1601  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Interesting new coin for sale on Etsy - 3d printed. on: May 30, 2022, 09:52:56 PM
my concern would be the keys - they generate them and save them to files and convert to print files then send to printer and then delete - that means there are at one time possibly 2 files containing the keys and they are deleted. I wonder if either the machine that generates the keys or the one that prints them is ever online.
Since, most printers are sort of going the online route these days, I think it would be best to assume that. Ideally, people that want to be selling these types of things, can prove the process rather than just saying the steps they take. Even, when it comes to highly trusted users in the space, it only takes mishandling that process to potentially unknowingly compromise it. Things like printers having storage, and storing previous files, then later selling that printer, something that someone might not at first thing of.

So, yeah I'm probably in support of avoiding funding these, unless there was a provable way of generating them, and manufacturing them, which there probably isn't in this specific scenario or is probably too much effort for the potential sales they could get.

Again, I'll echo the sentiment here, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I just think it's good to be as security conscious as possible when it comes to things like this. Personally, I wouldn't want a large amount stored on a physical thing like this anyway.
1602  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: trouble with bitshield on: May 30, 2022, 09:42:36 PM
Judging by the reviews on the Google play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitshield.bitshieldwallet&hl=en&gl=US

Many suggest that this might actually be intentional. I can't comment on that, since I'd never even heard of it until today. However, I guess the main priority would be establishing whether the seed is legitimate, and not just made up to appear like it is legitimate. They may have used their own seed generation, which is only valid for their wallet. Obviously, don't just spurt out your seed, but look at the seed word list, maybe copy the raw text of it, and compare it with your seed offline to be safe.

Seems to be a fairly popular app on the app store, but that doesn't mean much.
1603  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: SeedSigner: Review on: May 30, 2022, 07:49:18 PM
Not sure I agree with their explanation of wanting to generate entropy via meatspace. I'd like to think that a hardwallet takes much of the responsibility of generating entropy off the person as possible, since for me hardware wallets are more likely to be bought, and used by newbies. Alright, maybe SeedSigner isn't as accessible as ready made options, but still I prefer to idea of taking that out of the users hands or at very least giving an option to the user.

It's necessary. Without the camera you can't scan the PSBT from your computer's monitor.
Ah, yeah I seem to have forgotten about that small detail Cheesy. That makes sense. Well cheers for the review, wasn't overly familiar with SeedSigner.
1604  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: SeedSigner: Review on: May 30, 2022, 02:12:49 PM
Always a massive fan of users DIYing this sort of stuff. I've sadly run out of merit though.

I'm assuming the dearest piece of kit here is the camera, which might not be necessary for users that don't want to scan QR codes? Since, most other hardware wallets don't offer this, you could potentially even argue that this is an additional expense that isn't really needed. I guess the convenience is there if you need it though.
1605  Other / Meta / Re: BADecker can do this ... on: May 29, 2022, 11:50:02 AM
I don't think it should be that difficult. There are plenty of people in P&S who post absolute nonsense, but at least manage to mostly stay on topic and can make a coherent post, even if the content of that post is moronic. And then there are people like BADecker and Tash who just post low quality and off topic trash which contributes absolutely nothing to any thread.

We delete off topic posts and posts which add nothing in other boards. Why not P&S?
I do agree somewhat, there's definitely a few cases of pretty straight forward off topic replies, or just genuinely low quality posts. Although, I do think you need someone in the P&S section that probably doesn't care all too much about politics, otherwise personal beliefs, and views can get in the way.

So, maybe looking at reporters list there, determining who has accurate reports, and then whether or not they've shown any particular strong views. Normally you probably want a moderator that's somewhat involved in that community/section, but I think P&S might be where that differs from the norm. I don't know the answer really, that's theymos' headache fortunately for us, but I do tend to agree that the section probably does need a little bit more scrutiny, which I do believe theymos knows hence him creating that thread a while back for elections.

I don't see the reports there, but I can just imagine the amount when users are debating, and then trying to get the other person's post removed. So, you've got that pressure from the general forum users to clean up the section, and then you've got to sift through the bad reports, which I'd have a guess it's higher than the average section.
1606  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Crossword on: May 29, 2022, 10:49:58 AM
Here's a feedback: Make the next game available using a countdown. I figured out there's a bitcoin crossword a little late, and couldn't find the time. It'll be interesting to have some Lightning invoice exchanging this time.  Wink
Yeah, I realised it only after completing it that it was already completed. Although, I still had fun doing it.

Yeah, the countdown idea would be good. But I don't have a big channel to let people know that the challenge is starting. Maybe a simple optin form on my website? I could also post the announcement of when the riddle starts on the new post I guess. Like a few days before and then a T minus 24h announcement.

