1521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 10, 2022, 09:39:45 PM
I'm hearing that Darwin Nunes is a done deal with Manchester United, and other big clubs out of the picture? Well, I'll be honest hearing the Haaland news, then the uncertainty with Salah, and them compounding on top of that learning that Mane is likely to leave, probably at a fee that I don't deem acceptable. As well, as Origi leaving. I honestly, wasn't looking forward to competing with City, but this news gets me excited again, and I'm all ready for the new season.

Klopp really did turn us fans into believers, any signing he makes, no matter the amount I don't question it. The only mistakes he has made would be Karius, but I believe that was mainly due to factors out of his control, for example confidence issues, which were pretty much made permanent due to that final against Madrid.
1522  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Crossword on: June 10, 2022, 09:34:41 PM
handsome_latino, would you by chance be tracking how many users visited during the puzzle, and immediately after, say two days later? I'm wondering if this would be viable as a educational bit, and just something done for monetary reward. I do understand that the monetary reward would generate most of the traffic, but I think we might be underestimating something simple like this that could potentially change a lot of people's perspectives on Bitcoin, as well as encourage existing users to learn new stuff about Bitcoin.

Something that the Bitcoin community lacks I think, putting challenges in front of users, that actually teach them useful skills.

See the stickied threads on the Meta section (where this thread is located). That'll tell you all you need to know to avoid getting into trouble with the moderators (I've heard they aren't that bad though).

Mprep's unofficial rules are probably your go to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

Any questions, use the search function on the forum or use:
Code:
 site:bitcointalk.org

And, then your question on Google or whatever your search engine is. For example: site:bitcointalk.org rules & guidelines. Depending how good your search engine is, it'll bring you right to that link above, as the top result.

If all that fails, don't be afraid to ask the question here in Meta, as long as it's forum related. Otherwise, find the appropriate section to ask your question.
1524  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Questions about signature campaign and its rules. on: June 10, 2022, 09:21:00 PM
Signature campaigns are effective, as with any advertisement. For example, name me the services that have signature campaigns right now. I bet the highest paying ones came into your mind first, and you know exactly what service they offer. That's effective marketing.

I've received messages of newer users asking about the service I've advertised in my signature. It works. I mean, I could probably name you all the obsolete signatures over the last five years, so even if they aren't still operating, they've imprinted themselves into my brain.

Even if a user hasn't registered the advertisement consciously, next time they need that type of service, it'll likely get pinged in their mind. That's the beauty of marketing. You'll also see signature campaigns have a trial period, and a lot of them maybe even the majority of them continue longer than that initial period, that probably tells you all you need to know on how it's effecting their numbers.

As for the other questions, I mean they're hiring you for a job, they know their target audience, and they pick who, and where their advertisement gets seen.
1525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC goes below 30k after US inflation rate reports on: June 10, 2022, 08:28:25 PM
Remember that correlation doesn't equal correlation, and quite frankly when you're looking at data like this, with such a small time frame it's almost impossible to take anything conclusive from it, even ignoring the above phrase.

I don't think it will have much a short or long term impact on the price of Bitcoin. At the end of the day Bitcoin is its own currency, and doesn't depend on USD. However, the higher inflation rates rise, the more people who will be looking for alternatives, and Bitcoin will be at the top of the list.
1526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Football Club on: June 10, 2022, 06:12:23 PM
Can I just save up enough Bitcoin, and just buy Liverpool instead? Won't need to replace anyone, just keep the existing personal. They look to be signing Darwin Nunes so I'd be sorted for a few years.

I know I'm bias, but I can't believe you've got Trent in your backup team, and not your first team Tongue. Trent's easily the best right back in the world, and I won't listen to any counter arguments to that Cheesy. Don't get me wrong, James is a good player, but he isn't Trent good.
1527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 10, 2022, 05:58:31 PM
Right, I've got my predictions after mulling it over a little bit. Again, I'll probably be betting slightly different to my predictions, but most will be the same this time. Probably going to do a eight fold accumulator, as I'm not really fancying this event.

Here's the predictions:
Glover Teixeira via decision (part of accumulator)
Valentina Shevchenko via decision (part of accumulator)
Weili Zhang (part of accumulator)
Jake matthews (part of accumulator)
Ramazan Emeev
Seung Woo Choi
Steve Garcia
Brendan Allen (part of accumulator)
Batgerel Danaa
Na Liang
Joselyne Edwards

1528  Economy / Economics / Re: The world economy is in recession on: June 10, 2022, 05:12:01 PM
At least for the United States, we are not in a true recession yet..
You could argue that most of the world never recovered from the great depression, and therefore we're still in a recession. However, that might be a bit too far fetched for a few people, so instead I'd point out that "yet" is rather telling. Much of the world will be a recession, and at this point it's unavoidable. It's not whether we will be in one, it's when, and for how long will we be feeling the effects.

