1381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should the physically challenged be exempted from bitcoin? on: July 01, 2022, 07:35:42 PM
Literally goes against the principles of Bitcoin. It is open to all, and will forever be open to all. Limiting people on such a unimportant factor (in relation to a currency) is just silly. We don't want to go backwards, we want to keep pushing onwards. Bitcoin already some restrictions in place, i.e to mine, and be at a profit you need an initial investment, that's not ideal since it does block a certain demographic.

I mean, Hal is seen as a pioneer around here, and well respected. What you're proposing or asking could've limited him due to the disease he developed, that wouldn't make sense at all.

Everyone should have access to Bitcoin, because quite frankly our fiat system already favours those that aren't disadvantaged enough.
1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has reached a point of no return on: July 01, 2022, 07:27:45 PM
Yeah, I'm never going to believe that. Even, if we're the mainstream currency. Also, I'm okay with that, if we can come up with something better than Bitcoin, I don't see the reason to be elitist about it, if it's better, it's better simple as that. I don't think so, as we can adapt Bitcoin has new ideas are thought of, but I'm not completely closed off to the idea.

No more chances to destroy or stop Bitcoin anyway. At this point, we just can expect adaption, not destroy. No one will miss Bitcoin mining till it has value. And value isn't going to ZERO anyway since it's backup by the world's largest community. Few countries already adopted Bitcoin and many are on the way. A lot of institutional investors have been investing. So I can't imagine Bitcoin will be destroyed.
I mean, we have plenty of things that will prove to be stumbling blocks. The main one for me is the complexity of Bitcoin, so while I do agree the longer that Bitcoin exists, and does well the more faith in it, and therefore adoption rates increase, and in a way your theory makes sense. However, I do think it'll definitely have a few threats, but more about impacting it instead of outright destroying it.
1383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Most Expensive Thing Bought with Winnings from the Casino or Sport Bet on: July 01, 2022, 07:23:35 PM
I haven't won massive amounts, but I tend to put it towards things. So, any trips I've got planned or pre planned, I end up putting it towards that. Like this year, I've got a trip planned for Oct-Nov, so recently won a little bit, and have just put it towards that. Obviously, I took some out for further betting on events, but that wasn't much at all.

The most expensive thing that I've bought with winnings from my sportsbook bet were a car for my girlfriend.
I've got to start listening to your advise on bets Tongue.
1384  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You can avoid most scams by simply keeping your private key/seed to yourself on: July 01, 2022, 07:19:47 PM
Most noncustodial wallet always has a disclaimer as a footnote that you're responsible for the security of your wallet. You shouldn't even give your seed phrase to your closest person not to talk of some shady websites asking for your seed phrase. Anyone who has a legitimate transaction to do with you will never ask for your seed phrase.
Yeah, most require you to enter your seed these days to confirm as well, and it's clearly stated you shouldn't be sharing if with anyone else. I think we've done all we can in terms of hand holding. I do have sympathy for those that fall for this type of mistake, but at the end of the day they know they'll be controlling their money, and they should adhere to all the warnings. The only times which these warnings aren't present is with web wallets, which unfortunately is a problem since most new users will sort of gravitate towards them.
1385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 01, 2022, 07:02:08 PM
Strickland must prove a KO win over Pereira so that if he fails he will be humiliated by his own ego during the pre-fight press conference. The big man had to win to show his abilities worthy of a candidate against Izzy.
I don't think that's happening. I mean, I wouldn't recommend his normal fighting style, as I think he gets knocked out. The best approach would be mixing it up, giving Alex the take down threat, so he isn't as loose on the feet. I don't know what's going to happen in the fight, I can see Strickland winning, however I don't think he'll get the knockout, he'll be playing it somewhat safe.

It'll be an interesting event, I'll be getting my predictions out. I'll be looking to bet a little more safe like I did the other week. I'm thinking a four fold accumulator which returns something like 2k.
1386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 01, 2022, 06:45:16 PM
while neighbors are celebrating Salah staying, we let go Richarlison to Tottenham, and that is a sign that next season could be as bad as this one
and there is no Burnley to save us this year, but hopefully Fulham will be there to relegate instead

nevertheless, for me it seems that City will dominate next season in Premier, but CL will be their headache again
Damn. That's a tough pill to swallow, while I don't like how the man plays, and his attitude when he plays against us. He was your best player I'd say. At least, what was left after Rafa. That's unfortunate, that he'll still be in the Premier League though, I expect more of the same shithousery that he did in Everton against us.

