a bank account with them that has a good interest rate.
Which are quickly becoming obsolete. I mean they've never been great, but more, and more bank accounts are now either turning to offering no interest rate at all or comically low compared to past times. The bank I was with a few years ago recently within the last two years announced they will no longer offer interest rates on certain accounts. I imagine they only offer them to saving accounts, and premium accounts that you have to pay monthly for.

There's also the challenger banks which usually don't offer any interest rates on their current accounts, unless you lock your funds in a "pod" or something along those lines. So, to further your point, fiat is quickly becoming a investment people should be running from, especially since it's a well known fact you'll basically get less for your money as time goes on because of inflation.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the current Epoch look either. Maybe I will just have to get used to it.
My only wish is that we could get at least a responsive design for the forum, as it is really difficult to use the current version on mobile devices.

I'm usually function over fashion though, and I do appreciate the direction of the extra functionality. SMF is really showing its age in terms of functionality. While it's decent, and we've got quite a bit of custom functionality added to it, it's written in PHP which is notoriously annoying to do anything with. PHP is quickly becoming redundant as developers look to alternatives which basically just simplify, and therefore increase productivity. So, I will admit we will likely have to move on at some point, and that will be met with some reluctance, but if we want to further the forum, and continue adding things as time goes on, it'll be necessary.

I imagine that was one of the main motivations for theymos. PHP is annoying, and they likely have plans which are quite difficult to achieve without breaking a ton of things.
1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD Has Finally Taken Its Toll on Me on: July 15, 2022, 10:13:13 PM
I've invested tens of thousands of dollars in BTC and other crypto assets over the years, and will HODL for life, even if it means going down with the ship. It's a risk I am willing to assume. The reason I created this thread is because I'm having second thoughts about assuming additional risk. But I'm OK with the risk I've already taken.
In that case, I say that's fair enough. Everyone knows their limits, and while you might be a die hard Bitcoin supporter, it doesn't mean you have to be completely invested in Bitcoin. Honestly, I doubt most users here are fully committed. It takes a special type of attitude to be fully committed.

I still rely on fiat, my job pays me in fiat, and I don't always convert it either. That's the reality for most users here I would think. I wouldn't listen to the elitist attitude that Bitcoin is always better, while it might be true for someone else, it doesn't mean it suits your specific circumstance.
1284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The number of hodlers on: July 15, 2022, 10:10:08 PM
look at the answers and votes, majority says they HODL but we can see at the bitcoin price movement that there are majority that sells instead of holding , I myself HODL but Sell some bitcoin also for my own safety .
at least if the price continues to fell then i have funds to buy more bitcoin or at least i have budget in times of emergency needed of funds,
That's hard to determine. However, I would say that a lot more people are holding on this dip, than the ones previous to it, which kind of suggests there's a little more faith in Bitcoin this time around. The only difference with this one is we'll be battling a recession alongside it, so Bitcoin might not return to previous highs for a while, which could hurt that confidence in the long run.

Honestly, I don't see us recovering this year, and probably not even next year. People will be too worried about living costs than investing their money, or using a alternative currency which has hit a bit of a dip.
1285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 15, 2022, 09:31:36 PM
I'll probably get my predictions out tomorrow, but I think the bet I'll be placing will be the following:

- Jack Shore to win by decision
- Miesha Tate by decision
- Waterson vs Lemos to go the distance
- Jessica Penne vs Emily Ducote to go the distance

That four fold accumulator returns 12.96. I'm not sure if putting Ortega on it for a bit more return is worth the risk. I expect a rather close main event. However, I'm feeling quite confident on the above. I might consider going for a Waterson by decision to buff up that return also.
1286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This clearly damage the gambling. on: July 15, 2022, 08:05:58 PM
Therefore, betting on matches in the lower leagues is very risky. I haven't been doing this for a long time, because it's a pure lottery. In many countries, such behavior would be punishable by a huge penalty for the players and an even greater penalty for the club. Hopefully the same will happen in this case.
Even in the higher leagues of a sport have been known for match fixing. Take the Premier League as an example, Sturridge was investigated for match fixing, and I believe even banned for it. I'm sure his ban expired in January, it was at least six months. So, whether actually guilty or not, there's been accusations made, which were considered valid enough to ban for a period of time, even if the final decision was that the player was innocent.

Also, I'm absolutely sure I've seen certain boxers take a dive. There's one that sticks in my mind, but he wasn't a big name so can't remember who it was, but the replay basically showed his opponent missing, and him curling over in pain.

