Fluffypony,” is accused of stealing approximately $100,000 from his former employer, Cape Cookies, by generating false invoices from fictional entities and routing payment to his personal bank accounts between 2009-2011.
If that turns out to be the case, then he's a di*k Angry

Doesn't he have a legal representative to arrange everything and make sure he's aware of the trial dates?
He does and apparently, there was a misunderstanding [he thought he was excused] and his attorney represented him on that day: Point "#6 and #7".

I think this thread belongs to the "Reputation" board instead.
2406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best Hard Drive for Bitcoin Node? on: August 06, 2021, 02:50:59 PM
Please tell me one solid affordable HDD that has more than two year warranty and I may consider it.
I can get very good Samsung SSD with five year warranty easy.
Here you go:

  • Seagate IronWolf Pro 4TB = $146.99
    - 5-year warranty + 3-year data recovery.
  • Western Digital Red Pro NAS Hard Drive 4TB= $174.99
    - 5-year "limited warranty".

Note: I haven't used any of the above HDDs but like what @ETFbitcoin mentioned, NAS HDDs are meant to work 24/7 and IIRC, you just have to reformat it then you're good to go.
2407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Xiomi Portugal start accepting crypto on: August 06, 2021, 10:48:13 AM
what are you thoughts ?
However, this decision does not sufficiently affect the interest of investors, because it seems that this is a decision made by Xiaomi from Portugal only and not globally.
I have a feeling this might be one of those testing phases and if everything goes smoothly, they'd probably expand it into other markets as well.
- Having said that, @CoinTelegraph included a tweet from their partner [Utrust], but for some reason, that tweet no longer exists [a bit strange].

Does this mean that they'll keep bitcoin or will actually receive fiat at the end of the day?
According to their partner's "website", looks like [screenshot] everything is going to be converted right away but they could also opt to receive cryptocurrencies.
2408  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Specter Mining, Inc. August Mining Equipment Pricelist on: August 06, 2021, 08:30:48 AM
Since you just recently created your website [creation Date: 2021-06-08], I'm curious to know how you were able to strike a deal and become a partner with all of the known ASIC providers you've "listed" on your website?
- While you're at it, kindly include a piece of evidence to show you're indeed one of their partners [I tried my best, but had no luck].

2409  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger App Catalog and Developer Portal on: August 06, 2021, 05:31:29 AM
When it comes to "hidden fees", if the app shows you exactly how much you get, I don't think it's a hidden fee.
I am not sure if those are the hidden fees that one user mentioned on reddit. You will lose plenty of money exchanging through LL, but if they show you the correct sum and you agree to it, I don't consider that to be a hidden fee.

https://i.imgur.com/tdMfJvel.png
You're right, but I wasn't sure what would be the appropriate term for such a thing.
- Perhaps, I should've said "ridiculous" fees instead.

I was interested in checking the rates you get from ParaSwap through Ledger Live and the ones shown when you visit the official app at https://paraswap.io/. The reddit link above was true regarding the rates on LL being worse.
Thank you for checking that part of LL. I was considering purchasing a Nano S for that feature + a couple of the upcoming ones [not to make the switch] but thanks to you, I don't think I should do it for now.
- Having said that, I have no doubt it's a great hardware wallet.

At the moment when I took the screenshot, the official website showed that for 1 ETH you would get 2798 USDT.
Ledger Live had an exchange rate of 1 ETH = 2771 USDT.
That's a difference of $27 and a nice earner for Ledger Undecided
I think that's worse than the reported fee differences on the above Reddit link Shocked
2410  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Hardware wallets on: August 05, 2021, 07:09:30 PM
Question regarding with this pala allowed ba na magkaroon ng multiple address sa hardware wallet mo at multiple coins ?. Sorry medyo nangangapa pako sa hardware wallet eh.

Like sa trezor mo is
Merong two address for BTC and meron kang multiple coin sa trezor is BTC at LTC pwede mo hold ?. Like parang exchange wallet sya or just a single coin lang pwede hold?.
Yes, pwedeng dalawa or mahigit pa dun ang mga addresses para sa bawat cryptocurrency at pwede mo rin gamitin simultaneously ang Trezor wallet para sa iba pang cryptocurrencies Smiley
2411  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger App Catalog and Developer Portal on: August 05, 2021, 04:34:59 PM
  • ParaSwap – A DEX for exchanging Ethereum-based tokens.
Have you personally tried using this feature that came out roughly 2 months ago?
- A few users were complaining on both Reddit and Youtube about bugs.

In addition to that, it looks like there are "hidden fees" in place for using that feature through ledger live.
2412  Other / Meta / Re: How can I contact a moderator or admin of BitcoinTalk.org on: August 05, 2021, 01:46:40 PM
It was less with 2$ BTC since I mistook the 3 for the 8.
So you only paid 0.0006350BTC, as opposed to 0.00068350BTC?