I don't think City will dominate, we have strengthened, and while City will be favourites I do expect us to be up there somewhere making it at least competitive.
1387  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto tax UK ? on: July 01, 2022, 06:33:28 PM
Being from UK , how much are we taxed when we cash out our profits and how do we go about paying this tax?
Capital gains if you've generated money from what you've earned. So, it'll be something like profit - investment = x, then they take a percentage off that profit. So, I think its 20%, don't quote me on that as I haven't looked it up.

Obviously, goes without saying, this isn't financial advise, but generally that's how its done. Income is taxed different, well it's still 20% or whatever the changes were recently with the tax. I haven't sat down yet, and looked at it. I've just sent my records off to my accountant, but will wait until I get the documents back to actually break it down.

My advise is either look up on the government website, HMRC, and do a self assessment once you've understood everything or pay an accountant 100-200 to do it for yourself, and have piece of mind.

Here's a good website: https://listentotaxman.com/ again not to be relied on, but can give you a idea of the breakdown. Although, isn't as useful for capital gains tax, mainly income tax.

My salary is £30,500.

If I was to cash out £50,000 profit for example , what would the total tax be I have to pay?

(If too confusing or long don't worry about it)
You're in the first tax bracket with that wage, i.e not the 40% or 50%. It increases above 51k off the top of my head. Again, ballpark figures, check these for yourself, but it's around that amount, not exact. If you had £50,000 profit on top of your salary, you'd be reaching into the higher tax bracket, and therefore would be paying more tax on anything over that threshold.

£30,000 + £40,000 - £12,300 = £57,700. This is above £50,270 which means the rate applicable to your capital gains is 20%.

Capital Gains Tax:
£40,000 - £12,300 = £27,700
£27,700 * 20% = £5,540

Once again, I suggest that you consult an accountant. Taxation can be complicated and you could miss other details that affects the computation. Even my example could be inaccurate.
I do believe you can take away to initial investment, so £4,000 in the example provided. Since, you only get taxed on profit, so worth putting that into the calculations. Although, again not 100% on that, since I let my accountant do all the number crunching, as I find it easier, and just more peace of mind.
1388  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You can avoid most scams by simply keeping your private key/seed to yourself on: July 01, 2022, 06:20:29 PM
There's no situation where you should be giving your private key or seed anyway. However, storing that isn't as simple as people might think. I do see a lot of users claiming they store it digitally, for me that isn't the best way to go about it, especially if that computer is or has been online, this includes USBs etc.

So, yeah I think this goes without saying for the majority of people. Software already warns you not to share your seed or private key with anyone. So, most people will be made aware of it.

1389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 01, 2022, 05:37:23 PM
Are you guys celebrating somewhere? Just read that Salah signed a new deal with Liverpool and since you guys aren't writing about it I guess you must be celebrating.

Good move from LFC to secure Salah, especially now that Mane left. New guys shiuld bring plenty of pace and explosivness to the attack as well. Should be another neck to neck battle with City for first spot. Don't see anybody else challenging them.
Trofo is now my number one rated journalist. Who would've thought I'd hear this type of news from Trofo themselves. I usually take a break from football, all the transfer speculation, since Liverpool usually get their business done early, and I honestly wasn't expecting any more transfers, and I certainly wasn't expecting Salah to sign yet.

Thought it would be next season. What brilliant news. Anyway, when are we putting in payments for the new season? It's like six week away isn't it? I need to fill in all my predictions in advance Cheesy.
1390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: July 01, 2022, 05:34:27 PM
I mean, Joshua isn't the usual boxer. He isn't going to outbox Usyk. However, he can definitely knock his head off. I've said it before, but Joshua since that first Ruiz fight isn't the same boxer. Joshua used to be quite scary in those brawls, and the last time he looked like that was when he got caught by Ruiz, and ultimately finished.

He avoids those sort of gun fights now, and looks to keep the distance, and use his reach advantage, but that doesn't work when your opponent knows how to get in on the inside. Ruiz the second time didn't, probably because it looked like he lost all motivation after achieving something he probably thought was out of reach. He was noticeably larger, and didn't have that same determination to close the gap.

