I've got a bone to pick with the UFC refs, I can't remember who was reffing now, probably because I was so annoyed. So, my predictions were going well right, until the Kleydson Rodrigues fight. However, his opponent grabbed the fence three separate times, and even maintained top position because of it. It wasn't punished once. So, whether or not Kleydson Rodrigues lost that fight overall, doesn't matter. When do we start punishing blatant fence grabs, especially when they actually directly benefit the fighter?

I feel there should be a zero tolerance if it results in them bettering their position or maintaining it. One point deduction straight away. I'm more annoyed because it basically ruined my accumulator for the night, but also am annoyed that nothing was done, when it was clear. It wasn't like the ref didn't see it, he bloody warned him all three times! CJ should have had the points deducted at least once, but risk it three times across multiple rounds.
1762  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 07, 2022, 02:03:04 PM
Aston Villa vs Burnley is the other game I'd say is in danger of being a 0 - 0. Aston Villa haven't been on top form recently, and Burnley will be very cautious since obviously they're playing for their survival in the Premier League. Honestly, that's the most interesting game for me out of the 15:00 kick off's.

Son-Kane are still the pairing I respect most in modern football, and the S Korean is chasing Salah for the Golden Boot, they'll be incentivised to try and close that gap. But that's great news for me because I'd want them to try and attack so we can go for their throats too.
When both are on top of their game, Spurs look like title challengers, that's how good the pairing can be. They suit each other perfectly, and I think Kane has come to grips that he's better when he drops back, and Son makes the runs, whereas before I think Kane was always looking for those goals, which ultimately made him a worse player for a period of time.

It'll be hard, I can't see us keeping a clean sheet, but if we do we'll need Alison on top of his game, as I expect they'll have a few chances with our high line.
1763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 07, 2022, 01:46:46 PM
Right, my predictions:

Justin Gaethje (I fancied him before all of this missing weight, so I'm sticking with it)
Carla Esparza (Changing it, this is what I was originally going to bet anyhow)
Michael Chandler (Probably my most confident pick of the night)
Ovince St. Preux
Joe Lauzon
Andre Fialho
Randy Brown
Norma Dumont
Brandon Royval
Blagoy Ivanov
Francisco Trinaldo
Tracy Cortez
Kleydson Rodrigues
Lupita Godinez
Fernie Garcia

I've got Justin, OSP, Chandler, Fialho, and Brandon Royval on a rather large accumulator, along with some football. Those are probably my most confident picks of the night. OSP being the lesser confident of the bunch. Along with Justin obviously, since that's going to be a close fight.

No I don't think I ever saw anything like this happening before.
I am looking at odds now on Sportsbet and Oliveira is still favorite but odds is going up on him, and I think he is going to win because money is still involved and maybe he won't have so much pressure and he will be angry Smiley
Yeah, I took a look, this is the first time this has happened apparently, that''s probably why I couldn't recall it happening. There's a conspiracy theory going on, that the weighing scales were inaccurate, that to be honest I don't there's much weight Wink behind that accusation.

1764  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 06, 2022, 09:19:41 PM
I'm hoping Everton go down, simply because I was so frustrated playing against them, and well playing against their antics was infuriating. Other than that, it should be a exciting few weeks with both the top of the table, and the bottom of the table being very close. I do think Everton survives though, they've found a strategy which seems to be working for them recently.

Phillips, Meslier, Raphina will likely all go. I wonder if there's many contracts with relegation clauses? I doubt Leeds will bounce straight back.
These are the only ones which I imagine would have regelation clauses, anyone else I doubt so. Although, like you say it's probably already settled that they'll be leaving in the summer. I guess the question is whether those clauses kick in or if they go for a decent fee. I think Raphina walks into a lot of mid table teams, and probably performs pretty well. Phillips I like, but I'm not quite sold on him yet.
1765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 06, 2022, 09:09:56 PM
I can't recall the last two fighters that this happened too, anyone remember? I honestly believe lumping on Justin now to win, is probably a good idea. Since, he's going to be raring to go since he can still win it, while Olivera will be feeling a little bit disappointed, and knowing he can't win that belt on the night is going to demotivate him even further than he already is. You've got to feel for him though, missing out by half a pound, and being stripped of something he has already defended once, right?

