It appears Dana's new pet Paddy the Baddy is doing a similar strategy of hype like Dana's other pet Conor McGregor. Paddy Pimblett and Ilia Topuria almost went into a fight in the hotel where the fighters were staying hehe. The video appeared to be Paddy throwing a box with food some inside, however, the article mentioned that it was Topuria who punched Paddy.
Promotion strategy becoming more, and more WWE esque. I very much doubt this is real, since Paddy to me seems an alright guy behind the cameras. He only becomes the showman in front of the camera, this has been pretty well documented too. Whereas at least with Conor you didn't know if it was real, since it does seem he's a bit of an idiot off camera too.

I don't like all of this crap to hype up the fights, I'm already hyped enough to see Paddy. Although, I do think he is going to get caught a lot just like in his first fight. He isn't Conor that's for sure.
2082  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet is safe for keeping large amount of btc? on: March 15, 2022, 06:27:10 PM
tl;dr if you have less than $500, go use Electrum[1] or BlueWallet[2]. on the other hand, if you have more than $500, grab a reputable hardware wallet from either Ledger[3] or Trezor[4].

[1] https://electrum.org/
[2] https://bluewallet.io/
[3] https://ledger.com/
[4] https://trezor.io/
Then, if you've got a serious amount of Bitcoin, seeking a air gapped, completely offline solution would be beneficial. Something like a ColdCard, could do the trick. Although, pretty much any open source Bitcoin wallet is good enough for storing offline, as long as its stored securely. Obviously, hardware wallets allow users who might not understand the security risks, secure their Bitcoin to at least acceptable levels, right off the bat. ColdCard is a little more complex, and could potentially introduce errors if someone isn't entirely familiar with the process.

2 I think I need to start tagging those bumping accounts for my future reference and convenience on tracking which account already reviewed and which account is new
It would be better if you were to report them, maybe we can start getting to the bottom of this. I'm currently compiling a list of users that I suspect are merit abusing, trying to avoid getting nuked. Since, when they have some merit patrollers can't nuke them, and that effectively reduces the chances of them getting banned. However, like I said I'll be collecting a list of usernames, and then pinging that to the higher ups, once I have a substantial enough list.

Although, the merit abuse is only a hunch at the moment, I haven't got anything solid to back that up. It's just weird that this group of users all have one or two merit, and they're from other users which have barely earned anything. It could potentially be a filtering down effect here. Also, I've noticed some also purchase Copper membership, probably in an attempt to appear more legit too.

Relictum was already cleaned by someone, as when I bookmarked it it had 35 pages, but when I started to clean it I saw it has only 13 pages and most of the remaining posts are made by OP. I had to report only 4 posts here.
Yeah, I went through that thread. Obviously, it's easy to miss a few posts when dealing with a large amount. I do have a sort of routine where I go back, and double check after handling the reports in my report queue. I've probably already deleted several pages worth on Decent too. A long way to go, but I think we could potentially sort this one out in a month rather than 20+ years Cheesy.
2084  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: March 15, 2022, 02:55:40 AM
I know the cost section might put a lot of users off the idea of doing this, but ignore the total cost, because the total cost is likely not going to to be anywhere near that. Since, most of these items, people already have especially if they're a home owner. For example, I have millions of washers/screws (including the size required), I have a sledge, gloves, duct tape, hot glue gun, and a micro fibre cloth. That has already reduced the price by 35+ euros based on the OP's pricing. Although, I bet I have a tonne of other stuff in storage that can either be substituted to a degree or already have. For example, the stickers could potentially be substituted.

Hide it in something dirty like coffee grounds or diapers.
This is just going to draw more attention to yourself, since whoever is snooping in your bins, will now be asking why your feeding washers to your baby. Nah, but in all seriousness that's a good idea, even some of the lowly of thief's aren't going through diapers.

Interesting way of storing the seed. I suppose stamping is better at remaining legible than say, etching it. If anyone got a hold of this, they'd still be able to use it right? Is there any additional thing that can be done to prevent that or at least make it harder for them to access?

What do you think of like doing a simple encoding of the passphrase so that it'll take longer for them to access the content?
You could encode it if you really wanted too, but depending on your threat model could potentially be overkill. However, to answer your question if someone got their hands on the washers it contains the seed, so they would be able to use it just like anyone else. This basically protects against losing the seeds though various natural threats, for example fires, flooding to degradation of materials. Steel washers are decent at surviving most things, maybe not very high temperatures, but it really does depend on how you store them, hence the container suggested.