Usyk will, and did last time. The thing is he's also quite a light heavy weight, and can pop in, sting you, and then get back out again. Joshua hasn't got the distance management or the skill set to stop that from happening, at least if we are to judge it based on the times he has tried to box rather than knock out his opponent.

I'm hoping Joshua goes back to his roots, and looks to take his head off, as that'll make a interesting fight. Otherwise, we're just going to see more of the same as the last fight.
1391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Had you ever x10,000? on: July 01, 2022, 05:30:27 PM
Back to topic, never in my entire dice game experience or slots to hit that kind of multipliers. Regardless of the amount involved, it's so rare to hit that multiplier.

Because of this post, I remember having a bankroll investment on that site way back several years ago. I don't remember how many figures I'm talking about here but I will have a look at them later on.
Which is why when these sort of multipliers hit, they're usually by users that are betting with many small amounts. I'm not all that familiar with the site myself, so not sure if they have any limits in place to prevent you from earning a tonne of money, but even hitting that with a dollar would be pretty sweet.

I prefer sports betting, which you'll never again near these types of odds even if you put on one of the longest accumulators that you can imagine. Slots, and games which have a built in house edge have just never interested me.
1392  Economy / Reputation / Re: My fears about forum trust system. on: July 01, 2022, 05:18:06 PM
While you're right, technically the trust system has been somewhat moderated in the past, where theymos deemed necessary. Usually, with accounts abusing it, by leaving like a million different feedbacks etc. Other than that, you're right.

I added you to my trust list a few weeks ago. But, You are a DT1 member already. Does it make any change on it? I mean, What if you get more votes from members? I guess there are some changes in rank?
Despite what others have said about it not counting for much in the grand scheme of things, I wouldn't take that into consideration, since it's your personal trust list. By putting someone in your trust list, you see their trust ratings in the trusted section, and if they're particularly active in the marketplace, they should be leaving quite a bit of them. Which directly benefits you as a warning.

Although, if you were to ever rise through the ranks yourself, then it will serve a purpose beyond your own personal reasons.
1393  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming way of creating threads on: July 01, 2022, 05:12:35 PM
To be very honest, we have sections like off-topic and Politics & Society where we can discuss this stuff while remaining on the bitcoin forum.
If the OP had only one thread, i am sure no one would have deleted that topic and there would have been people replying to the OP. However, since he was spamming his links by creating multiple similar threads, he got nuked with all his threads deleted.
Right, the account wasn't nuked for the type of content being posted, i.e what others might consider as a load of rubbish, it was more about the way they were doing it. Advertising, and then spamming a number of threads in close succession, with the sole aim to advertise. I didn't have a problem with the topics at hand, from a moderation point of view.

I do think these types of topics create a divide in the community, based on the believability factor, absolutely wasn't taken into consideration when the threads were first removed or when the account was finally nuked.
1394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 01, 2022, 05:07:08 PM
Did anybody watch the pre fight press conference?  Watch it if you haven't and wait for Sean Strickland and Adesanya have a little back and forth at each other.  It is hilaaarious.  Strickland owned Adesanya's ass and it was sooo funny.  Omg, I hope those two get to face each other in a couple of years.

Strickland was just being funny and was keeping it real.  And you guys know how Adesanya gets cringey sometimes...  Cheesy  He had nothing on Strickland.
I wasn't really that interested in a Strickland vs Izzy fight until this. I can't remember Strickland being that good on the mic either. Don't get me wrong, he's no Mcgregor, but it was refreshing to hear from the normal things he says. Especially, since it's usually Izzy with a bit of flair, and styling on his opponents.

Honestly, if that fight were to happen, I think Izzy absolutely schools him. I don't really see much of a path to victory for Strickland in that fight. I'm not even sure he'll get past Alex.
1395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 01, 2022, 02:40:50 PM
I’m thinking about throwing up a parlay with Izzy and Sugar. I like both fighters and they seem to be favorites judging from the gambling odds. I don’t usually throw down UFC bets, but I think I may watch this event because I like to see Sugar fight and Izzy is a Stake guy. Not the greatest win potential as far as reward, but you gotta go with your guys.
True, always feel weird betting against my favourites, hence why it feels a little weird to not go with Izzy. Although, I'm not much of a fan of O'Malley, and I do think he's very beatable. At times I think there's been questions about his heart when the going gets tough. Plus, he has a tough opponent ahead of him.