Justin it is, I'm wondering how this might effect the odds going into the night. Might get a bet in early if they haven't changed too much.
1766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 06, 2022, 09:01:16 AM
Honestly, I think Chelsea are going to struggle against Wolves this week. Thinking of going with another 0 - 0, very nearly pulled that off with the Everton game last week. As for the Liverpool vs Tottenham game, if I was going to make a prediction, I'd probably go with a 3-1 to Liverpool. I think their defense is rather suspect, but their counter attacking can't be underestimated, and I think they'll ultimately end up grabbing a goal from the counter. Probably with Son getting the goal. I imagine Kane will be dropping deeper looking to feed Son in behind, and if they can beat our high defensive line, they might have a field day.
1767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 06, 2022, 08:56:30 AM
It also appears that there is again another very underestimated fighter hehehe. Everyone is cheering for Thug Rose, however, we have forgotten that the wrestler Carla Esparza has defeated thug Rose before. This was many years ago and there might be improvements on Rose, however, we have witnessed during Rose vs. Weili that there might not be improvements in wrestling for Rose. Weili made 5 takedowns during that fight. Carla Esparza might make more takedowns and have more time in controlling Rose on the ground.
I'm actually not a big fan of thug rose, probably due to not being American, and she's quite a heavy favourite over there. However, I'm going for her on my predictions simply because I believe the momentum she has, might just be enough to get her the win.

Whereas, my predictions which I'll post up tonight I'll probably include a note, that I'll actually be putting Carla on my betting slip, since I believe she more, than enough has what it takes, and the odds are looking rather tasty from a betting perspective. Carla isn't any slog on the feet either in my opinion, could be a decent match up, and a challenging night for both ladies.
1768  Other / Meta / Re: Would you like to access Bitcointalk though a console? on: May 06, 2022, 08:42:41 AM
If I would have very slow intenet connection or very limited data abroad, I probably rather would use WAP version of Bitcointalk.
Well, I'll be damned. I didn't think about this last time out. I'll out of country relatively soonish, and will be resorting to this at least for reading, obviously with the posting limitations, a console might still have some use here. Although, thanks for reminding me of the ;wap version of the forum.

I sharing also the idea from Pmalek that it would be more useful for getting or have an official mobile app for Bitcointalk as in a lot of Countries its the most used device.
For me again it would have limited uses since I only use the mobile phone to read when out, and about don't ever log in on it, although this is the one that would gain the most support. Although, I imagine for Cyrus, it doesn't satisfy the inner nerd as much as a console.
1769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: California to encourage companies to deal in cryptocurrency? on: May 05, 2022, 10:01:34 PM
I don't know much about this Gavin Newsome, although that article is an absolute mess. Can't believe they had to put the Warren Buffet quote in, and its almost coming across as why would Gavin Newsome do this sort of thing, considering there's so many warning sides. I'm sensing a little bias in this article. Anyway, on to the question; I imagine they'll regulate it through taxes right? If you think about it, California has some of the most wealthy people, and businesses in the world, and I imagine a lot of them will be invested in Bitcoin, so it makes sense to adjust taxes to suit them. I'm not at all familiar with how states work, and how they pass laws, but I'm assuming they'll attempt to adjust the tax rate for Bitcoin/cryptocurrencies to be more than that of fiat, that would be my thinking. Plus, they'll bring in legalisation which benefits their pockets when it comes to operating a business involved with cryptocurrencies.

I imagine this will be the case for quite a few states, and countries. Cryptocurrency companies will likely be put under higher levels of scrutiny, and be taxed higher than the standard tax threshold, they'll justify this with its volatile, and risky nature, while directly benefiting from it.
1770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Semifinals! on: May 05, 2022, 09:53:55 PM
I know it's a while off from the final, but I'm just going to leave a prediction here, that I'm quietly confident on. I'm thinking 2-0 Liverpool (barring any injuries). Think that's quite a bold prediction to make, however I do think we have the defensive capabilities of keeping them quiet, Trent will need to be on his best game for Vinicius Jr, but other than that I'm quite confident in our back line.

