1781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Half way to next Halving reached on: May 05, 2022, 02:25:10 PM
Even more adoption, added to yet another halving of newly mined coins really should send us to the moon in 2025 (big effect on price always seems to happen a little while AFTER the halving).

I think we had a diluted bull run in 2021, possibly due to the fall out from COVID & what it did to the world economy. We have a lot of catching up to do so I predict upwards of $250,000 in 2025 per bitcoin.

Now is definitely a good time to buy, you might even get cheaper opportunities before 2024.
Yeah, I do believe its longer than the 150 time period given in the images, I might be wrong in that I'm not a chart watcher. Although, I must say its nice to see someone putting a time period on it, since I find that a lot of people just say "its gone up ten fold!" without specifying how long that took, and therefore new investors tend to get the wrong idea.

Honestly, I think we'll be sitting around this figure for the remaining of the year, probably with some minor fluctuations. Although, I do doubt the 250k figure, I'll be quite honest if you're right about that, I'm not going to be mad if you're right Cheesy.
1782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone can help collect bitcoin on: May 05, 2022, 02:21:57 PM
I do some business personally, my customers want to send bitcoin. I am unable to get bitcoin in China.
You can receive Bitcoin no matter where you are in the world, and no matter the stance of your country. However, it might be illegal, and if you're asking if you should break the law, no one is going to tell you that you should. Instead, its ultimately up to you. There's no real special way of receiving Bitcoin in a country that has banned it. Effectively, its the same, you might want to take precautions like offline wallets or VPNs, and what not.

However, the better choice for you might be not breaking the law. So, instead of receiving Bitcoin, get the customers to either exchange it to Yuan or whatever currency you want or go through a payment processor that will do it for you.
1783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia stops accepting btc donations - “inherently predatory” on: May 05, 2022, 10:00:42 AM
It is unfortunate that Wikipedia stops accepting Bitcoin donations, but it is a lot more unfortunate that the reasons provided are either fallacious or simply outright wrong.

But I think this is more of Wikipedia's loss than Bitcoin's. After all, it is Wikipedia and not Bitcoin that will benefit from keeping such donation option.

Well, it is their free decision. Wikipedia remains helpful to the public, but so is Bitcoin. And time will tell whether Wikipedia's false impression on Bitcoin will last longer than its need to put such option back.
To be honest, this isn't so much about being a loss to Bitcoin, but the fact that a somewhat respected organisations, obviously doesn't care about integrity at all, which to be honest considering the content they host, should be vying for the upmost integrity. It's just annoying, and an absolute shame to see. I wouldn't have cared if they just dropped Bitcoin donations without this PR statement, in an attempt to look better in the public eye. That's the massively disappointing part about all of this.

I don't know why I expected anything different though. Although, its probably indicative to them not receiving much donations in Bitcoin, so they probably haven't lost anything from this, I mean in the public eye that don't follow Bitcoin, and know much about it this will be seen as a positive thing, which again is the annoying part.
1784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 05, 2022, 09:46:00 AM
Maybe not the same but he's got chin too. Looking back at his first title defense, Charles has taken some clean shots from Dustin.

I'm just going for gut feel this time and throw some money on Tony Ferguson @3.6 If he could survive the first two rounds without taking serious damage, he should be fine. I think he's got better cardio and he could capitalize on that in the later rounds.
Yeah, I think he has a chin, I mean the way he fights means if he didn't have a chin, he wouldn't have been champion anytime soon. So, by me saying he's a little chinny, maybe the opposite is true; he just leaves himself so exposed at times, it seems like he might be a little chinny, but ultimately he's very good at surviving those moments. Having said that, I do see him getting rocked at least once against Justin like I said. I rewatched the Poirier vs Justin fight the other night just for comparison. Both ultimately got rocked a few times.

I'm feeling a Chandler decision to be honest, despite the odds against it. Tony knows how to survive, and while he has been stopped more recently, I'm not sure if Chandler will have the power. He definitely does have the constant pressure though, so it's a risky bet, but with the odds right now a favourable one.
1785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 04, 2022, 10:29:31 PM
Check out recent Tony Ferguson photo few days before fight against Chandler. You know what I dont like about this picture ? There are no sparkles in Tony's eyes (and there are lots of pictures of smiling Chandler in UFC instagram). He looks old, and tired. I dont know how is he going to win with such attitude. I expect a hard beating for Tony. It will be hard to watch, as he wont tap.
I personally won't be reading much into this. Although, I don't expect Ferguson to win in the first place, so there's that. However, this might just be one of those things in the contract where they have to pose for a picture, and post it to their social media. A lot of the fighters aren't to keen on doing things like this for the media, obviously there are those that thrive on it, but Ferguson doesn't really strike me as one of them, and never has. Whereas, Chandler does like to play up to the camera a little more.

