2421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Windows Wallet vs Myetherwallet on: November 01, 2017, 04:20:01 PM
Noobie question, but why do some altcoins use their own windows/mac wallet compared to a web wallet such as MEW?

You mean as in hosting their altcoin on MEW? If that's even possible, it would probably give them a shite load of restrictions, plus it is much less safe then compiling your own wallet.

Web wallets could get ddosed, sometimes steal your private keys, etc.
2422  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Games ? on: October 30, 2017, 06:49:40 PM
Hi all,

Do you know some games where you can really earn some coins ?

Some links will be useful  Smiley

Yes. There is an entire board dedicated to this, check out https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=212.0 "Micro Earnings", where you can complete small tasks/do games/watch ads for a small amount of bitcoin.

Don't expect too much of it, but depending on what kind of person you are, and where you're from, it could give some income.
2423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investing without Programming Skills on: October 30, 2017, 05:25:16 PM
I'm afraid to invest cause I don't have any programming background. Some say that I need it, some just advise to try and figure out if it's crucial.

So, I decided to try to invest. Maybe some of you know platform/project which requires no programming skills or at least has super simple interface and other stuff?
Almost every exchange has a super-friendly interface.

I would recommend using coinbase for your first few purchases / investments, follow their basic guides, and you'll understand how it works in no-time. Seriously.
2424  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Besides the forum what other resources are there to find out about airdrops? on: October 29, 2017, 10:20:29 AM
I would like to find out about airdrops as soon as they're announced.  What are the best resources to do so?

As others have mentioned, airdropalert.com is pretty good. Besides that i also like to use http://coinmarketcal.com/, it is community driven and not only has airdrops, but also alot more big events for alot of different currencies.
2425  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sell bitcoin on: October 28, 2017, 09:32:10 PM
Hi . I am newbie but i was lucky enough to win a good amount of Bitcoin in gambling website . And i. Afraid to get scammed when i try to sell it . Is there is any safe way to sell my bitcoin !?
Thanks

Yes.

Don't do a peer 2 peer transaction, but instead use a regulated exchange like coinbase, or Bitfinex, depending on which country you are from.

Or deal with a trusted user on this forum, but honestly that's not worth the hassle compared to how easy it is to sell your bitcoin on an exchange.

Congratulations Smiley There are many ways to do it. Starting from the exchange and ending exchanges. For Example LocalBitcoins, Bittrex, Bitfinex, Bitstamp.

Ehrm, Localbitcoins is essentially P2P, you deal directly with someone else, who sometimes can still chargeback and run.
Also you can't sell any bitcoins for cash/Paypal/bank balance on  Bittrex. I'm wondering where you got that assumption from  Huh
2426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SmatrContract error on: October 28, 2017, 09:22:35 PM
Sorry, we were unnable to retrieve a valid ContractABI for this contract. Unable to read contract information, and i cannot send multiple transaction to all airdroper. https://etherscan.io/token/0x79032178E9E9A7da2E5a073884a0A7A40554fa94#readContract

This is not the right place to ask about i think, but i don't really see a more fitting section.

Anyway, you're giving almost zero information either. I really can't help you this way.

Are you trying to verify it? Something with your contract is obviously wrong, or not constructed at all.

See https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/10431/having-trouble-verifying-a-contract-on-etherscan-io, Check

Quote
I was able to verify the contract on Etherscan by checking the "Input Data" of the transaction that created the contract. It includes the contract bytecode and the constructor argument bytecode right after. So you can copy the constructor argument bytecode into the "Constructor Arguments ABI-encoded" field to be able to verify the contract. Thanks for that 3rd bullet point!

Quote

Had pasted contracts in wrong order
    Removed import references
Pasted constructor argument bytecode from end of deployed TX

Edit;

Did you make the contract? If the creator didn't verify it, that's how it will show up in etherscan.

Quote
The contract source code was not verified by the contract creators. We have no control over that part

2427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I speed up unconfirmed incoming transaction? on: October 28, 2017, 08:27:22 PM
Still nothing...And Ive tried viabtc for like 50 times last hour and now but only get "maximun su...." ....

Can anybody tell me why this is taking so long time to confirm? Can I do anything?

It is taking so long because there is a mass amount of transactions in the mempool, driving the fee price up, see https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-size.

You could try to do a RBF - Replace-By-Fee, if you're using a hardware wallet like electrum, or a CPFP - Child-Pays-For-Parent transaction,

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4odi90/can_someone_explain_cpfp_child_pays_for_parent/

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/10733/what-is-replace-by-fee

If you don't exactly know what these terms are, simply google then and you'll receive a better tutorial of how to do it then i could ever describe.
2428  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trying to figure out if bitpetite is real on: October 28, 2017, 08:16:09 PM
Hmm yah, I'm giving it a try and documenting my experience for others, I still have another 8 weeks.

Just telling that with those rates, the entire "Crypto Mixing" story is total bullshit. There isn't a single mixer which will get 1% fees over their total bankroll in  a single day.

Looks like it's an obvious ponzi, but then again, according to previous poster, it seems to have been running for a year.