Plus, our front line is absolutely devastating to the best of teams, and I believe Real Madrid have demonstrated a real weakness in defense, even in that City game they needed to plug the holes a little better, they just got a tad fortunate that City wasn't quite up for the game, otherwise they could've easily conceded more. We'll also be wanting some revenge for getting knocked out last time by them, I honestly still have flashbacks about Karius, and those goals...by one of my most favourite players Cheesy.
1771  Other / Meta / Re: Would you like to access Bitcointalk though a console? on: May 05, 2022, 08:44:54 PM
It's interesting how only senior members have replied so far and nobody has written they don't like the idea or are against it.
I wouldn't use a console to access Bitcointalk. I want my experience to preserve at least some visual appeal.
I highly suspect it'll be a gimmick or have very limited uses, such as the travelling example given above. So, excitement is likely to be quite high, and therefore users will be trying it the first few hours, but it's a rather acquired taste I'd say, and it'll quickly become tedious for a lot that have never tried a text based browser before.

For uses, it has limits. Although, it does definitely satisfy the geek in a lot of us.

1772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peace of mind for Bitcoin Mining if it is renewable? on: May 05, 2022, 08:40:18 PM
Not just legislation, countries worldwide would need to go as far as to unionize to deploy a blanket legislation.
Yeah, which isn't going to happen. I mean the West is really pushing the renewable energy narrative, but I don't believe the East are, as much at least. It'll probably be Europe to make the first move if anything, although I'm not sure how likely that is either mind you.

Even if we reach 100% renewables with Bitcoin public perception would still be shite. People would say something along the lines of "Bitcoin is still a waste of energy because we could've been using the renewable energy for more important things" or something like that.
Hopefully by the time that happens, we'll have a cure for stupidity too Cheesy. Nah, in all seriousness I'm hoping we've converted the masses by then, since fiat by that time will be in the trenches, we're already heading for a global recession, probably a lot worse than the 2009 crisis.
1773  Other / Meta / Re: Would you like to access Bitcointalk though a console? on: May 05, 2022, 04:51:41 PM
Also, as a side note. As long as it looks like the terminals from the Fallout series Wink.

In all seriousness, to be a bit more specific on my earlier post, I probably would only find the need when travelling. Other than that, I think I've become a little too reliant on certain modifications I've made to use it as a daily thing.

wouldnt one result of this to be opening up more vulnerabilities?

i mean theymos has hardened this forum through the years.. or would that hardening come along with the apis?
Depends on how it would be implemented. For example, text browsers without Javascript literally remove natively the issue of malicious attacks through Javascript. Same as specific attacks with media, and depending how hardened you want to make the console, you could even prevent phishing attempts, via non obscuring links with the url bbcode. The thing is with modern browsers while pretty well updated, and reasonably secure, they tend to offer a lot of customisation, which is where you tend to deviate from the original browser, and start introducing vulnerabilities. Plus, I think most browsers are made for convenience, by default don't come with the optimal settings. Although, modern browsers are also suspect to attacks, it's why things like turning off Javascript or using an extension like No Script is recommended. Text based browsers can also be set to reject cookies, so might even be better for the privacy conscious.

I'm not exactly sure how the Twitter terminal works, since I haven't got Twitter. However, I imagine its a fairly basic API, that doesn't allow you to connect outside of Twitter, and conveys information back, and forth. Which due to its limited nature could be considered more secure than a browser that is used for everything.

So, in short as with anything depends on how it's implemented.
1774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peace of mind for Bitcoin Mining if it is renewable? on: May 05, 2022, 03:56:16 PM
^ Also taking note that we're talking about Bitcoin here — probably literally the most difficult industry to regulate.
Yeah, the only way you achieve mass regulation with Bitcoin is unfortunately via bringing in legislation, and even then its not a guarantee people will listen. That's the unfortunate thing about this though, while I think it's all being blown out of proportion, the real risk is public perception, and right now the public would probably support bringing in some hefty legislation to control Bitcoin, since in their heads we are the big bad wolves, when in reality we're, but a spec on the very well oiled machine.

The attacks would continue even if crypto currency were completely sustainable. Out of all the angles to attack crypto, energy consumption is by far the weakest and most illogical. Don't expect these people to be arguing in good faith.
I don't know. I would disagree. The way the world is going, I actually think the energy debate might be the one that to significantly prevent Bitcoin adoption, and probably is the biggest threat. Now, don't jump to conclusions there, I don't think this because the claims are absolutely right, I say this because it's a matter of public perception. Public perception is important to us, even if we do like to pretend it isn't. Public perception, directly translates to adoption, which effectively...effects all of us. So, we should be caring about what the public think to a certain extent, however convincing them of the almost slander that has been happening will be difficult. I say almost slander, because in reality they have a point that we could be better, but so could every other industry out there.