Again, wouldn't let this influence me on betting.
1786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Semifinals! on: May 04, 2022, 10:10:04 PM
Well, I said I wanted a good game for the neutral, and I ultimately wanted Madrid to nab it, and well that just happened. What a game of football, some decent defense for most of the game, and despite City maybe having the better chances, I always thought Madrid looked like the ones most likely to get ahead, I know that's a weird thing to say, I just feel like their chances they had (which were offside) were better chances. Yeah, they didn't have any shots on target until like the 90th minute, but they've proven that doesn't matter.

That might just be on par with Istanbul. Except, it wasn't a individual effort, it was a great team effort. I think it potentially tops it if they go on to win in the final. Hopefully, that won't be the case for obvious reasons Cheesy. What a game of football, and I'll be completely honest I'm a little more optimistic of going against Madrid, even with this performance tonight.
1787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia stops accepting btc donations - “inherently predatory” on: May 04, 2022, 06:50:09 PM
Yes. Bitcoin, just like any other useful innovation, uses energy. But, why now, Wikipedia?
Unfortunately, we are in a day, and age where truth doesn't matter, and not many companies/organisations, have much integrity, and it does seem like Wikipedia might actually be one of them, which to be honest is rather disheartening, and annoying considering the type of content that they provide.

I say the above, and I understand that it might sound a little hostile, however I'm not intentionally being hostile to the companies that do this sort of thing, I'm just annoyed that political pressure, and what we actually think is much more important than the truth these days. Personally, I consider a company or organisation standing up against the status quo, and sticking to the actual facts a little more respectable, than sucking up to the public or their shareholders, just to secure more money.

Does Bitcoin use energy, Yeah. Does it use more than fiat? No. Does that excuse the energy use? Probably not. Should we be looking to improve where ever practical? Yeah, however I think it's being blown way out of proportion, and to me it seems there's a clear bias among the media now, and public perception has definitely changed over the last year or so. I'm not hearing people say Bitcoin is fake money, and you can't use it as much now, I'm seeing them say it's detrimental to the environment.

Honestly, I believe this is the next stumbling block for Bitcoin. We've proven to overcome them in the past, like the previous example of being fake money, and not being able to use it, I think we've largely overcome that public perception, however this might just be the biggest challenge we've faced. Everything these days is being about as green, and socially acceptable as possible, which when the news seems to be against Bitcoin, might just be a hard thing to overcome.
1788  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to reduce energy consumption and eliminate wasted work on: May 04, 2022, 06:34:08 PM
Will bitcoin ever move to prove of stake? I’m sure all these waste of energy will be solved
"Waste" of energy is rather subjective. Depends what you mean, do you mean the energy lost from the heat the miners create, or the energy expended to satisfy the Proof of Work system? If it's the latter, simply put it's an important part of what makes Bitcoin stand out, if you change from a different algorithm, then much of the benefits are lost, without too much to gain.

I do still believe people should mine more at home. Did you guys read about the recent 'Compass Mining incident'? Users' gear was suddenly shut down and they had to sell their gear within 48 hours notice, because the company had issues with the Russian hosting provider. No chance of getting the gear home. I'm not against people building mining farms for themselves, but I'd try to have full control of my hardware at all times and not rent it to someone who might not let me have it back.
The problem with this is that a lot of people would rather take that risk, which to be honest isn't exactly common, than pay the increasingly higher electricity rates at home. I'm assuming you mean by home, actually in their house, or even if you're referring to mining within their own country, if you're in the West, then you're very likely paying more for your electricity than you would in the East. So, naturally there's a lot more incentive to have off shore if you will, mining operations.

Also, the other downside, and this only really applies to if you mean mining at their actual home is even the quietest miners, tend to make some sort of audible sound, which not everyone wants in their home. Then you have to think about the dynamics at home, the husband/wife might want to mine, but does their partner want the constant hum of the miners, and the wires sprawled everywhere. Its not like the West have better availability of clean energy, so it doesn't even work in that favour.