I could also put a counter of when my next riddle is going online now, on say handsomelatino.com/#next-riddle, but that would require people checking in often.

Problem with this is that Reddit users are gonna flame me, but I can always just post when it starts on reddit and give you guys a small heads up. People here can vouch that I am legit and not some random scammer Smiley
Depends where you want to go with the project, but you don't necessarily need a big channel. Here would be beneficial to us obviously, and makes it a little bit more fair for everyone involved as at least then we can potentially start all at the same time.

As for Reddit users normally demonstrate herd mentality, so depending on the first couple of reactions is usually how everyone sees it. Basically, why I don't use it. I find users are misusing the upvote/downvoting system a lot too. So, they're voting for things they like which isn't exactly how it's suppose to be used. Anyway, another topic for another day.
1607  Other / Meta / Re: BADecker can do this ... on: May 29, 2022, 10:38:36 AM
Does P&S even have an active moderator right now?
No dedicated moderator, theoretically global moderators, and patrollers (well and, admins) are the only ones that'll see reports there. The latter obviously only posts made by newbies that have been reported, which doesn't happen often.

Probably does need a moderator, although I do believe it'll be a difficult job finding someone who's impartial enough, that they don't just delete things that seem like utter crap because they don't agree with the users opinion, but also get rid of the stuff that is just low quality. I think off topic replies probably do need to be either split to a separate thread or removed, as I have found that it tends to happen a lot. Especially, when the history of one thread, and a debate sort of leaks into others.
1608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 28, 2022, 09:56:24 PM
With Liverpool losing the Champions League final, I really needed UFC to cheer me up this weekend. Worst weekend ever Cheesy.

I think Dana is busy trying to make comeback fight for Connor McGregor and Nick Diaz might be perfect opponent for him, if both of them agree and make some deal.
Both of them are not deserving to come anywhere near championship contender, but they could make profit in pay-per-view and bring crowd in arenas.

I'd be all for that. I'm sick of Conor just rocking up, and getting a top 5 or title shot. Nick Diaz probably does get pieced up by Conor mind, but I think it's a decent level for a comeback fight especially after that snapped ankle. I'll be honest, I thought Conor looked good in that fight against Poirier up until that ankle break. I thought Poirer took the round, but Conor was in that fight. Him pulling guard was a bad idea, and probably showed he felt the pressure. However, he wasn't awful that a lot of people claim.

1609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 (September 17) on: May 28, 2022, 09:46:35 PM
At the age of 31, Canelo looks to be nearing retirement. He appeared to have lost his motivation, or been in too many wars against Bivol.
I don't know about that, he's probably one of the more active fighters, and recently challenged himself in a different weight class. That's something that's refreshing about Cancelo, and probably why he is such a fan favourite. He is probably one of the more active bigger names. I love Tyson Fury right, but he doesn't fight enough. Same as Joshua, and the like. Cancelo constantly is thinking about his next fight, so I don't think it's a motivation issue  for him.

Probably has a few years left in him too.

Canelo to me is the most overrated boxer in the world. I don't understand how he gets so much hype behind him.
This I can somewhat agree with. I've always thought this, hence why not following him all that much. Thought he would struggle against Bivol, and that was proven to be true. Not sure, what to say about him really. He's a great boxer, but definitely overrated, isn't anywhere near the greatest of all time, that inevitably was thrown around about him.
1610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Final! on: May 28, 2022, 09:39:48 PM
Absolutely gutted. Honestly, man of the match has to be Courtois without him we would've been running away with the tie. Well, a brilliant season for Liverpool regardless, which unfortunately will be forgotten due to the only silverware won being the cups, which Klopp, and us fans have pretty much not cared about in the past. While, I do like winning them, there's nothing like winning the Premier league or Champions League. Just a disappointing end to the season. Well done to Real Madrid, they aren't the team they used to be, i.e attacking, and exciting, but they're pretty damn good at what they do.

Honestly, thought I was watching Burnley at times tonight Cheesy.
1611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could inheriting Bitcoin from love ones be that difficult? on: May 28, 2022, 02:53:57 PM
The other family members don't even need to know. If you mix all your coins before you put them in to cold storage, then no one in your family will know how much you have. You could set up a small wallet to be distributed out between various people to keep them happy, and then have the bulk of your funds locked behind a timelocked transaction which only one person knows about. When the time comes, that person can claim the bulk of your stash without anyone else being any the wiser.
What I mean by that, is certain countries depending on where you live have certain laws to do with inheritance, which would still come under play with Bitcoin. Usually, a will or if a will hasn't been written up, next to kin which is usually the partner gets to decide how to distribute everything. I imagine, even if you did it this way, you'd still need a little legal help to make sure no one challenges it. That's my thoughts, although I have to admit I haven't gone through an inheritance, I just know it can become a sticky situation from friends that have gone through the process.