Although, if you've got into this much effort, it's probably safe to assume you also have at least some physical security in place to prevent prying eyes. The security labels are a good idea, but effectively if the container has been opened, and therefore the stickers have been torn, you can safely assume that its already been compromised. It's more of a warning that it has been compromised, that something that'll help you save it, if you get what I mean. It doesn't necessarily safeguard your seed.
2085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 15, 2022, 01:17:44 AM
Early picks for the next event, of course I'm going to go with the Welshies. So, Jack Shore, and Cory Mckenna are going to absolutely smash it, and Jack Shore being the underdog is very good value in my opinion. He's a solid fighter, as a bit of everything. Outside of that, the clear pick for a almost guarantee win for me would be Ilia Topuria. Although, I'm still upset about what happened to Ryan Hall.

Magomed Ankalaev is seriously going up in rankings after winning against Thiago Santos who lost four from his last five fights.
Light Heavyweight is getting more interesting and I think Ankalaev that is currently ranked in six position must fight with one of the top five fighters next.
If Thiago Santos continues to lose he could soon be removed from UFC roster.

There was a lot of hype going in to the fight with Thiago, with a lot of fans predicting a finish or at the very least a dominant performance. That's not what we got, and quite frankly I think his hype has taken a hit as a result. Thiago isn't exactly the Thiago that was fighting a few years ago, while still dangerous, he lacks movement, but Magomed was very gun shy for someone being the overwhelming favour going in to the fight, and he didn't even really try or do that much wrestling. I feel like if Thiago just did a little more he would have won the fight.
2086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 13, 2022, 03:40:54 PM
Spurs has to be one of the most inconsistently good teams in the Premier League. One day they look like world beaters with their counter attacking style, and then other times they look like they'll just about roll over for anyone in the league. This was particularly highlighted with the game against Man City, they looked like every counter attack they could score, yet they play against Man Utd, which lets be honest despite the win aren't particularly good at the moment, and Spurs just look absolutely hopeless.

Chelsea also struggling against Newcastle, I made a bet for a 0-0 at half time as Chelsea has found it hard to break down teams at times, and I always see Newcastle as a first half team, but they usually lose it in the second.
2087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 13, 2022, 03:37:12 PM
Enjoyed the whole event though. Fights that you won't expect to have a brutal end like the flying knees of Azamat. Watching a big guy doing that is spectacular.

I thought the event was brilliant, probably one of the best in recent memory. There was comebacks, domination, and tight fights. It basically had everything, except for a entertaining main event. I do find that though, the main event is typically very cagey, since usually there's more on the line. Just think how hard fighters find it to get headline a event, let alone keep on headlining.

I'm a fan of Thiago, but I do think its time he potentially hangs up the gloves. He's always dangerous because of his power, however the days of him being in entertaining fights is largely gone. Now we only see little bursts of excitement from him. Although, I must say I think he did well against an opponent who is held in high regard.
2088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 13, 2022, 02:16:55 PM
@Welsh. If we can be very honest, the fight was very boring for a light heavyweight fight between 2 fighters who are in the top 10. I am not certain what the other fighters are hyping in their posts in social media.
Yeah, I don't mind chess matches per say, but this was particularly uneventful, like I said I think that Thiago had the best moment of the fight with the knockdown, however this isn't a fight we'll be talking about next week, let alone further down the line.

Have you spot the recurring theme here, any fighter who put up a good fight with Jon Jones end up in a shitty phase after that fight, may be a burn out even after giving their best performance and still end up loosing, Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, Dominick Reyes and these fighters are struggling, once a title contender against Jon Jones and showcased heart and gave him a good fight but now these fighters are on a loosing streak and never peaked after the Jon Jones fight.
Yeah, although I'm not usually skeptical like that. I think it's more likely to be down to aging, and the fact that he has had some pretty serious knee surgeries, and at his age his knees are going to be naturally hurting from the amount of punishment they've taken over the years, that will only be exaggerated by the surgeries. I don't think he's going to be in the UFC much longer.
2089  Other / Meta / Re: Curiosity about being merited for a comment on a 4-months old locked thread. on: March 13, 2022, 01:45:22 PM
That's a real sense of responsibility that you did not miss to merit a post even when you are out of merits. Keeping track of all those good posts is a work itself.
Not really, I only tend to look at that list when I'm piling up with merits, and new source allocation is coming up which would result in me losing some. Although, most threads that are in that list, are actively discussed since they're usually good quality discussions, and therefore I just happen upon them again.

