1961  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 03, 2022, 05:16:13 PM
Yeah, I was a bit of a dipstick last night, I thought the UFC was on this weekend, I'm just glad I didn't end up ordering food before realising. Ah well, next weekend should be a blast Cheesy. I'll probably do my predictions again as I know there's been some fighters drop out. One that I was going to put on my betting slip too.

At least I've got a banger of a card to get me through the rest of the week.

^ Chimaev is the special one. Its not just a hype, he's what he is. He lift Jing up and then talk to Dana while in the cage asking what he'd do scares the MMA fighters watching the fight. I say Burns seem challenged while the everyone hides from Chimaev. I don't bet big but this is going to be one of the fight that I might bet at least $200 to win $20.
Every single fighter I've seen being hyped up, has been derailed at some point even if it was only temporary. I expect it'll  be the same, and I actually think Burns might be the reality check we all need. Not sure why Burns is being so underrated.
1962  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 01, 2022, 06:08:59 PM
The City/Liverpool game next week should be a great one to watch.
Aye, great for a neutral. I for one will be shitting myself before the game, and likely all the way up until that final whistle goes. We've got so much riding on it, plus still being in all other competitions, we could put a historic season together, although I'm hoping thats not going to be our downfall. For me, the Premier League is the biggest prize considering our history with it. Plus, winning it again under Klopp would cement his success, rather than rival fans claiming it was a one off thing.

City for the last few outings have been extremely good against us. A few years ago I wasn't too nervous going into the match as we always seemed to cause them to make mistakes under our pressing.
1963  Other / Meta / Re: IQ testing now required before posting on: April 01, 2022, 05:23:55 PM
Something quick theymos whipped up, don't try to put too much thought into the questions being a little bit off course now, and then. Its a bit of fun, and the IQ rating is meaningless. As far as I'm aware the questions were submitted by anyone. Obviously, going through some sort of approval process to remove some of the duds. I do get the frustration when you've gone past the 170 point, and then one of these questions tripped you up, and your back down to 160/161, which then takes a lot of questions to get back to where you were.

A quick review of so many high IQs is showing me that theymos has really caused a lot of us to truly waste our time on this precious day..

What else could we be doing?
No worries, I'll be sending him a bill Cheesy.
1964  Other / Meta / Re: IQ testing now required before posting on: April 01, 2022, 05:08:46 PM
it's known that you need a big head to post on forums, social media apps should take notes
I have it on good authority that you need a planet sized head, in fact.

I had been hoping for a wrap-around to IQ:65535 or something, but it seems like 0 is the floor.
Ah, trying underhand tactics now I see Wink.

You are become too smart for us mere mortals.  I have been making some pretty simple mistakes, and sometimes just some awkward phrasing of the question causing me to make a wrong selection.    Cry Cry Cry

Of course, any wrong answer results in BIG ASS time-consumption to catch up (get back to the previous place), especially for us members who  happen to not be bots... #justsaying.
Yeah, there's a lot of inconsistencies especially with how the question is asked. Some go on to explain where they're asking the question from, then others just say some random name, and hope you'll know what its from. I guess to be a part of the elite you need to somewhat psychic.
1965  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 01, 2022, 04:52:55 PM
It's probably good to remove the underdogs from your parlay and just leave Volk, Yan and Garry parlayed at 1.75 since it's mostly likely going to cash then just bet straight on Burns and Du Plessis.  They're both live dogs imho.  Burns is a bit of step up for Chimaev, tho Chimaev could be something special.  And Du Plessis is going against Gastelum that seems to be deteriorating.  He hasn't looked himself since losing to Adesanya.

And tbh, I really don't know who I'd pick between Gastelum and Du Plessis.  The Du Plessis guy has some serious power in his hands and he's a big guy.  Go watch him vs Giles.
Funny you should say that it was either last week or the week before that I pretty much nailed a 6 fold accumulator if it wasn't for one of the massive favourites letting me down. Cory Mckenna, had to be a Welsh fighter too. I can't remember how much it was for now. It was for a decent amount I know.

I really like Du Plessis, hes come through for me many of times. Burns to me is the real risky bet, but I actually think hes going to do it. I rarely do single bets these days, I'd rather the excitement of an accumulator with high odds, especially since the Burns fight is one of the last on the accumulator.
1966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 19 millionth bitcoin will be mined in the next 24 hours. on: April 01, 2022, 04:34:14 PM
Despite us arguing that we're still early on, right. I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of attention Bitcoin has gotten via mainstream media, and the fact that within the sports industry you can't look anywhere without seeing something Bitcoin related. That's not something I expected to happen so soon. So, by my expectations we're ahead of what I thought we would be, at least in terms of recognition.