There was also a fight Ricky Hatton's son fought, which he basically lost every round, and I don't know how anyone else could see it differently, but ended up winning the decision. There's also the Wilder vs Fury fight, which the decision for a draw was absolutely crazy.

In fact, home advantage in boxing is considered pretty big even with commentators saying you have to do put a statement out there if you want to win away from your home country/town.
1287  Other / Meta / Re: How Would You Make Bitcointalk Better If You Were The Boss ? on: July 15, 2022, 08:01:19 PM
Speaking of which, do you know how long we'll be stuck with the current forum software? It's really outdated by today's standards.
What happened to Epochtalk? Why haven't we had any updates for ages?

I have no idea. I don't think there's been any official announcement publicly or privately to staff users. There might be some staff that are more in the know than others, but as far as I can gather most are out of the loop. I've approached it with the attitude that it'll happen when it happens. Like I've said, I'm not all that keen on the change, since I've come rather accustomed to Simple Machine Forums.

Plus, I'm generally not a fan of the more modern type websites, and from what I've seen so far I like the additional functionality considerations, but the look of the Epoch I'm hoping changes when we do change over to it. I guess there's always custom CSS.
1288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD Has Finally Taken Its Toll on Me on: July 15, 2022, 07:56:32 PM
Whenever you have your doubts, take a look at the positives that Bitcoin bring, and see if they're important to you, more than profit alone. For example, removing the issue of relying on a third party I think is vital. I don't like to have some bank handle all my money, and feel unsafe doing so. Even though, in the UK our money is guaranteed up to a certain point. There's also the issue of them blocking transactions whenever they feel like.

This is ultimately a decision we all have to make, and weight the benefits or the negatives. What conclusion we'll come to will wildly differ. However, until Bitcoin ceases to exist, there will be people that use it. Sure, curb your investment if you think there's a possibility of Bitcoin being banned, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend not using it at all if it's still important to you.

For me Adesanya was a spectacular fight, as many of us think, the winner Adesanya is showing that he has improved a lot in his technique and is showing it in his way of fighting, it is not very common to see fighters like this, despite the Cannonier's entry I must admit, I liked it a lot, I could also see that this time Adesanya used his arms a little more, a style more focused on boxing, it's not bad at all, it is known in advance that boxers have a more particular style and that can be the origin of winning a fight, the good blows and the technique that he used seemed impeccable to me, not perfect but impeccable.
I don't think his style has changed all that much, except for being more cautious, which he has a right to be. Holding onto that belt, and getting the win is the only thing that's on his mind, and that's what gets him paid. I have seen speculation that pay per view buys have been going down on Izzy fights, not sure if that's reliable, and also don't know if that's because of his adjustment while being champ.

Although, he's a bit hard to understand, as he moved up a weight, and took the risk of a clean record. So, he isn't overly cautious, just in his style of fighting. Against Romero, and a little earlier in his career he definitely took more risks.
1290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 15, 2022, 05:04:16 PM
Yeah, I'm still undecided on Nunez, although I have high hopes.

Are you implying that Salah is a bitter loser? No player with sportsmanship would object to his club congratulating a teammate, and Salah should have been the first to congratulate Mane. Nothing like managing morale; it's more like respecting Salah more. It's all over now.
I don't know, I don't know him personally Tongue. Although, it was quite obviously effecting his performance. Salah wasn't the same player that he was going into that tournament, which I think most can agree on. Whether it was a natural dip in form or because of the result, I don't know for sure.

I do think managing morale is important, and that works both ways. Although, I do find it hard to believe that Mane wasn't supported, since Klopp is known to be close to his players, and also has great man management skills.

1291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: lost HW-wallet: is importing the 12word enough? on: July 15, 2022, 04:10:20 PM
This. Unlikely that someone could access your funds (unless you set up a really dumb pin like 0000/1111/1234), but juuust to be extra sure. You create a fresh wallet on a fresh hardware wallet just so you can sleep better knowing that your wallet won't be cracked.
It's the basic principle; if you're at all in doubt of anything when it comes to security, make sure that it's right, so you don't pay the price. You can never really go over kill in terms of security at least for piece of mind. I've done this many of times, when realistically it wasn't ever going to get compromised.