The list isn't also regularly maintained, and for the above reason a lot of the posts I've happened upon again with regular browsing, and likely merited it already. So, the list rarely gets used, especially since recently I've been making a conscious effort to exhaust my merit allocation every month.
2090  Other / Meta / Re: Curiosity about being merited for a comment on a 4-months old locked thread. on: March 13, 2022, 12:26:21 PM
My philosophy is I merit good posts, regardless of if a user has reached a rank or the maximum rank. I don't even consciously look at what rank or how many merits you need. I try not to let that play a part. Anyhow, I can't remember exactly how I got to your old posts, but I do tend to read a lot of old posts. Especially, when I'm on break or not actually logged in, that's when I usually just go on a reading spree, I mentally note down good posts, and once I'm back at my computer, I go on these little merit sprees for posts I can remember. I'd say most threads in a day, I've read in certain sections, and then it's simply just logging in, and refreshing my memory.

I also use the merit statistic page as suchmoon suggested, I use pretty much all of them, most merited recent threads, and most merited replies. Not only because I'm also looking to merit them, but because I want to be reading what has been deemed some of the best posts recently.

I don't usually crawl through post histories looking for merit per say, unless a certain user has piqued my interest. I do sometimes as above, set a certain period of time to merit posts I've previously read, and wasn't logged in at the time. For example, when in work or out, and about, but whenever I get a spare moment you can bet your buck I'm browsing the forum on the phone while not logged in.

However, I do believe I saw some of your posts linked in one those threads which report good posts, that might have been it. I can't really remember, I've slept since then Cheesy.

It's very likely that Welsh makes bookmarks or lists of posts that he will merit at one point in the future. Maybe when he has more time on his hands or when his source merits fill up again.
Right, I also have a fairly large list of posts, which I tend to add to when I'm out of merit. I used to this with reports too, when I wasn't logged in I'd make a note for later.
2091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 13, 2022, 03:31:32 AM
Thiago was close to finishing the fight, however he hasn't been the same fighter since those knee surgeries. Thought that both fighters were a little too gun shy today, obviously being cautious as they know the power of one, and another. I think the decision going against Thiago was probably justified, although I did think he had at least the best chance of ending the fight on the night.

Absolute banger of a card, glad I didn't put an accumulator on this weekend, too many fights swinging in momentum between rounds wouldn't have been good for the heart. On another note, looking forward to the next event, Jack Shore, and Mckenna fighting, which you can bet your buck, I'll be routing for them to win. Think Jack Shore at current odds is a very good bet.
2092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 12, 2022, 06:42:34 PM
I think I'm just going to put a small amount on Thiago Santos by TKO today. Them most probable outcome is a decision win going against him, however you can never count out his power, and with the odds definitely reflecting what most people are expecting, I couldn't pass it up.

All the other fights on this card I consider very hit, and miss. Could go either way, I've made predictions in another thread, but really that's just a shot in the dark. I'm not overly confident putting out predictions for users to follow here, so I'm just going to sit back, relax, and enjoy this one.

I don't think the UFC is going to ban Russian fighters because they generate a large amount of money for the UFC.

And I am not sure what to say about the Islam Makhachev and Rafael dos Anjos situation because I have no idea who is speaking the truth here. But I think Islam Makhachev is not someone who will run from any fight.
That hasn't exactly stopped others from banning them. It's quite clear my position on it, I think it's absolutely disgraceful that there are even talks about banning Russian athletes, although I do have a little more faith in MMA organisations as they aren't typically the people that just bend under political pressure.

Sounds like more talk to me. I'd favour Makhachev in that fight though, so I don't think it's because he's a afraid or anything of the other rumours that are circulating.
2095  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HACK IT! (a friendly challenge for the forum's experts) on: March 11, 2022, 05:47:51 PM
To be honest, if your going into this much trouble in order to over complicate things you might as well just memorise the private key, which is definitely doable. However, like it was pointed out pretty early, this isn't secure, since you aren't protecting against other issues that might prop up in life. I know you said you'd let your family know how to decipher whatever contraception you come up with to encrypt your seed, however they are unlikely to remember it in the long run, it isn't their money, and as long as something doesn't happen to you prematurely, they aren't going to remember it. For example, I could care less about what someone is going to give me for their inheritance, I'd rather them here, so I probably wouldn't care about remembering anything.

