1581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bought anything with btc? on: June 03, 2022, 12:54:46 PM
As time goes on, the less I spend with Bitcoin. A few years ago, I pretty much wanted to use my Bitcoin for everything that I could. Actually, actively seeking out companies/services that accepted it. These days, I'd much rather save it, I guess as a reserve currency rather than something I'd spend regularly. I probably haven't spent my Bitcoin over a year. The last time I remember was to join a competition here on the forum, and then before that was buying some things in the collectible section, which you couldn't get with fiat. Otherwise, I wouldn't have spent my Bitcoin for a few years now.

I imagine this is the case for a lot of users here, especially those that have witnessed the price change over time. It becomes hard to justify spending it, when you could spend fiat, and not be at risk of losing out over time.
1582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: June 03, 2022, 12:49:28 PM
Honestly, what I'm waiting for is how Manchester United will improve themselves to look at the Premier League so that it can be better. Because we know this season they have lost their way in everything, and that is very disappointing for their supporters. Now they have plenty of time to prepare everything. And I'm looking forward to what improvements have changed in this team.
They likely won't. Many people say it, but that's because it's true; that club is rotting from the inside out. It's not a manager issue, and it's not just a players issue. There's obviously issues within the structure of the club. I know they've likely been hit with the Fergie hangover, but there's definitely much more to it than that.

I don't follow the club closely, but I know there's been questions asked of the owners, and if they've changed every other part of the club, but that then maybe those accusations do actually have a bit of substance behind them.
1583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: June 03, 2022, 12:47:16 PM
It usually is always about the money. Look at Mbappe. Looks like he was dead set on a move away, then voila, he's now very happy to stay once PSG have promised him a quarter of a billion over the next three years and looks like he's practically going to be a player-manager.
Yeah, I'm hoping it's the agent doing the talking rather than the player. It's almost like we get sent mixed signals because one week Salah is saying on an interview that it's not about the money, and he wants to retire at Liverpool. Then, another week we get the news that it's entirely about money, and it doesn't look like it's going to get done, and he would consider joining other rivals in the UK.

It's mad how things can change. I'm assuming that the agent wants to turn the fans against the board, but if the quoted figures are correct (in the £400k region) I actually think the fans will more likely want a replacement. That sounds weird saying, because I'm a massive fan of Salah, but he's not my favourite player, and he can sometimes be a little bit frustrating despite his quality. Although, the same could be said for Mane, and probably any player at some point in their career I suppose.

Something needs to be done about the finances but it'd just be a hollow gesture as I think it's already too late. The big clubs are already big and will stay that way and the rest will just battle it out for even a whiff of a dream of becoming a bigger one and actually challenging for something. I'm sure they will end up capping wages and clamping down on the fair play rules but that leads to 2 other main problems. They'll either just go to some other far off league that doesn't have such wage restrictions or clubs will just end up sweetening the deal behind the scenes ie, we'll pay you the max capped wage, but we'll also pay your mortgage/buy you a mansion and here's a free Lambo and a Rolex etc. Clubs could either keep this all off the books in the name of some off-shore company or just have it in their name and just let the players 'use/lease' the houses and cars from them for free. I'm sure stuff like this already goes on anyway, especially with the Neymars and Ronaldos of the world. There's probably no other way to get them without bribing them with some other luxuries, otherwise why go to them when there's plenty of other choices? There's also no loyalty with players these days either. Why would Salah or Mane even want to leave Liverpool, the club that arguably made them who they are today? I imagine it's purely financial because there's not many clubs you can go to where they're going to win more stuff than they do with Liverpool so it's almost certainly about just grabbing more cash as opposed to wanting more silverware. If Liverpool upped their wages there'd be no talk of wanting to leave I'm sure of it.
Yeah, I'd have to agree. To echo the common saying "The games gone" which is usually used in a sarcastic way, but I genuinely believe we lost it a while ago. As soon as certain organisations were allowed to buy clubs, and basically turn them into cash cows. Financial fair play has been a joke, and City proved that even when taken to court they could get away with it.

I do believe Ronaldo, and Messi have been investigated for tax issues, so what's to say that these players wouldn't take deal sweeteners that you allude to behind the scenes, I mean it's probably already happening to some extent.