What if that number is 4 or 5 million? The methods used to obtain such data are, to say the least, very unreliable. If someone says 4 million BTC was lost because they haven’t moved x years, then that’s not some solid evidence we need to rely on. There is no doubt that part of the BTC has been lost, but it seems to me more and more that the number is between 1 and 2 million, given that every now and then someone moves coins from 2009 or 2010 that were believed to be lost.
Yeah, there's really only a handful of coins which can be provably lost, for example burner addresses. Otherwise, we're largely taken the word of someone else, that could well be lying or not being accurate. For example, losing your password doesn't necessarily mean they'll always be lost.
1967  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Hardware wallet vs software wallet for daily transaction on: April 01, 2022, 03:37:04 PM
This could potentially be breached, but so can any operating system.
Absolutely. But I'm fully aware of the significant risks in using a hot wallet, and I am accepting of those risks for the small amount of bitcoin I store in my mobile wallet for the convenience of having those coins readily available to spend at all times when I'm shopping, traveling, etc. If my phone gets stolen and I lose my coins, I'll be far more bummed out about the cost of a new phone than about the small amount of bitcoin I had on it.
True, mainly pointed out that fact for others that might not have the same mentality. I'm not against hot wallets at all, and I imagine quite a lot of people use something similar to this. I'm just hoping that they understand the risks of using it with a large amount of Bitcoin or anything that they deem more than they can afford to lose. I'm not automatically saying phones are insecure either, largely depends on how they're used.
1968  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Report] Malicious Link Received via DM on: April 01, 2022, 02:33:28 PM
Use the "report to Admin" button on the lower right of the message. Select what admin or global moderator you want it to be sent too, you could even check who's online at the time if you wanted or send it to them all. These messages are usually dealt with pretty quickly, and more often than not the users are banned.
1969  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Small Guide - How to detect a website scam on: April 01, 2022, 02:30:08 PM
I've seen a lot of scam sites that accept credit cards. That just shows that scammers are often not any smarter than the people they manage to scam.
I mean the reason they've resorted to such low level of scamming is because they haven't got the required intellect to actually earn the money legitimately. Maybe, they would have benefited from the IQ test of the forum Tongue.

Although, in all seriousness sometimes the scammers aren't particularly looking for you to purchase something from them, and keep that money, but get your credit card credentials. If they that, they could theoretically make purchases in your name. Hence, why credit card fraud is rather popular among these types of people.
1970  Other / Meta / Re: High IQ Gang: Now accepting applicants! on: April 01, 2022, 02:12:35 PM
I’m too scared to get one wrong, it sets you back about 10 points. Might just retire here on 170 tbh.
Probably wise, I've basically gotten to around 169/170 twice, and then dropped all the way back down to 161. I guess some of us just haven't got the brain size of a planet. I guess you can call me Pluto brain from now on. Thinking of just starting my own non elite club inspired by buwaytress Cheesy.
1971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 01, 2022, 02:05:09 PM
I would suggest to take a look on Oleynik vs Latifi fight once again. Oleynik is 44 years old, is on series of 3 loses, and is best known for submissions. While Latifi never lost by submission and his base sports is wrestling (he is actually from wrestling family). I would say there are high chances that old Oleynik dont have a strong chin after 76 fights. By the look at Oleynik, I find that he does not have that fighting spirit anymore and seeks for a calm and peaceful life, to continue doing gardening. Just my 2 cents.
I have a soft spot for veterans. I think for this fight, he'll be alright. I think volume could be a problem, and that could potentially get him a decision loss. Although, if he can go the lay, and pray strategy of just taking down, and getting some control time. I think he could get the decision himself. I'm not expecting a finish in this fight, probably has the potential to be a boring fight all things considered.
1972  Other / Meta / Re: High IQ Gang: Now accepting applicants! on: April 01, 2022, 01:52:14 PM
The number of questions between 199 and 200 is obscene...
I see your tapping into the computing reserves of LoyceV, it's the only explanation why their IQ is 162. Quite clearly using their processing power for the supreme leader.

Now it looks as though I have less than 11 hours to raise my IQ using whatever hellbegotten, horse-fucked algorithm Theymos is using to measure members' IQ.
Ah, you can get to 160 in a matter of minutes. No excuses! Although, one wrong answer can send you spiraling down, so be careful. There are definitely techniques to avoid tricky questions Wink.

Did Theymos expect us to be editing our posts all day?
Well, put it this way any third party script monitoring edited posts is going to be rather congested today.
1973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 01, 2022, 01:38:26 PM
Right, my predictions:

Alexander Volkanovski
Petr Yan
Gilbert Burns
Mackenzie Dern
Aleksei Oleinik
Dricus Du Plessis
Aspen Ladd
Ian Garry
Anthony Hernandez
Jairzinho Rozenstruik
Mike Malott
Julio Arce
Vinc Pichel

That's a lot of fights this event. My actual betting slip will probably only include a few of these. I'm thinking Ian Garry, Petr Yan, Alex Volk, and potentially Gilbert Burns as the underdog. I'm undecided, but I might put Dricus Du Plessis on the betting slip too. Hes always pulled it out of the bag when I've included him.
1974  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Small Guide - How to detect a website scam on: April 01, 2022, 01:26:37 PM
There are a few more red flags on these websites, I'm mostly interested in mining resellers so they only fit these but still:

- the reviews, serious websites don't list customer reviews, not with pictures and names anyhow how do you even get the picture of your customer in the first place)
- pop-up notification about x from y country buying z amount of stuff every minute
Good point. This was what I was talking about before, if you do a reverse image search on those images, they'll likely always be some kind of stock image. The give away is they're usually very professional looking, when the reviewiers probably haven't got perfect lighting etc.