The way to go forward likely is creating their own energy, and then hooking the miners up to that. Although, that only appeals to a very select few, and probably more of the type that have hundreds of miners on the go, rather than just a hobbyist.
1789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Semifinals! on: May 04, 2022, 06:18:54 PM
As a somewhat neutral, I'm just hoping for a competitive game, and not just a one sided game on either of sides. I imagine Man City has the better chances here, but the betting odds are actually quite decent. 2.00 for a Man City win, which to be honest is a little more than I was expecting. I was expecting somewhere around 1.60-1.80.

Although, I was giving a £5 free bet, which I put on a bet builder, which is going for the Real Madrid win along with a few yellow cards, and stuff. Think it has a good chance of coming in, but it really does depend on what sort of City team we get tonight, and most importantly can Real Madrid play like they did the latter stages of the first leg right from the off, otherwise I see the tie escaping them again, quite early on.

Liverpool deserved to qualify, they played neatly and obviously the quality of their game above Villareal. Even at the beginning was surprised by Villareal's quick goal and 2-0 up at half-time. But Liverpool have a great mentality, even I am amazed they can make 3 goals to win and qualify for the final. If you look at the game in the second half of Villareal's game decreased, Fabinho's 1 goal made Villareal's mentality even more shattered. Even they played worse and Capoue got a red card.
I'm not sure if we deserved it per say, but I'm glad we managed to get the win even against the odds at half time. I do think Villareal probably wanted to at least win the one leg, since they did put a massive amount of effort into that game. Although, I have to agree that overall I do believe we deserved to go through to the final, I thought despite our terrible performance in that first half, we played the better football over the two legs. However, Villareal had a tactic, and it very nearly worked against us. On another night, they might have just had that luck that was required to go through.
1790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the fees aren't enough? on: May 04, 2022, 05:07:42 PM
Well, it is simple if you use an extremely low fee it can result in an unconfirmed transaction, and mining in this era is a highly profitable venture, and as long as their get rewarded for every block mined so low fee transactions will definitely get mined but it may just be got a little delayed because of the fees.
They won't get block rewards in terms of new Bitcoin being introduced into the circulation, at least eventually, which I do believe is the question of this discussion. Fees probably won't always remain low, unless the volume of transactions is high enough to justify low fees, which probably means that there will be less competition than there's today in mining.

Although, like I touched upon above the answer isn't actually straight forward, since we're too far away to know where Bitcoin will be at in terms of adoption, and the amount of people actually using it as a every day currency, rather than a reserve currency. That's if Bitcoin will still be alive, and kicking that far in the future.
1791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 04, 2022, 05:04:05 PM
Both do have a wrestling background but they prefer using strikes, I really think they only used those takedowns when the opponent got an upper hand in striking, but even though they don't usually use those ground moves, they surely can win via submission, so both must look out for those takedowns, and if this is a farewell fight for Tony Ferguson, then Tony must win this so he can have a good time moving on to other stuff
Yeah, I agree to an extent, but we'll probably see Tony looking to stand up, and Chandler will mix it up like he usually does. Chandler wins fights via pressure, constant pressure. I don't expect anything different so while he will definitely be looking for the knockout, he'll be shooting for take downs, and there will likely be a bit of grappling mixed in.

I can see Tony going to another organisation if the UFC aren't willing to offer him another contract, which I do doubt. Think he probably still has some fights in him, despite his dwindling ability, and obviously his age catching up with him. He just comes across as a man that loves the sport, and will probably be doing it for much longer than he really should be.

Ultimately, for this fight I don't see anything, but a Chandler win.
1792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the fees aren't enough? on: May 04, 2022, 03:08:12 PM
If miners are not having profit, they would have shot down operation and never mine but the hashrate rate continue to increase which means either more miners are joining and old miners are buying more mining equipments.