I know there was a big uproar about the super league, but I genuinely believe we're already in one. Teams like City will never be challenged by the likes of Everton, unless Everton get bought out by a super rich owner. There's no making your way up the ladder any more, and I do think the English Premier League has been corrupted by international cash cows, and I think it goes without saying I'm not even being patriotic when I say that.

The only difference with the Super League was there was hard rules making sure successful clubs stay successful. However, at the moment we don't have those hard rules, but we technically have things which will prevent anyone, but the main 6 challenging. The year that Leicester won the league was absolutely brilliant, because it proved what football was all about. However, as time goes on those sort of surprise wins are going to be even more rare than they were back then.
1584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 03, 2022, 12:38:03 PM
Did you ever tried to calculate how much you have bet and how much you have won when betting on UFC fights ? Cheesy I know you have been doing this just for fun, but still I am curious, if what has been posted here ever helped you place a right bet ?
Cheesy. I've not won this year yet. I've come close to some mega money, but really that's my fault due to putting on insane odds accumulators. I imagine Tokeweed is a little more sensible than me Cheesy.

There is a UEFA Nations league running? This is more friendly games than a real tournament imho Cheesy

As to UFC, we have a number of interesting fight this summer. On YouTube found today, that UFC are trying to organize the fight between Petr Yan and Marlon Vera, but Yan did not accept that fight.
Not as interesting as the usual competitions running though. I guess we'll just have to hope for some exciting transfers to keep us entertained. I mean, I'm a little bit worried about Liverpool losing two of their best players if that counts as excitement.
1585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Effectively Maximize Profits from Online Crypto Casinos on: June 03, 2022, 12:35:33 PM
The only way you can safely maximise profits would be matched betting, and there's definitely some debate regarding whether that's moral to do or not. Although, a lot of people find a justification that the gambling websites they're using don't care about them, so why should they.

However, that's the only really fool proof way of earning money without much risk or risk at all. The only risk really is if you make a mistake or don't quite understand it. The rest of these maximising profit guides aren't worth even considering, as it's entirely luck based, and that's why the casinos, and bookies make so much money.
1586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Strongman] 2022 World’s Strongest Man on: June 03, 2022, 12:33:04 PM
I think its over already. Watched some of its video, didn't fully appreciate the contest however. Its stunning to see biceps that big that can lift block of stones weighing 188kg. But I was amazed lately about a 2009 Strongman winning who got into MMA named Mariusz_Pudzianowski from Poland. He applied what that huge muscles are for.

Yeah, hasn't got a terrible record, but those that come from a weightlifting background don't seem to do overly well. His record being 16-7 in MMA, and not many recognisable names on his record.Mariusz is a bit different from the usual strongman since he has quite a bit of muscle compared to fat, which a lot of them usually have. The thing is, that amount of mass needs a lot of oxygen, so he'll gas out before any of the guys with a bit more fat on them.
1587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 03, 2022, 12:25:18 PM
I'm due a fat win, but I'm not liking the looks of these match ups. Not sure whether to put a lower amount down, since a lot of these fights could go either way. I haven't won for a good couple of months now Cheesy.

I'll probably get my predictions out tonight at some point. Ige I'm definitely putting on the accumulator, I think that's for certain, and this might come as a shock to some users here, but I'm going for Jairzinho Rozenstruik. I think a lot of you were right in that he has slowed down recently, and I definitely don't think he's unbeatable even at his best. I predicted Tom to beat him, and we all know how that went.

I'm also thinking Lucas Almeida, what do you guys think about that match up?
1588  Economy / Economics / Re: Standard of living on: June 02, 2022, 12:19:19 PM
All matters on how much you do earn because even if you do live on a first world country but if you dont have any decent job or source of income then your standard of living or status would still be that hard.
thats why its really important that you would really be having a decent income or source to live a comfortable life. Despite of country conditions in terms of economic but still there are people who do live
a decent living because they could able to support theirselves which means that this wont really vary or matter much most of the time.
There are small differences, homeless over here have more access to food. Whether that's people giving it to them i.e donating or dumpster diving. The fact is, in Western countries food is tossed away even when it's marginally out of date or has something wrong with it. It most likely is safe to eat still, but because of strict selling laws, they can't legally sell it.