- pop-up notification about x from y country buying z amount of stuff every minute
Yeah, every minute is probably excessive. Although, these are quite popular plugins so it doesn't always mean they aren't legit if they've got some sort of notification plugin. Although, I'll be honest its an invasion of privacy for me, X has bought from Y, those types of notifications should be frowned upon.
1975  Other / Off-topic / Re: It's Fool's Day and be careful with your IQ on: April 01, 2022, 01:21:04 PM
Yeah, theymos up to his old tricks again. Is it just me or are some of the questions, trick questions with wrong answers?
I do believe a few of them I've answered have been wrong. Although, that might just be my low IQ shining through. I've also noticed that the questions are heavily influenced by America. Anything about American history is usually true in the questions I've found. Also, any question which has gone into specific detail is usually true.

I do believe the questions/answers are created by the community via here. So, there could be some inconsistencies.
1976  Other / Meta / Re: IQ testing now required before posting on: April 01, 2022, 01:13:28 PM
I know it's an April Fools, Still, Let's discuss it. That's a Stupid way/Reason to ban members. I don't have common sense and that's why I am here in Bitcointalk to learn more and build up my IQ. Isn't it enough reason to be here? I was curious about my country's job viva system. They ask stupid questions. Suppose my Job position is Marketing manager, They will ask me- Who won the first Noble? Fuck off. That's why I never looked for a job. If you really want to erase us from here. That's a nice addition.
I've always seen IQ as a relatively meaningless thing. Even  doing tests are somewhat inaccurate, since some people are just not great testers. Bitcointalk would never seriously implement something like this, but that's what April Fools is all about, this forum is usually rather serious so its nice to see forum users loosen up a little, and have a bit of fun. Even if its just for the one day.

That's why I never looked for a job. If you really want to erase us from here.
Nah, definitely meant as a tongue in cheek remark.
1977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the real Satoshi Nakamoto please stand up ! on: April 01, 2022, 01:03:38 PM
I’m really glad that Satoshi refuses to reveal his true identity. I really don’t see any positives that can come from it. Any way, thanks for the link though, I will give it a watch tonight when I am not so busy.
No positives, only negatives. They would be heavily scrutinised by those that oppose Bitcoin, and I wouldn't put it past certain organisations to start pinning fake stories on Satoshi trying to undermine the integrity of Bitcoin. While, we all know that Bitcoin isn't really owned by anyone, and therefore the reputation of Satoshi in theory doesn't matter, it definitely does matter for adoption. This is going to be an extreme example, but if Satoshi was a particularly heinous criminal, then you just know the media would run with that, and people would be reluctant to start using or accepting a currency that was created by someone with such heinous crimes.

Obviously, I'm not suggesting that is the case, and really it probably wouldn't have to be for the propaganda machine to start spinning.
1978  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin Nearly Bailed Me Out on: April 01, 2022, 12:55:44 PM
You were lucky to have your funds back but the highlighted part in your post is the worst way to backup your seed phrase as having Screenshot in your mobile phone is as risky as telling them to people openly. The first rule is i would say offline storage on piece of paper or metal sheets with full safety. What if your phone was lost, stolen or damaged would you be able to get your funds back then and it would be permanently lost adding up to the shrinking supply of 21million.
I can think of worse ways of storing a backup for example storing them online via pastebin or something would be absolutely disastrous, but yeah it definitely isn't optimal, far from it. Not only from the malicious attackers point of view, but also phones are easily damaged. I don't know how many phones I've gone through over the years. Only takes water damage or a drop or two, and your data could be gone.

There's many ways of backing up a seed, you could go the washer route which is probably a little over kill for most users, but as long as your storing it offline in a reasonably secure place, then you should be fine.
1979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 19 millionth bitcoin will be mined in the next 24 hours. on: April 01, 2022, 12:50:55 PM
It's pretty impressive that while we've already mined the majority of Bitcoin, we are still as LFC_Bitcoin puts it; relatively early. Anyone from the outside that doesn't understand how Bitcoin functions, would assume we're already close to mining it all, and therefore feel like they've already missed out on getting some, which obviously isn't true.

In theory, Bitcoin should continue to become more exclusive, and the demand should increase. Adoption will likely only increase once Bitcoin becomes less volatile. That's when we'll likely see pretty much everywhere accepting Bitcoin, whether that's directly or through payment processors that convert it automatically to fiat.
1980  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin Nearly Bailed Me Out on: April 01, 2022, 12:45:24 PM
Also, probably worth noting that storing your seeds as a screenshot in the future probably isn't the best way of going about things, since the phone is online, and you use it regularly if it were ever compromised so would your seed. Seeds should always be stored offline, and preferably not on digital media. Obviously, you still need to look at securing the offline backup from physical threats.

At least you made some sort of backup, and were able to recover them successfully though!