While it's definitely true that security, and convenience don't always work together, they are still intricately tied together. You can't have security without convenience, and you can't have security while having too much convenience.

Like I said, if you want to over complicate things to a unnecessary degree, there's probably easier ways to do it, while still retaining the same security.
2096  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: March 11, 2022, 05:14:14 PM
I forgot to vote. I actually intended on voting in some of the categories this year, just things got in the way. Although, I definitely think there's been a few problems with the current format highlighted, and I believe for most of them they can be somewhat mitigated for future additions. I do think there was more interest in this years competition than the previous year, even without all of the controversy surrounding certain voters.

Why is humans like this? We tend to be lawless and unnecessarily smart. Infact I wouldn't know what to say about this. Why should someone want to vote twice? Is it that some persons have decided not to be law abiding that they will like to cheat every process?
Pretty much every single industry I've worked in outside of this forum, at some point in the process someone is cheating. I could probably count on one hand theThe major reason is a lot of people are motivated by money, which usually means they try to make as much of it as possible, and while merit might not be obviously linked to money, it definitely helps certain users with certain goals.

2097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 11, 2022, 05:09:41 PM
Yup, best to wait for the last possible minute to bet on MMA. Actually, I can't remember many fights being canceled after a successful weigh-in, so anything after weigh-in should be A-OK. For the money you just outlined, that's not that much to just try it out and see how it works. It seems like a cool concept might even try it out for myself for shits and giggles. However, my overall track record on detrmaning winners is not all that good XD
Yeah, I've made this mistake just last weekend. I bet on one of the fighters in a massive accumulator, a very good value one which I expected him to 100% win the bout, and his opponent pulls out which automatically voids that selection, which would have reduced my total winnings, so I just cashed out. When the value is there though, it's hard to ignore since definite wins, or as close as you can get them can add a few thousand to long accumulators.
2098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 11, 2022, 05:00:02 PM
All my picks looking healthy at half time. Watching the Villa game and I'm really enjoying what I see. Backed them last game and this one -- both as slight underdogs, which Gerrard probably relishes. The little magician's finding a good home.
I absolutely am not the biggest fan of "Chelski" this season, they've actually ruined five of my accumulators this year. One which actually did come in for 25k. Although, I'll still stick up for them, because the treatment they're receiving is as you put it; racist, and unfair. I get the UK government want to make it look like they're trying to hurt Russia as much as possible, without actually going to war with them, however I don't agree with the mass amount of seizures of normal people's assets either.

War is already horrible enough, we don't need to do more harm to the people who hasn't got a say regardless of whether you sanction them or not. Anyway, Chelsea ruined another of my accumulators yesterday, I had them down as a 3-0, and they concede through a unnecessary penalty. You can just imagine how irate I was seeing that there was really no danger, but he did have his hand in a non natural position. It was definitely a pen.

I'm probably going to put one more bet on this week, since I quite like the fixture list for an accumulator. Though, I think I'll forget putting Chelsea on my accumulators for a while.
2099  Economy / Reputation / Re: [LIST] ANN threads that are using bumping services on: March 11, 2022, 04:49:44 PM
Whenever we get through a pile of threads, there's always more to keep us on our toes Cheesy. I'll take a thorough look of these later on. Though a quick glance suggests a global moderator will likely be needed to ban the higher ranked users.

Although, I'm still going through the Decent thread, and I suspect that'll take pretty much all of this weekend. So, another staff might have taken care of it before then.
2100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 11, 2022, 12:22:09 AM
Colby also managed to take Kamaru down in their second fight, albeit briefly.
Yeah, wasn't this quite controversial because the UFC didn't officially recognize it as a take down? Thus, the accusations started that the UFC was trying to protect Usman's takedown defense record. When I watched it, I was pretty damn certain that it was a takedown, and while Colby definitely did lose that fight quite convincingly, he did get that take down.

I wouldn't expect that fight to go any different even if they continued to fight each other for the rest of their careers, except for maybe a few knockouts by Usman. Can't see Colby every becoming champion while Usman is around.