Whatever the outcome I'll be interested to see how he does. Probably one of his hardest opponents to date? I actually think he'll look to sit behind the jab, keep the distance, and therefore keep the power shots, and take downs to a minium, and just look to out score his opponent. However, I'm not willing to bet money on that.
1396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today is the day on: June 30, 2022, 10:49:33 PM
even some influencers who are active when bitcoin is rising, but when the dump they are also silent .
Really? I find infulencers for the most part, just follow the current trend. That's basically their job, they try to make viral content, to get as many eyes on them as possible. So, them riding the wave whether Bitcoin is going up or down makes sense, and I do believe from what I've seen they're doing this.

It's almost trendy, to talk negative of Bitcoin when it's at the lower end of its recent prices, and then to bull it up when it's on the rise. At the end of the day everything a infulencer says, needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. This goes for your infulencers like Elon Musk, as he also proved to have this sort of mentality in the past.
1397  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone bought Bitcoin/altcoins already? on: June 30, 2022, 10:21:26 PM
Not bothered all that much with the price at the moment. In the long term, sure. Right now, I'm happy accumulating as much as possible, before the next halving. I'll then likely evaluate the situation again then. Until then though, I don't even check the price. The only times I actually get to know the price is through threads on the forum. Other than that, I don't check unless I'm making a payment, which these days has significantly declined.

Everyone wants the market to go up because only then will the estimated value of their investment increase.
I must be the odd one out then. Nah, the logic is sound obviously, but I think that's just scratching the surface. If you're invested in Bitcoin for the long term, I'd deem long term 5+ years at the moment, or at the very least beyond the next halving, I'd say most people would benefit from accumulating as much as they can.
1398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reasons why people avoid KYC in gambling casino ? on: June 30, 2022, 10:16:22 PM
1. It is not really necessary until you hit a jackpot.
2. Lots of instances wherein services and platforms sell personal information on black markets.
3. Doesn't really affect your profile on platforms you submit KYC to.
Right, so firstly I'd somewhat agree with your first point. I guess KYC is used to determine if the user is legitimate, and in a fiat gambling website it almost makes sense, since you can somewhat do a background check if you suspect they're laundering money on your platform. I do somewhat get that, but ultimately there's better ways than a gambling site, so I never really got that argument when it's presented.

Secondly, honestly the only counter argument I have to this is if you don't trust the company to hold your personal information, you probably shouldn't be using their platform at all. Since, they might screw you in other ways, but also could be collecting information without you knowing, and cross checking it with information they've got from elsewhere.

I'm not too sure what you mean with your last point?
1399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 30, 2022, 09:58:59 PM
Just trying to spice things up at the top guys Tongue. I say taking down Izzy is the path to victory, but as he proves time, and time again he's pretty damn good at preventing them. Plus, obviously due to his striking he can keep the distance.

Alright, so if everyone is thinking a Izzy win, are we going for the stoppage or decision win? I won't be betting on a straight win for Izzy, that much is for sure.

I might also be going with Volk. Having a look at their recent tapes again, and refreshing my memory. Volk has definitely improved since they last fought. By quite some bit.
1400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Tommy Fury / Amanda Serrano co-main event in August on: June 30, 2022, 07:58:48 PM
I can't help, but think this is to build the fight a little more? I wouldn't have thought a professional boxer, and especially on this sort of stage wouldn't be able to get a visa. I know there's been speculation with the Fury family, and who they associate effecting their entry status, but I wasn't aware that extended to Tommy.

At first I was hearing that Tommy didn't want to fight, because his dad couldn't enter the US. However, we all knew that. He hasn't been able to enter the US for as long as I can remember. I believe it was related to a eye gouging incident, and therefore a criminal conviction. Now, we're hearing that Tommy is struggling to get one.

I just feel it's a marketing scheme rather than any truth behind it.

It is somewhat being billed as the first real fight between Jake Paul and an actual boxer.  Being honest, I have no idea what to expect.  Jake has surprised everyone with every fight, so maybe he'll keep that momentum going.
To me, I actually think this is the only fight, and perhaps the Youtube boxing events before it, where Jake probably wouldn't surprise all that many people by winning. Tommy certainly isn't anything special when it comes to boxing, obviously a professional, and therefore somewhat decent, but his career hasn't exactly taken anyone off guard. Especially, considering the calibre of his opponents, and the performances he has put in against them.