In third world countries you aren't going to get as much access to that as you would in a first world country. Besides that, there's also more help in first world countries, government schemes, soup places, and various other things have been setup. It isn't perfect don't get me wrong, and there's plenty of people struggling, but when you compare the living conditions, it's likely it's slightly better in a first world country.

Not that it makes that much of a difference if you're in that situation mind, both will feel absolutely awful, and it's quite shocking we don't do more to avoid it.
1589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: June 02, 2022, 12:06:51 PM
I'm all for a strict wage structure, but if has to adjust with the times. Our maximum wage around 200k per week, with incentives has been the way for years now. We've since come into a lot of success, which should allow us to compete on the wage structure even more. However, we haven't adjusted, and ultimately we'll pay the price. The fans aren't up in arms about it yet, but if we lose Mane, Salah, and then the following year someone like VVD, it'll one be too late, but two FSG will lose the fans.

Honestly, after the defeat against Real Madrid in the final, I was half expecting the announcement of Salah's resigning as a way to cushion the blow. That would have been the smart thing to do. However, right now we're at risk of losing two of our best players, and if they don't resign this season, I doubt teams will be willing to pay a big fee for them when they can just wait for both to run down their contracts. Mane will either go for 30-40m or go on a free. Salah, will likely go on a free rather than a fee. So, Liverpool are risking it all to keep this wage structure which hasn't been updated to keep up with the times.

I'm sickened by the wage structure that football demands, Mbappe on around 2 million a week is just ridiculous, but to remain competitive you have to keep up with the times, and it's not like we haven't got the revenue coming in to not do it.
1590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Strongman] 2022 World’s Strongest Man on: June 02, 2022, 12:01:32 PM
Seriously, if they were better at getting this televised or broadcasted in a way which was accessible, then this sport would blow up. I'm not all that into weight lifting, but I find the sport quite intriguing, since they do push them self to the limit, potentially more than any other sport.

I recently rewatched the Eddie Hall documentary, which is fantastic if anyone hasn't watched it. The amount they go through behind the scenes is quite remarkable, and his wife is very much part of his success.

In the wake of WSM 2022, some accusations
To be fair, accusations are always made in this sport, and you can see why. These guys are definitely pushing the limits on what a human body can, and can't do.
1591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 02, 2022, 11:56:37 AM
And Ige usually comes out the fresher guy during the later rounds.  So unless Evloev finishes Ige early, guys who bet Evloev  would be in for a sweat.  Still picking Evloev for my lottery ticket but it's close due to the line.
Like we said, it could be a complete blow out, and Ige gets absolutely outclassed, but the line makes it worth it. I don't know what the odd makers are seeing that I'm not seeing though. I think Ige could well win at a decision, which could buffer the odds a bit more too. He's a touch fighter, who has the stamina to keep the volume up.

This fight will be very interesting, Emmett is explosive and energetic fighter, his attacks are very dangerous and can cause serious damage. But Kattar is younger, tougher, holds a punch very well and in my opinion his punch is stronger. The fighters are strong and worthy of victory, but I think that Kattar has an advantage because he is younger. Emmett can run out of steam sooner if he fails to knock down his opponent at the beginning of the fight, which I doubt.
We'll find out who hits harder on the night as I'm not quite sure. Although, what I'm sure of is Kattar is one hell of a tough bastard. That Max fight will probably forever be in my mind. I don't think it was the greatest fight since it was very one sided, but the amount Kattar took, and was still trying to come forward was absolutely insane.
1592  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Before Bitcoin education, teach your children cyber security education. on: June 01, 2022, 12:28:11 PM
Today’s children are therefore more focused on some other things than to acquire some knowledge, because knowledge is always available online. I read somewhere that this has the effect of reducing the percentage of the brain we actively use, which would mean that technology is starting to limit us in some way when it comes to cognitive abilities - computers think, and we are becoming less and less intelligent.
That's true, most knowledge now is at the end of your fingertips. I'm not exactly against the evolution we've taken. Someone might be less intelligent because of it, but they have anything, and everything at their fingertips, so are only seconds away from gaining the necessary information to carry out whatever they need to do. They should probably teach how to search properly though.

