I think if you put a note there mentioning to ignore '<>' signs maybe good. [1] https://i.imgur.com/UZDCSad.pngDone, thanks for the tipp. It might be better if I redo the picture, what do you think? Thanks for the fast response. I think that will do.

backupwallet is the same as copying wallet.dat
encrypting the wallet means encrypting the private keys.
If you have made a backup, and then you encrypt your wallet, you need to make a new backup because the old one will not work anymore.
Anyway that's my understanding, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. And I'm sure I've missed some important points.
Wasn't there a bug in a previous version of bitcoin-qt where the backup did only back up the first hundred bitcoin addresses so that the ones coming after that were not backed up. Then does this mean the backing up procedure of the wallet.dat did change? It is not a bug and it is same for latest versions AFAIK.

Hello Everyone!
I just set up the Chrome version of GreenAddress on my laptop. It looks really nice!
But I'm a little confused. I set up up a MultiSig sub-wallet and have backed up the recovery information and the xpub key as suggested/warned. But what do I do at this point? How do I use it? Can it be used with something like a Blockchain.info wallet? Is there any documentation that can walk me through the process of getting a GreenAddress MultiSig wallet actually operating?
I don't know if I'm being thick-headed or what but I just don't see how to implement the wallet now that I've created it.
Please advise.
I think you can use Electrum [1]. I have not tried it. You will have to choose 2-of-3 when creating Electrum wallet. FYI -- xpub key is extended public key which you can use to check your balance in block explorers. [1] https://github.com/greenaddress/electrum/tree/greenaddress-2of3-recovery

two more question voisine:
can i have the same wallet replicated in more than one iphone?
Yes but you should not IMHO. Click "restore backup"(IIRC) when starting app and enter backup seed/phrases. However, I don't know whether anything happens when 2 devices simultaneously fetch for same pub keys. why everyone says to backup my wallet ( https://bitcoin.org/en/secure-your-wallet) if with the pass phrase i can recover it anytime anywhere? i just have to keep my passphrase secure and don't need to backup nothing, because my information is on blockchain forever, right? Yes. You only need to backup phrase. extra question: you copied the design of doughwallet app? or they copied you?
Doughwallet forked breadWallet.

I would not judge all muslim people, just because few islam religious soldiers (ISIS etc) are doing harm to western civilized world. They are doing it for their God, and they think that is the right thing to do
This thread is not about ISIS. Plenty of those already. Not this one. Check out post #2 to know what this WHOLE thread is about. Thank you. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=888757.msg9799830#msg9799830 I already commented about it and there is nothing "islamic" there and article says that it was a "revenge". Anyway, change the title if you are talking about "that" thing because this title and your OP is misleading. Here's how Islam will take America down. It won't be by attack. It won't be by infiltration. It will be through sympathy. Americans are seeing all the activity that Big Oil is using government to do against Muslims in the Middle East. Americans see the pain that America is causing other people. Americans sympathize with these other people. Americans are starting to protest this governmental activity. Soon Americans will do more than simply protest. The will literally seek to stop American government from harming other people. Once this happens in a bigger way than it is now, the government will send in the military to stop Americans. This will essentially take down the American government, turning America into a civil law country - dictatorship by government. The fact that this is happening already is seen in all the rights Americans seem to be losing. So, America is destroying America?

Noob here. If I have bitcoins in a specific bitcoin client wallet (e.g. Amor, or Multibit HD, etc) and for some reason that wallet and its associated software client on my phone or pc no longer works (perhaps no longer supported by the operating system-- I have seen that happen with games, e.g. Diablo I, Diablo II games would not run on Windows 7), how would I get my bitcoin money? I don't understand if a bitcoin wallet from one specific software client is portable for importing into a different software client. Of course one should backup one's wallet, but that won't do any good if the software client that creates the backup does so in its proprietary data file format. Cold storage is one option I suppose, would that work, but still what if one did not want cold storage and its theft risks? Confused, and this seems important to me at least, so i know I would not lose my $ because of software no longer working. Most wallets have a backup or recovery feature. Do not use a wallet that does not have a backup or recovery feature. You will be ok if you back up the wallet (or the seed) before you send bitcoins to it. Yup with services like bitcoinpaperwallet.com it could be very easy to print one or more private keys and just send the BTC to it. Make sure you are not disconnected from the internet. Are you telling me to generate paper wallets online? @Everyone: Please don't do what he says. Bitcoinpaperwallet.com uses codes taken from BitAddress.org. You can use either of them. But don't use them or generate private keys online.

Hi, Muhammed Zakir Why you say:
Don't use Blockchain.info wallet ?!?
there are problem with this wallet?
It's online which means it is not fully in your control. I don't agree with Muhammed Zakir, I think it is perfectly usable for small amounts. Use it if you prefer it for convenience, but don't put majority of your funds there. Have a wallet normally installed on your own computer with majority of your funds or a paper wallet or something.
Small or big, Bitcoin is Bitcoin. If you really want to use Blockchain.info, you can but never store more than you can afford to loose. There are no problems with blockchain.info Just make sure you have no malware and the private keys exported.
There are no problems with Blockchain.info except developers keep pushing buggy codes which results in lot of looses. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1085983.0, for example. Do you think a matured developers would do that? There have been incidents in past and there is no guarantee for no such incidents in future. Please don't recommed things blindly.

oki, so it seems, that the Useless user called Amph will never ever come back again or reply...he did his useless post, post is counted, so why he should even bother himself..? ....
I don't want to "defend" him but if the admin have not banned him then I think there is a reason behind that choice, or am I wrong? Amph does make qualitative posts but at the same time he spams. Mods may gave a warning to Amph or maybe they are in doubt whether to ban him or not.

I got the "CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES" error after 3 days of "work" with my nvidia 9600GT,is it a real lack of power of its just a bug? Tnx...
Nvidia cards are like that. I get that too. If you use NVIDIA hardware, CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES is a kind of "generic" error returned by the driver when something is wrong. As a result, it is not necessarily a real "Out of resources" problem.
For instance, calling clCreateFromGLTexture2D() with an invalid texture ID will often return CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES with an NVIDIA driver whereas it will return CL_INVALID_GL_OBJECT with an AMD or Intel driver.

Why did you buy this account even after you saw negative trust? -snip-
If you had purchased the account before it had negative ratings then a scam was discovered after the fact then it would be possible for me to reconsider the rating if I was sure you didn't fake the sale.
I don't think so.

I saw your message and I won't remove it. Edit: Oh is Quickseller one of them ? Why I am not at all even a little surprised , because thats what that guy does, playing virtual cop in this forum. Well, if people like you avoid doing shady things, QS won't have to do this.

You should be fine with the first backup. You only need the private key to spend the coin. However, if the wallet.dat is anything like Bitcoin's, after you use 100 addresses, you need to backup again because it will generate another 100 addresses for the keypool. If you don't backup, you could lose those coins since the keys are generated randomly not deterministically.
Are you sure DOGE does not have a client that can create deterministic wallets? I dont know the answer but would be surprised if they did not. Better safe than sorry until you find out for sure There are apps to create HD wallets for Doge. However, knightdk (and probably, nubbins7 too) was talking about Bitcoin-qt and similar wallets.