About the issue of if the transaction fee is never enough, this can happen if the mempool is congested, that is why it is good to use RBF in case of such time so that you can be able to increase the fee if such situation happen.
Aye, but currently we are operating on block rewards, eventually (a long bloody time) block rewards won't be around, and therefore they will be operating on the fees that the users include. Unfortunately the only answer that seems plausible is that fees either increase so much that it justifies mining or the amount of miners drops massively, and therefore the difficulty. So, only a few miners would be needed to process the transactions. Obviously, this is all so hard to predict, because by the time this becomes a reality, we don't know how popular Bitcoin is going to become. If Bitcoin becomes one of the mainstream currencies, being used every day by millions or dare I say it; billions of people then I don't think miner incentive is going to be a problem, we'll likely have far more greater problems though.
1793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 04, 2022, 01:25:10 PM
If we look at the Poirier vs Justin fight, that was also a very close fight despite Poirier getting the win. Poirier was rocked a few times, and I'm not sure if Olivera has the chin that Poirier does. Also, I do think Justin has improved since, and will be looking to prove that this event. Olivera only chance of surviving would be going for the take down as soon as he's hurt, I don't see him not getting hurt at least once in this fight, and it all depends on how he manages that. If he doesn't deal with it well, i.e go for the take down, then I'd say that's game over. The thing with Poirier, he was willing to take the shots, and also swang, and bang, which lead to a bit of a stalemate, Olivera doesn't do that as much, at least not with the same amount of threat.

It'll be interesting, he haven't seen Justin dominated on the ground except for Khabib. So, whoever wins this fight, their stock increases I think. Olivera less so, obviously.
1794  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 04, 2022, 01:21:11 PM
If you're a Liverpool fan, somehow every game feels like a final. This game against Tottenham definitely has me worried, think they've been playing some decent football, and while I should be confident, we always seem to struggle a little against them. Especially, since they're probably the very definition of a good counter attacking team.

I had Manchester United for a clean sheet win at 2-0 but then I don't know why I was not convinced that they were going to win and changed to a draw 2-2.This shows that luck plays a big role in the pool beside skill as it is just luck that brought me to change the result and lose the points,I know many other persons in the pool change often their predictions after having put them so I would say we should never touch the initial prediction because rarely the changed one comes true.
Yeah, I think that's fairly obvious. Gambling is a lot of luck, at least with sports betting there's some sort of skill to it compared to lets say slots or something along that nature. I do think your later statement is probably superstition rather than fact though. Whatever you go for, it doesn't matter until what happens. There's so much unpredictability in sport, let alone football.
1795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 03, 2022, 08:59:52 PM
Glad to see I'm not the only crazy bastard thinking Justin could actually take this one. I'd definitely say he isn't the favourite, but I don't know I have a good feeling, and the odds are looking tasty.

What about Oliveiras poor eyesight. Does interfere him much? What do you think?  Because Charles Oliveira admits his dreadful vision is 'only at 50 per cent' without glasses and jokes he sees THREE opponents during fights.

Yeah, I'm not sure. To be honest, I don't think it has effected him much up until this point, but only he really knows that. I don't think his defensive ability is because of lack of seeing the punches, but rather the way he sets himself up, and of course the rushed, and hectic nature he tends to go into the takedowns with.

1796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Semifinals! on: May 03, 2022, 08:56:23 PM
Well, I don't know how, but that second half felt incredibly easy after we scored. I can't believe we actually turned that around if you solely base it on how we were playing in the first half. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that dressing room at half time, because time, and time again Klopp seems to just turn it around. Diaz coming on definitely changed how we played, and what a player to have who is still relatively young for a football player.

I'm hoping for a Madrid vs Liverpool final, as I do believe that's our best chance. The thing is with City, and Liverpool its either a deadlock, a Liverpool mauling or City just manage to perform better than us on the day. So, while I don't think Madrid is a easy game by any stretch of the imagination, I do think it'll be the easier of the two. Not by much mind you, I just find Madrid are more prone to lapse of concentration, just look at the first half of the game against City, as an example.
1797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Semifinals! on: May 03, 2022, 12:45:31 PM
Confident going into the tie. Don't think Villareal are going to have too much to offer, they'll probably be playing a little more aggressive than the first leg, but that'll probably work to our benefit, and we'll be able to have a more exciting, and open game. Expecting a few goals today, and probably much earlier than we did before.

If I was going to predict a score, I'd probably go with a 0-3 to Liverpool.