I don't think inheritance in Bitcoin avoids those legal issues.
1612  Other / Meta / Re: [Bitcointalk Party - Discord sv] Bitcoin Pizza bake-off contest! Enter by 29 May on: May 27, 2022, 08:06:29 PM
You get extra points if you include your recipes Wink. I don't think I've ever had sour cream on a pizza either, and there's a bunch of other toppings I haven't tried which some of you have included. Quite clearly, I'm uncultured, and need to wake up a little.

I like me some BBQ bases though, which I'm seeing a lack of?

If I am not mistaken the contest is a #bakeoff.
Yeah, more of a tongue in cheek joke from me.
1613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Final! on: May 27, 2022, 08:01:00 PM
Right, now that the teams news is in, i.e those that are out injured, and what not. I'm going with a 2-1 victory to Liverpool. I'm really hoping this doesn't go to extra time or penalities, I just haven't got the heart for that. Think Vinicius Jr will likely get a goal, because Trent pushes up high, so we'll be vulnerable on that side. However, our midfield is starting to look better with a few of the injured players now training, so I'm assuming they'll be fit. I think our midfield will be too much for them to handle.

Salah wants revenge, so I expect him to go on his little solo adventures, and potentially grab a goal for himself. Probably from outside the box, curling shot knowing him. I'm going to be very nervous about this game.
1614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could inheriting Bitcoin from love ones be that difficult? on: May 27, 2022, 01:36:28 PM
i want to believe that any member of a family who wish to leave anything down for his members will definitely find someone in the family to confide trust with on how to access his keys whenever time places such a need, the exception are those family members whose right and entitlement does not warrant accessing such key, in such case the user intentionally make it difficult to be accessed by the family, sometimes doesn't even want anyone to benefitted from such because of the relationship they had which does not warrant any benefits, I've personally see some people who made it in life all through by themselves without the help of any family and yet don't want to have anything do with then except for his children, wife may be exceptional in some cases.
You'd be surprised. While I haven't seen it in my family, I've seen other families get torn apart by financial stuff. I think it's partly the reason why the legal process of inheritance takes so long, and why it has somewhat high costs associated with it, and not just tax. Only takes one person in the family to challenge what the will/contract says, and you'd have to hash it out. Usually, as long as a legal representative can determine exactly what the contract says, usually you can't dispute too much of it.

I do think Bitcoin inheritance is a little better, since using the locking system reduces the fine print of what a contract would say. Although, I'm not if you would need to get it written down, and witness by a legal representative to prevent other family members from challenging it. Probably, worth consulting someone before doing it.

I've run out of merit, I hope you guys are happy Cheesy. Nah, in all seriousness, some tasty looking pizza's here, wouldn't mind popping in for some dinner. Our oven is currently out of service due to fitting in another, otherwise I would have attempted something this year, being a little less busy than last year. Wouldn't feel right ordering a domino's, and dressing it up all fancy Tongue.

It's my first time participating in the pizza day event. I had a lot of fun preparing it. It also tasted very delicious. Good luck to all participating friends.
I'm not picking favourites, however I think this one wins the most unique one. I've also never seen the toppings be placed under the cheese. Almost, like a ninja pizza that's disguised as a plain cheese, and then suddenly the flavours start hitting your tongue. Might steal this for the personal cookbook.
1616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A time people have been waiting for bitcoin to drop on: May 27, 2022, 12:26:25 PM
I'm loving the drop. Allows me to accumulate more Bitcoin, that I wouldn't have before. Since I'm in it for the long term, and to avoid trusting banks, I don't need the money I have saved up right now, and probably won't for the near future.

Most things in the UK are covered, like health related issues, so no additional unexpected costs, I'm debt free so that isn't a problem with the increasing interest rates. So, I'm just using this time to stack up more Bitcoin, and not too worried. I don't even check the prices of Bitcoin, and I've gone a fairly long time without. It's only now that I'm interested in what's going to happen with the looming recession I'm a little more up to date with the prices. Otherwise, the only time I see it is when it's posted here.

What I don't get is I know a few people who have been waiting for a moment like this, always talking how they'll invest if it takes a significant drop, and always talking about missing it years ago. Well, this is a pretty good opportunity to follow up on those words. You can see that the confidence around here has taken a hit, but there's plenty of us who are still remaining optimistic,  so optimistic that a lot of us aren't overly concerned at all.