The trouble is, the fees are high since i don't have BTC, i do have BNB!
Small correction: "Fees" are actually way too low at the moment, but I think you're using one of those custodial wallets [or exchanges] that "always" overestimates fees.

BNB is not an option but you can also pay with grin [not sure if your other payment would reflect automatically since it's on another network]:

You can also pay via grin.
2413  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-02] China's Digital Yuan vs Bitcoin on: August 05, 2021, 06:57:22 AM
Interesting article but it failed to mention with Digital Yuan, there's a limit in regards to how much you could have in your wallet [back in June, that was one of its main objectives (not sure if that has changed)].

also known as the e-RMB or the Digital Currency, Electronic Payment (DCEP).
I'm curious to know why would they give two names to Digital Yuan?
- When I googled "DCEP", it didn't appear to be a general term.
2414  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Hardware wallets on: August 05, 2021, 05:21:45 AM
Ayoko din kasi bumili sa mga online store like shoppee and lazada masyadong risky
Check mo sa Trezor website ung mga official re-sellers nila dito sa Pilipinas. If I remember correctly, merong 2
May isa pang official reseller [bali tatlo sila] sa Trezor pero lahat sila nagbebenta sa mga online stores:

  • Crypto King PH [Shopee seller]
    - Official reseller ng Trezor at Ledger.
  • Isawwwshop [lazada seller]
    - Official reseller ng Trezor at Ledger.
  • JT Photo World [Facebook seller]
    - Official reseller ng Trezor at may address din sila, so pwede mo siguro puntahan para icheck yung hardware wallet bago ka mag purchase.

2415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What hatred do people have for Bitcoin? on: August 04, 2021, 06:14:41 PM
Based on how David described it, most likely he was one of those newcomers that tried using BTCitcoin for the wrong reason [an investment asset] and that has probably led to a disaster.
- It's quite obvious something is wrong with them when all they see, is its volatile nature [BTCitcoin brings more than that to the table].
2416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin videos on Youtube....and a suggestion for our possible BCT channel. on: August 04, 2021, 02:37:50 PM
It’s almost as if there’s a formula these Youtubers follow, from the thumbnail to the intro music, and even to the content of the videos themselves.
~Snipped~
So here’s my second point: if bitcointalk decides to create a Youtube channel, I’m really hoping whoever’s in charge doesn’t decide to go the cookie-cutter route like all of the above jokers did.
I totally agree with your point but something like this is bound to happen at some point [both intentionally and unintentionally].
- Personally, I don't think it'll be a big deal if it "only" happens from time to time.

I also hope the goal of the forum's channel isn't primarily to monetize its videos,
Based on the following requirements [especially #3], I think it's safe to safe that's not going to be a problem in the beginning, but seeing that @Cyrus has already hired a company, then we should all expect that to happen at some point.

3. Have more than 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months.
4. Have more than 1,000 subscribers.

Long Term (Varies as per service)
7 days     $10 - $20
15 days   $15  - $30
30 days   $20  - $40
I'm curious to know why temporary numbers come with a fixed price [regardless of the service], as opposed to long-term ones?
- AFAICR, you're the first provider to have such a system in place.

and the number is currently not busy on our network.
So does that mean when purchasing a single number for a particular service, we're not going to be the only one that uses that same number for that particular service?
2419  Other / Meta / Re: Viable Projects? on: August 04, 2021, 06:31:36 AM
Has it lost its purpose for new projects? New posts announcements don't even go to the first page. They are pushed to the second page the second you post them where no one can see them.
In addition to @nutildah's post, refer to the following thread to get the whole picture: Bumping changes on some boards

The rules state no auto replies or paid replies for ANN threads and bounties yet there are tons in the token announcement area.
Have you tried reporting them?

Looking at projects on the first page you can clearly see bought and paid for replies. Are moderators being paid off to overlook these?
Nope, and they're also not robots! It's not fair to expect they'd be able to moderate every single post out there, there's only so much they could do.
2420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin survey suggestions needed.. on: August 03, 2021, 04:30:56 PM
I was going to conduct Bitcoin survey in my area to know how much people know about the financial revolution "Bitcoin" and how many are aware about it's usage and its functionalty at first phase and make them aware about it if they don't know about it.
one of the purpose of this survey is to know still people believe in such bullshit and living away from reality and will guide them towards reality of bitcoin.
The only way you'd be able to properly achieve the bolded parts is with the use of a dynamic [automated] survey, as opposed to a survey that comes with a single set of questions.
- In addition to those, you have to find a way "within the survey" to provide appropriate sources for your respondents [easier said than done].

This is first phase of survey only and i want to include basic questions only