The latest news from Villareal is 6 players got injured including Raul Albiol and Alberto Moreno which is these players is regular player for Villareal and i think it will have an impact on team performance but for Liverpool they probably will play full team because so far only Firminho cannot play and after seeing this news there is a chance for Liverpool to win this match so for safe bet Liverpool win seems good choice
A lot of their players were already out for the first leg. Plus, we probably will see some changes in the Liverpool squad, although that doesn't mean we'll be weaker. Just a few changes here, and there. Especially to that midfield, and one of the front three likely being swapped around. Salah probably does get the nod though, due to being rested recently.
1798  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 03, 2022, 12:41:06 PM
Yeah, for me Khabib is a different fighter to Oliveira. For one, I consider Khabib to be more cautious, whereas Oliveira risks is too much for his type of style. He's a little more rushed, and more hectic, which usually means good viewing, but a bit more risk to him, and whoever has bet on him.

For me Oliveira is like Khabib, but with much worse defensive skills. Olivera over the time has improved his striking and defence, but still not enough. He has learned head moves to avoid jabs, but he is really bad when his opponent attacks on different levels. If his opponent does 3 strikes to the head and swings to make a fourth strike, then Oliveira practically would never defend his body. As a native BJJ fighter, he is very good on striking, but defence is his weak point. His really takes a lot of damage. With Gaethje, and his low kicks, that might not be good. However Poirier is counted to be a good striker, but he had lost to Oliveira.
I might be wrong, but I consider Gaethje a better, at least more impactful striker. While, Poirier is the more well rounded fighter. Although, having said that despite Poirier losing on the night, he very nearly finished that fight a few times, hence my comment about Oliveira being a little bit suspect in terms of defense.

I'll be going for Gaethje via finish @ 2.87. That's good enough odds for me to put a little cheeky bet on. To be honest, even the Oliveira decision line @ 6.50 is rather encouraging. I do see him either getting knocked out or putting the submission on Gaethje though. Gaethje is a tough guy though, which I do believe was a decent wrestler.
1799  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin price calculator - Calculate live and historic Bitcoin prices on: May 03, 2022, 10:20:47 AM
I've always pointed people to Preev, as I think many would have. However, I quite like the implementation of the basic historical data. Something which I believe would be beneficial to new users who might want to see how far we've come.

If I had one suggestion, and I touched upon it below in my response to hugeblack. Keep it simple. Don't look to compete on all fronts, and make the site messy. Preev was successful, and is the go to choice because of its simplicity, and clean design. I the site is perfect how it is, and if you were to look at adding other data, I would suggest doing it on its own pages, and keeping that landing page as clean as possible.

I guess the only other suggestion would be to look at adding more currencies to compare to. Although, you've satisfied some of the larger populations already. For me, that's the only place that Preev currently beats you in, and maybe they have a bit better interface in terms of simplicity.

The site is nice and smooth, but it is very basic. I will give you some suggestions:

 - Add more platforms to compare prices.
 - Add the possibility of printing the price, time and amount.
 - Add historical data.
 - Add a specific title and track the title's movement in the charts.
 - Add more trading pairs.

More can be added, but you need the night mode now and quickly.
I know this has already been addressed now as the suggestion was made a long time ago, but I quite like basic sites though. I hate when sites try to compete on all fronts, and ultimately end up messy. Personally, I would have set up the website a little differently, so I would have had the charts higher up on the page, and the rest of the information below it. Other than that, adding your suggestions might just lead to a messy site. I think, your suggestions are good, but I think if they were to be added they should be added to their own page, and keep the landing page relatively simple.
1800  Other / Meta / Re: Does the forum not like us using TOR or privacy applications? on: May 03, 2022, 09:54:08 AM
captcha's are ultimately a way to reduce costs associated with running a service. If we didn't require captcha's to create accounts and login, the forum would need to invest more resources in anti-spam moderation, and in recovering hacked accounts.
Yeah, I understand the need for them, I just wish there was a better way to go about it. I'm generally not a fan of punishing normal users, because of the minority. Although, it might be the case that spammers/malicious users might just be the majority of the users registering these days.

I wouldn't change it currently, I'm just hoping someone can come up with a better way than the captcha's. I'm particularly not a fan of Google's service, since I try to avoid Google as much as possible, however I'll also admit they're simply the best, and no other service really compares with them.

So, don't get me wrong. I understand they're a requirement for any website these days, I'm just not a fan of the systems, and ideally I'd like to see some new ideas thrown around, that could ultimately end up replacing them or potentially just a competitor to Google's.

I've personally had to implement captcha's for the benefit of myself, and begrudgingly that was also Google's reCAPTCHA, since at the time of me comparing, and testing a few it was leaps, and bounds better. Ultimately, that's why we've become so reliant on Google services though, they are generally better than the competitors.