Late last year when the bitcoin price was above $60k I often heard people say they would buy if the price dropped below $45k, then I saw again people would buy if the price was $30k and if we don't buy now then I'm sure tomorrow or the day after tomorrow the price will skyrocket again and we'll say the same thing as above.
Exactly. What people are saying it they wish they had the hindsight to invest at like 20 quid a pop. However, that's not going to happen, and they probably wouldn't have invested even if it was still that today.
1617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could inheriting Bitcoin from love ones be that difficult? on: May 27, 2022, 12:17:39 PM
here in the UK, inheritance of fiat is very difficult

with fiat all property, value, goes into 'probate' where its frozen and handled by an administrator/executor, who wants to check on death certificates and also search legal claims of wills and contracts. it is then organised and after a lengthy time then distributed.
you wont get access to funds the same day..
I'm not entirely sure, but as far as I know, you can cut out the solicitors to some degree. Your will could just say x decides the fate of the money. Then, the process is handed over to that person, who can then decide how its distributed to the family. I do believe if you don't have a will, the inheritance laws suggest that your civil partner will be the one to determine it.

however.. with bitcoin. you just need to have a private key stored somewhere. and then just a way to inform loved ones how to locate it. and its theirs...  family can have access to it within minutes of finding the private key. much more easy then wills , probate and 'executor's/administrators..
You would still be required to report it to the tax authorities, since every inheritance is subject to 20% tax I believe. So, it's not like you can just do it all yourself, and not involve another third party.

So, yeah while it probably is easier for escaping some of the fuss, still need to go through some legal processes.
1618  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: May 27, 2022, 12:03:13 PM
Let me know if you want me to put in a preorder for you. I’m sure we could work something out.  Grin

However, I’m sure some of these things will make their way across the pond for sale before a preorder made now would ever ship. I even question if someone placing a preorder now would ever receive one, given the amount of preorders made and their limited production ability.
Yeah, I'll have to keep everyone up to date on it. I'm trying to find out was it pulled because of limited production or was it pulled because of the extra laws in European, and UK countries. It seems that currently those that have pre ordered over here, haven't had an email telling them its cancelled, so in their mind they're still getting it.

Not sure if Tesla support will actually be able to answer the question, but I'll send over a email to them to find out.
1619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 27, 2022, 11:50:39 AM
Ah, that's just reminded me of that one night of cage grabs. Three different fights, multiple cage grabs, and only the one fighter was warned. I can't remember who it was now, but it left me infuriated at the time, his opponent basically held onto the cage, and remained on top from a sweep because of it. Nothing said, not even a warning.

Most eye pokes are accidental to be fair, so maybe worth not being so harsh on them despite them being quite dangerous. However, cage grabs should be punished you can't accidentally do it. Obviously, you can reach out instinctively, but still I'd class that as somewhat intentional as it usually helps the fighter from getting taken down. Even, if they don't take points, and make them reset with the fighter on top, that's not the greatest solution though.

Yeah, Pereira clearly won it IMO, but I gotta say his fights just aren't the same without some wild shit thrown in. I think he can do without the backflip thing he does.
Yeah, the backflip while they're on the ground is the one that annoys me the most. It doesn't look great, isn't effective, and well a bit pointless. The flips he does while closing space I'll be honest I have enjoyed at times, though he's opening himself up to get knocked out. Usually, when fighters try the wild stuff, they aren't closing space whereas Michel is the first fighter I've ever seen do it effectively.

Yeah, Pereira clearly won it IMO, but I gotta say his fights just aren't the same without some wild shit thrown in. I think he can do without the backflip thing he does. As entertaining as it is it's mostly useless and too reckless anyway but some of the other street-fighter moves he does wouldn't have gone amiss. The ones where he kinda runs onto the cage walls like Neo from the Matrix style and propels himself off usually seem to work and look cool too.

Fighters often do that when it goes the distance regardless of how the fight went to try signal that they thought they won it to the judges. If you walk off exhausted and defeated it could sway some judges so they gotta show the bravado of someone who is confident that they've won, but yeah, Rose lost that fight and that's the price you pay for trying to coast it and she deserved it.
Yeah, I know every fighter tries it on directly after the fight, but even in the post conference, and interviews she was acting like he did enough. To be honest like I said I personally don't think either did enough, and would've probably scored it 0-0 or 10-10 however they do it.
1620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 27, 2022, 11:42:06 AM
Don't quote me but Haaland will probably need a lot of time to get an established place. Reference Werner, Havertz, Pulisic, Lukaku, Sancho, etc.
I'm quoting you, but to back you up. Everyone, you can quote me on this Tongue. I genuinely believe while Haaland will be a good signing for City, he's going to take a bit of getting used to the Premier League, plus he's actually quite injury prone. Reminds me of Aguero in that sense. So, by no means do I think they'll storm the league without any challenge. They might do if we have a bad season, but it won't solely be down to signing Haaland.

Haaland when fit will likely bang them in, and be towards the top of that golden boot, however I still think he won't be the player to get those decisive goals. I do think his introduction will give all the players on the field a boost though.