However, that obviously changes when you come to more complex jobs or tasks. You wouldn't want a surgeon to not have any idea, and just uses Google. I mean, they do read a ton of books obvbiously as a reference point since storing all that information is futile, but you'd want them to have some sort of baseline ability.

Cybersecurity is becoming more relevant as a skill to learn though. You can't just learn security over night, there's too much complexity to it.
1593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 01, 2022, 12:04:57 PM
^  If you're going for Ige then it's better and safer to bet him straight up than including him in a parlay...  Unless you do it the way I do when I make full event parlays using a every match up to pick parlay pieces from.  Ige is lined at 4.20.  That's not bad for an underdog pick imho.  It's really quite good.  Playing the match up in my head, I just can't see Ige being that huge of an underdog.  Dunno..  Evloev could make me look dumb saying that by finishing Ige in the first round via sub or something.  But yeah, it's Evloev for me but closer to the bottom ticket.
Yeah, I never do singles. I can't remember the last time I put a single bet on. Always accumulators with me, usually unrealistic ones that they give the most tension when you get close.

Yeah, there's always that risk you end up looking a bit silly for thinking the underdog could win, but 4.20 for Ige? That's good odds in my book no matter who he's fighting. I won't be going for a particular outcome, just Ige straight up. Again, when I put up my predictions I'll probably include Evloev rather than Ige, since my predictions are what I think will happen, I'm just chancing it with Ige on the bets.
1594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: June 01, 2022, 12:02:22 PM
You'll never be loved as much as in Liverpool.
Yeah, I genuinely do believe that too. A lot of past players have talked about their time at Liverpool fondly, and that was without too much success under their belt. Whereas, Mane is going to leave with pretty good success over the years, which ultimately made him even more loved at the club.

I know we're going to say goodbye to Salah, and Mane at some point, but I was hoping we'd be able to at least get another two years out of them both. I actually think overall Mane might be the more important player of the two, however when Salah is on form, there's not many players like him. Salah probably has quite a few years left in him. He'll still be playing when he's 35/36, Mane I'm not sure.

I'm hoping that all this talk is a way of him securing a new contract, since Salah has been pushing for more. If we can get both of them on realistic salaries, I would in a heartbeat. There's not too many players out there right now, that would be a direct replacement, especially when you consider Mane can play across the line.
1595  Other / Meta / Re: Top Answer Feature on Beginners and Help Board on: May 31, 2022, 08:19:01 PM
Sorting by merit is a bad idea when it comes to solutions like others have mentioned. Though, you could use one of the userscripts which were posted here that does allow that, if you have some sort of reason too.
A simple way to implement something like this might be to give the OP the ability to pin a reply as the first response so that they can select the response they felt best helped them. This could also lead to cool other uses to make threads more entertaining.
Yeah, that's how I see this working as it is with other forums out there. The only problem with this, is it wouldn't happen a lot. A lot of questions come from newbies, which are here specifically for that question, and generally don't have any interest in continuing to post. So, likely a lot of them wouldn't pin these solutions either.

The other option is to have a community based voting system, but that probably isn't perfect, and has room for abuse or misuse, since not everyone will agree on the solution to the question. Even when there's a rather narrow scope for the answer, you might only get partial information from one user, and then another one expands onto the point. So, either way probably isn't a perfect system.
1596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you saved your bitcoins in multiple wallets? on: May 31, 2022, 07:12:35 PM
I don't see the point of spreading Bitcoin on different wallet especially if you are using same wallet type such as Bitcoincore because in case your computer got infected by malware and cause some data leak to the hacker. Both wallet will be in danger since it's technically on same device unless you are using different device to open separate wallet then that is safer compared with just splitting your funds on same wallet especially if the amount is not that significant since it's just a waste of transaction fee if you are always splitting your savings in to wallet address whenever you have extra BTC.

