I like this picture a lot. It was like an Xmas present for Charles. Next second Charles realizes and pauses for a second, to select how he gonna finish Gaethji. Next seconds, when he was behind Gaethji, he could do kimura, americana, anaconda or simply choke Gaethji. Really a unbelievable present from Justin.
The biggest shame for me is Justin was avoiding the ground at all costs, even when clearly hurting Olivera, at least at first. Time after time I've seen fighters hurt their opponent, and then get carried away, and start trying to choke them or jump on them. When really they just need to ask the ref to stand them up, and go back to work. As soon as I saw it hit the floor, I probably did curse out loud, since I just knew it would be the beginning of the end for Justin.

It was a good fight while it lasted, we just need someone who can knock out Olivera with one punch, because the guy is definitely chinny, but he has that fallback where he can take his guard, and that's defensive enough for most fighters to either not engage or get choked out due to his superior ground game.
1742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 10, 2022, 01:21:57 PM
Gaethji vs Poirier
This is the type of fight where you don't really know what's going to happen. The first time around both of them got rocked, and could have easily gone to either fighter on the night. If these guys fought ten times, I imagine it would be pretty 50/50 on who wins on the night. The only issue I see for Justin is I believe Poirer has improved quite a lot since they last fought. Justin seems to found his level, albeit that being a rather high level.

Olivera is a problem though, if any of them want to hold the belt. Not convinced anyone can take that belt off him, and keep it. Although, Justin definitely did hurt him, I got the feeling you've got to knock him out clean, otherwise he'll fall to his back, take guard, and recover without taking any more damage, since the threat of his ground game is too much for most in the division.
1743  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How can you verify the randomness that's coming from a hardware? on: May 10, 2022, 12:27:25 AM
So, going back to the original threads discussion point, and deviating ever so slightly. Are we ever going to see truly open source hardware in personal computers, since not everyone using Bitcoin is going to be purchasing a hardware wallet, so while hardware wallets likely will need to be implementing open source chips in order to compete with each other, the issue is that the hardware that we use every day, is the real issue.

If we achieve mass adoption, then that's the problem for me. Since, technically most computer users are either using intel or AMD, that's effectively decentralising Bitcoin, if the hardware is compromised, since everyone who has generated a private key on that machine could be compromised, which lets face it is probably the majority.

Do we think there's a big enough market, and enough demand to make it profitable to create open source hardware? It seems to me we are going down the path of making things more obscured. Take phones for example, the charging ports changing every couple of years, specialised ports being made to make it difficult for cheaper brands to replicate, removable batteries now a thing of the past, all to make sure that you continue buying new hardware, but not just that buying hardware from those that are putting these restrictions in their products in the first place.

My fear is, that even if this question is a little bit paranoid right now, is it going to be paranoid to be worried about such things down the line? After all, it seems manufacturers have a tactic in hand to keep you buying from only them, and for the large part don't care about longevity of their devices any more, and instead want to keep you buying new products, which I think could be argued to being unethical already. While compromising private keys or the way entropy is generated then, on their devices might not be the target vector of choice, collecting data is a huge one. We see it baked into every piece of software out there these days, and I imagine it's only a matter of time that the hardware itself collects data on you.

In fact, CoinKite themselves recommend to at least add some entropy through dice rolls or to use just dice rolls, but I doubt how many users will actually do that. They even sell dice; maybe a sign of them not being very confident about this 'TRNG' entropy.
Yeah, but there should be a easier way of going about it. Maybe, something that is provably fair using their software, rather than suggesting an alternative method that to be honest is probably only suggested for advanced users. I like to think we should be making it as simple as possible to have the upmost security, and this should be achievable by anyone, with or without technical knowledge. At the moment, we're a long way off that. However, if we truly want mass adoption, then we need to convince people they don't need banks, and they can rely on it without having too much knowledge. I don't think we're quite there yet, despite hardware wallets definitely taking us leaps, and bounds to where we were before them.
1744  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Amount to safely transfer from exchange to hardware wallet on: May 10, 2022, 12:14:53 AM
If ever in doubt, contact an accountant. Give them the details, and the transaction records, and they'll figure it out for you. Depending on where you live, they could only charge you something like £100 for filling the necessary paper work (self assessment) or they might just charge you for consultation if that's all required.