This is ideally the mindset you should've if you're looking after your own coins. There aren't any safety nets like with traditional money, i.e banks.
1292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fixes everything - how does it fix Pharma? on: July 15, 2022, 04:08:04 PM
Bitcoin doesn't even solve every economical problem, let alone solving things outside of its focus. I know users here, and generally a lot of hype jobs like to talk about how Bitcoin is the next coming of Jesus, but really it isn't. It's a solution to some of the problems that we have with the current money system, but it's by no means a cure of everything. Bitcoin also introduces some problems, which have been discussed at length over recent years.

I'll reiterate, Bitcoin is NOT a perfect system in itself, no matter how many people talk about it being the best thing around. I'd probably still agree with the latter statement, but it doesn't mean it's flawless.
1293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 15, 2022, 04:02:46 PM
I still think that Diaz and Salah will need a lot of time to be combined toghether even tho they played last season togheter a little. We have seen honestly from Diaz that he will be a great substitute for Mane. Brilliant player and i think he will replace him just fine
I don't think so. Diaz has slotted in almost instantly. Literally, looks like he has been playing for us for years. That's what I was so surprised by. I don't think I've seen him have a bad game in a Liverpool shirt yet, and almost always made an impact if he was starting to being subbed on.

I'm not too worried about Diaz. Nunes will take a bit to slot in probably. He haven't really played with a player like him for a long time, and he isn't like Mane or Bobby. I can't say I'm overly familiar with him, but when I have seen him he has looked dangerous. Is he a Liverpool player? Only time will tell.
1294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 15, 2022, 03:58:12 PM
There seems to be a mistake with Tapology's page for this event.  Lemos vs Waterson is at straw weight, not at fly weight.  I put Lemos at my top ticket.  Now I'm feeling like it's going to be a close match.  :/
Yeah, I'm thinking this could be a close fight, and Waterson takes it via decision. Now, I'm not going to bet my house on that mind you. However, I'll be placing it in my ticket or I might go the safer route, and just put a bet down to go the distance.

I'm still undecided hence why I haven't posted my predictions or bets yet. Just going to review a few things, but Waterson is my early lean.

Jack Shore also will be on my ticket, not only because of being bias, and a supporter of him, but I genuinely believe he beats Simon, despite his wrestling skills. It'll be a very good grappling match I think.
1295  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 15, 2022, 03:55:50 PM
I mean, Liverpool commiserates with Salah more than they celebrate Mane's victory; Chelsea threw a welcome party for Mendy and fluent him on our social media pages for a few days to make him feel loved; and I hope you understand I'm not trying to school you on your own club. Simply stating the obvious. And I sincerely hope that Mane's departure has an impact on Liverpool's season, allowing us to overtake them.
Yeah, but we've also got to think of Salah too here, and you might say that's prioritising him. However, imagining you come back from losing the final, and probably partly blaming yourself, and then your club is throwing a part for the player you were directly up against. It's all about managing morale.

I have no doubt his departure will affect us. I'm not sure how much Nunez will make a difference at the moment, but looks like a player. Diaz has looked brilliant though, so I don't think we're out for the count yet.

Two factor authentication would be my priority, although I understand implementing that within the current forum software is probably going to require a lot of work. However, other than that I'm happy with the current implementation of the forum. Maybe, adding some categorisation of the Altcoin section. Not only to organise it a little better, but also to encourage a bit more discussion related to certain topics.

I'd like to hear what others think about the sections that require more moderation? I've got spare time, and I'm willing to put some time into reporting again. Gambling Discussion, and Altcoin Discussion are the one's on my list at the moment. Are there any other particularly troubling sections?

A somewhat off topic remarks, but I'd also like to see the community reporting how it was a while back. We've seem to have slumped pretty hard recently.
1297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 14, 2022, 07:48:45 PM
Are you aware of how Liverpool treated Mane after he won Salah and became AFCON champion? Are you aware that Liverpool never congratulated Mane, Salah is placed above every other player on the team, and his opinion is superior to the other players'.

Are you also aware that the entire Senegalese community wanted Mane to leave the club? And Mane confirmed it, saying he would do whatever his country wanted! Mane was not receiving the same amount of love and energy he was giving to the club.

Liverpool broke the bank to make Salah the highest-paid player in club history, but couldn't raise Mane's salary by a few percent?

Mane and Salah were never brothers; they were simply professional teammates on the field.

Bayer first tweet was to congratulate Mane for winning AFCON. A dip at Liverpool.
I mean, there's a difference between a team looking to purchase a player, and a team that already has that player congratulating. There's also a massive different between a PR post, and congratulating your player behind the scenes. I don't know if what you claim is true, since I don't follow Liverpool's social media, however I'm absolutely certain that Mane was congratulated behind the scenes, and not only that Salah was supported for losing in the final.