Bitcoin is just easier to attack since there's no way to actually verify all the numbers, and there's no authority pointing miners what to do. Also, the fact that Proof of Work is seen as a negative thing by most people due to the energy needed, even though it's vital to Bitcoin in its current implementation.
1775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PH banned online cockfighting - Worst gambling-related cases recorded! on: May 05, 2022, 03:18:51 PM
I don't see animal cruelty here because in the first place, these fighting cocks are treated well. It's hard to breed fighting cocks for a purpose on that. Breeders are spending lots of money here and in the end, they will just show cruelty on their own fighting cocks lol.
Living things bred for a purpose, that they don't have any control for. If you want to look at evolution, they wasn't meant to be bred for a specific purpose. I mean, I know the counter argument to this is that we breed animals all the time to eat produce or harvest certain materials from them. However, breeding something to basically fight, and as far as I know fight to the death in most cases? That doesn't sit right with me. Personally, I'm quite shocked the amount of users here talking about the money aspect, rather than the morality of it all.

Personally, I couldn't care about the money aspect. A question to ask would be if it brings money into the country, and benefits people that would otherwise be poor, is that a real reason to basically condemn an animal to this way of life? Effectively it's for gambling, which you could question if that's moral, especially when it hasn't been implemented with the upmost due diligence.

I know as humans we've tended to use animals in history as a way of entertainment, and we still do. Although, personally for me I'm not a fan of the animals being bred to fight to the death. Even, the bulls which are penned in, and then agitated purposely to get a show. Also, not a fan of that.

One the one hand you have animal cruelty and gambling addiction and on the other hand you have extra Tax income for the government. How will the people feel, if a school was built on the tax income from lives that was ruined by gambling addiction and animal cruelty?

This will never happen in 1st world countries where people are more distanced from the cruelty that are connected to animal slaughter for their meat. They are too sensitized and pre-occupied with animal rights and tree hugging ..than in 3rd world countries.
You make good points, and I've thought about this. It definitely does do good, but at what cost? I mean, shouldn't we be striving to make money at as little cost to other life around us as possible? I'm sure there's other things they could be pouring money into to better the country, because no doubt there was money being poured into this sport from all over.

The good point you do make is, we do harvest animals for food. This happens all over the world, and despite improving awareness about the conditions these animals are put in, it's still universally bad. There's also definitely moral questions to be asked about this situation. For the record, I say that as a non vegetarian.
1776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin uses energy and does not need to be renewable. on: May 05, 2022, 03:07:41 PM
I don't agree with the quote per say, seems a little hostile for no reason. Sounds more like a quote to try, and be a quote basically, if you get me. The way to go about it is being diplomatic. However, for that to happen we need the Bitcoin community to admit where we could be better, and the ones that are currently attacking Bitcoin need to take a step back, talk about the actual facts of the matter, and not be so biased.

That's the only way anything will get sorted. Even then, it isn't as simple as flicking a switch.

It does not need to be renewable, just like how the energy we use for our computers and other stuff like Christmas lights and stuff doesn't necessarily need to be renewable. But, it would be better if it was.
Which I think a lot of users here need to start owning up to, we get so defensive as a community when anything negative is said about Bitcoin. Although, there's some merit in the energy debate. However, unfortunately for us its being pushed the wrong way, and instead of just saying Bitcoin would be better with renewable energy, it's being claimed that we are one of the worst contributors to the environment, which is simply not true.

The fact is, as you put it; everything would benefit from renewable energy. However, I just said something like this in another post actually; there isn't going to be enough motivation to change the entire grid to renewable energy, since at the moment I see the energy debate as a bit of a buzz word. Companies know they can get good PR if they pretend to care about the environment, look all around you everyone know is using recyclable materials etc. It's just one of those phases we go through. Now, don't get me wrong I'm not trying to push it to one side, and say "Ah! It's but a phase! It shall soon pass!" because I genuinely believe we should be doing everything in our power to assure to be as good as possible. I think that's the right motto for a lot of walks of life, and not just Bitcoin related.