Tax can be complex at the best of times, but when you come to Bitcoin, the various laws that have changed over the years, then tax can become very complex quickly. I prefer the piece of mind knowing I've had everything verified, checked, and filed correctly. It's one of the only times I quite like the idea of using a third party for verifying things. Plus, it takes a considerable amount of time off my hands each year.

However, generally as users have mentioned when you've bought into an investment, only when selling that investment does it become taxable. If you received that money as income, it would be a different story, and be liable to income tax.

I don't recommend getting tax advice on the forum, ask a professional lawyer instead, whatever that costs.
An accountant would be fine. They deal with this sort of stuff all the time, and know tax laws inside out usually.
1745  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for May on: May 10, 2022, 12:08:05 AM
In May? Most probably not because even if the market manipulation stopped right now and price didn't drop more, it would still take a long time for the same weak hands who have been panic selling to regain confidence and stop panic selling* and for price to go above $40k.

For now we are going to continue seeing the struggle specially as the weak Western economy slowly falls apart.

* The problem with panic sell is that even if it is no longer happening, it could resume when price goes a little higher because some newbies are waiting for a little rise to panic sell so for example if price were to recover from $35k to $38k these newbies would start their panic sell and prevent the momentum from shaping which is why I think it takes longer than that for their effects to go away.
Exactly. Honestly, before this dive I was predicting to remain in the £30k-£35k range for the remainder of the year, and I think this recent dive has reinforced my prediction in that. Even if I was wrong in my reasoning's prior to this dive, I do believe we often underestimate the faith that is lost by those that are entering the market, simply to buy, and sell quickly aiming to sort of get rich quick. I think that's been a common occurrence of each rise, and drop Bitcoin has had.

The thing is, whenever something like this happens the people around me always point out the fact that Bitcoin has finally burst, then when we do eventually recover (which hasn't been a awful amount of time in the past) they go rather quiet, and just wait for their next opportunity.

The thing is though, the constant volatility we're seeing is actually quite good for speculative investors, since they can actually make a lot of money. It's probably one of the most unique investment opportunities, because if you truly believe in Bitcoin, then you probably are quite confident that it'll recover.
1746  Economy / Speculation / Re: Only a matter of time until this website dies on: May 10, 2022, 12:03:22 AM
Funny thing is ...Joke is on yall today lmao looks like this so called "Newbie" was right haha crypto has not been this low in YEARS. So yeah enjoy your bleeding charts that will continue to BLEED....Love being right 😁😁
The thing is; you could've actually looked really cool here, and looked like your were right on the money. However, your exaggeration of the price history is easy to disprove, by checking the price history via charts, and thus any credibility that you might have had would've shot right up.

Honestly though, if you're panicking because at the moment you're losing money, my advice would be to hang in there. I know you might be questioning your belief in Bitcoin at this moment, when its taking a dive, but if you look at why Bitcoin should, and has been successful it should restore some faith on why it'll return to higher amounts than it currently is.
1747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 09, 2022, 11:48:22 PM
As for Tony Ferguson, I think it's just a matter of time when Dana White will kick him out off UFC, but he said he was impressed with his performance until KO, it's just his stupid mind games  Embarrassed
I'm not so sure Dana would benefit from that, Tony still has a lot of fans that are willing to pay to see him fight, and to be fair to Tony, he did look great up until the knockout. I had him winning the round, Chandler getting that take down might have convinced the judges otherwise, but for me Tony caught Chandler multiple times, and could have easily ended the fight on another day.

I don't like seeing a legend get the beat downs he has had recently, but he loves fighting, I think that much is obvious. I'm not going to rush him out of the sport, just because I think he's getting on. He actually looked very good for a period of that fight.

Plus, it was a bit of a freak knockout, Chandler probably doesn't land that sweetly ever again from a kick like that. Much better kickers than Chandler would have been proud of that one.