Mane was a brilliant player, and someone who I'm going to miss, and I can guarantee most other Liverpool fans will tell you the same, and they'll tell you they wanted what was best for Mane, since that's what he deserved. Sometimes fans turn on players when they leave, most didn't with Mane. Think about how Coutinho left, and compare it to Sadio.

I loved Mane, and honestly if it wasn't for Firminho, VVD, Matip he would probably be my favourite player. That's before Salah by the way. However, I know that signing Salah was absolutely more important for the club than renewing Sadio, despite me preferring Mane.

Mane was basically the first signing I remember saying we're getting somewhere. He was the very foundation of what we've built today, and for him to compete this long, and with some of the best forwards to have graced the game, he has been absolutely brilliant. The thing is we're Liverpool, we don't have bottomless pockets, and have always been a team that looks to replace any outgoing money. Hence why our transfer stats reflect this.

I'm not going to pretend Sadio, and Salah were the closest of players, but they were competitive team mates, and sure I suspect there was some rivalry in there. However, that rarely effected how they played. Anything suggested otherwise is simply media trying to mix the pot.

Personally, I'd listen to a number of players before Salah. Salah isn't a leader per say, and I don't think he's put above other players. I do think there's a slight difference of paying more for your best player. Honestly, despite me loving Salah, I think there's more important players; VVD, Alison, and Trent. Those are the very heart of our team, without one of those we lost creativity, we leak goals, and Salah despite being absolutely amazing he doesn't have as big of an impact, except when he's on amazing form like he was earlier in the season. He did save us a lot there. However, that usually isn't sustainable. He goes missing a lot with the opposition marking him out of the game.
1298  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto lender Celsius files for bankruptcy in New York on: July 14, 2022, 07:37:51 PM
Another bear market & another chain of seemingly well run crypto companies gets liquidated. That's the problem with these centralised shitcoin casinos, they can’t be trusted. Starting all the way back with Gox & it’s still happening now. Get your money off these type of platforms of you will get rugged.
well run is highly subjective here. I mean, there's questionable ethics on how they managed their business, and quite frankly the business model they had, basically guaranteed success. As long as they were driving users to their platform, they were making money.

Honestly, I just want to see these sort of business practices be done with. I hate how you can just plainly get away with moving around funds, and then declaring bankruptcy. There needs to be more investigations, and more of holding the people responsible for their actions.
1299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Crypto Standard ? on: July 14, 2022, 07:34:31 PM
Nah, I don't really see the logical behind that at all? What would be the benefit of it? Usually, people creating altcoins want to bring something different to the table that Bitcoin doesn't have, at least any of the altcoins worth their weight anyway.

How is bitcoin being adopted mean that all crypto would be backed by bitcoin? You're going to need to expound further.
I mean with the cookie cutter tutorials out there now, I think you were right. Anyone could create it, at least anyone who can follow the most basic of instructions. I know that isn't creating anything special or unique, but take a look at most of the stuff released today, and you'll see that a lot of them have gone this route. Basically, changing certain parameters which are basically meaningfulness.
1300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Hasim Rahman Jr / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug on: July 14, 2022, 07:29:52 PM
The Tommy Fury fight was banking on Tommy's family name to bring in the PPV buys.  Backfilling him with Rahman was a last minute attempt to still collect a check.  I don't think Hasim will back down from this fight.  What other chance does he have at getting this sort of payday?  If he does back out at the last minute, I don't think anyone would hold that against Jake.  It does feel a little bit like the hype is dying down though, so I hope we see another good fight to keep things going.  As much as I don't want to see Mike Tyson fight again, if this fight falls through, I think Jake has no choice but to try and bait Tyson into a fight by the end of the year to keep his name in the news.
It'll be interesting to see how much Rahman is actually getting of the purse. I imagine Jake Paul has demanded a rather large percentage of it. Rahman gets exposure, but if he gets knocked out like Jake's last opponents its not the type of exposure he wants.

Honestly, I don't know enough about Rahman to even comment on how this goes. I don't really know how well he boxes, and how he matches up to Paul. Jake wouldn't have taken this fight if he didn't think he could win, especially since they've already sparred. I imagine this was always going to be lined up, and Rahman was the fall guy if anything went amiss with Fury. I imagine, due to the problems the Fury family has had recently with being banned, due to association with certain criminals, Jake might've already seen this coming.