I've been predicting a recession that was beyond any previous recessions we've experienced, due to recent unprecedented events. The only comparable one will be the great depression.
1529  Economy / Economics / Re: Crashes are The Best Times to Get Rich - Robert Kiyosaki on: June 10, 2022, 04:30:47 PM
It's the far better option for most people regardless if it's a bear market or a bull market. Timing markets wrecks inexperienced people, which is pretty much a huge majority of people.
I guess that's only really applicable if they're trading, rather than holding. Well, at least up to this point it would've been. Obviously, history isn't guaranteed to repeat itself. However, I should think that most of us on here, have greater sights in mind when it comes to price, at least for the long term.

So, crashes technically are the best time to accumulate as much as possible, and then holding for long term looks like a high likelihood of profiting. It's whether or not you can weather the storms in between.
1530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC Fight Night & Main Event: Sportsbet.io Predictions & discussion on: June 10, 2022, 01:41:52 PM
Santos I think has the greatest chance to win as the heavy underdog on the card for the UFC #275 main events in Singapore.
I actually think Jake Matthews is the one to look out for. Think he might get a decision win, if he can avoid the heavy hands of Fialho. 3.10 odds, so not massive odds, but a underdog no less. Potentially even the main event, Glover getting a decision win? Could be on the cards I think, and that's at 8.00.

The fight Shevchenko - Santos will be interesting to watch, Shevchenko dominates in her division, and the odds of 1.12 for her victory suggests that Santos does not have much chance. Santos is younger and more energetic, but Shevchenko is a very accurate fighter, she can simply keep Santos away from her and work at a distance. Look who Santos defeated by knockout, there are fighters who had a few victories in total... For me, Shevchenko's victory is obvious here, and I admit that this will be an early end to the fight.
Not worth the odds, even though I expect a dominant performance from Shevchenko. I might include a decision win, which has decent odds at 2.20. I could see a finish in this fight, but I think Santos is too tough, and Shev is way too good to get finished here. Not awesome odds either way, I mean if you went for a Santos decision or finish you'd be looking at 10.00 odds, I just can't see it happening personally.
1531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minor Protection From Gambling on: June 10, 2022, 01:33:32 PM
I know that the general consensus on this forum is that KYC is bad, but this is one of the examples where it works. I'm not entirely against KYC, however I do think we should be looking at alternatives whenever possible, to avoid compromising legitimate user privacy.

I'm not sure the best way here, I guess it would be only allowing a valid credit card, since they usually have to be opened up via a adult. I guess, the only issue is knowing that the credit card was legitimately opened, but shouldn't that be a credit card issuer, issue rather than a gambling company?

I'd rather give my details to a bank that issues the card, than to the gambling company direct. They could potentially even open up communications towards the banks, and get confirmation that it's legitimately owned by a adult, and therefore you wouldn't need to compromise your privacy on two places, only one.
1532  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Generating wallet on custodial exchanges is what you should avoid on: June 10, 2022, 01:15:30 PM
software like electrum or bitcoin core though - you're probably better off using one of them
Right, I think everyone that has access to either of the two, and learns how to verify the software should be using them over every other piece of software out there. They're tested, and proven to work. They're widely compatible, and personally I don't feel comfortable recommending any other software to newbies, that has the potential to either compromise their Bitcoin due to not being open source, and custodial, but also through compatibility issues. Newbies aren't necessarily going to understand the compatibility issues that they might face using other software, therefore it's always best to recommend the fool proof way.

At first it might be daunting verifying software, but the sooner you do it, the better. Plus, you'll probably want to reinstall your operating system, and everything else then just so you can verify they came from legitimate sources, and remained unchanged.
1533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There too much information about btc on: June 10, 2022, 01:07:08 PM
None of the things you listed here were "information about btc"! They are either fake news, FUD or at best they are exaggeration of a situation like the nonsense about EU. It is not new either, ever since bitcoin started to grow which is probably about 11 years ago, certain groups have been feeling increasingly scared which is why they have been filling the internet with propaganda.
Honestly, while we do have propaganda going around, that much is obvious. I do think that a portion, probably a large portion of the news circulating out there is written by journalists which simply don't understand Bitcoin enough, to truly understand why it holds merit.

Unfortunately, they don't want to admit that, and then try push their ideas onto their readers, knowing full well they don't understand it. Sure, at times they might have put the effort into reading, and trying to understand it, but don't quite grasp it, that's fair enough. However, I do believe the majority of them are either pumping the propaganda machine out of fear or lack of understanding.
1534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miners say NY ban will be ineffective and 'isolate' the state on: June 10, 2022, 12:36:35 PM
The land price in NY is one of the costliests in the world. So I doubt if NY houses any big miner. If they are forced out of NY, that will be blessing in disguise for the miners. They can simply move to Texas and probably expand their mining operations to a great extent.

But the concern here is that it will probably force some other states to take such decision if the governor of those states are not crypto friendly. It's always difficult to take the first step but the others steps just follow the first one. I am afraid that shouldn't become a trend in US.
Exactly what I was thinking. Mining margins are already thin with the average cost of electric, and the miners themselves. Let alone, factoring in running those miners in or around a city/state like New York. I guess the out skirts of the city itself, probably is more affordable, but the city will have massive electricity charges just like any major city.