But all in all, if it were up to me I'd skip Makhachev vs somebody and go straight to Oliveira vs Makhachev.  I think Makhachev is ready.  He's been asking the UFC for it but they won't budge.
Yeah, probably as ready as he'll ever be. Although, I'm not sure he would beat Olivera. Olivera has converted me to a fan now, I've doubted him a few times, but he keeps delivering so I can't just ignore that. The dude can strike too, which to be honest I didn't think was one of the tools in his belt. However, he proved that against Justin. While still being a little chinny, he survives consistently, and knows that he can take guard, and no one is willing fully going to jump on him.

Welsh, gonna like this Cheesy

Adesanya gonna face Cannonier. So far this fight is not in UFC 276 card . And what else we see there? Borz vs Diaz Cheesy
I'm going to be proper nervous for that event. Bloody awesome card on those fights alone though. I actually think Cannonier might have a chance here, he's explosive, and can knock anyone out. Will be a good fight no doubt. Also, Pereira being on that card can't be underestimated, wonder if it'll effect Adesanya if he sees him beat Strickland, who arguably has been on some very good form as of recent, despite me not being a huge fan of it, can't deny his talent.

Saving my money for that event I think. That's got classic all over it. I do believe Diaz is being fed to the dogs with that match up mind you, I expect the odds to be very very wide.

Well, I was bloody wrong about that one wasn't I? Damn, that feels like the league just slipped away. It was always going to be a tall order to expect Newcastle to do us a favour, but I haven't lost complete hope. Although, those late goals from City really did put a dent in things. The goal difference now seems beyond our reach, and we'd probably need City to drop points from two games, which is asking a bit too much in my opinion. West Ham probably being the hardest game of them all, I see them blowing away the rest though.

It says a lot that as a Liverpool fan most of us are disappointed, yet we're literally in two finals, and have already won a cup this year. That's crazy if you think about what it was like before Klopp came. The annoying part for me is, City likely get a striker, spend a lot of money this summer, and likely widen the gap that we've managed to close in recent years.
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia stops accepting btc donations - “inherently predatory” on: May 08, 2022, 04:16:26 PM
I saw this on some news outlet a couple of days ago. A lot of people in here seem to have all sorts of theories as to why Wikipedia did this, but none of them really seems to add up to me. However maybe I should be a little more skeptical being that Wikipedia is always asking for donations, and now they stop accepting bitcoin..I’m just not sure the environmental impact deal is what really led to this. Disappointing nonetheless.
You don't think that we'll see an increase in companies going against Bitcoin because of the recent energy consumption allegations? I think that makes perfect sense to me. If you look at how the world is going, all that's important right now is company image, and therefore looking like your supporting a currency which is alleged to be a big contributor to the environment being polluted, doesn't look good does it? So, going against that currency, therefore makes it look like you actually care, and therefore in the eyes of the public your stock goes up.

I don't see that being implausible at all, and I do think that's the real reason this has come about. Otherwise, there would be no reason to remove it, after all it's free money, and costs nothing to post a Bitcoin address up. You could argue admin costs for withdrawing from time to time, but they wouldn't have to do it that frequently. I didn't look at how they implemented it, but I assume they used a payment gateway so that they had it automatically converted for them, which would take up a little bit of their resources on their server. However, if they cared about maximising their donations, they could opt to just post an address instead.
1752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia stops accepting btc donations - “inherently predatory” on: May 08, 2022, 04:11:50 PM
I am shocked to learn that wikipedia didn't get much donations with crypto. I always assumed it would be one of the highest ones yet again. I am saying again because when wikileaks happened the biggest one was crypto, they couldn't get fiat so they accepted crypto and they were paid a ton of money with it, or places like piratesbay which has been running for so many years purely on donations via crypto as well.
That's why, if they couldn't accept fiat then obviously cryptocurrencies will be the highest, since that's their only option. However, whenever fiat is being accepted, it'll likely trump Bitcoin. Most Bitcoin users are currently hoarding Bitcoin, and using it as a reserve currency, due to the prospect of it going up in the future. So, yeah I can understand why they didn't receive much in cryptocurrency. In fact, I'd like to know the proper numbers, as I expect for a long period of time they received none at all through Bitcoin, and only the odd donation will inflate their numbers.
1753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol - May 7 on: May 08, 2022, 01:58:43 PM
I didn't watch the whole card, I only tuned in for the main event. I don't always watch Canelo, as I don't really particularly like his personality, and I find him to have a bit of a ego, without actually being that entertaining in person. Obviously, a good boxer, and likes to test the waters. However, I honestly thought he was outclassed last night, and the score cards were embarrassing, as it definitely wasn't that close. They had it 115 - 113, right? Impossible, I had Bivol with at the very least eight rounds.