  • Buy Hardware wallet for your long term savings
  • Use Electrum for your daily transaction.
Well, yeah physical isolation is always best. Although, you can achieve some reasonable security with virtual isolation, although it definitely isn't recommended when comparing physical isolation to virtual. For example, and I have starting to feel like a shill for this operating system, but Qubes OS does provide some pretty niffy features that would benefit a lot of Bitcoin users. You could effectively, have the inconvenience of a hot wallet, but in a offline wallet. So, easy copying addresses etc.

Although, that's not to say that Qubes OS is the way to go forward. If you're serious about being your own bank, you should absolutely be using multiple wallets, stored in different locations. It's pretty simple, it increases your redundancy just in case one of your machines gets compromised. Honestly, offline wallets, and hardware wallets are likely most vulnerable to physical attacks, so you should be looking at that, and how to protect from physical threats.

1597  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Before Bitcoin education, teach your children cyber security education. on: May 31, 2022, 07:01:57 PM
Children should have a carefree childhood, without any burdens going in the direction of something like Bitcoin. Not only is it a security risk as you learned from your example, but it is illogical for children to be introduced to something so early when by all measures they are far from legally owning or trading such assets.

Despite the fact that some people persistently push the idea that children should be educated about how the online world works in the very early stages, and I am thinking primarily of computer and smartphone manufacturers who just want to sell as many devices as possible - children should be kept away from such things at least until they are 12 or more years old.
It's weird because I definitely agree, but right now the worlds children are basically being programmed on how to be a good worker, and understand the very basics of money. This is from a young age too. So, I definitely agree that Bitcoin shouldn't be pushed onto kids too early, same as Cyber Security. At the end of the day, they're kids, and should be doing kids things like playing around in the park, and playing sport. All that kinds of things. Learning social skills being probably one of the most important. Too many people these days are struggling with the social aspects of life.

Bitcoin could be introduced as a optional class in their teens, just like teens are given the choice on what subjects they want to study, Bitcoin could be one of them or cryptocurrencies as a more broader approach. Same as Cyber Security. If I was offered a chance to study Cyber Security instead of geography, you can bet I wouldn't even know where Scotland was, because that would be right up my alley.
1598  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: May 31, 2022, 06:55:57 PM
I think it's easy to see though, that these sanctions aren't just hurting Russia's economy. It's hurting the West's. The fact that rising living costs has happened off the back of these sanctions isn't any happy accident. Certainly, isn't solely down to the pandemic either. The thing is, the sanctions were not universally supported because a lot of those countries relied on importing Russia's gas, electric, and what have you.

So, those countries that significantly relied on them are now starting to feel the pinch, just as much as Russia if not more.
1599  Economy / Economics / Re: Quick air out of the markets and inflation down fast on: May 31, 2022, 06:53:42 PM
right now the market is in a bad state, whether it's the stock market or the crypto market.. but I'm sure that this is only temporary... in a few months this market I'm sure that will return to normal
Few years? Most likely not, these are unprecedented times. There's been reasons for past big recessions, and we've never really recovered from any of them. We've just sort of patched over the problems, without actually solving them. Now, I don't know when that dam is going to burst, however right now we're definitely heading for one of the biggest recessions we've had, and that's without even thinking about the compounding impact it would have if past patching us sort of comes away from the seams.

Covid, and a pretty massive war that has been funded by most of the world. That's going to be felt, even in developed countries. We've already seen fuel prices skyrocket, and housing prices. Now we're seeing gas, electric, and food prices shoot up. People in developed countries were barely getting by anyway.

Bitcoin, probably doesn't solve any of this, as this is going to happen in the short term.

Yeah, next event looks quite nice, even outside of the main card there's some tasty match ups, and some good underdogs with some very nice looking odds.

Yup...  It's a decent main event match up between Volkov and Roz.  But I'm more looking forward to Ige vs Evloev.  It's a test for Evloev and somewhat a big jump up in competition.  Evloev should win and I'll have him in my lottery ticket but I don't understand why he's that huge of a favorite at 1.27.  :/
For my prediction it would have to be Evloev to win, but looking at those odds, I'll probably be including Ige in my accumulator since those are odds just don't seem right to me. I was expecting Evloev to be favourite, but not by that margin.

I actually think it's going to be competitive fight, and could go either way. Could potentially be an absolute war. We're due one.