Although, the reality is once so much is done, and everyone appears to be energy, and green friendly it loses it's influence, and companies will begin to not care about it as much any more. I don't think our entire grid will convert, and if it does we aren't anywhere near it. We as people absolutely rely on fossil fuels, and it's going to take years for us to even consider replacing it. We simply have become reliant on it too much to say otherwise.
1777  Economy / Reputation / Re: hZti changed hands or not? on: May 05, 2022, 02:50:24 PM
Therefore, I suggest to give him a negative trust to ensure that the account belongs to the real owner.
Negative trust will not affect those who want to participate in the discussions and will force him to prove ownership of the account.
This seems like a rather heavy handed approach to the situation. Technically, if you suspect an account is compromised, you can contact or report the account to an admin. They can then take a look, as they have far more information than us. Really, it's not a requirement for someone to prove to everyone on the forum, especially assuming they've gone through the process of proving it to the recovery team. Obviously, it's ideally what someone would do, but not a requirement.

While I do understand this approach is with the best intentions, effectively you're strong arming someone into doing something that they might not want to do for whatever reason, and while the majority of the time you might be right in your assumptions it doesn't mean that'll always be the case.

Personally, with situations like these I'd rather inform an admin, see if they want to do some investigation, and just let it be until that user demonstrates untrustworthy behaviour. Applying for a signature campaign (whether they've read the sig rules or applied for multiple) doesn't really strike me as untrustworthy. I get that the combination of the account credentials being changed etc, but as you can see the recovery log also suggests that the recovery team were involved, who have much more information to act upon than us.
1778  Other / Meta / Re: Would you like to access Bitcointalk though a console? on: May 05, 2022, 02:41:13 PM
I could probably get some use out of it. If it's not just for the inner nerd in me, but when travelling consoles/text based browsers can be great if you're in a country which doesn't exactly have great internet access. When I went to Nepal for example, loading the forum was absolutely horrible, and that's taking into consideration that this forum is rather stripped down to most websites these days.

Though, obviously extremely limited use cases I'd say or better yet extremely limited user base that would be interested. I imagine a lot of users here have come accustomed to such privileges like UserScripts, and various extensions.

I am already using Bitcointalk in a console (lynx).
I've used Lynx in the past, can't recall if I've ever used it on Bitcointalk, but there was a period where I tried to use it for almost everything (that didn't require JS, since I didn't compile my own build). This is going years back though, and was more of a experiment than anything. I feel like these days I've been spoilt a little too much with the functionality of modern browsers.
1779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 05, 2022, 02:36:39 PM
This is a good card, and I haven't seen many getting hyped up for it. Is this event being slept on? There's some awesome fights, even if they're a tad unbalanced. I think the main event speaks  for itself, but the Ferguson fight despite probably going to be utter domination, has that sparkle in the eye for being an absolute war. Chandler is capable of a war, and Ferguson almost always puts on a war, mainly because the dude doesn't care much about defense Cheesy.

Fialho - Royval - Chandler at 2.16:  10 USD
Add:  Ivanov - Namajunas - OSP at 7.13:  5 USD
Add:  Dumont - Brown at 20.53:  2 USD
Add:  Godinez - Rodrigues - Roberts at 81.66:  2 USD
Add:  Lauzon - Gatto - Garcia at 846.87:  1 USD
Add:  Gaethje at 2108.72:  1 USD

Follow or fade but just a little warning...  I lost for two straight events now.  So it's better to fade.  Cheesy
If anyone else needs any more motivation to fade these predictions, I too have the majority of the same picks. I'll be getting mine up either later tonight or tomorrow, but I've got Royval, Chandler, Ivanov, Namajunas, Lauzon, Ovince Saint Preux and Gaethje. I'm still deciding on a few of the other fights.
1780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peace of mind for Bitcoin Mining if it is 100% renewable? on: May 05, 2022, 02:30:24 PM
Bitcoin won't become 100% renewable until every single other industry is, i.e the grid that they run off is 100% renewable, and to be honest we are quite a bit away from achieving that. Won't be for a long time, and dare I say it, I doubt it'll be done. The thing is, this renewable energy talk is big money right now, once we've converted so much of it, is it going to be as big money then? i.e reducing the urgency of converting, and therefore the motivation.

Money is the driving factor at the moment, not caring about the environment. Most of these companies don't care, they only care about public perception. While, there will be certain companies more environmentally conscious, I'm generalising somewhat on purpose, since I feel Bitcoin has been rather generalised against.

I'm getting a bit tired of all the talk if I'm quite honest. I'd be a lot more tolerable if everyone dropped the bias (including Bitcoin fanatics), and just talked straight out facts, but I think that's probably too much to ask.