You're currently only 1 week in right? You bought the 9 week contract?
2429  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: exchanges that allow me to fund since bitfinex is ending for usa on: October 28, 2017, 04:54:01 PM
i have funds in bitfinex that i fund others with and it has been steadily increaseing. bitfinex is ending its usa customers so i am looking for another exchange. signed on to gdax and it looks as tho they do not have a place to fund
GDAX is part of coinbase, so you should buy your coins there.

Check Kraken, Bitstamp, C-CEX, Or maybe GEMINI to buy bitcoins, and see if they allow you to. They might have less competetive rates then bitfinex, but they work just fine.
2430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: finding old bitcoins on: October 28, 2017, 03:47:55 PM
Hi all,

im really starting out fresh again with bitcoin.

I bought some bitcoins years ago i think about £30 just for the fun of it, from a bitcoin exchange not sure with which one Embarrassed
i have the persons name and bank details on my online banking transactions list and i will speak to the bank to check the amount i bought.
with all this news hype that i could be sat on a fortune i wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction to help me find them or if they're gone for good.
i think i my have done it on my old laptop that i still have. i dont remember having a wallet, that i think you need now. would they still be in my bitcoin exchange account if i didnt transfer them anywhere even though i dont know what exchange i used? Undecided

Probably, yes. Do you still have your original email? You should check if you have any confirmations of your email on the exchange?

Do you know exactly how many years ago you bought them? 2013ish would've probably been MtGox, which, if it was, you won't be able to recover, as they're gone.

See https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/ for popular exchanges.

Coinbase, Kraken, are all exchanges that have been in the business for pretty long.
2431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Problems cannot find a bitcoin wallet that works on: October 28, 2017, 02:56:31 PM
and the washing of hands of people, when they refer me to a list of bitcoin wallets,
intent is that i can then chose which poison to try and download myself,
and their conscience is then clean...
If this is how you think about people on a forum who are trying to help you, you should ask a lawyer, not us.

Quote
is there a bitcoin wallet that is trusted that you can refer me to?
If you're that paranoid, use Bitcoin Core. With Bitcoin Core you don't have to trust anyone else ever again.

ask a lawyer what? what are you getting at?

excuse me, but are you insulting me? Give me a break, the reason why people refer me to a list of wallets,
is because they do not trust any one of the wallets themselves, or do not feel confident in any one wallet.
you need to confess that bitcoin does have a wallet problem or problems,
and one of those problems is that the wallet is hard to get to work, and involves trying to find your way through a minefield
of potential attacks or assaults or insults(as we see you seem to be trying to insult me),
and I still do not have a bitcoin wallet that works.
But I will look into Bitcoin Core, thank you for that suggestion
Smiley

Sorry, but if you want to be taken seriously in future endeavors you might hav on this forum, i suggest to re-read what you write before you post it.

Bitcoin absolutely has no problems with a lack of wallets. There's numerous open-source wallets out there which are 100% clean and safe to use, ( as long as you pc is not infected.).

What is so difficult with using Electrum exactly?

It installs in a matter of minutes, and connects in seconds. You're the only one with the keys, however you do rely on their nodes, but that's the case with every wallet, unless you decide to setup your own.

2433  Other / Meta / Re: Signature rules? on: October 28, 2017, 02:21:44 PM
You can have ref links in your signature just not posts. I don't think one in your signature will have been removed by an admin though.
I'm not too sure, but i think the rule of thumb is that you can only have one ref link in your signature, otherwise people are going to abuse it and clutter up the forum with 100s of ref links in their signature.
2434  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Altcoin Exchange Script (PHP/MySQL) on: October 28, 2017, 11:11:33 AM
I liked your script. Is it possible to make custom changes in that script? Actually I am interested to buy that script. But I need to review your script or check your coding for any backdoors before buying that. Or can you give your script to any trusted member of this forum to check your coding for any back doors. Trust me, if any body writes a good review about your site, then definitely you will get more customers for your script.

I just placed an order for it. Paid ~60$, lets see what i will actually get delivered. Seems a bit too good to be true, but who knows, could be legit. Will keep you updated on it, and write a review later.

EDIT: Just received the code, will try to get it up&&running.
2435  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: help to all newbie on: October 28, 2017, 10:14:37 AM
Smiley Smiley Grin Grin pls some one should help us newbies with sigantures campaigns
1)how to get them
2)how to get involved with them

i think we will all appreciate that

you have to get try to invest in to bit coin so first search once in to Google. most of the new biers now a days want to buying bit coins and next they have to investing in bit coins. if you are newbie then try to gain few information about bit coin and trading. so next really you get good knowledge on that. newbie invest few amount of money in bit coin and hold it long time then you getting one idea on that.

What are you even talking about? What he is asking has nothing to do with buying altcoins or trading at all. Do you even read the topic before you spam out your nonsense? C'mon Bruh.

There is absolutely no knowledge required to join signature campaigns actually. The only thing you will need is a decent rank, and a functioning brain ( some level of english ), and you're good to go to join some bounty altcoin campaigns as a jr Member.