I think the step up for Canelo was a bit too much, and he probably goes back down after this. I do admire his ambition to unify multiple divisions though. I'll always respect when a fighter doesn't just fight anyone that pays the wages, and instead challenges themselves. However, I thought he was thoroughly outclassed on the night, and was left frustrated, and without too many ideas.
1754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 08, 2022, 01:53:59 PM
Well, my rationale for the Man City game is; Man City have struggled to score at times this season, I said a long time ago that this was the case, and they ended up dropping 9 points or whatever the gap was. They do struggle from time to time. Newcastle United are on the up, and played well against us who have been in fine goal scoring form. So, they have a chance of either nicking the game or keeping the game close enough to be within a chance of getting a point. I'm not expecting them to, but I'm expecting a close game.

Obviously, City could well go there, and blow them away as they do have the quality. However, they haven't done that an awful lot this season, and if anything they've just did enough to get the wins. A few times this season they've gotten lucky with some of the calls. I'm not saying Liverpool or any other team doesn't have things go in their favour, you probably need it to win the league. However, they have rode their luck at times this season.

They either come out really motivated to the due champions league exit or that result will play on their minds, Newcastle comes out strong, and gets that important goal.

On a side note, it looks like Everton are going to survive the drop. Picked up form just in time really, doesn't help that Leeds can't even string two passes together.
1755  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Guide] How to run a Bitcoin Core full node for under 50 bucks! on: May 08, 2022, 01:47:06 PM
To be honest whenever I've had issues with compatibility issues, using Linux seems to always fix it due to their legacy drivers. That's not to say that it doesn't require a little bit of tinkering, but I've had machines running Windows that basically refused to operate, but switching to Linux, and it was a near seamless experience. These days I don't even run Windows at all. Completely ditched it.

Now use Debian, Fedora inside Qubes OS with Xen Hypervisor. Unfortunately, with this method a lot of the compatibility issues is hardware specific to Qubes OS due to its nature.

I don't know what's the situation with spare parts for those laptops you purchased, but you could try finding hardware maintenance manual and identify all compatible wifi cards.
They normally only specify the types of connections on hardware that are compatible, right? Probably, better looking on the internet to see what's compatible with your exact hardware, rather than using the manual which will be rather generic.

OR it could be I just got a bad card.......
Could be, if it was incompatibility issues I'd like to think there would be more users looking for support on the issue. Although, I do understand that this might be a niche issue.
1756  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to reduce energy consumption and eliminate wasted work on: May 08, 2022, 01:41:11 PM
I wouldn't be very surprised if we see completely integrated 'green' mining solutions for homeowners in the near future (hobbyists are already working on them as we speak), consisting of solar panels on the roof, using the miner's heat output to heat water for the house (needed winter & summer) and a way to put it outside or submerged to make it silent. The miner(s) could even help repay the solar installation faster, as you don't usually pull the whole power that it can theoretically provide, so part of the generated energy is lost if you're not mining. With a good OS, the power draw can be dynamically adjusted depending on the output of the solar array.
By that, do you think it'll ever be a possibility that energy solutions might be sold or supplied with the purchase of mining equipment, or is that a little bit too expensive, and bulky to justify?

I do agree, that a lot of miners will be looking to repurpose that lost energy, and heating water might the method of choice. Although, I haven't looked at the practicalities of that or how much water you'd be able to actually heat up. Since, most water is heated up on demand, i.e if you want a bath, that's when your boiler kicks in, and heats up the water. I'm not sure if a miner will have enough to be able to do that on demand? The energy could be banked potentially, and then used?