This probably isn't going to effect too many smaller miners either, since the margins probably wasn't worth it in the beginning. Although, this does signal one of the first steps of doing this sort of regulation, and likely other countries, and states of the US will follow suit.
1535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots is More Likely to Cause Gambling Problem on: June 10, 2022, 12:18:36 PM
See, I've never been one for slot machines. I don't know, I like to enjoy a game of football, knowing I've got a bet running on it too. Even with teams I wouldn't ordinarily be interested in, I find it more enjoyable. Slots, you're basically doing the same thing over, and over. Whereas, at least with sports betting there's many variables despite that, you can also tip the house edge, because there isn't any, so you're sort of more in control. Plus, slots you can spend a lot of money in a quick amount of time due to how basic it is, football games or sport games usually take at least a bit out of your day, you you aren't losing as much money as quick.

I'm still surprised though, I honestly thought sports betting would be the most addicted, what's more addicting than watching the team you support win, and win you money?
1536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin is set with the launch of Bitcoin academy in Brooklyn? on: June 10, 2022, 10:43:31 AM
Lol what do you mean? Educational content like this are undoubtedly great, but how does it "set" Bitcoin's future? Whatever you meant by it.
It doesn't. Although, if you want to put bums on feet, you probably are going to write up sensationalist titles like this. That's the way of the world unfortunately.

On another note — while this is getting positive attention from the Bitcoin/crypto community, a lot of the masses are definitely not happy with this. They're so mad as if Jay-Z and Dorsey are asking money for this. https://twitter.com/sc/status/1534921133199347712
Yeah, anything that anyone tries to do is always faced with criticism by someone. You can't please everyone. I'm rather neutral, I think the event isn't going to be much bigger than the ones that came before it.
1537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 10, 2022, 09:50:27 AM
Zhang seem not learning what she got though. She relied mostly to her strength, there is no doubt she is strong but with versatile Namajunas, Zhang doesn't know how to deal.
Nunes also getting beat was a bit of a surprise. It's a fight at the end of the day, and as much as the odds can differ at times, there isn't a great deal of difference between the elite. Nunes did disprove that for a while, but ultimately it caught up with her. I'm wondering when Val will be subjected to that. I don't think she's quite there yet, and seems to have a winners attitude, while not being complacent, which I think Nunes had a lot of lifestyle changes, like becoming a mother etc.
1538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 10, 2022, 12:12:54 AM
I can bet with anyone that fight won't last all five rounds, and I think this could be best safe bet we can make on this fight card.
Main event is interesting, but I think we are underestimating other great fights between ladies,  Weili Zhang needs a win after two defeats from Rose Namajunas, and Joanna needs payback for last defeat from Zhang.
Valentina Shevchenko is always fun to watch and Taila Santos has only one defeat in her MMA carrier but winning here would be sensational.
One thing I am missing in this fight card is some heavyweight fight, but we do have light heavyweights.

I don't know, it's always the ones which you think will end up in a finish that don't. If I didn't put accumulators on so often, I could've made some big money betting heavyweights would go the distance. I mean not long ago some people were brave enough to put the bet on Ngannou to win by decision, not me though Cheesy. That sounded absurd prior to them fighting, but he did it. Gane, who was considered much better at foot work, and technical striking.
1539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 08, 2022, 11:20:40 PM
I think Glover Teixeira has a decent chance to win in this fight if he manages to exploit some of many flaws in Prochazka style laws.
Odds on him are very good as underdog but I can't put my hand in fire and say he will win for sure.
Prochazka losing here could be good for him because he quickly got a title shot in my opinion, and he needs to improve in many areas.
I hope Glover will teach him a lesson this time, and I certainly don't expect to see all five rounds in his main event.
Absolutely the best chance for Jiri though. Going up against a old experienced fighter has its drawbacks, but Teixeira definitely isn't at his best, and for a younger fighter you'll want to exploit that. Might be worth Jiri looking to exhaust Teixeira in the first few rounds, before turning the heat up late into the fight.

Not sure we'll see a finish, might be worth looking at the decision lines.
1540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I saved myself from missing a Presentation with Bitcoin on: June 08, 2022, 10:28:51 PM
Great story Op, but you should also be careful and not let frustration always lead you into revealing to everyone stranger you come across that you have bitcoins in your possession, for safety reasons so you don't get mugged.
I mean, because you have Bitcoin doesn't mean you're a millionaire or even wealthy, therefore everyone assumes you have cash on you, so telling them you have Bitcoin instead isn't exactly much more threat. You could argue less so, since cash can be physically stolen, but your Bitcoin should be locked up, to at least provide some other sort of resistance.

While, you probably shouldn't go flaunting around how much you own, and how wealthy you're, simply saying you have Bitcoin isn't a problem at all.