I'd recommend not joining any btc campaigns until you're full member, as the requirements are usually much higher, and you will get banned from them faster for being so ignorant as the above poster.
2436  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which exchange do you trade on and why? on: October 27, 2017, 09:00:52 PM
Yobit. It has a good selection and is anonymous (or at least you can be anonymous).

Not to mention that it is also an exchange with russian gateways to potentially launder enormous amounts of money, and that they are registered in the middle of nowhere + the fact that they have no volume + 99% of their coins are shitcoins that are being pump & dumped.

A post i made earlier this year covers this, i really wouldn't state that yobit is the "Best" exchange.

Anyone outside who is able to provide some details about yobit, like ownership, address, etc.? Would be much appreciated.......

This is what a user in another forum spread about YoBit, which is unconfirmed, but looks very weird to me. It would be great if the admin of YoBit could enlighten me about this, and if this is actually true.

(Sorry for hijacking your thread)

Quote
Yobit;
-Registered in offshore heaven Panama

-Fiat withdrawals are oriented on Russian platforms with ability to launder money,

-Confirmed bots on yobits behalf pumping and dumping with intention to make FUD and FOMO.

There's a shit amount of reports and complaints about them.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1857032.0 for example.
2437  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which exchange do you trade on and why? on: October 27, 2017, 08:44:58 PM
Hi. I am newbie, as you already understood. I want to discuss exchanges, because I am a curious person Tongue and I consider this subject as a very important one for loosers like me.  Roll Eyes
2 questions
1. Why prices for the same currency are different on a different exchanges?
2. Which exchange do you trade on and why?

This question has been asked many times before, so you might aswell use the search button, or google it.

1. Because the demands are different on different exchanges, due to other people trading on each exchange. Volumes for example are going to be different aswell. However, this usually resolves itself because of arbitrage. See, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbitrage

2. Poloniex & Bittrex.

I like the layout of Poloniex & i have never had a problem with them in the past. I'd say the same goes with bittrex but i feel they're a little bit safer, that's just a feeling and hasn't been proven at all.

I tend to only trade on the exchanges with the highest volume, so i guess that is a big reason aswell that i trade on bittrex/poloniex.
2438  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Core - Watching Only Wallet for a Given Wallet Address on: October 27, 2017, 07:26:07 PM
Is it possible to create a watching only wallet in bitcoin core for a given wallet address? If yes, can you explain to me how to do it?

Yes, this has been made possible ages ago, see https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2a222h/support_for_watchonly_addresses_merged_into/

I'm not entirely sure how you can add one in core speficically, but it shouldn't be too difficult. All you do is add an adress basically.

Try something like this here? https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3ewig4/really_like_the_watch_only_functionality_in/

Quote
The "importaddress" RPC adds an address or pubkey script to the wallet without the associated private key, allowing you to watch for transactions affecting that address or pubkey script without being able to spend any of its outputs.
https://bitcoin.org/en/glossary/watch-only-address

It seems that some people have difficulties with it.

See;

Quote
In the console just use:

"importaddress" and use no rescan. After having imported all addresses, rescan to get the balances right. In the QT window the watch-only addresses will popup with their respective balances in a separate area. To see the balances after the rescan, you need to run a full node with the full block chain. If you run a pruned node you will have to reload the whole block chain again. This is not really necessary if you are not interested in historical transactions and only in the final balance because the UTXO set is enough. I made a github issue of that but it hasn't been implemented yet.

2439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin stuck since 17 oktober :( on: October 27, 2017, 06:21:37 PM
I wish I had such a help, when I got a similar issue Sad

Well, what was your issue, and is it since been resolved? Did you open a thread about it?

Issues like these turn out to have really simple solutions.

Well im using Blockchain so I have very limited options I saw Sad
There is a paid accelerator service provided by BTC.com, you have to pay a fee which isn't that high. According to your transaction size, you might pay $13.39 that is equivalent to 0.0023 BTC.
Or you ask kindly one of the people here in the Service-Section if they are ready to accelerate your transaction with a lower fee like here.

That one overcharges like hell, i wouldn't never advise anyone to use that. It used to charge like around 5-4$ for a 40$ tx in the past if i can recall correctly.

Well im using Blockchain so I have very limited options I saw Sad

I see that your tx is confirmed, but even if they weren't there is a way to move your private keys out of blockchain.info, and move them into something like electrum.
2440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Splitting Bitcoin into Bitcoin Gold in Electrum wallet - how to? on: October 27, 2017, 05:46:03 PM
I have a very practical question:

I'd like to split the Bitcoins that I had prior to the Bitcoin Gold fork to collect my free Bitcoin Gold coins.
I'm using electrum 2.9.2, which claims to automatically detect different networks after a fork.

I currently can't seem to find this fork yet in electrum wallet (despite following their procedure). Am I doing something wrong, or am I just to early?

I'd like to dump my free BTG as soon as possible before the BTG price drops even further than it has.

Kr,
Sofien

I don't think BitcoinGold is live yet. I'm not sure when they will actually, i thought it was going to be next monday??

Either way they only took a snapshot yet, to distribute the coins when the fork actually happens.. There has been no chain split yet.

So yes, you're just too early.

If you want to make sure you've configured everything right in electrum, checkout this guide. http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/hardfork.html