I'm not a miner, I'm just interested in combatting this movement of Bitcoin vs Energy. While, I do think it's blown out of portion from what I can gather, its still an issue that ideally we need to overcome. Public perception means everything when it comes to adoption.
1757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 08, 2022, 01:37:07 PM
Olivera was tagged many times against Gathje, it already feel like he'd going to lose the fight because he falls to the ground twice I believe. He was just lucky that Gathje is not up for a ground fight which is also his downfall here. I thought it would be an arm bar.
Justin rushed, and that was his downfall. Although, Olivera caught Justin multiple times, and hurt him. So, really I don't know how that fight would've gone if Justin didn't dive into that submission. I thought he was doing the right thing for most of the fight, Olivera would take guard as soon as he got hurt, and Justin would ask for him to stand up. That was the game plan, and he needed to not engage on the ground at all, I guess with the excitement of hurting him again he just forgot about the game plan, and ultimately paid the price.

Although, I enjoyed the fight I do wish it went on for a little longer, as it was shaping up to a very entertaining, and competitive fight. Olivera has more power than I thought, and his dangerous ground game, means he can get rocked, and fighters will be reluctant to pounce on him.
1758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 08, 2022, 01:10:34 PM
Rose Namajunas VS Carla Esparza Round 5 LOST

Well I can not say for sure what I am watching but for sure Rose Namajunas was mimicking Israel Adesanya, but without those strikes, I could say he can surely defend from all those takedowns, man I thought that Rose Namajunas would be aggressive here but there was no much striking, but the judges have judged the fight on Octagon control and not with the fighters advantage and striking, but I am not happy with the fight at all, it is like they don't want to fight at all, I really don't enjoy that fight but I will still look forward on what Namajunas would do or who will she fight next, I don't really think Carla Esparza win this fight and who is the champion at all, but I wish a rematch will take place, but not like this fight it was garbage of a fight, Namajunas might remember what happened to their first fight  for always focusing on that takedown defense,
I had the boxing on at the same time, so I was fortunately able to just watch that instead, but from what I saw that was one of the worst fights I've ever seen. I don't think you could call it a fight. Thought the scorecards were a little wild on it, and to be honest from what I saw, I'm quite glad Rose lost that title. At least Esparza tried to close the distance, and got a few takedowns, while Rose basically shadow boxed the whole fight, and then was surprised why she didn't win. Most anti fighting I've ever seen from a fighter. I don't want to see that rematch, that's for sure.

I just don't understand what the gameplan is, fair enough if she got a few punches off, and then avoided engaging, but she did it right from the off. I honestly had the first two rounds as a 10-10, because nothing actually happened at all, so it was impossible to score in favour of anyone.
1759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 08, 2022, 11:04:16 AM
No, no City will lose tonight cause they are still groggy from CL knockout and then we will have super exciting finish. If City losses with one goal difference than they are on same points and Liverpool has 2 goals better goal difference and then it will be fight in last couple of games to see who can score more Smiley

I know it will not happen but it would make for one hell of finish and we can dream.
Who's predicted it? No one, right? I'll be the crazy bastard to predict it. Newcastle to get a early goal within the first 20 minutes, which results in Man City being shaky all game, finally they get a goal back, but Newcastle hit back once again. 2-1. I know I'm dreaming, but Klopp got us Liverpool fans to believe, and I believe in Shelvey, and co. I've got to at this point. I'd take a point, which I think is the more likely of the two outcomes, Although, they probably win, and probably pad that goal difference too.
1760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 08, 2022, 11:01:41 AM
Tony looked very good, up until he didn't. It was a bit of a freak knockout, since Chandler as he said doesn't really train for that. It was almost a soccer kick, and not a front kick. The replays weren't pretty, and Ferguson took a while to wake back up. Hopefully, that doesn't have any lasting effects, how many fights does Ferguson have on his current contract? It's always sad to see the decline of a legend, especially when they get knocked out, and beaten up like has in recent fights.

Although, he did actually have Chandler hurt a few times, even though the round must have been around two minutes, maximum? Its a shame, I honestly thought Chandler was going to run through him, but in the end he was actually getting beaten up until the one take down, and that knockout.
